    Omelette with rye toast

Finally got a chance to check out the Market restaurant. Ordered an omelet with toast for breakfast. The omelette was a great size, very fluffy and full of the toppings. Can't go wrong with a perfectly cooked omelet to start the morning.

This place is just down the road from my work, everyone was recommending their food and orders from here on a regular basis, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Ordered a chicken Caesar salad for pickup. Swung by to grab it, went to eat it at work... Dead mini roach/horrifying bug inside. Can't speak for anyone else. Made for a rough lunch for me.

I've been going to the market for probably 9 years now. Everyone there treats you like family, and the food can speak for itself. I thought I would share some of my favorite with you guys. In this picture is the CCC. It's a chicken chipotle club and is life between two buns. You can't go wrong with their breakfast. 2 eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and toast is my go to. But you MUST try their corned beef hash! Do yourself a favor and try the entire menu, you won't be disappointed.

Wow, breakfast was actually really good! I stop by here during the regional market in which they are open in the mornings. I grab either a sandwhich or a plate of breakfast. Last visit I had 2 eggs, bacon, homefries and toast. This meal was very well done and only for about $7.50. Eggs were fluffy and bright yellow, toast was not too buttery, bacon was crispy but not burnt and homefries were very good. I really liked the homefries from here. Not super heavy and flavor wasn't super boring either. This place is not fast food as stated on the plaque at the counter, so expect to wait about 15 or so minutes for your food when they're busy. During the market, they are very busy. They also have an Uber Eats option which was something I was not expecting from here. Well, I can't see myself coming here when I'm not already there for the market but I mean this location is cool. On the edge of the regional market in the middle of Hartford's version of no where. Great food for good prices. I just need to find more reason other than market to come here. Maybe I'll stop by for lunch one day to see what they can do.

It's breakfast time. You're tired of the usual breakfast classics. You want something different. Give the Breakfast Burger a try! It's American cheese, fried egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo. I ordered mine with a side of homefries. Delicious! The prices are great and you walk away ready to face the day. They're open till 2 PM. Also try the Farmer's Market omelet. It's just as awesome!

What this place lacks in space, they make it up in the quality of their food. Place holds probably 20 people or less for sitdown eating but, looks as though take out is what most do. First time here and I will be back when I'm in the area. The food was amazing!!!!! Friendly staff, great service and amazing food. Keep it up and thanks for a dining experience that exceeded my expectations.

"We've taken all you've given But it's gettin' hard to make a livin' Mr. President have pity on the working man" (Randy Newman) The working man sure has a friend here. How about a $5 burger? How about $3 breakfast sandwiches? How about three-egg omeletes between $3 and $6? Get the picture? Market Restaurant is a very cool No-Frills place that feels like quite a bit more. When you walk in, you'll see a big blackboard divided into five columns- one for breakfast, sandwiches, quesadillas, salads and burgers. Each column is filled with its respective menu selections, all written in colorful chalk. You order at the counter and give your name, which is eventually called so you can pick up your tray or to-go bag. I ate in yesterday, and the dining room was pretty crowded, as were some of the outdoor picnic tables. My name was called in 15 minutes, and I grabbed a stool by the front counter, My lunch was a very good Cobb Salad ($7.50) with super fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, a sliced chicken breast, cucumber slices, a hard boiled egg, croutons, bacon sprinkles and croutons. This is a very cool place where you get solid food at a rock bottom price in a place without one milligram of pretension. They are located on the premises of the Hartford Regional market and are open from 6 AM -2 PM Monday to Friday and from 6 AM-10 AM on Saturdays during the market season.

Excellent place for breakfast or lunch... easy to get to, plenty of parking and good quality food & service! I've had several wraps, salads and omelets. Great workday escape to... and unlike downtown you won't see 10 people you know!

Burger and fries for a little over $8. A fresh meat patty makes such a difference and that BBQ sauce mmm! I wish I had more

Heard from multiple people who work at the Colt Gateway that this place was worth the trip and it really was. Located near the old train tracks regional farmers market, you wouldn't expect a restaurant among all these commercial trucks. The hours here are limited, but please make a trip. My reviews don't usually come with pictures, but I want to let my fresh rodeo burger and crinkle cut fries speak for itself. They had homemade BBQ and hot sauces, the place is packed. They feature photos of the farms they partner with, this is such a hidden gem! Nothing on the menu breaks $10, I think the most expensive item is $7.50

Buffalo chicken grinder $6.50--no Pickle. One cutlet total, maybe.
    Chris D.

I had the Buffalo chicken grinder for $6.50 and even though it was good, I felt bamboozled because it's actually on a club roll, NOT A GRINDER ROLL! Look, it's Hartford, CT... So if you call it a grinder, you gotta represent better than this. You get about 1 cutlet total, that's been cut into 4 pieces and stacked to looked as if you're getting more. Look, it's simple. Call it a sandwich, charge $5 and be done. As I did enjoy the SANDWICH, as I ate it, I felt annoyed by it. I see a pic of the same sandwich 8 Mos ago and it was $6. For an extra $2, drive up the road 5 minutes and get a REAL GRINDER. - I'm so P. O. 'd as I write this. I wish I got a burger instead.

Luckily I was able to find parking and there was a line waiting to go into Ken's corner. I didn't mind the wait since I really wanted to eat here. As I mention it was my first time there, we ordered the coconut French toast and shared the surf & turf egg Benedict. Everything was worth the wait and tasted amazing. I'm already planning my next visit to try something else on the menu. Food came out presentable and hot. Glad I came here because it's prob one of the best breakfast spots in the area.

And although busy with a line that literally went out the door, the line moved quickly enough that I didn't regret waiting. The food was outstanding, chocolate chip pancakes with some berries, a side of bacon. (two sides if I'm being honest), and a green tea. I sat outside, as it was a perfect early June morning. My only complaint had nothing to do with the restaurant. Someone in the parking lot was smoking pot early in the am and the smell was very strong. I'm no prude but for f's sake use your brain people - there were lots of children around. Not smart! The waitress was personable, the price was reasonable. Overall, an excellent experience. Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.

When I arrived I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Basically my reservation was useless. The 2 greeters made no attempt to address this whatsoever and didn't care at all. We decided to wait at the bar 2. The bar was not crowded with a couple of bartenders. We placed our order. The bartender looked like she didn't know what she was doing and greeted us with about as little enthusiasm and happiness as possible. (Maybe she was having a bad day). She didn't seem to know how to mix two drinks; a manhattan and a Negroni. She couldn't answer our question about what gin she had at the bar and just told us to ' look' as she pointed behind her. Then it took about 10 minutes for three drinks to arrive; the poorly made Negroni, a Coors light in the bottle (she never asked if I wanted a glass), the wrong glass of white wine that she had to redo with the correct one, then after 5 more minutes the manhattan arrived, also made poorly. She didn't charge us for that drink due to the delay saying she had to wait to get the vermouth. That's an odd excuse from a bartender. I've been a paid bartender, I know what to expect and she was just horrible. I'm sorry but that's a plain fact. If she worked for me I would have fired her on the spot and took over myself. 3. By this time, about 7:50, we were seated at an outside table. The crowd was dying down but our waitress was less than attentive and certainly not prompt. We have dietary allergies that she promptly noted but did nothing about as she said she would check wth the kitchen about of couple of possible choices we had interest in, but never came back to give us the answer. Now being quite impatient, we ordered anyway based on the menu description. One appetizer could not be eaten because of the allergy. We asked for the wine list, that never arrived, and it was 10 minutes until she came back to the table, but we ordered without it. The waitress seemed like she could care less about how we were doing or how she was performing her job. After dinner, ironically, the manager stopped by to ask how everything was, but we quickly said things were OK only because it would have taken too much time to make note of everything that had gone wrong. By now it was after 9 and my reservation was at 7. We had to leave. Suffice it to say, we won't be back. A sad overall experience indeed. I don't expect this restaurant and or management will be around for long as I have no reason to believe we were the only party to endure this horrible dining experience.
