Highly recommend Coleman Taylor transmission in Franklin, TN for transmission work. In November 2024 we were on the receiving end of the bad car words that no one wants to hear: transmission failure. Unfortunately, the Nissan CVT (continuously variable transmission) can't be repaired or rebuilt. It must be replaced. Nissan paid out over $277 million in damages over the CVT in various vehicles. The Nissan dealer quoted us $8,000 plus tax for the replacement. A couple other shops quoted us $6500 plus tax. However, Coleman Taylor in Franklin TN quoted us $5600 all in. We anticipated we'd be without our vehicle for a month, but they called us the day after Christmas and gave us a great gift: ready for pick up. And it took about 2 weeks, which included their wait for the part to come in. There are several reasons I would recommend Coleman Taylor: 1) Customer service. They understand all their customers have received the same bad news and they are kind, supporting, responsive, fair and good at what they do. 2) Follow through. They stuck to their quote and they over-delivered on timing. 3) Warranty. Their work carries the same warranty as if done at Nissan: 100,000 miles. On 8/12, I referred my brother to Coleman Taylor in Franklin, TN to have the transmission in his 2019 Hyundai Kona serviced. I referred him to that location due to my dealings with that facility as well as the one that used to be on Lebanon Road in Nashville. Both locations had earned my trust due to honest assessments, great work, and reasonable prices. My latest dealings have been with the Franklin location, and speaking to a lady named Catherine. She had always been nice and helpful. Because of that, I've referred friends and family to that location. You can imagine my shock when my brother told me that Catherine said they could not service his transmission because she had never even heard of that model vehicle. She said she would check with some guys in the shop and get back to him. She never called him back. He called her back a couple of days later and she said she had checked with the guys and they were not familiar with it either. I found that hard to believe, so I called Catherine myself on 8/14. She told me the same thing and suggested he take his car to a dealership for service. When I asked why they were not familiar with a model that was not new, but did service Elantras and other Hyundais, she got a bit short, said they could not work on his vehicle because it was not listed in some book she referred to. She suggested that we take the car to a dealership, said goodbye, and immediately hung up. I decided to call Coleman Taylor in Murfreesboro because I found it almost impossible to accept what Catherine told me. I spoke to a man named Chris. He was very nice and was very familiar with the Hyundai Kona. My brother had his vehicle serviced in Murfreesboro on 8/19. He raved about how nice Chris was and was very pleased with the service and felt the price was fair. As info, I don't want to end on a negative tone about the Franklin location. You can likely have a negative experience just about anywhere, but the positive ones there far outweigh the negative, especially since this one has been the only one for me. read more

A relative was moving to Tennessee and was driving our pickup and I was trying to find a place to take the pickup after he got settled in, so I was trying to get a quote for servicing, just a transmission fluid and filter change. I requested a quote via the "request a quote" link on the Yelp page. I received a response and was told that they do not give quotes for repairs without seeing the vehicle. I replied back stating that it wasn't a repair, it was just to service the transmission and that there was nothing wrong with it. They never followed up, not very good communication. Where I reside, I can get quotes all day long from any transmission shop via phone or Yelp messaging. Do they do this so they can try to tell you that you need more than you really do? Possibly or maybe the reader didn't read the message entirely and didn't realize that I just wanted it to be serviced. In today's busy world, I'd think quoting a fluid and filter change should be pretty easy and straight forward, but since our relative is so busy, he will probably skip this place, at least when it comes to a fluid and filter change. I was having issues with my shifter and all the staff at Coleman was quick to help! They looked At it free of charge, and after finding nothing they told me it would require a $600 repair from a dealer. Shortly after that they made it personal and said they would honestly try to do it themselves and find a YouTube tutorial. While this is super unusual it saved me so much money and I was able to fix my issue. The waiting time Was 30 min less then predicted and the lady at the front (Kathrine) was super sweet and asked about my day and was super funny, really brightened my day with some good jokes! 10/10 experience here. Not only did he report the computer codes generated by the check engine light and point me in the right direction, but he also opened up my transmission to check on a few concerns I had regarding the flex plate (flywheel) at no cost. The very honest mechanic did a very detailed diagnosis and drove my car. He was able to determine I did not have a serious enough issue to do anything right now, and did not charge me! How refreshing!!! From the two phone conversations to set up the appointment through checking in and talking to the mechanic at the end....the whole experience was superb.
