Finally tried Wood Ranch at Irvine Spectrum after walking past it so many times Like a nicer version of a Lucille's lol. We started with the guac & chips and buffalo wings, then shared the BBQ combo with tri-tip, brisket, fries, and coleslaw. The tri-tip was definitely the winner, so tender and flavorful. The brisket was good, but after having Texas BBQ, it's hard not to compare. The coleslaw was actually a surprise because it wasn't the typical creamy slaw and had a nice crunch from the peanuts. Also, the chips were fresh! The service was so good too. Our server kept checking on us and never let our drinks get empty. They also had the World Cup playing on the TVs, so it's a great spot if you want to catch a game or watch other sports while you eat. When I'm craving BBQ or just some good American comfort food I'd probably come back maybe check out Happy Hour is Mon-Fri (3-6 PM), and also Tuesdays are 50% off wine if you love your wine. read more

So I have been to the Wood Ranch Grill out in RSM and finally decided to give this place a try since it had a $10 off $50+ offer on Grubhub. I ordered a couple meats "By the piece" which were 9 oz of Brisket ($28) and half a Fire Roasted Free-Range Chicken ($17). I also wanted to try out the tri tip and baby back ribs but the By The Piece prices were a little too much imo so I ordered the 2 item WR BBQ Combo ($40). I got tri tip and baby back ribs along with mashed potatoes and bbq baked beans. It also came with bbq sauce, a chipotle cherry bbq sauce and a couple of rolls. I should have known something would be off with the tri tip when the temp selections were medium, medium well or well done. Nothing rarer. I ordered it medium and it was well done of course, not a trace of pink in it. Furthermore there was no smoke ring. How is that possible? To make it even more insulting, the piece was literally 1 inch thick. Just 1 piece a inch thick. No bark on the outside, no seasoning. It was the worst tri tip ive ever had. The baby back ribs were a failure as well. Once again no smoke ring and the meat was not tender, did not fall off the bone nor even pull off the bone. The bbq sauce was ok but the chipotle cherry one was not. The mashed potatoes and beans came in a 1 inch high container, with the mashed potatoes being ok (usually places over salt them, they didnt here) and the bbq baked beans being very good. I had to dip the tri tip in the beans to get the meat down. The brisket was good but not falling apart like brisket should be but it did have a smoke ring. The stand out was the chicken. I will be back for the chicken for sure and try some of the other meats. It had a very nice flavor with all of the rub and seasonings on the outside. It was cooked perfectly as well. I ended up paying just over $100 for this and was NOT happy. The prices here are way too high for how sub par the meats were cooked and tasted. The baby back ribs could have been from any diner with how meh they were and the Tri Tip was not cooked by someone who knows what they are doing. I debated giving this a 2 star but over half the meal was not pleasing. read more

Even though I don't usually go out for American food, Wood Ranch was a great choice for the occasion. We were seated pretty quickly, and it was a fun place to watch the World Cup with plenty of TVs around the bar, dining room, and patio. I ordered the brisket with sweet potato fries and roasted broccoli, and the brisket was very tender. The pomegranate martini was also really good, with a nice balance of sweet and citrus. My favorite part was actually the complimentary garlic rolls. They come out warm with garlic and herbs, and I asked for olive oil and vinegar instead of butter, which paired perfectly. Great spot to go after a movie! Went during lunch time, and was seated immediately. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was made perfectly. For food, I got the America's Best BBQ Tri Tip, and it was just okay. The bread was pretty tough to bite into, but the meat was good. I would not order a loaded baked potato again; I'd just get the regular (loaded baked potato is an upgrade). I got wild and ordered the OreO Cookie Crunch for dessert and it was delish! Came for Mother's day lunch and left super pleased! My family (group of 9) decided to come to Wood Ranch Irvine to eat lunch and celebrate! I did call 3 weeks prior to the actual day and the girl that picked up the phone denied a reservation for our table and wouldn't provide me a reason why. Another one of my group members was shopping at the Spectrum the next day and decided to test her luck and was able to get a reservation for the same day and time. When we arrived, there were probably 5 tables maximum (so not sure why we were denied a reservation before). Nonetheless, our waitress was amazing and attentive to our requests. We were provided with tons of bread refills and they even stored our cake in their walk-in fridge! Food: Baby Back Ribs (8.5/10): This was my main dish! I got the whole rack (it was too much for me) and got a baked potato and corn OFF the cob as my sides. The baked potato was fluffy and warm with sides of sour cream and onion and butter so you can add as much or as little as you want. Their corn is usually on a cob but I requested it off so it's easier to eat. Fried Onions (8.3/10): These are the perfect appetizers (besides the free bread)! We ordered a large onion for the entire table and it was completely gone after a few minutes. They're deep fried onions that you can dip into barbecue sauce or ranch. Guacamole (8/10): This was another table favorite! They put a huge glob of guacamole on a piece of red lettuce. It comes with chips and salsa! The guacamole has huge chunks of avocados mixed in. Hey, I enjoyed this quite a bit! I've only been to Woodfire Grill restaurant at the Grove, in LA once with friends. We had a good time and this location did not disappoint either. This time I was by myself though, just to grab a quick dinner. The insight of the restaurant isn't that species but it's nice and cozy. Since I was by myself, there's absolutely no point to wait for a table so I grab a seat at the bar and order some baby back ribs. Delicious! Word of advice to anyone visiting this place. Though it tasted great the meat quality was on a lower side. There was just way too much fat and little meat on those ribs. At the end of the visit though I left satisfied with everything, the atmosphere, service and the food. Sure it wasn't a five star steak dinner but this isn't very a fancy steakhouse establishment either so for the low quality meat and dry corn that I had received it was definitely a B+ experience. read more

I got the Tri Tip Salad entree, which was pretty good - coated with a vinagerette sauce, crumbled bleu cheese, baby tomatoes, sprinkled cheese (at the table), and also the decent-sized strips of Tri Tip. Cooked to a good consistency. Got our refills on the fountain drinks. They are pretty much bottomless, which was really great. Table service was mostly good. Though the waiter lady seemed off to me, never making any eye contact with me, but she did with other members of our group. When she would come over to check on us, didn't really look at the entire table. Came to be off-putting to me and messed with the table experience for me. The food came out really fast almost within 5 mins which was shocking! The briskets were tender and soft but the flavor was just not there. And their BBQ sauce was just a generic one you can find anywhere. The ribs were good though. Good flavor and smokiness to the rub. I enjoyed the broccoli and the asparagus sides as it was fire roasted and had some texture and flavor to it. If they had more selections on BBQ sauces table side for the BBQ along with a little more flavorful and comparable brisket to some great BBQ joints around town I would definitely be coming back again for more BBQ. It wasn't the best night for the kitchen, but I'll tell you it was the best night for the staff that was working . What makes this burger "exceptional" you ask? Well, for starters, the ground beef is very high quality, a perfect 80/20 fat ratio that by itself is simply mouth watering. The bun is a buttery brioche and is lightly toasted. The lettuce and tomato, fresh and flavorful. And the CHEESE! Oh man the CHEESE!, there is plenty of it but perfectly balanced and does not over power the beef. The accompanying fries are a nice addition and stay crispy throughout the meal. Better food and more reasonably priced than expected. Knowing there are more than a few of these, I expected overpriced, homogenized food. Instead, everything seemed fresh and made to order including the specialty martinis -- also "reasonably" priced at $15. Devon and the support staff were nearly perfectly attentive. I didn't catch our server's name, but I want to commend her on her exceptional service. According to our receipt, her name is Tingna. I also didn't recall that Wood Ramch serves complimentary garlic bread which is both soft, warm and delicious. For my entree I opted for the BBQ Two Item Combo which included 2 proteins (pictured are the brisket and baby back ribs) and 2 sides (baked potato and mac 'n cheese). I enjoyed every morsel, but I will say that the brisket was on the dryer side and I wish it was more moist. We washed down our meal by sharing a pomegranate lemonade. The restaurant is clean and it was a quiet night, not too busy, so we were able to get out food quite quickly. Their table bread was absolutely divine! It's sourdough and it tasted good with their ranch! I'm picky about ranch but they have really good ranch. I got their chicken sandwich with Mac & cheese! Wow, absolutely great! Never tasted a chicken sandwich with coleslaw- it was different and quite delicious, I asked for a side of ranch to dip the sandwich and gave it better taste. I haven't been to Wood Ranch in ages! They have all their holiday decor up and the fireplace was lit. It was very cozy vibes. The service was fantastic! Anytime my tea got to the 1/2 way mark, our server would bring out a new drink. She made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Breast, which comes with 2 sides. I ordered grilled asparagus and fries. We also had their signature garlic rolls. The rolls were so good, but a little too greasy for my taste. The food was great and the chicken was cooked very well. My only 1 thing is that most of the food had far too much salt - especially the asparagus. With less butter and salt, this would be an A+! I can't wait to come back for dessert sometime soon! Perfect amount of dressing. The chicken was tender. I also had avocado added to the salad. This was a great addition. The tri tip was not as tender as we would have liked. The tri tip came with baked beans and a baked potato. Those were good. Nothing on the dessert menu sounded great so we chose to go elsewhere for dessert. Wow! this was my first time trying and I was pleasantly surprised. The garlic dinner rolls were TO DIE FOR!! (and unlimited!!!) I got the beef rib dinner plate and it was SOOOO yummy!! I loved the peanut coleslaw. The ribs itself were so juicy and succulent. I was nervous it was gonna be dry but it exceeded my expectations! So much better than Lucille's in my opinion. I ordered the BBQ Chopped Salad with tri tip and subbed romaine lettuce instead of mixed greens. It was tasty! The sauce on the tender tri tip was great and mixed well with the ranch dressing. The other ingredients were sparse though aside from lettuce and dressing. My colleague ordered BBQ Chopped Salad with chicken and cleaned his plate so it must have been good. Check out the pictures. We went during an off peak time so it was a bit quiet inside. The outdoor patio seating looks fun for a summer day and they also have heaters outside in case it gets cold. It's also well shaded.
