Not that good this time. spanakopita looked like what you buy in Trader Joe's frozen foods. Tough on the bottom. The gyro meet was dry. Fries were potato wedges and one was still frozen in the middle. The Greek sampler was just average. Last time I had the portobello sandwich with grilled veggies and it was delicious. When my friend learned that my only experience with eggplant was my use of the emoji in crass texts, she was shocked and pointed me to items on the menu that had eggplant in them. I had to redeem myself! I ordered the Escander Kabob, she the Turkish Shis Kabob and we both enjoyed our meals-eggplant and all. The portion sizes are generous and the flavors are delightful. I had the house dressing on my salad, which was tangy and light. The atmosphere here is also wonderful-it's sort of whimsical with water features and flowers throughout and the service is attentive, but not over the top. What I love about so many Mediterranean places is that they usually have a plate on the menu that lets you sample a bunch of different menu items. It's kind of the "Girl Dinner" type of situation I'm always looking for - small bites of a bunch of different menu items. I got their vegetarian mediterranean platter which came with a dolma, rice and veggies, tzaziki sauce, hummus, salad, falafel, and pita bread. It was amazing! I got it to go and it was delicious, so I'm excited to come back and try this place in person. I loved the opportunity to try so many different items. I ordered moussaka for the first time and was disappointed by the flavors. The creme sauce did not go with it and I couldn't taste the lamb. The only item I liked was the kubideh. I went back to this place after many years. Always a good experience, mainly with the vibes. Love the decor here and usually gets packed with people on weekends. Honestly the service wasn't good. Empty glass of water for a long time and that is a negative thing no matter where you go. Nobody would want the water cup to stay empty for a long time. The food, is good. They have Persian food. But if you are Persian, you know their food is not "real Persian" food!!! But still taste good. Had the shank with rice and was pretty good. The portion is big and filling. The Med is easy to miss if you're just driving by. It's an unassuming older building tucked back on 3300 South, but when we went for dinner on a Saturday night, it was almost full. Prices are reasonable and the menu has a lot of options. We couldn't pass up The hummus and falafel for appetizers and both were delicious. We enjoyed a salad with gyro meat and chicken souvlaki for our main courses and both were excellent. Service was quite slow (but friendly and helpful!) and we had to package up our food to go since we were hustling for a movie, so we'll plan to go earlier next time. The Med. My tried and true. My favorite Mediterranean restaurant in SLC. The ambiance is an EXPERIENCE... and I love it. (Looking at you, King Tut). My go-to is the appetizer sampler, with a large side of gyro meat, and a cup of chicken lime & rice soup. I cannot even put into words how amazing the gyro meat is. It's so tender, seasoned to perfection, and sliced super thick. One bite of the chicken lime & rice soup and all my troubles melt away. It's SO flavorful and just warms the soul. My kids (and me) are a big fan of the chicken Alfredo, which is a little different than expected, but SO yummy and the added veggies are so nice! I also recommend the Pesto Mushroom Ravioli or the Mediterranean Lasagna. We ALWAYS end our meal with the chocolate confusion which is sinfully delicious, and sometimes get the baklava which is pure crispy, sweet, sticky happiness. Everyone who works here is so pleasant and nice. We LOVE the Med and recommend it to everyone and anyone we meet! read more

This is my go-to Mediterranean restaurant in Salt Lake. Good prices and good food. I tried the falafel sand chick with a salad. It was tasty. On a past visit I tried the yogurt pasta with goat cheese while some other people I was with really liked it, it was not my favorite. Also, as a side note, they have a good selection of wine but the house wine I am pretty's here is boxed wine so I would spend the extra few dollars and get one of the glasses of other wine. We paid quite a bit of money for two plates that were mostly rice and tiny pieces of burnt meat. Mines had one tiny tomato and absolutely no sauce. Luckily the meat was well seasoned and I was really excited to try this restaurant too! Our server though was really sweet though, which made up for the underwhelming food we got. I've been going here for many years. I worked here at one point in 2007. I have to say that knowing the in's and out's of this place does factor into my review. The Food: Doug Nassar's recipes are still being used 10 years after his death, it's a great way to honor him. The Quality has not changed since then. I truly enjoy the Appetizer Sampler, The Hummus, Falafel, and most of all the Spinach and Lentil soup. My favorite dish is the Kabab e Jujeh (Lemon Chicken, Saffron, Kabob). It's served with Basmati Rice, Butter, Fire Roasted Tomato wedge, and a raw onion wedge. I usually ask for a little extra lemon juice, but it's the star of the menu as far as I'm concerned. Other things include great falafel sandwich, great gyros, and the green curry is pretty great as well. The Service: Jason has been there since I left, and if he's there I'd prefer to sit in his section. He's pretty on top of things. There are a couple other servers there that are pretty forgetful, disorganized, and I'll just say it, probably stoned. Drink refills seem to be slow, if any. If you go there with a large group you may be there a while. The Restaurant: This place is a dive, it's clean enough to eat in, but don't inspect too closely. The food is the star of the show, if you don't care for the dining experience they are happy to pack it to go, where you can enjoy great food in a place that is up to your personal standards. I love it here! The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone, and as a vegetarian i appreciate the multiple plant-based options. The decor is unique and cool, which I love. There's a homey vibe to the restaurant and the food, so while it's not necessarily fancy, it's a great place when you want something casual and cozy. I got the soup last time, and I absolutely loved it! The service isn't the quickest and not all the servers seem to know about each menu item, but again, casual dining experience. I just tried this place for the first time and it's amazing! The hummus was one of the best I've ever had and they give you a sufficient amount of pita too. We also ordered the Greek Combo Plate, and the Spicy Green Curry . Both dishes were really good, and the tzatziki sauce on the combo plate was light and flavorful and went well with the chicken souvlaki. Full disclosure: I live a stone's throw away from this place and I had never tried it before. It was always one of those places I wanted to try but never quite made it over to. Do NOT make my same mistake! The Med is incredible. The atmosphere is a little odd, I must say, but I kind of love it. There are fake plants EVERYWHERE. And random other things, like a flag with an earth on it hung over a light in the center of the restaurant (when you go you'll see what I mean). However, despite the quirky decor, I was immediately greeted and sat down with my partner. The service was amazing! Our server and who I assume to be the owner was so kind. How do I always forget how good Mediterranean food is? We ordered the hummus as an appetizer (delicious and fresh) and then the combo plate with the two kabobs. A salad was included. IT WAS ALL AMAZING. And the price was unbeatable - $13 . We were shook. Don't sit on this place. Go try out The Med immediately! I'm the last person you'd ask to cater an important event, not to mention that beyond souvlaki, gyros, and other basics, I've just eaten Greek food with family and loved it, had no idea what it might be called. ( I know NOW!) I don't even live in SLC. I'm trying to figure out how to not just rave on. It was a charming experience from beginning to end, in a stressful situation. Small biz, big heart. And the menu had the magic names of unrecognizable foods that I'd finally dragged out of my boss, and did catering! I called them in a total haze, gave my list of magic words and numbers. David Barker took the information I'd managed to glean, and worked out a perfect menu and amounts for me (though at the time, my fingers were just crossed). I didn't get to do the pick up as planned, but unloading the food was a jaw dropping experience. Packaging (and some hot items, that had transport time, then unpack time, kept warm!) was unexpectedly excellent, and even though not much food was left over (a couple of fights threatened to break out over what was), there was a TON of excellent food, excellent price, I'm still receiving raves. They even sent quality paper plates and utensils just in case. And I swear he threw in extra stuff, but can't be sure. It was perfect. We had been authorized to add a % gratuity at pickup, and both the person who picked up and I thought we would have added more, with all the work put into the project. We were very disappointed with our meal tonight at The Med. While the food was okay, we waited over 45+ minutes after ordering our main course for it to come and actually ended up asking for it to go as we could not remain at the restaurant any longer. We arrived at 5:30pm on a Sunday evening hoping that it would not be busy (which it was not at all) and was very disappointed by the incredibly slow service. We were checked on maybe one time throughout our hour there and barely were given water refills. We ordered the sampler plate as an appetizer which took over 15 minutes to come, which was surprising as it is just a sampling of dips and some veggies, which are usually quick to prepare. While the food was good, the service was beyond bad and the overall experience was not good. We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant and were certainly let down.
