Overall I like this salon, but be careful with what stylist you work with and I suggest you browse through reviews and pictures before taking whoever is available. I'm a guy and have long-ish hair with an undercut I like done a particular way (I have pretty fine, straight hair), and I've been to many different barbers and salons to find the right cut and styling. I recently moved back to the East Bay and came here as I used to be a regular years ago and always had great experiences with my previous stylist and was really happy with the experience I got for what I paid. I was even given the luxury of coming in between normal cuts to have the sides/back of my hair trimmed free or charge, which is really nice when you just like the sides and back at a pretty short length and don't want to pay so much every ~2 weeks for such a simple task. I just had a cut with a new stylist, Kim, and on top of paying more than previously, I was told I would still pay half price just to have the back and sides buzzed between cuts (which really only takes ~10 mins). Kim gave me one of the fastest haircuts I've ever had; it was about 35 minutes, where normally it's been closer to an hour for me. Overall it fits what I wanted but it looks sloppier than I'm used to, the simplest part (sides buzzed with clippers) has a lot of uneven length. I was a bit skeptical but didn't see anything obviously wrong or out of the ordinary in the mirror right away and I don't mind a little heterogeneity in my hair, it can help it look a bit more natural. Kim repeated how good it looked to me many times and I honestly felt kind of rushed out; this haircut was not nearly as involved as my previous ones at the salon, the experience was awkwardly silent. I got home, took my glasses off and looked closely in the mirror and immediately noticed a huge gap where she buzzed my hair down to the skin above my right ear in kind of a funky shape. Maybe this was a mistake because I was wearing a mask and she went too far around my ear, maybe not, either way I'm really disappointed she didn't say anything and sent me home with this ugly huge gap in my hair above my ear and still charged me full price plus tip. I'm leaving 3 stars as my past experiences with this salon and everyone else I've worked with have been great, but this unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't accept these kinds of mistakes for the amount I paid. read more

I am very unhappy, disappointed and not satisfied from the results of the work you have done on my hair. I did asked you to color my hair in blonde and find myself with a gray/silver color of hair. I have plans and and photo shot modeling work to do and now its effect that as well. I am very sad feel bad with my hair. I don't know what to do and how to fix the situation that had done to my hair. I'm not feel comfortable with myself while I'm looking at it. I don't like to bad reviews business but I did try to contact Madison about this situation and she is not responding to me. I don't think this is a respectful behavior for a business to customers. Never had I been here before and I have been looking for a new hairdresser! I met with Sara and coming in I had brassy washed out hair that needed some serious revamping. Not only did Sara give me exactly what I wanted when other stylists would shut me down, she made sure my hair felt extremely soft and healthy when leaving. Got my hair toned and a trim. The trim took her literally 5 minutes. Everything turned out perfect but the price made no sense to me. Yeah it's WC I was expecting to pay$. But $145 for toner and a TRIM of one inch off my hair is a little cookoo... I won't be back simply because of the price. I've usually paid $80 the most for trim and toner at other salons but bad to come here because my salons were booked.. and she didn't even straighten or curl my hair. Blow dried it with a comb. Before Heidi, I went to a Laguna Beach salon where three very talented stylists worked on my hair. Heidi has equal talent and she encompasses all those talented stylists in one. I really enjoy my hair appointments with Heidi because she is fun and personable, she works with my vision and I leave with great satisfaction. I've got horrible hair. It's a curly mess up top, straight on the sides, cowlicks everywhere...I've never liked my hair...until David at now One South started cutting it. For a guy, it's a very expensive haircut but you get what you pay for...it feels expensive when I touch it after. David cuts with a razor, not a soul-less pair of scissors, which adds a lot of character and depth to the cut. I've never been happier with my hair. I'm not much of a fan of the salon, but I think that Louie is awesome and the products used/sold at the salon are my faves. Louie can cut and color. He's listens to what you want and takes his time with your hair, which is important. The location is great because it's downtown and very close to everything. If you're going to get your hair done here, make sure you book your appointment with Louie or Stacie! Kim cut my hair a few times and she was always distracted and talking to other people. Uh hello, pay attention when you have sharp sizors against my beloved head of hair! Ray did my color a few times and he never got it right. I kept having to go back to get the color corrected! I started going here about 2 years ago. As with most nicer Walnut Creek salons it can be a little expensive, but I've come to expect that when getting my hair done. I see Jim MacDonnald and he does an excellent job. He's a great colorist and always gives me what I ask for. I've done both highlights and lowlights and I get lots of compliments on my color. When I went to him my hair was frizzy and frayed from years of highlighting that ended up turning me into more of a blonde than the auburn hair with blonde highlights I was going for. I suspect I was just ending up getting bleached. Well Jim to the rescue! The salon as a whole is nice. Music choice is at times a little laughable. Jim and some other stylists and I were all making fun of the funky 80's/90's crazy tunes that kept playing. They may want to reconsider the one responsible for the radio. Everyone is very nice and I'm always offered water or coffee. Got to keep hydrated and caffeinated, because as you ladies know a hair appointment can last over 2 hours! Magazines are aplenty, so keep updated on your Kardashian gossip and who Taylor Swift is dating or breaking up with this week. Jim does a great job and I highly recommend him especially if your hair needs saving from a dye job gone bad or overzealous highlighting. read more

Veronica is AMAZING!!! Veronica is the best sylist I have EVER had the pleasure of having do my hair. I tried her out based on all the 5 star Yelp reviews I'd read on Veronica, and I found out personally all the 5 star reviews are totally deserved. After she cut my hair the first time, I went back to my office the next day and three different colleagues came up to me and said "This new stylist gave you an incredible cut. You have to stick with her forever! Seriously, don't ever change stylists." I first started visiting her at Mika Salon, and when it closed in Feb. 2011, I followed her a couple blocks away to Raymond Marc Salon. I have short hair, and she's a genius at cutting, coloring and styling it. I recommended Veronica to a friend and she's now a devoted fan and loyal client as well. Wait, I'm confused, why has nobody reviewed Kim? She is phenomenal! Kim only does haircuts and she gives a damn good one. I am really picky about my hair and rarely walk out of a salon feeling confident about my hair, but after my cut with Kim my hair looked beautiful and healthy. She is also very sweet and easy to talk to. I scheduled my return appointment before walking out the door, something I never do! Sadly, I found some shenanigans going on around the salon to be very unprofessional. I mean, why were employees dressed like literal prostitutes? I know that happens in many salons, but a dress code never hurt anyone...And is there not an employee lounge where staff can gossip and eat snacks? Ever since I moved here, I've been bouncing around and looking for just the right person. Tracy is a keeper for sure. I am so happy that I can just sit down and not worry about anything. Tracy is a master colorist and my highlights always turn out to be just the way I want them. The very first time I came to Tracy, I was so miserable. My hair was a mess. Tracy assured me not to worry and she did a complete color correction on me. She also fixed my bangs which were looking like I was twelve years old. After she was done with me, I was so happy and relieved. I was feeling like a whole new person. On top of it all, Tracy is very professional, easy to talk to and down to earth. Haley is literally the best thing to happen to blondes since purple shampoo! Ok, in all seriousness, Haley is amazing with blonde hair (and you actually won't even need the purple shampoo). After a very thorough and thoughtful consultation she took me from dull and brassy to bright and blonde without compromising the integrity of my hair (is she a wizard?!)! It's the first time in a long time I've gone to a new stylist who simply knocked it out of the park first go. Blonde hair is tough- you either get it, or you don't and Haley definitely gets it I am so happy with my color and will absolutely be returning to have Haley work her magic! read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Haley and One South Salon!! I came in for a color correction (yellow/brassy blonde color) that had been recently done at a salon in the city. Haley is a color magician!! She turned my yellow blonde into the most beautiful soft, wheat blonde, while also using a treatment to preserve the health of my hair. I can't wait to come back and see her again!! Not to mention she is lovely, welcoming and easy to to talk to. Side note: ample parking and the salon is big, airy, and spacious. My stylist is Annie. She is awesome, honestly. I found her after spending around 5 years stylist shopping because of the following: 1. They didn't listen 2. They didn't listen 3. They had no idea what I was talking about 4. They didn't listen I was referred to her by a coworker who has adorable hair. The cut is always cute and the color is awesome. I have been going to Annie for almost a year. I've had four cuts and they have all been awesome. When I told her that my HAIR liked a razor, she knew why and that's what she used. You wouldn't think that finding somebody who knows what they're doing and actually does it would be hard, but it is. Especially when you have fine hair that doesn't like product. She isn't afraid to tell me what she thinks (I tried to get her to give me a Kate Gosselin...but it was a no go! Darn.) but she doesn't let me go all willy nilly with a haircut that I won't like...or maintain. Her cuts are quick, today's was 30 minutes, styling included, and she takes a kind of organic approach to my hair. I think she is one of those rare people that can actually feel what my hair will do, and how it will look when it's dry. She rarely has to clean it up after cutting it. Maybe my hair is just happy to find somebody that can do it. She's pricey, but worth it. Especially for somebody who is pretty easy to please as long as you LISTEN to what I have to say. I am not afraid to cut my hair...it will grow back. But really, a pixie that I didn't ask for is not something that will keep me coming back (another salon, another review!). read more

Found this salon about 2 years ago when I moved to Pleasant Hill, but I went there for Saida and Carly and they just moved to Phoenix Salon on North Main. I can also recommend the esthetician Zari... I've had my eyebrows waxed and colored, and eyelashes darkened (I have blonde tips so the length gets lost)... she is very friendly and doesn't rush you. Parking can be hard... they have a small free lot in front, but if that's full you can go around the corner to a paid structure. read more

Go see Louie! I am very picky about who does my hair - it's wavy/curly and fine - and was having trouble finding a salon. My boyfriend actually suggested this place (haha) and I am so glad that he did! We both see Louie now, and he is amazing! His cuts are always on point, he is super friendly and chatty, and all in all it's a very enjoyable way to spend two hours. Plus, his blowouts are amazing. I would recommend him to anyone. Since moving to Walnut Creek about 2 years ago, I've struggled trying to find a salon that will treat me like a human despite my squishy physique. One salon saw that I was coming in with a coupon, the receptionist looked me up and down, then changed my stylist at the last second, and the girl did a complete hatchet job. I've been cutting my bangs, and driving all the way out to Folsom to see my old salon when I needed a haircut since then. Then, I passed the Raymond Marc Salon one day, and thought I'd give it a try. I called and the receptionist there was nothing but courteous, and professional. That didn't change at all when I went in, they were very sweet, and got me something to drink right away (their cucumber water is delicious!) The stylist they set me up with was Heidi, and there's no way to express my love for Heidi. She transformed a crooked haired troll into a beautiful swan. I came to her with long, self-cut hair, no discernible lines, and a tiny bit of greys. It was all over the place. She turned that into a beautiful a-line cut, that was impeccable, in a gorgeous mix of very dark brown red. I've had a-line cuts in the past, and Heidi is a complete pro. Also, bonus, she's really funny and sweet, and she sings! A total rockstar! I love this salon, and would wholeheartedly recommend it, and stylist Heidi to anyone! read more

Interesting story for me here... I was sick of the crap shoot of $15 hair cut farms so since my life is structured now to eat steak more often I figured let's give a nice salon like this a try! Plus there was a first time client coupon on the website! Boo yah! (The coupon on the website says it expires 11/15/2013 but if you call them first they will still honor it. I'm generally a nice and jovial guy but I don't really seem like that on the phone. So when I first called there I directly asked the helpful receptionist "Who is the best at cutting guy's hair there"? She was at first politically correct and when I kept pushing.. She said Heidi was one of the best.. I asked if she was saying that because Heidi was right next to her and she proclaimed her honestly.. I met with Heidi and she is a really sweet gal who is super bubbly. I told her to give me some ideas on what to do with my hair. She recommended a cut based upon current trends, and the shape of my face genetics blessed me with. =p The haircut ended up being amazing. I keep coming back. To be frank the haircut is going to cost 3-4 times as a haircut farm (Supercut's - I'm looking at you 8-/...) but if it's done properly and makes you feel amazing everyday then its more than worth it.. Heidi is still not on the Salon's website.. What's up with that! Getting your hair done by a trained professional in great environment is an experience! I loved mine here. I'm a picky, average guy. I recently found this place and so far so great. Very professional, I had the pleasure of getting to know Haley and she is absolutely no doubt amazing at what she does. She cares and listens to what is it that you are there for, she paid attention to detail in every step of the way coloring my hair. She cut my hair and corrected my hair color as I wanted to go darker and the result was as wonderful as expected, she placed the highlights in a way that looked very natural and enhanced my features. Typical salon. Lots of chairs, lots of people, lots of expensive products in the windows and lining the shelves. I called on a Saturday and the got me an appointment within an hour. My experience was so-so.... It was somewhat of and emergency, so basically anything this woman did to my hair would have made it better. She did a good job, she is obviously classically trained. She kept the length and did exactly what I asked. I wasn't overly impressed, but I didn't have a bad experience either. Save one, and luckily she doesn't work there anymore. Pretty sweet that they're giving 20% off for Carly. Don't be mistaken, that discount is only there to help build up her client base in her new location. I'd get to know her now before the promotion is gone bc this woman is good enough to charge whatever she wants. She's patient, informative, transparent with everything she's thinking about the cut and incredibly easy to talk to. $50 (didn't see the discount until i wrote this revoew so mone was a little more expensive) is a lot for a guys haircut, but Raymond marc is worth waiting the months that I do between cuts to have a true craftsman sculpt this mane. It's not often you go somewhere and get taken care of by the owner. I was fortunate to have that happen when I went to Raymond Marc today. I am a blonde. Have been since I was a wee child. Unfortunately somewhere along the way my hair changed it's mind and started coming in darker. I could not let this happen, so I became one of those girls who needed to die their hair like once a month. Being the overachiever I am, I figured I could do my own hair and it would look fine. Cue several years later, where good-sized chunks of my hair were substantially darker than the rest, due to my inability to reach the far ends of my scalp. That's where this salon came in. I finally had enough of my obvious shortcomings, and decided to do something about it. I haven't been to a salon in years and had no clue where to go. Luckily my boyfriend came to the rescue and suggested Raymond Marc. I was slightly apprehensive because of his lack of, well, any hair at all, but decided to give it a shot. Ray was a freaking rock star. He was friendly and honest about my situation and did everything in his power to fix it. His assistant, Bree, was also so sweet. I made my first appointment with Heidi back in August based on other Yelp reviews. I am pretty particular about my shade of blonde, and Heidi did an awesome job matching my color with highlights. I have a lot of hair (which can be exhausting for a stylist), but Heidi took her time and did a great job not making the highlights too chunky. I just finished my second appointment with Heidi and have again been impressed with her work. Salon staff is very friendly. There is a small parking lot (front desk will give you a permit to put in your window) but arrive early just in case you need to hunt for parking. read more

Well I originally yelp'd salons and I came upon this salon and really liked the reviews - I wasn't worrying about cost because I was chopping almost 10 inches off, i wanted a great quality haircut if I was gonna go chop off my beautiful hair.
