Came to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great time! Growing up on the east coast, it has a beachside Florida fish restaurant kind of vibe and I wish my stomach had unlimited capacity so I could try a bite of everything. We ordered the Smoked Trout Dip as an appetizer for the table. It's great for sharing and I was impressed that the crackers are made in house. For entrees I got the lobster roll and my friends got the fish tacos and clam chowder. We all trader bites and everything was very tasty and I highly recommend it all. For dessert the favorite here is the warm chocolate chip cookies with Bourbon milk. SO good I forgot to take a picture. Overall the restaurant is cute and beachy and in the back there is even a small bar/speakeasy that's in a separate area. Parking can be difficult in the area with limited street parking so we ended up doing valet which is $5 so not too bad. Most prices on the menu are all fairly reasonable but felt the lobster roll was a little pricey and would have appreciated more meat. read more

Post run coffee and treat in Playa Del Rey. Have been wanting to come to Playa Provisions for a minute since seeing Top Chef winner Brooke Williamson had opened here. Just stopped in for the cafe but I need to give their breakfast and also dinner a chance sometime. Good selection of pastries and the French cruller I went with was yummy but I need to try the others sometime because there was no real WOW factor with this treat. They were a bit slow dishing out the coffees and for a not so crowded cafe I feel they should've been a bit quicker. Good ambience though, beach vibes. read more

This restaurant is located in downtown Playa Delray right by the beach. The restaurant does offer minimal beach views. If you are looking for a parking spot, definitely take advantage of the valet parking. It's only five dollars. Parking is very limited in the area since it is right by the beach. We came here for Saturday brunch. There was live music, which was very nice. The weight staff was very friendly. They do not offer bottomless mimosas. There are lots of fun drinks, including mimosas. For the non-alcoholic crowd you can actually get a very good bottle of nonalcoholic Prosecco. I absolutely loved the Connecticut style lobster roll. It was delicious. They offered lots of seafood and breakfast items. Overall, we had a great time. read more

This is one of those places that I come back to because of the location, not necessarily the food or service. Both are just fine. Food is fine. Nothing on the menu is too memorable, but I do love the ambiance and that the beach is steps away. Parking isn't bad if you go early enough before the dinner rush. Their happy hour is pretty nice. Dockside Restaurant for happy hour (5-6 weekdays) for two adults on a Tuesday: Cute space, modern beachy. Family friendly. Friendly staff, pro server. Went for happy hour which has so many options! We had the arancini with parm and salmon belly, smoked trout dip, and crispy gigante beans (all great). The cornbread and salted date butter blew me away. Finally made it into the restaurant for dinner. Our server wasn't really up on what the bar could make except for the drink specials. He wasn't super helpful. Several dishes were served warm rather than hot and the risotto was so spicy one person couldn't eat it. Dessert menu lacks anything exciting (ice cream? Cookies ?). Came here for a work event last August and we were seated outside -- really cute setting and great coastal vibe. Food-wise, overrated. The branzino was a miss for me -- too salty and I didn't love the sour chili flavor in the sauce. The calamari had good flavor but wasn't crispy (more soggy than fried). Charcuterie board was the highlight -- prosciutto, a couple cheeses, cornichons + olives, honeycomb, apricots, candied nuts, and a little jam situation. Sourdough was weirdly hard and not enjoyable. Mocktails were mixed: Golden Slumbers = loved, Please Please Me = did not please me. Dessert was solid -- the chocolate mousse was actually pretty good. We got there around 6 intending to walk on the beach on Saturday evening, May 30th. We did not have reservations, but they said that they could sit us if we were done by 7 pm. We shared a salad and the fish & chips. Both were very good. Service was friendly and efficient. The chips were crushed potato wedges. Both the fish and the chips had something like curry powder on it, and fennel and turmeric. Different, but very nice. Our food was delicious. I had the ciopinno. The white fish was tender and delicious. Great flavor. My daughter had the steamed mussels and clams she also loved it. We also tried the fried calamari. That was also great. We are doing dry January so we had the zero proof beer and zero proof wine. Not the red one but the other. Our server was great but also big kudos to the gentleman taking our plates and cleaning up in between giving us fresh bowls to discard our shells. Great service. Yes. Yes. Yes. Fantastic concept. Well executed. 4 different restaurant/food sections in one space. On the left: Dockside restaurant: Intimate restaurant for dinner and brunch on weekend. But while it is "intimate" and higher end pricing, it's very accessible ($20-40) and feels very laid back. Beach chic eating! On the right, there's a a visually more laid back lunch side, next to an ice cream/coffee section. A nice bar area connecting the two sides. I had brunch at Dockside. Fantastic! I had the crab and shrimp eggs Benedict. Creamy delicious sauce with generous but not overpowering crab and shrimp. My friend had the salmon salad and shared. It too was wonderful! Crisply lettuce leaves with a gentle, slightly sweet vinaigrette and salmon fillet grilled perfectly. Other than the waiter forgetting my coffee, service was good. I wasn't an issue, I was having a great time! Then we walked the beach - wonderful area without a lot of commercialization. More natural beach, no pier. Then returned for the ice cream and coffee. I was being greedy! Had a matcha affogato AND a large cinnamon roll. It was worth it!!! Top it all off, despite having lots of customers throughout the day, they managed to have clean, more upscale bathrooms. I have to love this place! I'm so glad my friend showed me this place. It's the perfect beachside chill restaurant. Easily accessible to the beach, with great food, sizable bar, and basically everything you could want while chilling on the weekend! Didn't take pics. ZACHARIAH, is the person you ask for when you come here. I've been coming here for a few years and this place never fails. The restaurant is so warm where I've felt to bring everyone I know, even more, just bring myself! The drinks are one thing and the food is another, which for me, makes a restaurant! Moreover, of course, the people. From GM Zachariah, to Liam Tully, Omar, Taylor, these are just the very few people that make this place one of my top places to come to monthly if not weekly! Absolutely would recommend! What makes it so perfect is that it's right next to the beach, where there's an outside patio where they have a little fire pit, they have inside, and also a speakeasy (grain bar: whiskey bar, but all drinks!). We got the French fries, steak sandwich, seafood roll, and clam chowder. Everything was delicious. The clam chowder had good flavor. I wish it was a little bit hotter, temperature wise. The fries were so good. The two sauces that came with the fries were full of umami. The seafood roll was pretty substantial. Their in-house hot sauce was weak. It could use more flavor and heat. I sampled several ice cream and there were all yummy. Service was good. I got a buttermilk biscuit to take home. I heated it up in the air fryer and had it for breakfast 2 days later. It was buttery and still good. If I lived closer, I would definitely stop by for coffee and pastries more often. I was pleasantly surprised with a birthday dessert; panna cotta (Italian dessert of sweetened cream thickened with gelatin and molded) with strawberry. It was delicious. There is street parking and valet parking is $5. Overall, definitely worth checking it out! read more

Really electric restaurant in Playa Del Rey that sells ice cream and also offers a sit down dining experience after 5pm for dinner. During the day, you just order at the counter, grab any seat/table and they'll bring the food out - the menu is really limited though. For dinner, it's probably best to make reservations and they offer a lot of diverse things from really fresh oysters, to lobster rolls, whole lobster, salads, charcuterie, etc. They also offer a kids menu which is a nice touch and crispy fish/fish & chips is even an option. read more

Yes, yes, and yes! The food was incredible! Chef Brooke Williamson's recipes from beer cured salmon toast to the seafood risotto was amazing. Finished off with homemade iced cream made this 1 hour drive worth every minute. The vibe was amazing, they pull the roof back and your under the stars on the beach just soaking in the atmosphere. I've been so curious to try this place after finding out that the chef & owner of this place was from the show "top chef". Husband I came here for lunch & we each had the lobster roll & shared the seafood platter which came with oysters & Peruvian scallops. The oysters & scallops were fresh & the lobster roll had good flavor but I honestly wasn't blown away. Ambiance had a chill vibe & they have bar seating as well. They also sold ice cream next door which is connected to the restaurant. Thought it was different & interesting. Service was cordial & great. Ordered the crispy fish sandwich, mixed chicory & arugula salad with salmon, a cold brew, and iced latte. Fish sandwich was OK but generally lacked flavor and was over-doused with mayonnaise. Chicory salad also with minimal flavor. Asked for extra milk with the cold brew which took 20 minutes to be delivered and was spoiled. Well, this has clearly been my favorite dining experience so far this year. And probably will stay that way for a while. We have always enjoyed Top Chef, and Brooke Williamson was one of the great contestants, finishing as a finalist her first time around and then winning it the second time. I remember Brooke as a quintessentially California chef, who brought a lot of seafood and fresh ingredients to her cooking. Well, Playa Provisions is a quintessentially California restaurant, and I think it may be the standard for "modern" California cuisine. First, I want to talk about the service. I usually have very little to say about service; if I don't notice them, it's probably ok. But Playa Provisions absolutely excelled here. We got checked on a bunch. We were slow to order, and ordered in several rounds. It didn't matter who took the order, it always got brought back to our server. At one point they forgot one of our items. Came back with a free bowl of fries as an apology, and the forgotten item was still served extremely quickly. Finally, at the end, we were running a bit late for our concert (which they knew about), and they helped rushed us out. Just a fantastic experience all over. Ok, the food. I will admit, I didn't look at the menu closely enough when booking the restaurant. I booked this place because of Brooke's name, and because it was relatively close to SoFi, where our concert was. But after actually studying the menu, I was blown away. Every item seemed to have some delightfully quirky ingredient that didn't belong. The ceviche has mango and yuzu? Well, I could taste both the mango and the yuzu. The steamed mussels is in a cashew and serrano sauce? Yep, it's extremely rich and the perfect amount of spicy. The sunchoke tostones has something called an ahi amarillo crema? I didn't even know what that was, but it turned out to be the star of the dish (I later learned it's a Peruvian condiment made with Feta cheese). For the appetizer course, we had the scallops, ceviche, and the fried crab claw. All of them were beyond excellent. The scallops were a perfect bite, with layer after layer of flavor. The ceviche was extremely fresh and Californian. I usually don't like tiger shrimp, but it was impossible not to like it here, with how big and plump they were. And the crab claw was like the very best possible fried junk food you can imagine. In the main course, the crab mac & cheese was almost overflowing with crab. It was delicious. And the sunchokes were such a unique dish. I ended up not liking the sauce as much (I'm really not a fan of feta), but I can still appreciate good food executed well. And the sunchokes were extremely well prepared. Finally, the mussels and clams. I should first note that the bowl was gigantic. We really stretched our bellies to finish it. Second, the shellfish were cooked to the exact right level of tenderness. Finally, the broth. I was tempted to just drink the broth directly. It was so extremely flavorful. It had the brininess from the shellfish, richness from the cashews, spiciness from the peppers, some acidity, and even a little bit of sweetness from the garlic. It was the absolute encapsulation of flavor. Unfortunately, at this point, we had to rush out (and also, we were beyond full). I would've liked to have tried several other menu items, such as a patty melt with gruyere cheese, the purple kale caesar salad (with fennel? yay), the cioppino, and any of the desserts. I will be looking for excuses to visit LA again just to hit up this restaurant again. read more

First impression- the place was packed and we luckily got squeezed in immediately. Nice setting, but I wish we could have sat outside! Parking- It's perfect in terms of distance from the harbor so don't worry about finding parking. Food- Appetizers- Ceviche- actually bomb! Served with terra chips they also had tajin in there which isn't the usual but it was great. Definitely recommend! Entree- melted tuna- My friend got this one and she is a sucker for a melted tuna sandwich. She said it was a 10/10 very enjoyable so she would recommend it Tacos- I heavily modified this so don't expect yours to look this way! They were very accommodating with all of my requests and we definitely talked them through with our server who was great! Drinks - matcha latte - it was alright nothing crazy but not bad! - caramel coffee- tbh not great! I wouldn't recommend it as it tasted extremely sweetened even after requesting it to be less sweet; personally wouldn't get this again but would recommend a basic coffee Dress code- not as lax as the usual beach places; I would say most people were slightly dressed up so no sweatpants people! Overall- Service was great and timely and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend this as a brunch place. read more

This was our first time visiting this restaurant, which was very busy on a Thursday evening when we arrived at about 6:30PM. We were told by the hostess that we could either wait an hour for a seat in the main dining area, or we could go back to the whiskey bar, which also served the same menu. We opted for what we thought was the quieter option in the whiskey bar. We placed our drink orders and ordered a couple of appetizers. The ceviche was very good; the fried calamari (which also had baby shrimp in it for some reason) less so, as it was more soggy than crispy. The service was also lacking, as both of the bartenders seemed preoccupied with the people seated directly at the bar, but didn't pay attention to the surrounding tables. We had to hail a bartender several times to get service. Overall, an underwhelming experience for the price. More than 100 bucks for a couple rounds of drinks and two appetizers. I've apparently been living under a rock!!! This place is clearly a hidden gem in my own city!!! Omar at the bar and Kenneth the server, perfect duo! Great menu suggestions between the both of them! Something like a light manhattan from Omar, simply delicious... Ordered tuna tartare with the puffed rice which was delicious, the rice was a perfect touch! Oysters, nice and fresh, small but meaty! The fried crab claw pop was an interesting take on a crab cake which was very tasty! The Pork chop and yuca frites were a great choice, I'd return just for those!!
