However, one downside was the lettuce quality and size. There were tons of brown pieces that I needed to filter through and pieces were cut fairly large making it hard to eat. I saved my rewards points for a free entree only to get this?! I was heading out of town for the Memorial Day weekend and wanted to stop by sweetgreen to redeem my points for a free entree, up to $18. Sweetgreen's app only mentions how many of your points would expire within 90 days, but doesn't give a more precise date. So like 60 days? 30 days? 2 days? I wanted to make sure I redeemed my hard-earned points before they would expire. This sweetgreen is located in Irvine Spectrum Center where the 5 meets the 405. Despite the ginormous amount of parking, I got so lucky when a car pulled out as I was trying to look for a spot nearby; otherwise, I probably would have had to park closer to Target instead. As soon as I came in, I was met by delivery and pickup shelves, and as I sidestepped to the right, I noticed the setup was more similar to the Torrance location than the Long Beach location. Since I'm more accustomed to the Long Beach location, I was expecting there to be kiosks, but there weren't any. AJ immediately came over to offer help, though it was a welcome that became unwelcome as he was quite condescending. I wasn't totally sure how I'd be able to redeem my points for a free entree in store, especially since I find that the sweetgreen app isn't as user-friendly compared to other restaurants' apps. AJ's response was simply "you can order online or in store." Uhh okay, thanks Captain Obvious, but I was asking how I can redeem my points for a reward in store. Making me look like an imbecile doesn't answer the question! AJ and Jordan were busy preparing entrees for a single customer and a party of two, respectively, in front of me. It took several minutes for Jordan to finally get to me, and that even included another employee going back and forth; I almost thought that employee would be the one to serve me, but I guess he was supposed to be in the back doing something else. During those several minutes of waiting, I had decided on a Miso Glazed Salmon plate, which is $17.25. However, I noticed their CYO section of the menu mentioning that toppings could be anywhere from 65 cents to $2.25. I tried looking around to see how to tell how much a particular topping would cost, but had no way to tell! So if you were to select 4 extra toppings to go with your entree, you could pay as much as $9 or as little as $2.60 extra. Big difference! When Jordan finally got around to servicing me, I told her I wanted the Miso Glazed Salmon protein plate, but also asked how I'd be able to tell how much an extra topping would cost. She did mention that the colder toppings were 65 cents, but the avocado was a counterexample as she mentioned it was one of the $2.25 toppings. Fortunately, it would already come with the salmon. Anyways, I saw that Jordan was about to add the white rice to the plate, but I stopped her and asked if I could switch that out with the quinoa since I'm trying to eat less white rice in my diet. She made that switch, no hassle, no problem. I then asked about the broccoli and corn, both of which were 65 cents. Between the two, I went with the broccoli, bringing my total to a dime less than $18. At the register, Jordan asked if I wanted the dressing on the side or mixed in. I preferred on the side. However, I had to scan my QR code several times before the transaction would finally go through. Afterwards, she asked if I'd like some sourdough bread, to which I couldn't say no. I also asked for a water cup, and she handed me one. I went towards the front door to get a fork, napkins, and some water from the water dispenser. Then, I sat at a table by the rear wall to enjoy my salmon plate. Or tried to, at least. I noticed there wasn't any kind of sauce in the plate despite sweetgreen offering up to 3. I could have went up to ask, but with how unwelcoming AJ was and how indifferent Jordan seemed, didn't feel comfortable to as more customers came in to place their orders. At least the ingredients tasted fresh, and I enjoyed them individually. However, without a sauce, I felt like I got deprived of what could have been a tasty meal. I did get kind of lucky with the salmon, even though I didn't taste much of the miso glaze. I noticed Jordan opening the salmon bin, and there were only two filets inside. After finishing my plate, I used one of the two restrooms they have in the rear. I had trouble with both the sink and the hand dryer not working in a timely manner that I almost thought I'd have to leave with soap on my hands! It took much longer than expected to finally wash my hands and leave. However, before I left, I looked at the menu and saw that the Miso Glazed Salmon would come with spicy cashew, which didn't sound like a sauce, but the sign showing the sauces indicated it was! I really did get shortchanged on the spicy cashew sauce! :( Now that I only have a few points left, I doubt I'll return to a sweetgreen soon, even the Long Beach one, after such a disappointing visit to this sweetgreen. read more

Irvine finally has a Sweetgreen and I could not be happier! This location is clean, modern, and the staff is always so friendly and efficient. I have to rave about the Harvest Bowl -- hands down my favorite thing on the menu. The combination of warm wild rice, roasted sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, and that balsamic vinaigrette is just perfection. It's hearty, flavorful, and somehow manages to feel both healthy and indulgent at the same time. I can only eat half of this! Great proportions! read more

Original Review: It's all hype. The experience doesn't match the marketing. The restaurant is dirty. The staff isn't trained. Patio dirty (deep dirty, not just had a crazy rush dirty). Inside the restaurant was dirty. The service line where they take your order was dirty. Zero hospitality from the staff (nobody was in charge). It wasn't worth it and the mess made me not trust the food. Was in at 6:30 on a Friday, so expected them to be staffed and ready. Not so. The greens and fresh veggies were good. My friend and I were looking for a healthy spot to eat and have some girl time and she recommended this place.She had gone to a different location not the Irvine one ..but she said she really liked it. Parking can be a struggle at the Irvine Spectrum but being a Monday at 4pm we were both able to find parking no problem. The place was pretty empty they have outside seating and some inside seating as well, I did notice that the tables outside looked like they needed to be wiped down. Customer service was just OK. The two guys that were working there one of them the one that helped me seem like he was just trying to get through his shift. I ended up ordering the Beef Mezxi bowl and just buy watching him put it together I was pretty unimpressed although the picture looks like it has a bigger portion. It's actually pretty small. Taste wise it was just Ok I've definitely had a lot better bowls at Chipotle. My friend who ordered at the same time as me was offered a piece of sourdough bread that they had in a container with a bunch of slices by the register ..my server did not offer me any bread, which is fine, but why didn't he offer me any??hmmm?? my friend ordered some type of chicken salad with tortilla chips and it looked super bland. She said it was OK. To drink I ordered a green drink that you serve yourself in one of those drink dispensers and it was like a ginger green drink, and it was also just ok for me. Overall, it was just an OK experience I think I expected more and it just did not check all the boxes and with so many other good food options at the Irvine Spectrum they need to step it up! read more

I've been here three times now and I sincerely enjoy their bowls. It's nice knowing that I can get a very healthy option for lunch or dinner and the ingredients are healthy and wholesome. They do have vegan choices as well, like tofu and mushrooms. The only point of contention I have is that when I placed my pick up order I got there a little early and I noticed that the person who was preparing the bowls placed the receipt, which had a list of everything that I ordered on it inside the bowl as she was making it. This is not a good thing to do since receipts contain printing ink, which is full of BPA. So I would highly suggest that they refrain from doing this in the future. Other than that, the restaurant itself is clean. The bathrooms were clean as well and the staff is friendly and nice. RAW CHICKEN** Went in today and ordered a wrap and bowl. When I sat down to eat my wrap I noticed the chicken inside was raw. I kindly told the employee (Markisha D) that the chicken was undercooked and she gave me instant attitude. She said "no it's not I cooked and temp checked it all". So I showed her the chicken and she didn't apologize once but kept just asking me what I wanted to do.. SHE should be the one apologizing and lettting me know how she'll resolve. I'm an avid salad eater. I can literally eat it morning, noon, and night if left to my own vices. I was excited when Sweetgreens made their West Coast debut and now they are more readily available in SoCal to visit. It's the Chipotle style of service where you meet your Salad Angel (not their official title), but that's what I'm calling them and they ask you how they can make your day exceptional. My exceptional day at Sweetgreens is the Hummus Crunch Salad where I get to make so many substitutions that the old-timer Angels basically tell me I just made a Green Goddess salad (RIP from the OG menu) and yes, that's what I'm basically doing. The dressings are so tasty here, especially the green goddess dressing. I also cannot say no to the bread. Their miso salmon or blacken chicken are also the stand out proteins for me. Indoor and outdoor. Seating available. I have found that this location is a hit or miss with service. Sometimes the employees are great and sometimes they look so miserable, I wonder why they even show up to work. Discovered this restaurant chain in Boston. Had a good experience there so decided to try this one located at the Irvine Spectrum. The menu is labeled "G" for gluten free items. I ordered the hot honey chicken bowl. Cost was $15.45. The portions were large see pictures in my review. The taste was pretty good but not great. I liked the gluten free options and healthy choices. The service was fair. We ended up eating outside. They did have a fair amount of outside seating. They did have some tables inside. Would recommend for gluten free and healthier options. read more

Hubby got the wild rice + quinoa bowl with miso glazed salmon and I got the kale cesar salad with roasted chicken. The flavor for both bowls were phenomenal. We love the plethora of sauces that were offered. the roasted sweet potatoes were delicious with all of their sauces! The parm crisps add great texture to the salad. Only complaint we have is the protein. Very dry and overcooked. The salmon was tough to bite through and the chicken was so dry it was chewy. That definitely needs improvement. I'm torn between giving this place 3 stars or 4 stars, but I decided to go with 4 stars. While I was in the East Coast, I saw a lot of sweetgreen locations. It's nice that a location opened closer back home! So, I wanted to check out the food. sweetgreen is located right next to Pieology. It might be a bit hard to find since it's located in the front of the Irvine Spectrum area. It's best to park in the Bristol Farms market parking lot to get to the store. I loved the lightning and open space in the store. There's a few tables in the store, and more tables in the patio area. There weren't a lot of customers when I first came in. Service did take a bit long, with 1 worker helping at the counter. 1 worker was processing the online orders. It seems like they have quite a bit of online orders. Another worker came in to help at the counter when it started getting busy. To be honest, it was confusing what toppings they had. I believe there's a small paper located on the glass, but it's all the way at the front of the ordering station. So, you kind of have to ask the worker. I decided to go with a pre-made bowl to make it easier. The worker assisting me gave us more salad than rice, when we asked, which was appreciated. He was friendly and asked if we wanted any substitutions. My friend and I were able to switch to different dressings. Note, they don't take cash at this location. Also, there's 2 gender neutral restrooms, which is nice. At the front of the store, there's a water refill station and silverware. They also separate trash and compost here. Now onto the food! I didn't like my bowl very much. The dressings are very light in flavor. The arugula in my crispy rice bowl tasted bitter? The saving grace was the crispy rice. It was a bit of a drag, finishing my bowl. I enjoyed my friend's harvest bowl because the kale was tasty. She did mention there weren't any almonds in her bowl when the recipe stated there were supposed to be almonds? She also mentioned that the sweet potatoes were hard. I also didn't see any almonds in my bowl as stated in the recipe... I wished the bowls had something to give it more of that oomph, but both were lacking something. 3.5 stars Came here on a weekday for lunch and there weren't too many people waiting in line to order. I went for a build your own salad option. The biggest caveat for me was not seeing what all the ingredient names were. I saw everything but I didn't know what everything was, so do note if you don't know ask the employee what everything is. Step 1: Base: Salad, rice, or combo. Choose from romaine, arugula, baby spinach, spring mix, shredded kale, rice and or quinoa. Step 2: Premiums. Kinda was confused here cuz if I remember they did have the names of the meats here lol. I opted for the roasted chicken. Step 3: Toppings (Choose 4, more costs) Spicy banana peppers, chopped pickles, olives, apples, basil, raw carrots, chickpeas, cilantro, cucumber, raw beet, red onion, roasted sweet potato, shredded cabbage, spicy broccoli, tomato, lentils, sunflower seeds Step 4: Anything on top? Crispy rice, toasted almonds, tortilla chips, breadcrumbs Step 5: Dressings I went for a kale/quinoa combo, then went to get roasted chicken, added myself chickpeas, spicy broccoli, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber and got some light BBQ sauce. They mixed it up and added a piece of sourdough bread which was kind of a nice touch. Eating the salad was fine, but it might have been (gasp) too much? I felt near the end I definitely need more water and felt more parched. I might have needed to add more ingredients or should have gotten more sauce, but it was good (at least in the beginning). I think that for trying this place for the first time, ordering online or through the app would be a better choice so you can choose everything you want, but so many things are premiums that ya gotta watch the price haha. I'd probably try a different combo next time but at least I will go in knowing what combos to try. There's a few seating options inside and a little bit more outside as well. read more

I really like Sweetgreen. I had experiences with both dining in and DoorDash. Dining in was great. I got the harvest bowl, and the portion was big and I had left over. Then I doordashed and built my own bowl. Just like other reviewers, there were 2 PAID items missing- cilantro and goat cheese. It looks like it's a common problem, and I hope they fix it soon. Also the portion was much smaller for take out. Service was good and fast. And the store is clean. read more
