I discovered Raymond Marc through LivingSocial after having a rather nightmarish experience at a local GreatClips. I was able to make an appointment for the day after I called with Carly, a fairly new specialist at the salon. I came in on a Friday morning in desperate need of losing half, if not all, of my hair. Years of cheap haircuts, home haircuts (kitchen shears over the bathroom sink situations), and chlorine damage had relegated me to the librarian bun during the workweek. I've had salon phobia for my entire life, so going somewhere decent was a leap of faith for me. I only have soft curls in my hair, but for whatever reason every stylist I go to gives me a half-baked sideways trim. Carly was amazing - she brushed my once-curly, now-frizzy hair out dry and did a rough snip of where she wanted to cut after I gave her general guidance of what I was hoping for. An hour of washing, conditioning, trimming, drying, and styling later, and I walked out feeling 10 pounds lighter and a whole lot better about myself - the consistent stream of compliments I've been getting don't hurt, either! I went in for a consultation after reading all the good reviews here. I have a health condition which limit me to only hair color that does not contain ammonia or ppd. The stylist I met was running late that day. No big deal. Things happened. We had a great meeting. A week later the salon called me a few hours before my appointment time to let me know the products they ordered to use on me are backordered. I found this to be unprofessional that they waited until last minute. My other stylists from a different salon can get their orders the next day. I was disappointed. The stylist offered me to come in and she would try to use products they already have there to blend the grey root. I went there on time. Waited 21 min after and she was not there still. The front desk didn't know and only offered to call her. I left. Later the stylist texted me saying sorry that she went to grab something that might work for me. All of these horrible experience could be avoided if they care and are professional. read more

Saida is a color genius and took such good care of my hair. One random September day I walked in for a nail appointment with Irina (who is the very best) and while talking to her about Game of Thrones I decided I wanted to be Khaleesi for Halloween and wanted to go platinum then and there. Saida said she was up for the challenge and spent four very careful hours making sure I was perfectly toned and the integrity of my hair was preserved!! God was I stoked to see the result. She taught me everything a girl could need to know for a first-time dye experience and hooked me up with the right shampoo and conditioner to stay away from brassiness. About six months later I showed up with grown out roots and asked Saida to make me light purple. We spent a few minutes discussing coloring options and then she worked out her magic AGAIN to turn me into a real life unicorn princess with dimensional lavender/violet/periwinkle locks. It was gorgeous. Again she told me everything I needed to keep the color fresh as long as possible. And it stayed. For months. Until it grew out. Veronica is wonderful! I've seen her a few times for a haircut and she listens to exactly what you want and doesn't over-cut. I used to see her many years ago as at another salon locally. She's very thorough and is honest and she makes sure you are getting the cut you're asking for. I recently came to have her color my roots as well and apply a toner to my balayaged hair that has gotten brassy and yellow. She colored my roots to dark brown to match what my original hair color. I am loving the color she used. I'll be coming back for sure for this service as well as it is difficult to find a good colorist. read more

The WORST Salon ever. Anyone can do a better job than this. My husband just got a haircut today. I don't think he got a real stylist. Beware with A female Persian stylist (she said she is Persian and I can't remember her name.) The whole process took about 15mins and She used a very bad buzzer which pulling hair all the time. Even worse is after she is done, many longer hair are sticking out of my husband's head all over the places. We told her to trim and she just give my husband a straight vertical cut. And after we get home I had to hand cut my husband's hair because there are too many longer hairs. More ridiculously they charged us $65+ tips. This is a trashy salon. read more

I don't know exactly where to start on praising this salon and Heidi. I started going to this salon about 12 years ago. And I've always had a great experience. One of the pluses is the location and the free parking they offer. Second is how they greet you when you first walk in. Heidi - well what can I say about Heidi? As mentioned above I have been a client of Heidi for about 12 years. I get my hair colored by Heidi about every 5-6 weeks. She greets me not only with a smile but with a huge hug. And she talks to me through the whole process making sure I am doing well or asking if I need anything like water or coffee or asking how my family is doing. As for my hair color, she has never disappointed me. I always tell her that she's like my hair stylist/therapist. I come out feeling good about myself - looking all pretty. She's really good for my self-esteem. She cuts my hair maybe once or twice a year and always let her pick my style and length. This is a review for Haley: I am very picky about my colorists and stylists. I've gone through several over the course of many years. I've also bounced from salon to salon in search of just the right person to take care of my hair. Again, I am very picky. My hair is high-maintenance. When left natural and untamed and free to grow, it errs on the side of curly and thick (thank you, Latina genetics, for many things, but most especially my hair; I'm sorry it's taken me my whole adult life to appreciate my natural beauty). HOWEVER, I've done a lot of damage to it over the years, and as a result, it really shows. It's suffered extensive heat and color damage, which has rendered it dry and brittle. It's still curly. Except it doesn't look as gorgeous as it did when I was a teenager (no thank you, early twenties-pre-pre midlife crisis and addiction to at home box-color and heat tools). I came to Haley a few months ago after my hair had been very, very poorly bleached at-home (bad idea), and she rescued it not once, not twice, not three times--but over the last seven months, she has helped bring my fragile hair back from the brink. It's finally on it's way to its true roots and as they grow back in, Haley is very, very carefully working to help my hair not only feel natural, but look like it did when I was a teenager. This is NOT an easy task for her. As I mentioned, it was very, very poorly bleached before I came to her. She has been required to tone it to a brilliant brunette while letting my very dark brown natural hair peek through. I've gone to her three times this summer, and each times she's glazed it and treated it which has been a gentle process of bringing me back to my roots. My head of hair still has a long way to go before it looks and feels natural again. BUT as long as I can keep coming to Haley for treatment, I know that it won't be that long. She's incredibly intelligent and savvy about products, she recommends the right vitamins and supplements for optimal growth and health, and she's so careful with my hair, that I'm not afraid to put 100% of my trust in her hands. Again, I was a serial salon visiter before coming to Haley. But never again will I need to look for anyone else to take care of my hair. I have never met an artist with the level of attention and detail as Haley; it's as if she is working with her own hair when she works with you. Happy Thanksgiving! When asked what I am thankful for at dinner today, I answered the obvious things: good health, great family, happy life, etc. But one thing I left off my dinner-table-list was my hair! I felt so pretty with my cut and color and I love the way my hair looked today (and for the last couple weeks). Which is pretty huge, since my hair is my least favorite physical trait, and it's usually pulled back into a bland ponytail style. I visited Raymond Marc salon and actually got Ray as my stylist! The salon is in downtown Walnut Creek and the place is so much bigger than I expected! There is a private lot out front (get a tag from the front desk for your dashboard). It's totally nice inside - there are a couple of seats, shelves full of beautifying products, and the friendliest front desk I've seen in a while. Natasha was working at the front and I actually stood at the desk and talked with her while I waited (I had arrived pretty early for my appointment). She brought me a glass of ice water and chatted away with me like we were good friends. Once in the chair, Ray took a look at my hair and discussed his plan for me. He then noticed the hair cut from my husband, (guess it was pretty obvious) and took a little pity on me and trimmed it up. I've actually been wearing my hair down for the past couple of weeks just to show it off a little. The cut is really cute, but the color is what I love most. He expertly highlighted my hair and blended the color to match the bottom half of my hair (from my days as a blonde a couple of years ago.) The light tones are subtle but don't go unnoticed. I've received lots of compliments from friends and family. I'm super happy with the result. The salon does all sorts of other services - not just hair! I will absolutely recommend this place to friends - especially if you live or work near downtown Walnut Creek. The salon is huge and the staff are awesome - go check them out! Worst experience ever! Specifically asked the stylist to cut my hair 3 inches only but she insisted to cut it more like 3.5 but she ended up chopping 5 whole inches off my long hair! Now my hair is at a length where it's not quite below the shoulders but not quite a bob..it's sort of in between which is the hardest length to manage without spending more time styling it which i don't have time for in the mornings! And you think it couldn't get any worse? I walked in with a dark brown hair hoping to get golden highlights which i normally get at any decent salon but again my highlights ended up platinum blonde with a mix of weird gray, reddish base because again the stylist thought it's a brilliant idea to lift the base which i didn't understand why but trusted her because in my mind she's the hair expert plus my gf referred her to me so i thought she knew what she was doing. Worst highlights/haircolor of my life! She made me look like i was 20 years older with that ashy, gray, white, platinum highlights with reddish base! One word-DISASTER! So a 2 hour appointment turned to 4 hours because i wasn't leaving this salon if this stylist doesn't fix the mess she did! Guess what?? I left this salon with exactly same color if not darker hair than when I walked in and all i wanted was a 3 inch trim and a basic, straightforward, simple highlights which I assumed this stylist knew how to do since she works as a "licensed hair stylist" after all. But No i got the worst haircut and highlights or lack thereof in my entire life! No way in hell i would pay for the mess she did to my hair. Hence the 1 star for not charging me. I'm sure the other stylists at this salon are great so just make sure you do your research before booking an appointment. read more

Staff is always friendly and accommodating but the real reason I keep coming back is my stylist, Kim. She honestly wants to make you look your best and she never disappoints. Within the last week, in the midst of this coronavirus pandemic, during a 40-45 minute hair cut, my stylist took a deep breath and blew off the recently cut hair on my neck. Really? I've not had a hairstylist use their own breath to blow the recently cut hair off my neck, much less during this coronavirus pandemic, in a long time. I have not color my hair for 3 yrs and kinda hesitant to do it. I want to try balayage, not sure at first what is the difference between the traditional highlights and this one. Haley is easy to talk to.....same interest.....Puerto Vallarta, grew up in HI.....do nothing on vacation....very nice and sweet person. She made sure she delivers what you want her to do. I highly recommend Veronica! When I changed salon about three years ago I called asking for a specific day of the week and I was given Veronica for my first appointment. I went in with some kind of expectations (due to the good reviews I had read about the salon) and with Veronica those were NOT disappointed! She's been my hairstylist since then. I dye my hair black and I like very much the color Veronica suggested from the very beginning. Black is also a tough color (it stains a lot) and she is always super careful not to leave unnecessary stains on my forehead, ears etc. which could stay on my skin for days (even if washed with water and soap after) if not promptly removed. She trims my hair regularly too. She is very precise and careful not to cut more than what I tell her to. Veronica is the best! read more

This is a review for Haley. I don't yelp. But I have to break with the norm. And given the treatment I was given yesterday, it's worth it to write this review. If I could give Haley more than five stars for the incredible work of artistry she accomplished with my hair on Saturday 1/6/18, I would. She absolutely deserves it. I came in with a specific request, and a challenging fix for my hair. Boy did she deliver. Given my hair had been bleached in December, and it still wasn't perfect for me, I came to Haley hoping she'd rescue me from the dusky orange nightmare I'd been living for a month. She was incredibly careful with my hair, not to damage it. She bleached it (again, but so carefully), toned it, did a root shadow... I swear to God that I got up from the chair and walked out of the salon feeling more comfortable and confident in my own skin than I have felt in years. This says a lot about Haley. She completely gave me a huge boost to my self esteem. I don't even want to call her a hairdresser because that's just too ordinary. She's a damn artist. Love this place. Eyebrows: My eyebrow expert, savior and super star moved here so I had to follow her. Mina is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to eyebrows, facial waxing and facials. She is a true artist and I get compliments every time I get my eyebrows done with her. She waxes and tweezes if necessary. She is meticulous and takes a lot of pride on her work. BRENNA IS AWESOME. I went into One South for the first time today, wanting to cut my long hair to a few inches below my shoulder, and feeling super nervous about it. Brenna was so friendly and made me feel very comfortable. She started the cut at a longer length to see if I liked it before she cut it shorter. She even showed me how much she was going to take off before she cut it. I was completely informed through the entire process, and it made me feel very comfortable cutting it.
