Great decor, very clean and updated. We came here for our anniversary with 2 young adults and enjoyed the special mushroom ravioli appetizer and ordered off the summer price fixe menu with some wine. Service was very attentive and after we had the ravioli he asks if we wanted to order a main of it. Tempting!! We had the salmon, beef and tagliatelle. All of which were delicious. Like in golf, if you get 2 out of 3 things pretty much perfect, (driving, pitching/chipping and putting) you can be a winner. The Maple Room has 2.5 down pat and only the ambiance of its Dinning Rm (not their fault - limited per zoning/building codes as well as being a total remodel of the original footprint of the Vienna landmark Amphora Restaurant. The bar has a great vibe, the staff is 1st class and on-site mgmt./owner (Gordon) makes it run to perfection, from being greeted like your family at the front door, to the food purveyors and menu as well as every part of the entire staff. Again, "quality" of the food and its presentation, along with (which i enjoyed the most), the available selection of wines and im talking about wines for "all of us" and well thought out "wine pairings" which for me, can make or break dinner being that much more enjoyable. Since its opening, I have not been there enough (6+ times now) to say one entrée is better than another, mostly because they have a seasonal menu that is always changing. What a great spot located in Vienna! The cocktails were perfectly crafted! The tuna poke and pork belly were absolutely delicious appetizers to get us started! I was pretty excited that this place was opening up, and had high hopes that it would become a new spot for my husband and I to go to. TLDR: food was good, but not great. I'd go back, but it would not be at the same frequency that I go to Clarity. Drinks: I got the pumpkin spice mule. This was really good and something I'd come back for. Hubs got a bourbon neat (hard to mess up). For dinner we brought our own wine (glad we did - looks like they are still building their list and the WBTG were meh at best. Appetizer: started with the carpaccio and shrimp cocktail. Carpaccio was great and it was served with delicious toast crisps. Shrimp cocktail was not great. The shrimp cocktail you get at wegmans is better. The shrimp had a weird hue / sheen to it that might have happened from being overcooked. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't great either. Dinner: husband ordered the wedge salad. I'm not a fan of blue cheese, so I didn't try it. He said it was great and the dressing and bacon chunks were really what made it stand out from others. I got the filet and asked to have it 'black and blue' (charred outside but still rare inside). Most places never quite get the temp right (always overcook it) but this chef nailed the temp perfectly. Sadly the taste of the steak was good, but not great. I had just been to Cap Grille in FFX a week or so prior and their steaks are still some of the best in the surrounding area. For a side we opted for the mushrooms and onions. This was really good - great even. Perfectly seasoned and the mushroom mix was really nice. Dessert: white chocolate bread pudding. The portion was perfect (hate over sized desserts) and all the flavors were spot on. Really enjoyed this dessert. Overall, for the price I wouldn't make this a weekly stop - but it has a lot of potential and I will definitely come back to give it another go and try other options on the menu Note: not going to mention service just yet. They had just opened up a few days prior and they are getting their footing. Overall our experience was good and our waiter was very kind and engaging. read more

We tried The Maple Room a month or so ago and left a little underwhelmed. The cocktails were ok and my wife's fish was very good but I ordered the filet and was very surprised that it had little to no flavor. It was cooked perfectly and a very nice cut of meat but had no seasoning to speak of and tasted like nothing. The fact they charge so much for a flavorless filet with no sides was a bit of a shock. All the side options are meant for more than one person so you get to add another $10 to your bill if you are so inclined. The place is lovely and the service is great. Really great, in fact! I had hoped desert would finish things on a high note but the bread pudding also underwhelmed. The bill was a bit north of $200 and seemed excessive for a so-so meal. Maybe I chose poorly that night. They don't claim to be a steak house after all. I'm just not sure we'll try again. Time will tell. read more

Omgosh. This place was delicious! To be honest I was skeptical-- the reviews weren't great and I don't think the business took quality photos of the dining room. Ignore the bad reviews and bad photos - come experience it for yourself. Staff: Roger was a great waiter! Attentive and kind, never too pushy or making us feel rushed. Order: chicken for starters. My mom was beside herself with praise for the chicken. Perfectly juicy, and a nice crispy skin. I tried a bite too and agreed-- it was very good. I ordered the ribeye - and I thought it was juicy, fatty, and perfectly salted (so everything you want in a steak). My personal favorite though was the Mac and cheese. I asked if I could have it without Lobster and they were unable to fulfill that request-- no worries. I am actually not a big lobster fan-- and i think it is possible to make a rich, heavy dish too rich and heavy. But here---I was able to look past the lobster because it was DELICIOUS. Order this, lobster or not, it was 10/10. We did order the French onion soup but we thought that was a big miss. Additionally, wasn't huge on the oysters. I've eaten bluepoints before and I thought these were large for being from blue point. I would encourage the restaurant to rotate the oyster selection - let's get some PEI, cape cod, and Maine oysters in the mix. Drinks were pretty good but not exceptional. Would also recommend rotating the cocktails, and throwing in some more fresh juices. Looking forward to coming back! read more

My wife and a few friends went to The Maple room 29 days after opening and it was a great experience. So nice to have a high-quality steak and fish restaurant in Vienna. The decor is modern and vibrant with fun music which was not too loud. The place was packed, but we were seated immediately upon our reservation time. The bar area has a very nice seating area that we may just go to next time for appetizers and cocktails. Service during the entire evening was impeccable. The wine list had a variety of good wines, reasonably priced and some more expensive wines for that special night. Open for only a month I would expect a few hiccups for during the meal, but there were none. Bread service was immediate and tasty - water was always filled up promptly and our server was quite attentive throughout the entire 2.5 hour meal. Visited last night for my husbands birthday and was very pleased with the service. We started with cocktails, I had the maple old fashion and he had the 007 which was a dry martini with squid. My cocktail was great, and his was definitely interesting. It's the kind of drink you can only have one of. For appetizers we got a charcuterie board and duck leg confit. I do wish they had more vegetarian appetizers. They have a ricotta dish, but the only veg main is also pasta, so definitely would love to see another option in the future. Anyways, husband raved about the duck leg and the board was beautifully presented. For mains, I had the vegetarian tagliatelle bolognese and he had the branzino. I enjoyed the pasta, however it was definitely a little too thick and a bit more chewy than one would expect. It's clear they make it in house, but could've been stretched a little thinner to help with the texture. Husband enjoyed the branzino with the coconut sauce. Dessert, we split the chocolate mousse and I'm still dreaming about it. Overall review, beautifully decorated, nice ambiance and somewhere I look forward to eating at again. read more

Our wedding anniversary. We walked in and the hostess and waitress acknowledged this. We were not told about the specials (we overheard another waiter telling a neighboring table). We ordered the lamb chops which were TINY for the cost and the price. What we were majorly disappointed with is that almost every restaurant will usually give you a comped dessert for your celebration. None of that offered. We didn't even get dessert and we were surprised they didn't even bring something tiny with happy anniversary written on it. I liked brunch here way more than the dinner honestly! I will say the inside of this restaurant is super cute and if you are lucky enough to get one of the big booths, it is a really nice experience. The servers were super nice and I appreciate that they checked in on us pretty frequently. When I had come here for brunch, I got the shrimp and grits, which was definitely a more elevated version of any kind of shrimp and grits that I'd ever gotten before and it was really good! When I came back for dinner, I tried the ricotta gnocchi, which was honestly the best thing that I had and I would totally have that as an entrée if that was an option; it was so full of flavor and just really delicious! The other items that I had for dinner were not as good. I tried the filet mignon and asked for medium, but it definitely came out more on the rare side, which is OK, but I would've preferred it to be cooked a little bit more. However, the steak was pretty tender and definitely could've used a little bit more flavor or salt or something. The sides were nothing to write home about. The crabcake tasted a little bit too fishy for me and normally that is not my experience with crabcakes so I would not recommend that at all. I also tried the lobster mac & cheese, and the creamed spinach as a side. The lobster mac & cheese was so dry and although they give you a lot of lobster, there was no flavor at all with the dish! I was definitely disappointed. The cream spinach was definitely not like any kind of cream spinach I've ever had before and it was basically just regular sautéed spinach that they put a crust on top of Parmesan. There was hardly any cream in the dish! I would not recommend this side either. I'm not sure if I will come back unless they change their menu, but I will say that their brunch is pretty good. read more

The kitchen was hit-and-miss when we were there. The entrees, particularly the tuna steak, were excellent. The desserts were very good, too, especially the creamiest and most flavorful tiramisu I've ever had. The problem was the salad. I ordered a $14 Caesar salad that I can only compare to airline fare. It was utterly flavorless, no more exciting than a bowl of lettuce. No hint of garlic, clearly made without anchovies, literally no taste. It's not so much that it was bad; it was just...nothing. Olive oil? Parmesan cheese? No and no. Upon further inspection it was clear that the kitchen put almost no dressing on the salad. I mean literally, almost none. Maybe the price of olive oil has gone up! I called this to our excellent waiter's attention and he took it off the check. That's good but it can't make up for the dent this put in our experience. We won't be back. A restaurant this highly rated - and this expensive - ought to know how to make a salad. read more

I am so disappointed at this place. I been there before a hand full and it was not like this. From the start the waiter was helpless. I told him my drink was warm and he made excuses. I asked if the oyster can be small and he brought 3 big ones that I could not even eat. As the food came 3 different waiters kept coming up and asking if we were done. At one point I became so frustrated and couldn't even get a manger's attention. The lamb chops were the worst with absolutely no flavor. We waited and waited for our own waiter to come back and out of hunger was force to eat it. The mint jelly tasted like tooth paste. Everything we explained to our waiter he had an excuse for it. Waste of time, waste of our anniversary dinner and the experience such low quality behavior from such a nice place. To make the matters worst charging 60.00 for 3 small tasteless lamb chops wow. Nice décor. Good service. Food is good, but not memorable. Cocktails interesting but not note worthy. Price is exorbitant for what you get - a poor value! I and two colleagues went for dinner. All three of us travel, and eat out often, so we know what it costs to eat out. We were looking forward to a nice dinner and were prepared to pay for it. What we got... was mugged! One of us ordered lamb chops. He got two lamb chops and nothing else (no sides). With a bottle of sparkling water. $80 with tax and tip. Another ordered salmon and a cocktail. Salmon was $40 and cocktail was $20 (the signature brown sugar Old Fashioned) that was mostly ice. Food was competent , but nothing special. The old fashioned was very sweet, but interesting if not memorable. Again, $80 with tax and tip. I ordered the porkchop and a cocktail. The pork chop was served on a thin bed of mashed potatoes, and nothing else. The cocktail was a mushroom infused, smoked Manhattan with black walnut bitters (one of my favorite bitters). Again, interesting but not something I would order again. The pork chop was competently cooked, but had nothing distinctive. We were told we could order side dishes (for the table) but at $10 per on top of the entrée, we weren't enthusiastic. At the prices I expect a dinner, not an ala carte entrée, and I expect them to be memorable. The only thing memorable was that we left feeling like we'd been ripped off. Cost wouldn't have been an issue if we felt like we had gotten an experience, and a memorable dinner, but that is not the case at the Maple Room. All three of us have eaten better meals for far less money. The Maple Room isn't really trying, they are taking advantage! First time in a long time where I felt like I had been mugged by a restaurant, and actually left angry. Pretentious is not a business model!! read more

It's difficult to get a table at ideal times, so make sure to book ahead (probably a week or two ahead). Walk-ins are welcome but expect a lengthy wait. We started off with a few drinks, didn't take pictures but the forager was beautifully presented and tasted great too. The pinot noir had a nice aroma, and it paired nicely with the prime filet. The crème brûlée was stellar as well, and i very much enjoyed it as a nice finishing touch to the meal.
