Hi-ya! So we ate here one evening and while when traveling everything is pretty expensive, but this place--was actually priced really well. Kids menus were only $10, and sure adults were normal priced, but the kids menus were actually portioned generously of course included a drink and they included 2 scoops of ice cream for each meal at the end--again for only $10. The salad was good and the presentation of how it was served was unique and had some fancy meat I can't spell it--porchetta? We ordered the meatball Mac and cheese, beef stroganoff, pizza, breadstick appetizer, salad, kids meals, and cocktail. I think bill was like $185ish with tip. Service was decent, and ambience was solid. I can't give 4 or 5 stars because the flavors didn't wow us to that level, but it was nice to sit down and it was next to our hotel. read more

We had a lovely meal here. Our server Petra was very good. Apparently the evening that we were there was the 1st night of the new menu. I asked Petra for suggestions from the menu and she very kindly made some suggestions. We shared an order of beef cannelloni and a pepperoni pizza. The food was very good. The focaccia bread that came with the cannelloni was served hot and was also very good. Wine prices were reasonable. The servings are generous and we were both full. Good food. Good value read more

We stopped by on our vacation in Banff and really enjoyed our dinner! We got the Chicken Parmesan and the Herb-Crusted Rotisserie Chicken, and both were delicious. Only the "lounge" part of the restaurant was open so there were only 7 tables - the service was a bit slower than expected for such a small crowd but we were in no rush. read more

Doesn't live up to its name. Had dinner there tonight with the wife. We ordered a Caesar Salad to split, and it was fabulous. Wife ordered the Elk & Wild Boar Meatballs over penne, which was pretty good. Her meatballs were tasty. I ordered the Bonnie & Clyde meatball appetizer as my main. Big mistake. After 40 minutes, what arrived were 8 of the smallest meatballs I have ever seen. I eat meatballs often, and make them often as well. I am a big fan of meatballs. These were abnormally small, and not at all flavorful. For $15 I would expect 3 or 4 decent sized meatballs, but no. If you put all the meat in each 4 ball section of the tiny plate they come out in, you might get one decent sized meatball. Do yourself a favor, don't order the Bonnie and Clyde meatball appetizer. I wish I'd sent it back, but I was very, very hungry. You know what? I'm still hungry. read more

I tried the spaghetti and meatballs pasta and the lamb pesto pasta. The spaghetti and meatball sauce was pretty good--flavorful and had a lot of different ingredients. The meatballs were oddly hard and chewy and lacked salt and seasoning. The lamb pesto pasta was not good. I could hardly taste the pesto and overall lacked flavor. I was hoping for a fresh, strong pesto but the sauce tasted like milk. The lamb pieces were ok--I personally didn't really thinking went well with the pasta. Came here after skiing. Wanted some pizza. The name sounded good. Ordered margherita. Took extra long to cook because brother in law order custom grilled chicken on it. When the pizza came it looked very unappealing. It looked somewhat burnt and looked nothing like margherita pizzas I've had before. While I thought the crust was the best part, my friend referred to it as shards of glass. The tomato sauce was very unflavorful. The cheese didn't seem right for a margherita. The basil didn't seem fresh. Not recommended at all. Find another pizza place. read more

We walked into the hotel and went down stairs to this restaurant. There were only about 5 tables occupied around 7 on a weeknight. We were seated right near the front of the entrance and I didn't appreciate the menus were located by my head and the servers would be picking up and placing them. The server brought us water and menus and informed us of the soup of the day. The menu had pastas, pizzas, and entrees to choose from. I decided on the spaghetti with lamb and beef meatballs for $17 and my friend ordered the ham and pineapple pizza on thin crust for $16. I was facing the kitchen and could see the chefs preparing the meals. I wasn't so impressed when I saw one of them use his fingers to touch the food on a plate. Hopefully his fingers weren't in his nose or elsewhere before this. Our food came out in a reasonable time and my meal had 3 large meatballs with the pasta and sauce with chunky vegetables. The meatballs were tender and flavourful and I quite enjoyed the vegetables with the spaghetti. I also tried a slice of the pizza and liked the thin crust and taste. The pizza was 8 slices so it's good idea to share it or for a very hungry person. Good food and service and would try this place again. read more

We had dinner at The Meatball instead of walking all the way to central Banff, and were happy to have stopped. Thursday was "25% off full bottle" night, so we enjoyed a bottle of Mission Hill 2006 Reserve Pinot Noir to go with our Cream of Smoked Salmon and Celery soup, salad, and a "Best of Beef" pizza. The pizza was ok; the soup was really nice! We sat in the lounge, rather than the restaurant, so we could watch the foot traffic on Banff Avenue; the bartender was very helpful and friendly and made the meal more enjoyable. Oh man, this was the worrrst meal we had this whole trip. Where to begin... Service Our waiter was very rude and would give us looks while we were ordering and asking for water. They would leave our water glasses empty for at least half of the meal. We had to continuously ask for refills. The food also took forever to be cooked and served. On top of that, groups of 7 or more had an automatic 18% tip--we definitely would have given less for this terrible service! Food I tried at least 5 of the entrees that were ordered and all them tasted meh. The salmon with the risotto--the risotto was completely undercooked that i tasted the grains. My chicken parmigiana (like the easiest meal you could make) had the blandest spaghetti. Everyone else's dishes were just terrible tasting. Super friendly staff. That's the best part of this place. We had 3 different pasta dishes and all of them tasted like sauce from a jar. When you're paying upwards of $20 a dish it should taste better than cafeteria pasta. Do yourself a favour and eat somewhere else unless you have very small children who need bland food. read more

Came here on a Tuesday early evening after a full day of exploring. Was with a big group of family (7 of us) and we wanted to get some food/drinks. Lucky for us, we arrived 15-20 minutes before happy hour ended! Sweet - $5 pints and $3.75 high balls so we obviously took advantage and had a few. Food wise, we were only going to get a few dishes to share and eat lightly before dinner but then we decided to just order as we were starving. We had: - La Vita ($17) - pizza with chorizo sausage, ham, bacon and mozzarella. - Capone ($17) - pizza lamb/beef meatball with mushroom and red onion. Both pizzas were pretty good for bar food. Chorizo had a nice spicy kick to it. Both had good amount of cheese and crunch to it. - Baked three cheese & chicken macaroni ($12) - my cousin ordered this and I had a taste. Decent but nothing popped out for me. Came with some garlic bread slices. - Fish and Chips ($12) - I ordered this and I was surprised how good it was. The basa fish was battered and fried perfectly. Not too oily or deep fried. Nice crunch and super tender, tasty inside. - Meatball and spaghetti ($12) - your classic lamb/beef meatballs over spaghetti. - Baked Lasagna ($11) - baked beef lasagna. Didn't try this but my other cousin liked it. Anyhoo, this place was decent for a quick bite and some early happy hour drinks. Would have been nicer if we had sat on the patio but it was raining/drizzling while we were there. As long as you don't have any high expectations food wise, you'll be fine. Do not come here. Food is not good and service is lacking or slow. Ordered the chicken carbonara, baked lasagna, genovese pizza, Dan bambino pizza, plate of cod, calamari, Caesar salad, and regular salad. Everything except the calamari and salads were bland. We were staying at the Ptarmigan Inn in Banff, and ordered room service from Meatball. We were expected a run of mill hotel restaurant experience (ie, bland and generally foul), but were pleasantly surprised with a very good meal. We ordered the Chicken Supreme, which came with an excellent walnut risotto and a sprig of rosemary. So delicious! The chicken was stuffed with ham and Gouda, and wasn't too gooey or overwhelming. A great dish. We also had the La Vita pizza, which included bacon, bruschetta and chorizo sausage on a thin crust. It was a great pizza, filling but not too greasy. Stayed at this hotel overnight on a Friday. Had dinner that night and was excited to try the vegetarian lasagne as it sounded great on the menu. Very disappointing! Service although was friendly was terrible as well as the servers took ages to greet us, receive drinks, take orders, and to take payment. The gluten free options for one of my celiac friends was wonderful, as almost everything including all pizzas and pastas are available to her. Another positive was the continental breakfast. It was a nice surprise to find out they make omelettes to order and you can take it back to your room. Overall it was a pretty decent place to stay overnight especially with the breakfast, but I would not recommend having dinner here. read more

After the most hated popular Jersey Shore tv series came out.... The Meatball Pizza & Pasta decided it had to be a a f*cking whore and scumbag to it's customers as well. (google: Meatball -jersey shore linggo) We went to Banff and decided to at least have our first dinner at a really swanky looking restaurant. Came in....the restaurant -which is a floor level down from a hotel lobby..is CLOSED..without any sign by the door... Even their damn menu with the schedule didn't say so.... Some dude at the bar was cleaning...saw us there...and waited 10 minutes before even recognizing us. Cory asks if the bar was open.. Guy said... "In a little bit.. Restaurant is closed, but we serve food at the bar"... Cory and I waited by the hotel lobby... waited...waited... NOTHING..... Guy at the bar decided to chit chat with one of the hotel front desk staff.. passed by us a couple times and said NOTHING.... Fck HELL no we're giving this place any business. I write this review from the Chili's down the street which, despite offering unremarkable dishes prepared in a microwaveable plastic bag, provides a better dining experience overall. Their selection is limited to pizza and traditional Italian dishes. The prices were high but reasonable for the area. I ordered the Chicken Parm which arrived slightly burnt. The portion size was small. My wife ordered a prosciutto, vegetable and shrimp dish. There were four shrimp, flakes of prosciutto, and almost no vegetables. The portion size was small. The food was slower than typical to arrive for a restaurant in this class. Our empty plates sat for 18 minutes before being cleared. We left the restaurant and immediately went to the grocery store for Second Dinner as our meal at The Meatball was entirely unsatisfactory. read more

After returning from the Banff Gondola ride, on our first night in town, the Ptarmigan Inn restaurant talked to us. We saw the Ptarmigan birds at Lake Louise and meatballs sounded good. Seemed like fate. It was later in the evening, crowd was light and we chose to sit on the patio. We chose their signature meatballs (lamb and beef) with spaghetti. Very flavorful. We thought the spring vegetable marinara was sparse but turned out to be just the right amount on perfectly cooked (al dente) flat noodles. We were walking into town from a 7 mile hike so this was the first place that we saw and had ample seating (indoor). I ordered the veggie balls, wife ordered summer salad, and kids got spaghetti and meatballs. Summer salad was bright and refreshing and kids liked their spaghetti and meatballs. Let me say that I highly enjoyed my order. Best vegetarian dish I've had in a while. The "noodles" were a bed of noodle cut carrots and squash ( or zucchini?) and were delicious. Food took a good 20 minutes to arrive even thought it was 9:30pm and there were maybe 5 other tables seated at the time. Food finally arrives and my meatball and spaghetti was just ok. It came with 3 large beef and lamb meatballs, which were good, but the lamb taste were very strong, not recommended for those who are not huge fans of lamb. My bf's chicken meatball cabonara had 3 medium sized meatballs, grapes, and broccoli. Also not a fantastic dish, but decent enough. We finished the meal off with an Irish coffee and orange coconut cheese cake. The Irish coffee came in a tall cup, no milk/cream, and plenty of alcohol. The cheesecake was actually decent, we could really taste the orange flavor in it. All in all, reasonable priced meal, but not good enough for me to return. To give it some frame of reference, this meal was a little less enjoyable than a Boston pizza. read more

Server started out OK but then got a little attitude when we didn't order drinks (we had just had a pre-dinner beverage at their bar). Our dishes were OK, nothing special.
