Delicious, cheesy, crunchy, and so good! Tonight was my family's first time trying The Melt, even though we've walked by many times since it opened. We ordered the cheese bacon ranch fries, and a Patty melt, which was the perfect cross between a cheeseburger and grilled cheese. The melt was full of flavor with Dijon, grilled onions, and provolone, while the fries were salty and had the right amount of creamy cheese sauce. Overall, I love the ambiance. It's easy to self order through the kiosks or from one of the friendly staff. There's plenty of outdoor seating and limited indoors, but it is always really popular and busy, so we got lucky to get a chance to try it out today. Definitely, we will be back! read more

Today i tried a spicy chicken sandwich, regular chicken sandwich and their burger. If im being completely honest, the spicy sandwich was good but the burger tasted a bit bland, not just that my bottom bun was all greasy and oily so i had to eat it flying dutchman style. The regular crispy chicken sandwich was also bland almost had no flavor compared to the spicy. I do suggest you try their fries though! There are a lot of little places to eat at in Irvine. Some are big chain restaurants, others are standalone restaurants that have a loyal following, and then there are some that might have a few locations here and there. The Melt is one of those places that has multiple locations throughout California. So, you have options while traveling throughout the state. I have been to the Downtown Los Angeles location and to this one in Irvine. The Melt is located at The Irvine Spectrum Shopping Center. It is closer to the parking structure on the northwest side of the property. The Spectrum can become a bit busy, so have some patience while looking for parking. The restaurant itself is very small. There is a small amount of patio seating and about 4-5 tables inside. People typically combine the tables together to accommodate larger parties, so seating is very limited both inside and outside. It is also very cramped inside. You can order from the counter or customize your selection from the kiosk. The menu is pretty straightforward and has a lot of cheese-infused items. Hence the name, The Melt! They have burgers, salads, grilled cheese, and fries. You can also add any of their milkshakes, pastries, or craft sodas to your order. I typically get the impossible burger since I don't eat red meat. They have the most delicious, melty cheese placed on top of the "burger". Their garlic cheese fries are also pretty good. However, it is their melty mac n cheese that has my heart! The pasta noodles are large in size, the cheese is so creamy, and their bread crumbs top it off, making it a delicious addition to your meal. I seriously love their mac n cheese! I cannot vouch for anything else on the menu since I'm limited with what I can eat, but their impossible burgers and mac n cheese are great! I really like The Melt! This location is very small and you do feel claustrophobic when you're inside on busy days. However, I feel that it is worth your while to check it out at least once. Haven't been to Irvine Spectrum in a couple of years. We were looking for a quick bite before driving back home and I usually like anything melt whether it's grilled cheese sandwiches or melt burger. Stumbled upon this place towards the parking garage. You can order in-person or use the tablets organized inside to place your order. It was pretty simple and convenient to place my order. I ordered their Patty Melt and Garlic Parmesan Fries. The Patty Melt was a nice wagyu patty that included onions, swiss cheese and spicy mustard. The bread was artisan bread. First bite (along with the rest) was delicious. Definitely enjoyed their Patty Melt here. Also nice size portion. Their garlic parmesan fries was ok. Definitely filled with garlic parmesan. Bit salty but it was ok. Though I didn't sit inside, it was clean and modern looking. They also have patio outside for additional seating. Service was good; staff were nice. After visiting The Melt during a YES event, I had to come back and try the BBQ Bacon MeltBurger - it was very good! I loved all of the textures and flavors. The burger was juicy, and the bun was soft. The meat was perfectly cooked, and the bacon added a bit of saltiness to the burger. The times I've visited The Melt, service has been super friendly and quick. I'm always greeted with a smile, and it seems like the people who work there actually enjoy their jobs, which is great! On a Saturday around noontime, the wait was about 10-15min, which wasn't bad at all. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice breeze under an umbrella. I went twice in a week to share with family and will be back again! Especially since my kids absolutely loved the mac and cheese. read more

My daughter wanted to eat at the Melt during lunch time. Wasn't very busy. We ordered and waited. 10 minutes went by so we checked the progress of the order and said it had been sent to the kitchen. We waited another 10 minutes went and everyone around us already ate and left. When we checked again, the staff said they didn't get the order but somehow when they looked, surprise, they found it. So it took 25 min to get a grilled cheese sandwich when it wasn't busy. At least the person behind the count could have been more sincere and apologetic about it. read more

I went to The Melt at Irvine spectrum today. First time. I ordered at the kiosk, a melt burger with no sauce. They have pagers there, which I put the number in in order for them to page me. When my order was ready. 20 minutes later I still had no food. There was only one person inside the restaurant. I went up to the counter and asked what was going on with my order. The girl asked me what my pager number was and I told her it was 72. I told her nobody paged me. She said she already made it!! And I said so, where is it and she said I'll just make you another one and I repeated my question again. Well, where is it if you already made it and she repeated her answer I'll just make you another one and then asked her. Did you throw it away?? And she said no I'll just make you another one at this point I gave up and asked for my money back as I was leaving the girl said I think we gave his order to somebody else. She should've just said in the beginning that she inadvertently gave it to somebody else, but she didn't lousy way to start a relationship. I will never go back to the melt again. read more

I was looking for a quickie for my daughter and I since we didn't have patience and PE was not filling the bill at the time. We like cheese...so Melt it was! I order my girlie a plain kids cheeseburger ($5.99) great value for size at a mall! Added fries for her for $1...and ordered a mushroom impossible burger ($13.99) for me with sweet potato fries (4.99). Took about 10-15 min which was good given how busy it was...and to my amazement..Delicious!! Only negative: the SP fries were a tad too salty. My family and I were looking for a quick bite while shopping at Irvine Spectrum and we decided on The Melt. One of my family members had previously raved about this spot so I was definitely excited to try it out. We ordered on the tablet and were very glad to see that for all the items they sell we could do our own adjustments. Although my sibling was the only one to get a full on meal, it was nice to see that their standard options could be modified into something that accommodates what we like. After you order it, doesn't take too long for it to come out and the food comes out nice and hot. For myself, I ordered the sweet potato fries and wow did they not disappoint. I had been craving sweet potato oddly enough and these fries just hit the spot. They were nice and crispy and had the perfect amount of salt. I got them with a side of their house sauce and it was the perfect dip. Their sauce is flavorful and compliments their meals greatly. I will definitely be coming back for more. I can also say that their food is also great. My sibling got the Swiss and Shroom Grilled Chicken but subbed the ranch with house sauce and the swiss with cheddar and it was so delicous. The food was okay but they messed up my order, I asked for a bbq bacon burger with lettuce, tomato, and no pickles with a regular fry. They gave me the burger with no lettuce, tomato, and no onions? They also gave me the pickle on the side which isn't a huge deal except I am mildly allergic. They also gave me sweet potato fries instead of a regular fry. When I came in they were really busy so I see the confusion between a bunch of different orders, but before sending them out they should check the stickers that are literally on the plate that say the order. read more

I had a great meal here tonight at the Melt in Irvine Spectrum. I was feeling like a burger and tried the Spicy Mission Meltburger with a side of garlic parmesan fries and a strawberry lemonade. The burger was good, more meat than bun and a little messy so make sure you grab some napkins before digging in! It also had a lot of ketchup so unless you like a lot of ketchup on your burger, I would suggest getting it on the side. Patty was cooked perfectly and was super juicy. The burger wasn't that spicy though, most of the heat came from a few slices of raw jalepenos so don't be afraid to try it. The parmesan fries were really good. Crispy outside, pillowy inside, perfectly salted, and plenty of garlic and parmesan. I don't normally finish all my fries but I was scraping the bottom of the basket to get all the little bits of yummy stuff with the last few fries. The strawberry lemonade is VERY sweet. It tasted syrupy and not very tart so I would probably pass and get a fountain drink the next time. Menu had other things I would like to try next time...Mac and cheese and actual melts. Probably will have something for everyone so it's an easy place to stop for a meal if you're in a group. Some seating inside and plenty outside. They have self-order kiosks at this location, but if you're technology challenged, there will be someone at the counter who cam take your order. Went here for dinner today after celebrating my cousin's birthday at Dave & Busters. There's a lot of places in this area of the spectrum but we never tried The Melt so we decided to eat there. We enjoyed all of the food we ordered! We stuck to the basics and they delivered. We tried their MeltBurger, Spicy Mission MeltBurger, garlic Parmesan fries, patty melt, and garlic chicken bacon Mac. It was all cheesy, but also all delicious. My parents and sister ordered the burgers and they were both fans of their food, I didn't try either of these dishes so I can't say for myself, but it did look and smell good! The garlic parm fries are definitely on the garlicky side, which I am a fan of! The patty melt was reallly good, probably my favorite of what we ordered, can't go wrong with sourdough bread, meat, and cheese. The burgers and melt also came with a pickle on the side. Now for the Mac, it was a pretty big sized portion so I would recommend sharing (as we did), but you might want it for yourself since it's so tasty! It's very cheesy, to the point where it's a little soupy because of the all the cheese sauce, but I was fan of it plus can't go wrong with chicken and bacon with the cheesy noodles. The epitome of greasy food, but from all the cheese and butter, not the meat, and that's what makes this place so good!! We ordered the Mac and Cheese with Bacon and Garlic Deluxe cholesterol buster and the steak and cheese with fries and extra Lipitor on the side. Our biggest mistake? Not grabbing enough napkins to eat the sandwich because every bite required us to wipe our hands before we touched anything else. They aren't super speedy as everything is made fresh, and for today's fast food price standards, they are a little high. Plan to spend at least $15 per person if you get a drink. With the side of fries, our bill came to about $36 for 2. They have this new brand of soft drinks, Rocky Mountain Soda Company, that seems to be invading fast food joints trying to be a little classier than the rest. Problem is, no diet anything. I'm betting they added cans of coke and diet coke for sale after some initial pushback from customers. Although, I do like the rootbeer from this company. Anyway, I love my diet coke and got a can. Sadly, it wasn't very cold on this warm afternoon so that was a bummer. They also screwed up my order, which to their credit, they quickly fixed. Slightly disappointed because I repeated myself 3 times during the ordering process. I could have ordered from the tablets, but it was my first time there and I had a couple of questions. Plus, had we ordered on the tablet, my partner in crime probably wouldn't have noticed the strawberry lemonade! Stopped by for a quick bite to eat and it was a good sandwich. I got the spicy mission chicken sandwich. If you like jalapeños then you are in luck, there's plenty in this sandwich. Overall the ingredients were good except the chicken was very thin (not a substantial portion) and had no flavor. It's cooked over griddle and not "grilled", which then doesn't create any flavor. I was tasting the ketchup and jalapeños more than anything else. Loved the gooey cheese and pickle spears. The Melt is not on my favorite list of restaurants but it's worth a try if you're in the area and in the mood for this type of food. Stopped by on a weekday night to get a quick dinner after shopping at Spectrum. We got the Spicy Mission Meltburger, the Patty Melt, and and Melty Mac on the side. Spicy Mission Meltburger: Solid 8/10! Pretty filling burger and the jalapeños gave it a good kick. Patty Melt: 5/10. I'm not a huge mustard fan so we tried to ask for the spicy mustard sauce on the side, but there weren't any options on the kiosk to ask for it on the side. It was also a lost cause trying to talk to anyone in the front as they seemed uninterested to interact with any customers. So without the sauce it was pretty dry and nothing special. Melty Mac: 7/10. Also nothing too special, but the breadcrumbs gave the mac a crunchy texture that I liked. Overall, this place could definitely have better customer service and could be more welcoming. The food isn't all that bad for a chain but don't expect the service to be great. read more
