Truxtons was AMAZING. I'm so sad I live 2 hours from this gem of a spot. Anytime I'm in the area I plan on coming back to eat. From the savory monkey bread, to our drinks, entrees, and service, everything was off the charts. Fresh delicious food, and our Server Sam was phenomenal. My drink was never empty, he was so attentive and great to chat with. The restaurant itself was clean, and super cute! Please open a San Diego County location!

You should consider using Truxton's for Catering. They are absolutely awesome. We did a health event at our church and they catered it with great food option we had Ann Veggie wrap, barbecue chicken, and a miso salmon wrap that everybody loved them. People loved all three. We also had the Antioxidant salad and everything was on time, everything was awesome. I have been coming to Truxton for over 20 years and Shavon and help me so many time but this time she has exceeded all my expectations. Tonight I also came in to get a meal. I got the hanger steak, that was very good. Got a side of the sweet potato fries. And that key lime pie. I give truxtons my golden buzzer meaning I can't think of what else they could do to make my experience better. So they get 20 years of 5 stars!!!

My dad and I really like the food here. I try to order something different every time and everything I've tried is consistently good. They have a rather large menu with plenty of options to either eat healthier (think salads with fruits and quinoa) or indulge a craving (think fish and chips). Today we tried their lunch, special combos for the first time each lunch combo is $15.99 and offer offers the opportunity to pick either a super salad along with a half sandwich. When they came out, I didn't initially think it would be enough for me or my dad. But after eating our meals, my dad remarked that it was just the right amount. We had also ordered a large order of sweet potato fries as well to supplement our lunch. I definitely look forward to coming back to Truxton's. Make sure to sign up for their rewards program. They'll give you $20 or $25 to use for your birthday and you earn points every time you dine there to redeem for more rewards. Thank you for your friendly service Sam!

Marcus is an rockstar waiter and made the experience smooth and pleasant. Bloody Mary is excellent and the hanger steak special was so perfect, and the sides very tasty as well. Great atmosphere and staff is really nice. Will comeback every time I am in town.

I have tried Truxton's for dinner a few times in the past, mostly to go or delivery orders but this past weekend I stopped in for breakfast for my first time and really enjoyed it. Inside is really large and open, with many different seating options and rooms. They have a full bar with TVs, giant booths, is well organized, and is in the end a comfortable setting. There is a giant free parking lot attached on the side of the restaurant, so finding a space is really easy. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out extremely fast. The menu here is very large, so there are tons of options on it. For this visit, I chose the 14th Street Breakfast Sandwich and added avocado. I thought it was honestly really good and I also switched to the brioche bread which I would recommend. All the dishes that I've ordered here have been consistently good and I plan to be back many times in the future.

I returned to my favorite American food restaurant where the staff and folks are friendly! We enjoy sitting at the bar to be social! Today George served us and he was very accommodating because we told him we were waiting for a friend and understood we wanted to wait before ordering. I ordered their weekly Special cocktail which is off the menu, so ask the server about it, $10. Today it was a cucumber -mint- lemonade drink! We started with the ancho shrimp appetizer which comes with a crunchy coleslaw with pepitas. I loved Nona's Greek Bowl and my husband ordered the Fish Tacos. I really wanted to order the key lime cheesecake for dessert ( Seasonal Cheesecake), but we were quite full! Most dishes can have the meat switched to a vegetarian meat or a different meat, if you ask your server. Free parking lot in the back.

We decided to stop here before catching our flight out of LAX. The place is very nicely decorated giving a slight feel of sophistication but not pretentious. About half of the tables were occupied. Service was quick but not rushed. We ordered a cup of the French Onion soup and Cherry Cambozola Grilled Cheese and split them both between two of us. The soup was very flavorful with a good amount of cheese. The sourdough on the sandwich was nicely toasted. The cherry sauce was a perfect compliment. We both enjoyed the experience very much and this was a great kick start to our upcoming vacation.

July 20, 2025 | Westchester | After an event nearby & wearing our All-White Attire, I looked on Yelp to find a restaurant nearby! Truxton's caught my eye and what a spectacular choice! Sambal Salmon Avocado Bowl | The Salmon marinated with chili basil was a mouthwatering dance with my taste buds, so delicious! Haha! On a bed of cauliflower and brown rice, avocado... along with Sriracha, chili basil sauce, avocado, and so many other yummy veggies... This dish is an absolute win & I enjoyed every single spicy & flavorful bite! My two friends enjoyed their dishes as well!! Customer Service | Fun, attentive & friendly... and definitely with a great sense of humor! Hahaha! Thanks again, Sam & Bernie! Parking | Free! Shared with other shops and restaurants nearby! Overall | Yes, please! I'm looking forward to ordering the same dish, as it's memorable, spicy, and flavorful... a total win!

    Chicken Tortilla Soup

Stopped by Truxton's for lunch with my sister in law around 12:30. It was quiet at first, then the lunch rush hit about an hour in. Our waiter, Benedict, was great. Patient, helpful, and really attentive the whole time. We both started with soup. She ordered the Caramelized French Onion Soup, and I went for the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Now, anyone who knows me knows I love CTS, but this one missed the mark. The consistency was off and did not feel well developed. It honestly gave "let's add this to the menu and see what happens" energy. I ended up switching to the French Onion, and even then, I still wasn't a fan. What did save the day were the drinks. The seasonal tropical lemonade was delicious, and the Purple Haze drink was even better. Those two alone made the visit worth it. I'll definitely come back because the service was great and the atmosphere was solid. I just won't be coming back for the soup.

Fantastic brunch experience here on a Sunday morning around 11:30am! We waited for 30 minutes since it was busy, but ordered quickly once seated. Note that they do have a bar, which is first come first serve and they play sports games on the TVs. I wouldn't say the interior is anything special in its decor, but it's a well maintained mix of traditional wood and modern metal that gives the place a higher-end feel. Our server and the rest of the staff were extremely attentive, checking in on us frequently throughout our meal. The cafe latte was good, but served in a cup that made it difficult to drink as you had to drink so much foam before you could enjoy the coffee. Foodwise we ordered the strawberries and cream waffle and Pablo's breakfast burrito with a side of fresh fruit. Both dishes were delicious and the presentation was phenomenal! The savory chipotle sauce on the burrito was addicting and the almonds, cream and strawberries on the waffle paired super well together. My only criticism is that the texture of the waffle was dense and tough to cut.

I found this place via Google; the menu intrigued me, so I intended to go in the early afternoon but ended up going for breakfast. I started with a French Lavender '75 cocktail; a mix of gin, lemon juice, lavender syrup, and sparkling wine ($15.50). A refreshing starter though perhaps a Bloody Mary would have been more appropriate as this cocktail should have been paired with a more delicate dish. I ordered the Chicken and Applewood Bacon Waffle ($23.95) as I love fried chicken and waffles. The chicken tenders were tasty as was the bacon. The waffle was okay but not crispy enough for me. I feel waffles served with chicken should be cooked extra crispy as the heat from the chicken softens the waffle on which they're placed. Other than that, it was a fine rendition of a favorite of mine. The menu is vast, and they offer desserts that I love, including mixed berry cobbler and an apple tart. Both were off limits as I'm on a quest to lose the weight I gained on 39 days of cruising, so I ended my meal with a cup of coffee ($3.75). Service from Marcos was fine. There is plenty of parking in an adjacent lot and I didn't have to wait too long to get a table. I'll be back!

    Shanghai Bowl

Not crowded on Tuesday morning. The service was great! Shanghai Bowl, 5/5: would get again! The meat was crispy and the cauliflower was a nice way to keep the carb/rice a little grittier. The flavor was also nicely balanced, it wasn't too sweet or savory. Very hearty and tastes healthy.

Cozy spot that gives diner vibes in the best way. The service is friendly and the ambiance is cozy. The food is good for trying different things as they have a good selection of small apps. The Philippe burger was unique and juicy. Lots of meat and mushroom flavor. Good spot if you want some classic American food. Casual spot for a meal anytime

Ask the Community - Truxton's American Bistro

    Do they do thanksgiving meals?

I’m pretty sure they do. Did you ever get a Turkey dinner from Whole Foods? I highly recommend it!

    What about large groups?

Yes-they have a private dining area that can be reserved for large groups

    Do they offer bottomless mimosas?

No, but you buy a bottle of bubbly and a juice, and it is enough to share for 2 people. It is very reasonably priced.

    Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes. We gave one for Christmas

    Are you open Christmas?

Normally just for catering orders, or take outs placed 3 days prior to the 25th to allow time to prepare

Do they still offer breakfast to go?

Yes, only Saturday & Sunday with a limited breakfast menu, but they open at 11 no longer 9 a.m.

Do they take reservations? I know this place gets crowded

Yes they do! However it's for parties of 6 or more when I spoke to the greeter

Does it deliver to nearby hotels?

I think so but call to double check

Is there a happy hour menu?

No daily specials and a $6 cocktail

We started with cocktails. I had the Mary Sue ("Pornstar Martini") with vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, salted lime, fino sherry, and champagne foam. YUM. Dangerously good. My husband had the Rob Gentile, an elevated Old Fashioned, and was thoroughly impressed. Service was great, and the food was top-notch. Let's dive in! Meatballs with beef, pork, ricotta, potato purée, tomato sauce, Grana Padano, and arugula--WOW. Cheesy, saucy perfection. Beef Tartare with tonnato, shallot, marjoram, crispy potato, and toast. Delicious and a generous portion. I ordered Coop's Pork Shank with Lambrusco-mustard glaze, aromatic jus, and potato purée. Tender, flavorful, and that broth was incredible. It paired perfectly with the broccolini... ...which we didn't order. We spotted the table next to us enjoying it with burrata and immediately added it to our "next time" list. My son ordered the Chicken Parm with capellini. He loved the huge chicken parm portion, which successfully fed his bottomless teenage appetite, but declared the pasta "too eggy." Teenagers are basically unpaid Michelin critics. My husband ordered the Scarpinocc with braised beef cheek, brown butter, sage, and saba. He loved it, but our resident food critic chimed in with, "I don't really taste the beef." Dessert was the cinnamon bread pudding with ice cream and caramel drizzle--absolutely worth saving room for. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we left happy (and full enough to feed a small submarine crew). Definitely coming back!
