Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable and patient, but she also made me feel completely comfortable even though I was dealing with a skin breakout and feeling a little self-conscious. She recommended additional products to help my makeup apply and wear better, and she even helped apply everything so I could see the final result. Gia was kind, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure I left feeling confident. Customer service like this is rare, and I'm so grateful for her help. Needed some quick concealer for the day after a dermatologist appointment. Walked in and was…read moreignored. Tried locating what I was looking for, but needed some help. After walking around for about 15 mins I asked a woman for help and she very coolly told me she was busy. Ok. So it's super obvious I was being ignored. All the women who received help were white and dressed nicely. I call this phenomenon being "Pretty Womaned", lol. In a past life, I was a makeup artist and worked on a couple of film sets. None of the professional makeup artists I worked with who had been in the industry for about 30 years wore any make up. And I stopped wearing daily makeup after dealing with some significant health challenges. Personally, I choose good skin care over caking my face with too much toxic makeup. The reason I bring this all up is...be nice to all the people. Not just the white fancy ones. Or the ones caked with product. You never know who the person is that just walked through the door. Not uneven, not over-shaped, literally missing. The worst part is they covered it up with pencil so I wouldn't notice until I got home. That is completely unacceptable. All they did was refund the service, not even the tip I gave before realizing what they had done. After multiple complaints and constant back and forth, they gave me a $50 gift card, which doesn't even come close to covering the products I now have to buy to fill it in and try to grow it back. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and regret. Go somewhere else.

I set up an appointment with a stylist online and she called to ask what I was looking for, my sizes, color preferences etc. I was very specific- I needed an interview suit for my conservative industry, as well as day to day office pieces and shoes. I also said I was open to jewelry (costume - Nordstrom is one of the best stores for costume jewelry that is still high quality IMO). We set an appt and I cane in and she had reserved a large fitting room and had it filled with suits and separates. Everything in row sizes (I'm a 4 or a 6 based on the designer). Nice job of bringing in both high end and more reasonable prices. No shoes, no jewelry, no outfit suggestions. That was the "style" part I really wanted. Basically for a free service it's a nice time saver to have clothes pulled and ready for you to try on. But that's it. I was prepared to spend a lot of money because I hadn't shopped much in a long time and I ended up with a single suit, a blouse, and a random t shirt I later texted the same stylist to ask if she could pull some options for an upcoming wedding I had to go to. Never heard back.

For some reason my review got "filtered" despite violating none of the terms or conditions. Maybe someone from RM is flagging it to keep business? This Review is for the stylist ALLISON. My first experience with Allison included a cut and color correction. The color came out nice, but the cut, a basic long A-Line with side bangs, came out obviously lopsided. I had to return to have her correct it...it was still lopsided, but not wanting to make a big deal out of it, I decided to leave and just have it corrected elsewhere. I went back to her 3 months later for a root touch up and a trim. First, she burnt my scalp in numerous places to the point where I had multiple, bleeding scabs on my scalp for several weeks. I told her it was burning my scalp, she said that was just part of the process, that it normally hurts. After a few minutes, I told her it had become unbearable, and she quickly rinsed it off. She said that somehow the color had had sufficient time to develop, even though it was only on for a total of 5 minutes, and she said it needed at least 35 to fully develop. I don't know what magic universe this occurs in, but whatever, I went with it. When I left that day I noticed there was something wrong with my hair, but couldn't tell what due to the dim lighting in the salon and thought it was nothing. When I saw my hair in better light, I saw what I dreaded. I had orange hair. I think anyone can agree that the reason women go to salons is to avoid having orange hair when they want their hair dyed blonde. That's pretty much the most basic thing. But, despite having paid 250$ between tips and fees, I had orange hair, obviously from being underprocessed. I could have gotten orange hair myself at home for 10$. I went back to her a second time. Her solution was to put more highlights in my hair, which she said would cover up the orange. It looked ok when I left. When I got home, and put my hair in a ponytail, I realize that the entire undersides of my hair were still orange. Maybe she thought by the time I realize that my hair was still orange, and she had only highlighted the front, that I would be out of the salon. She was right. By this time I was really mad. I set up now a THIRD appointment. I had to wait 5 days, because she was on vacation. I went back, this time with pictures of what my hair originally looked like, and what it looked like now with the orange coloring. She came up with every excuse in the book. Oh, you can't make a judgment from these photos because it's not a true lighting source (there was no outside lighting source). Maybe what you're seeing isn't reality! (Excuse me??) To my response that every single person I had asked said my hair was a hue of orange, someone even calling it strawberry blonde (I had specifically asked for golden blonde), her response was "well maybe they don't know what strawberry blonde is!" When I showed her the scabs on my head, including the photos of these scabs, her response was, are you sure you got those here? I don't remember any scabs! Yeah Allison. It was the other stylist I've been seeing who gave me CHEMICAL BURNS. I asked her why my hair still looked so orange, even after her putting in a second round of toner. She admitted she didn't put it in long enough. She said not to worry though, that the orange color would rinse out after five weeks. Well it's been more than five weeks and it's still there. Reason being: UNDERPROCESSED HAIR DOESN'T WASH OUT: IT STAYS ORANGE! I don't need to go to Beauty School to know that much. I just wanted to check that at the very least, the cut was even this time. When I saw the back of my hair in the two way mirror and looked closely, I was astonished. SHE HAD CHANGED MY HAIR FROM AN A-LINE TO A STRAIGHT BOB. I had only asked for a trim to even things out, to not take off any unnecessary length. For any other stylist, it would be safe to assume that that means DON'T CHANGE THE EXISTING HAIRCUT STYLE. It's obvious she forgot that I had an A-line and in trimming it, turned it into a long bob. By this time I was livid. And of course, she couldn't fix my haircut then, because she was out of time...a trend that had been apparent all three times I had been in to see her. The first, she didn't schedule enough time. The second, she had to leave early to pick up her aunt. The third, not enough time, again. There was no way I was going to spend even more time and money traveling to this salon a FOURTH time for another botched hair/color job. What she told me was that maybe there was some miscommunication. Really? In what universe does GOLDEN BLONDE equal ORANGE? Does anyone, EVER, want brassy, orange, hair? NO! There's no miscommunication there. Just bad technique. As for the haircut that she turned into a bob, from an A-line, without my permission or desire? Unless I tell you to change my hair cut style, it's safe to assume, DON'T CHANGE IT! I never received any form of refund or apology for this ordeal. read more

I can not believe this has happened to me in a place that holds so much of it self. I went there for my second time. My appointments was pushed back an hour so that I and the stylist have extra time to work on my thick curly hair. Sat in the chair for a total of 5.5 hrs, And left with a hair style that looked like Dora. My hair color lady was great. 5 stars to you saida!! (You went beyond your way to accommodate me) Then I moved to the hair cat which again was great. I asked to get my hair straightened and was replied with "no problem my dear". How great! I'm sitting for an hour getting my hair blow dried, when done with that part I expected the hair straightener to get in to position but instead,the stylist tells me: "All done". I wasn't sure I heard right. What do you mean all done??!!! My hair is super curly and if you only blow dry it, it gets Frizzy as if I brushed my curls when my hair is dried (not a good look at all is a complement how my hair gets). I asked to please finish my hair and she said she can't because my hair took longer then expected and she has a client. Plus a straightener style costed more money. Ladyyy, the treatment in your hair salon costs an arm and a leg if I come here it's because I want to pamper myself and leave looking perfect so don't talk to me about an extra 30$ which means peanuts when your total bill will be over 400$ for a color&cut. Long story short. I was offered a male stylist to finish the job. I am a Jewish orthodox women and can't have a man do my hair so my best option was to do my hair with a woman stylist who only had a few minutes. I declined, I felt really bad and disrespected. I spent 5.5 hrs there. I am 6 months pregnant which is hard enough. I wanted to leave looking beautiful. I went to the front desk where the Receptionist looked at me like she does not give a damm and offered me a free hair conditioning treatment. Yes, sure. I'll leave work,drive in traffic,park my car, only to be shampooed for free!!?? What a joke. I expected the stylist to offer a discount, to show me she cares that a client is leaving unhappy. Instead I got a "so sorry, that would be 380$ pls. And don't get me started on the fact that they don't except Amex cards because of there expensive fees. Really?? you will hold such a pricy menu and not accommodate your clients with excepting a major credit card because of fees??!! At least have a sign, note on the front, on your web. Something!! Nope. Just again Sorry but it is what it is". Zero attempt to read the situation and try your every best to help me leave with a smile. Bottom line, They made me feel awfully bad and unappreciated as a client. No woman would like that no matter how good the hair color/ cut is. People that saw me after literally thought I tempted to straightened my own hair and that was thee outcome. I did not mention the names of manager/receptionist or the haircut stylist lady since I'm not trying to shame anyone although the receptionist should norms be working with people. Note to the "copy past" responding receptionist/manager lady: please don't. I don't need you to say so sorry you had a bad experience will will do our best to blah blah blah.. what ever you could do, should have been done on the spot. Ill will take me and my big mouth else where and forever make sure everyone I know that gets treated or thinking of getting treatment will stay away. read more

I had a bad experience from beginning to end with this salon. It is best described as a lemon salon. Looks presentable and professional but all the moving parts are shot. I called the salon to make an appointment for a blowout and special style for my party and asked if the manager could call me back so they could help steer me to the right stylist for my special occasion hair request. Despite several messages, no one called me back. I arrived for my appointment but not before calling to get the exact location. No one answering the phones could clearly tell me which side of Safeway they were at. The front desk staff was courteous and professional. That is why they get the one star. My hair was washed by a pleasant assistant, (only after I had to persuade the main stylist that I must have a wash...I am a avid salon groupie and know that dirty hair styles better but I really needed/wanted a salon wash/condition). It took over 2.5 hours for the salon to wash, dry and style my hair...This was because the stylist Kim started late, walked away several times, and I kid you not answered her cell phone over 10 times for personal calls. I asked her to stop taking personal calls only because I was off to a special event and would miss it because she was distracted and taking so long. Now if the end result turned out great, I would not have been so disappointed. However, despite being very detailed in my request, (I get this blowout often in my SF salon) my hair looked like a fried, teased out rat's nest. She had none of the good techniques for a blow out style. Instead she had to borrow her coworker curling iron (thank goodness the other stylist brought it in, she said) and proceeded with her technique of curling iron, backcombing and hairspray. My friend also came in for a blowout that looked horrible and like nothing she asked for. I think the stylist only knows one cookie cutter do for everyone. To top it all off the salon charged me OVER DOUBLE what they quoted us on the phone. I made a complaint and never heard back from them. I recommend trying ANY of the other hair salons or even barber shops in Walnut Creek before visiting this joke of a salon. read more

I wish I could give this salon a better review as well but I'm not a good liar either........I'd been going to this salon for almost 5 years. I was willing to pay more to get what I *thought* would be a higher quality of service. Over the past couples of years however I've been quite disappointed with the level of customer service and professionalism recieved from the front desk staff as well as w/decisions made by the mangement level upon receiving a service that wasn't done properly. I've lost count of how many times I was called to reschedule (sometimes I received no message and showed up, and was then informed that my stylist/colorist was not available...), and how many 'hair treatments' I was offered when a color or cut wasn't done the right way (instead of offering a refund). I'm still trying to regrow my extremely damaged hair/style from a color that was done over a year ago - I've yet to color it, or style it in the way I want to because it is so split and fried from the products used at the salon. After visiting salons in major cities such as San Francisco and Chicago, I know the level/quality of service I should be receiving for the cost. Heck, regardless of the price, being professional and conistent w/your clientele should not even be a question when operating a business. Being a loyal customer and not one to give up easily, I hung in there as long as I could. I hope this review can be used as constructive criticism because I do think this salon has a lot of potential. read more

I've been going to David for my haircuts, highlights, and balayage for quite some time now, and I have to say that he is simply the best! From the moment I walked into the salon, I knew that I was in good hands. David is a true professional who always listens carefully to my hair goals and preferences. He always gives great advice on the latest hair trends and styles, and I trust him completely to make me look my best. One of the things I appreciate most about David is his great personality. He's not only a great listener but also a really fun person to chat with while he's doing my hair. I always leave his salon feeling relaxed and happy, thanks to his positive energy and sense of humor. But what really sets David apart is his skill as a hairdresser. He's a true artist who takes great pride in his work. I've been a hair model for Louie Javier for years now, even following him when he changed salons. I can truly say that I have never had a bad hair cut by Louie. He always has great ideas, but also respects what I want and incorporates both of our ideas for an awesome hair cut. He's capable of creating a hip- edgy cut or keeping it simple. He works with your face and head shape to give you the best cut possible. If you come in with a picture or idea, he will match it, but will also be frank with you if he doesn't think your hair will do the same. (That happens too often with other stylists, who say they can give you the same look, but you leave disappointed, but not with Louie). He is very friendly and good at what he does. I've recommended him to all of my friends and they have all been happy with his services. I truly believe you cannot go wrong with having Louie do your hair. Having Louie work at Raymond Marc is the best, because the salon has such a great atmosphere and everyone seems happy to be there and are super friendly. Everyone is very professional and nice. I have been going to the Raymond Marc Salon for over five years for one reason, my stylist Ralph Reyna! Every six weeks without fail I have an appointment for color/highlights & a cut and have nothing but five years of positive experiences to share. In 2006 I moved to Santa Rosa, but I continue to come to Walnut Creek because I would not trust anyone but Ralph with my hair, he is truly an artistic genius! I have never once needed to worry about the end result of how my hair will look because Ralph has always had incredible vision and I trust his judgment completely. His work consistently favors the health and beauty of my hair. At the end of each appointment I leave the salon feeling as if I'm presenting the best version of myself. While the whole salon staff is fabulous, I keep coming because of Ralph. He is not only a fantastic stylist but a great person with a warm and positive personality. I strongly recommend anyone seeking a stylist to come in and have the same positive experience. The salon is fortunate to have a stylist of his caliber. read more

My wife doesn't believe in yelping businesses and says it's a waste of time since most businesses pay to filter their accounts, but she came home IN TEARSSS about her hair and I'd like to prevent this from happening to anyone else's wife. I try to tell her it looks okay, mostly because she is pretty and can get away with having NO hair (truth!), but she received horrible hair color with thoughtless application by what appears to be a complete amateur just out of beauty school. There are spots of color mismatching and her highlights are orange. How utterly devastating for us since I gave her this money to treat herself on our anniversary--$170! She also said the treatment was worthless. i guess that's what you get for snagging a last minute appointment. You can change your name, but the same poor quality remains the same! So I have to admit being one of those people who has, on occasion, colored my own hair. Shhh! NEVER AGAIN!!!! You get what you pay for, it's true. Ray is a master at color. He knows what color will make you look BETTER, not what color you THINK will make you look better. DO you think a man with 25+ years experience could perhaps have seen every color combination between hair and skin possible? Yes, more than you! Put yourself in his hands and let him work his magic. Oh, and if you have any sort of hair that you have considered a Brazilian Blowout, yea, you know who you are...DO IT!!! It's life changing! Frizz? No more! Rain? No problem. I had really frizzy hair and went in to see Branden Zych for a new procedure called a Brazilian Blowout. I CAN NOT believe the results!! I no longer have to use my flat iron and that shaves a 1/2 hr off of my morning routine! Plus, I am no longer frying my hair with the flat iron. My new smooth, sleek hair lasts for about 3 months and is well worth the $225. I have gone in for 2 Brazilian Blowouts by Branden and am completely hooked. I can't believe I have gone all these years without it. Branden is a riot, but super professional at the same time. i was referred to Raymond Marc by a friend i had the worst coloring jobs i have ever had. When i made the appointment and talked to Lauren she was rude then and made me think twice about even going, but i trusted my friends word. i showed up to my appointment 5 min early and heard that LAUREN left early to go apartment hunting. i was so angry, but they gave me an awesome colonist named ALICIA. Later i found out that i was lucky she flaked because my cousin went to her a few days latter and came back with blue, orange, and gray in her hair because LAUREN was so inexperienced. went back for a hair cut and had LOUIS and he is the best!!!!!! i highly recommend him. he makes you feel like you r this best friend. he was a sweet heart and my hair has never looked so healthy! read more

Heidi is the best hair color stylist in California. I am entitled to say that because I had color treatment done in Southern Cali, Nevada and here in Walnut Creek. My original hair is brown and I always wanted to be blond. Natural blond, not fake and I had many bad experiences. I had over colored, Over highlighted fried hair, You know that nice orange color at the roots and white fried ends. Well he sat down and explained what was going on with my mess, He talked to me about my options, Keeping up with the highlights, Covering my grey and the condition of my hair. We opted to go darker but keep some of the highlights. Sorry, but one of the worst experiences I've had in a salon. Ray(owner) was my stylist. He was 25 minutes late with no apology. Plus he was so busy talking to other people (giving advice to other stylists, talking to other clients) and hardly paid attention to me. His assistant did most of the work and she seemed disinterested. (She also kept checking her phone for messages and trying to hide it - very unprofessional). So I paid the highest price to get Ray and she did most of the work. He was arrogant and hardly even listened to me. Hair turned out ok, but not worth the price and being treated like a number. Raymon Marc Salon has been perfect for me. I see Raymond & he is amazing with my very blonde hair. He gets it very blonde without it looking trashy or unhealthy. The location is amazing! Any salon I have previously been to in WC also has pretty awesome location, HOWEVER, parking! Only here, do I find a spot every time & thats a huge deal to me.The staff are ALL very friendly & professional. The salon is clean, welcoming & I always leave wanting to come back soon. THE BEST: RAY REYNA Ray did my highlights on Friday... My hair never looked better. I used to drive to Palo Alto to get my hair done. Not anymore, I cant believe how natural it looks. Ray spent approximatley 20min with me prior to my service. He made sure that he knew what results I was looking for. Well I got more than I ever expected. My hair felt and looked healty. I have been going to Sandy for my highlights for 5 years and I can't put into words how good this colorist is! Not only do her highlights look the most natural, but she is AMAZING at color correction. I've tried to color my own hair more than once and had to sheepishly come in and remove my hat to reveal the fried astro-pop I had created on my head. I used to see Annie Martinez when she worked at Changes Salon in Walnut Creek for a couple of years. I was lucky to have been placed in her talented hands. She ended up leaving Changes Salon and I lost track of her. A couple of years later I tracked her down and I am so happy to have found her again at Raymond Marc Salon. Randomly saw a girl in a Safeway parking lot with the cutest pixie cut ever-- I had one already, but it had been growing out. I have, I repeat, I have never approached a stranger on where they've gotten their haircut before but I had such a visceral reaction to how well done her hair was-- that I had to ask her. She told me she'd gotten it done at Fringe and Fern Collective, a salon I hadn't heard of until right that moment, I was beyond thrilled. I called Fringe and Fern immediately and asked after the person who had just done a pixie cut that afternoon and BOOM-- made an appointment with Kyle for the following week! I've kept my hair short now for the past couple of years due to thinning hair especially on the sides. Most hair stylists I've been to have either cut my hair way too short on the sides which always ends up showing too much of my scalp and how painfully thin it is or kept it much longer than I prefer. Kyle will take his time figuring out exactly what I want and manages to keep my hair looking fuller on the sides while achieving the shortness I wanted all around. A hair stylist with that kind of attention to detail has been so hard to find. My hair always grows out really nice in between haircuts as well, which is great. I tend to go 4-6 weeks between cuts. I'm also super awkward at small talk, but Kyle has a way to make you feel at ease which is so important when you're in introvert. lol Fringe and Fern Collective is located on South Main and Newell Ave, next to George's Giant Hamburger and Pacific Bay Coffee and right across from Kaiser. Parking can be a little tricky as the shopping center is in a narrow corner lot, so recommend leaving a few minutes earlier before your appt to snag a parking spot. Anyhow, if you're looking for the perfect pixie cut, look no further, Kyle is the way to go!
