Let me tell you about the melody Bar. The misses chose this spot for date night; constantly saying when she use to work in the area years ago, here and a co-worker would go there for lunch. I was like bet, let's do this. When we got there, I looked at her... She looked at me.... I looked at her.... She look at me. We paid the cover charge and entered. The place was pact with people having a good ole time eating food, having drinks and giving to the old school hip-jop/r&b music. We sat at our time and were immediately were greeted and took our orders. We hade a couple drinks to go alongside our burgers. Let me tell you something. If you are a burger guru, you need to hit up this spot. One of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Everyone was friendly and the music had you in a great mood. If we didn't have other plans after, we would of been there until they close. Definitely will have to check out this spot again. read more

Everything is served in saturated fats . football season is here again yet never enough staff never enough staff the place just needs to be remodeled. This is by far one of my favorite bars to go to. I moved to Los Angeles 2 years ago and this was the first bar my best friend took me to. I must say the view of seeing a plane landing outside the front door (Not literally, but close enough) was a literally scary. This bar is located next to LAX. I was amazed with the amazing music selection. The staff is always so friendly. On top of the happy hour this is a great bar to come too. However, on a busy night service can be slow and not many tables and seats available. I really love the happy hour and that is the time I usually come. The drinks are always nice and strong. The food is typical bar food nothing too special, but it gets the job done if you're hungry. Above all this is a great bar to come and watch a game or just listen to music. The prices are reasonable. We decided to sit at the bar because when we asked for a table they told us we had to order from the bar and then sit down at a table. It took about 10minutes for the bartender to take our order. He was by himself with a wrapped bar. I asked for a water which I never received. I then asked for a margarita and never got that either. The food is just basic. Nothing special. Woke up late on a Sunday and ask my friend to grab some food. Now I'm the type of person that can eat breakfast anytime of the day! We were trying to find a spot with some music but gave up. He mentioned Melody Bar so I said let's go! We got there and checked out the menu and found our picks: veggie omelet and home fries for me, French toast, eggs and home fries for the friend. The waiter was super cool and transparent. He let us know that the home fries were not the OG "home fries" but literal fries with peppers and onions. We looked at him, he looked at us, we looked at him, he looked at us and said sure, why not? We decided to be adventurous and did a bottle of mimosas; I wanted pineapple juice, the friend wanted us to agree on one juice. The waiter said, how about I bring all 3? Fantastic! We didn't wait too long for our food and lemme tell you.....I was starving! My omelet was FAT! Them eggs was thicker than a snicker and the veggies were grilled to perfection. Check this out, them home "fries" were divine! They grilled those peppers and onions just right to where the onions low key caramelized and the fries were fried just right with some good seasoning! The juice from my omelet was hitting them fries just right. This was probably the first time I didn't share with my friend but he didn't share his French toast with me (greedy!!) All in all we left satisfied and on our way out we stopped at the kitchen to give the chef some love. Give that man a raise!! read more

Came in to catch one of my favorite LA DJ's while he was "throwing down". I went ahead and decided to order some fried chicken sliders with an alcohol-free beer. Well, what do you know, all is well that ends well. Enjoyed some awesome sounds and the food was good too! This bar is the absolute nearest bar to LAX and can't be beat in terms of a spot to hit either before or after touching down-as many do. On the other hand, there are those who have been coming here for decades who have supported this bar since day one. I fall somewhere in between, but can say that overall, you are in for a good experience when you come here. But always check to see what DJ or entertainment (if any) is lined up for that day of the week. To conclude, server Carlos was my CSA, or customer service All-Star on this experience. We visited during happy hour and unfortunately, the service was not great. There was only one person taking orders, which made things very slow--possibly due to a private party happening at the same time. Took us 30 minutes to place an order and almost missed happy hours Many customers seemed to also have issues with their bills, going back and forth to sort them out. I eventually manage to get help from a server who didn't speak English but was very willing and kind--he took my order at the bar and did a great job despite the language barrier. The food was okay, nothing particularly memorable. Parking is either in nearby lots for large stores or on the street if you're lucky. A heads-up: Google Maps might direct you to the back entrance of the bar. There's also some outdoor seating available, which is a nice option in good weather. read more

I decided to stop in because of the positive word of mouth and its convenient location near the airport, but the experience fell flat. Service was slow and inconsistent. I sat at the bar on a quiet night and was barely checked on. I ordered the Philly fries, which came in a small portion and lacked flavor, especially disappointing for $20. My $20 rum punch was watered down as well. Toward the end of my visit, a DJ started playing some good music, but by then I was ready to leave. Convenient spot, but there are other bars in the area. Talk about the total Bar & Grill experience, funky place, close to LAX with amazing food. A bit on the pricey side, but fantastic. A couple customers tried to give them $hit on their bills and random petty stuff, but they stayed cool, calm, and friendly. The food could definitely have been better. The lobster mac was a joke. It was unflavored noodles with lobster pieces as a topping, not mixed up all the way through it as it should have been. The chicken wings were rubbery, with barely any lemon pepper flavor. So ima give this more stars based on the fact I've grown to know some of the staff there over the years but overall, this place is located near the airport it's cozy but def could use some upgrades with the bar area old and wooden chairs falling apart and have more professional security there. There's some security staff that does a great job like bird, and rob, but the other staff is unprofessional. Stopped in to have some liquid refreshment while waiting to pick up a friend at LAX. Melody has apparently long been the perfect hangout in this regard, though I've only recently discovered it -- and I'm very glad I did. The restaurant is directly across the street from the big and busy In-N-Out that everyone heads to upon arrival, so it's situated just before the ramp that feeds into the LAX horseshoe... it's a quick and easy trip from Melody to all the terminals. This pub is a wide open, brightly lit sports bar with plenty of TV's showing games, lots of energy and a good crowd of locals. Bartenders were all very nice and took good care of everyone during a busy, Friday happy hour. As for the food, well, I wasn't eating because I would be having dinner with my arriving friend, BUT everyone around me was eating, and everything that came out looked and smelled great. Wings come doused in a wide variety of sauces, and seeing them made me very jealous. Burgers looked awesome, and everyone seemed to really be enjoying their meal. This will now be my go-to for pre-pickup waiting, and I'll also make a point of coming here with friends to share a meal even when we aren't heading to the airport at all. read more

After doing a morning LAX run, I had no excuse not to check out Melody Bar down the way on Sepulveda. Parking out front is good for an hour. Since it was on a Wednesday, the special of the day was choosing off the happy hour menu for lunch from 11a-3p (HH normally occurs 3p-6p) so this was going to be a great lunch. Ignoring what I just wrote, I ended up veering off this menu, instead trying their Bacon, Cheddar (minus Jalapeno) Mac & Cheese (I did end up getting a side of fries though). During this earlier time, there were only a handful of patrons at the bar, and a large screen tv right within my view. I sat closest to the kitchen, and noticed there was a hallway leading to some outdoor seating in the back, along with their own small parking lot. Let me say this food was very good. I killed the fries pretty quickly (served with ketchup and ranch). The mac & cheese was another story; bacon was prepared crispy just as I prefer, and it was heavy with the cheese. I ended up taking some of this to-go since I couldn't finish it. Sylvester was heading the bar, and all was good. Returned over a week later (this time LAX pickup) for an official HH, and boy was it the opposite of my first visit. Parking lot was 100% full in back but thankfully was able to find a spot out front. This was packed to the brim with people and a live DJ. Still found a seat at the bar but when that door opened, it was super windy due to the weather outside. This time I tried their beef sliders and Gilroy garlic fries. Once again, food was enjoyable and this was a perfect amount. I'll actually consider more airport rides as long as they are when Melody Bar is up and operating! read more

Super great happy hour spot to go to on a long LAX layover! They have happy hour everyday from 3-6. The food and drinks were great and super affordable. Portions were pretty big for happy hour. The chicken tenders were clearly homemade which was nice, and the garlic fries had tons of actual garlic on them. Drinks not during happy hour are a little pricey - more than double the price than the $6 happy hour drinks. depending on where you sit you can see planes landing which was pretty cool. Service was a little slow, but not too bad unless you're in a rush. They had pretty loud music inside, so if that's not your thing then maybe skip this place. This is a very lively bar/social scene. The drinks are weak & not worth it. The lemon pepper wings are arguably the best in town & my only complaint is the mandatory tip when your tab is over $100 WHICH IS NOT POSTED ANYWHERE - I paid for myself & two others, got the bill noticed it was a tip added of over $25, asked the waitress about it & she explained the 'policy'.
