Always untidy looking with trash on the floor. A regular sweep would make the place more presentable. This is my second or third visit and the floor always has the same untidy look. Sorry but I have to keep it real. Staff were friendly and helpful. They cut the crispy chicken in half as requested with no complaints. That was nice of them. I didn't notice the flavoring on the sweet potato fries first visit but this time we did. You might want to confirm what they sprinkle in case of allergies or taste preferences. I'm calling it out because we recommended them last visit. Tastes good - but they are not plain so make sure to ask. My partner was craving their food after our last visit and he left happy this weekend too. I've upped to 4 stars based on his feedback. Melts are not for me. The patty melt is way too greasy for my liking. Photos attached.

The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was delicious and pretty large but the sandwich completely fell apart quickly. More sauce was on the outside of the bun and wrapper than in the sandwich. I would pass on the Garlic Parm fries, they were a little greasy. Plain fries may have been better. The place was busy. One of the few spots in this area that stays open late (2am or 3am most days). They need to work on their cleanliness. The dining area was pretty messy, dirty tables, floors had food and napkins, bench I almost sat at was dirty. Took my food to-go. parking in this lot during the day sucks but if you go late then there are plenty of spaces.

Yum! My avocado bacon melt was really tasty. I loved the amount of avocado and bacon on it. My only complaint is how greasy it was. Make sure to have plenty of napkins for your hands!

Hair in food. My husband and I flew into San Diego and checked into our hotel late night & was starving- so ordered Door Dash- only to spend $46 on watery Mac & cheese and a hair in my burger- which in midbite- was entangled in the meat as I pulled the strand out of my mouth. I did write feedback on the Door Dash order- and to The Melt main web site- no response so far.... total crickets. Thanks for the absence of customer service.

Came here last min for a quick bite, and this one place turned out to be pretty good. The service was quick, and the food came out quick. My grilled cheese sandwich was good, and the tomato soup was delish. My boyfriend ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and he said the chicken was okay -- just a little bland. The chicken was big, and the fries were great which was what made it good. If you want a quick bite, I would recommend this place

We were trying to find a good brunch area for a Sunday afternoon in the La Jolla area.. It turned out to be very tough with average wait times in other places being 2 hours long!!! We gave up and decided to drive back from the shores to this plaza as we remembered coming here in thd past. No regrets!!! Ordering was easy through the kiosk provided upon entering and seating was available to be chosen from. I like that there's extra chairs piled up on the side so if you need an extra chair, you can grab one. They come with a beeper after you order so it makes it easier when you need to pickup your food. There was a wait but I think the food was made fresh in house so there was nothing wrong with that. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed our experience here again because the classic grilled cheese was DELICIOUS and toasted perfectly. We shared that between the two of us while I got the Crispy Classic and the Sweet Potato fries (amazing, best sweet potato fries I've ever had. My girlfriend got the Meltburger and she enjoyed every single bite too. It was flavorful and had good sauce to keep it juicy. We were done with our meal and needless to say, such a big worth it meal for our time and when we wanted/needed food asap!!! I DO wish they fix the doorhinges though. Everytime someone walked out the doors, they squeaked extremely sharp and loudly so that made it quite annoying!!! We would've eaten outside because of that but unfortunately all the tables outside were taken so we had to deal with that. Please do fix that!

The Melt in La Jolla is a tasty little spot that hits the mark when you're craving something crispy and comforting! I stopped in for a late night bite. The crispy chicken sandwich was golden and satisfying, and the fries were nicely seasoned with a good crunch--definitely comfort food material. That said, there was a bit of a weird bitter aftertaste, maybe from the oil? Noticeable enough to mention. Hoping its because something was overpriced and burnt, not because of reused oil... hence, the 4 stars not 5 Now, let's talk about the *real* hidden gem: the soda! So refreshing and full of flavor--I think they said locally made, and if that's the case, kudos to whoever's behind it. Definitely not your average fountain drink. Fun vibe, fast service, and good eats overall. Just a little tweak to that fryer oil and this place would be golden (literally and figuratively)! Might come back?

As a burger fanatic, I really appreciate the quality and consistency at The Melt. The burgers are always cooked right, the cheese is on point, and everything tastes fresh. The service has been great every time I've come in--friendly, fast, and organized even during busy hours. The atmosphere is clean and has a good energy to it. Definitely a solid spot if you're looking for a reliable burger place in La Jolla. I'll be coming back.

This might be the first 5 I have ever given for a fast food restaurant. I wanted max protein and healthy as possible so I ordered the Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich with cheddar cheese and I added tomato and I got the ranch dressing on the side. We used the kiosk to place our order which was easy and intuitive. The only change I would make to the kiosk ordering app is to be able to have the sauce that you want on the side. I had to order without any sauce then I asked for the ranch dressing when I picked up my order. 1. My sandwich had a decent size piece of chicken. 2. The chicken was tender with every bite. 3. Tasty combination of chicken, cheddar cheese, and a butter toasted potato bun. I was thoroughly enjoyed the entire sandwich. They have small cups for water which was perfect for us. I enjoyed the dill pickle spear. It was a nice thick spear that was fresh with great flavor. There was zero trace of food left on my tray. I enjoyed dipping my sandwich into the ranch dressing. It elevates the flavors even more. The dining area was clean and we enjoyed the vibe of the music and of the restaurant.

Plenty of parking. Casual atmosphere. You order at a kiosk. Sugarcane sodas only. Good burgers, fries, and one of the best cookies n cream milkshakes I've ever had. I had the spicy mission melt burger. It had lots of flavor, was juicy, but barely had any avocado. I'd return if I'm in the area to try other menu items!

Not too sure I will be coming back. Giving my phone number to be notified that my order is ready does not make me feel comfortable. Employees can use their voice or some non verbal communication to let me know when it's ready. When my order was ready, one employee threw it on the counter and when I looked in it, the containers were extremely greasy on the outside. When I asked the girl about this, she had to take her AirPods out to listen, and reply to me. She shrugged me off as if I were bugging her. The customer service doesn't seem to be a protocol there. So, I'd rather go somewhere else where my meal isn't thrown on the counter and I don't have to wait for an employee to take out their AirPods for some service. read more

2021/05/22 17:30 Solid spot for all the cheesy foods--grilled cheese, mac and cheese, cheeseburgers. We got a Three Cheese Classic, Mac Daddy without bacon, and Garlic Parmesan Fries. Here are the highlights: - The grilled cheeses were pretty big, big enough to share between 2 people. - The Mac Daddy was a novelty that I just had to try, and it was actually quite good. The mac and cheese itself was great. The combination of the gooey cheese sauce plus the soft macaroni plus the stretchy cheddar plus the crusty bread was awesome. - The fries were good, if a little oily. They were reminiscent of truffle fries but without the truffle. - Although the Three Cheese Classic was a good grilled cheese, we all agreed that we could easily make one at home ourselves. read more

I ordered the original melt burger with lettuce and tomato and it was decent but certainly not worth nine dollars. The Parmesan fries added another $4.99 so with a Diet Coke it was $20 for lunch. I'm sorry but In-N-Out Burger blows this place away. Maybe it's because it's in La Jolla so people think that everybody is rich? The burger was just OK, Certainly not worth the price. I ordered the impossible meltburger that came with raw onions, tomato, lettuce, pickle/jalapeño mix, cheese and melt sauce. Let me tell you the size and the taste of this burger is well with the price. It was juicy and all the ingredients were super fresh. I really though the pickle/jalapeño mix added so much flavor to the burger I really enjoyed it. And the bun was nice and fluffy. As far as the fries go they were nice and hot when I got them and they were seasoned to perfection One would argue the price might be a little steep at $20 for burger and fries. But it was well worth it in my option. It was quick and easy to order online and pick it up as well. 4/5 - would recommend. read more

Talk about MELT in your mouth delicious! I really like this place. Anytime I'm in the area I most definitely stop in here for a burger! Just all juicy fatty goodness! I really enjoy the Sicilian chicken along with a pickle on the side. Also let me tell you, I don't know where they get those pickles but they are the bomb! Go so good with the sandwich. The portion sizes are a good Customer service is good as well. They make the food Hot and in a timely manner. I know that when I go here if I am expected to wait longer than usual I know its only because they are so good and they get extremely busy but its definitely worth the wait. They are very organized as well. I love their texting feature that it lets you know when your order is ready all you need is to provide your phone number after placing your order with the Cashier. I can go next door for a smoothie or a coffee if I want instead of just waiting around or any of the near by shops its great! Ordering First impression is the amazing cashier, her name was Erika, she was super awesome, helpful, and even ran out to give me my fries! So also kind. I was recommended the spicy mission burger with a side of cheddar bacon ranch! The food The burger was AHHHMAZING HOLY 100000/10 the spice was kickin, burger was drippin, my mouth was watering. Garlic Fries 9/10 I love it , if it had the garlic infused ranch sauce Cheddar bacon ranch 1000/10 couldn't make it worse if they bc tried(don't try though) My girlfriend got The Patty Melt 8/10 Friends gave Italian Job 8/10 really good but not mind blowing MAC daddy 8/10 good but a sauce would make it amazing! My sister and I wanted burgers and it's always hard to find food late that accommodates dietary restrictions. This place sounded amazing and we could get a plant based patty, also remove all the dairy. I assumed this couldn't go wrong. Unfortunately as you can see in the photos, even though no cheese was requested, it was clearly disregarded and added anyways. This makes the burger inedible. It was beyond disappointing. read more

Kind of a problem that this place has free delivery on DD during COVID. All of their sandwiches are amazing and I appreciate all of the vegetarian and beyond meat choices. I especially love dipping the grilled mac and cheese sandwich into their tomato soup.This is probably my favorite place for comfort food and I can't really think of any other restaurant that meets all of your cheesy/carby needs in one place. If you live close, definitely get takeout so the business can get as much $ as possible during Covid times. read more

Dont waste your money. Dont do it, the food was overrated. Basic, and I mean basic bland food. I tried the burger, it was trash. I tried the macaroni and it tasted like carpets and super glue. I would've paid double for basic velveeta mac n cheese from the dollar store. Food was not good, everything else was cool tho. read more

If you are craving something cheesy, this is the place to go. I have been here twice, and will probably find myself coming back whenever I am hungry after class for comfort food. Ordering on the kiosk, you will end up having very little to no interaction with the workers. However, it will display more add-on options to let you customize your order how you may like it. While you can probably do this up at the counter, I found it more helpful being able to look at what I could exactly add. The only issue I may have would have to do with the time it takes from ordering to getting the food, but I tend to be more lenient on this matter at this place. This could vary depending on the time of day but both times I came around dinner (5 pm). read more

This is my second time coming here and it is, hands down, my favorite place to get an impossible burger. The sauce is one of a kind and adds so much flavor. The melty cheese is another delicious factor. The malt was also super delicious. I ordered from the melt and my go to is usually the tomato soup and grilled cheese. I ordered to go, grabbed my order, and went home. I got home and open my order to find out they gave me a Mac and cheese instead of the soup. I was super disappointed because I'm a little sick and was really looking forward to it. It's not like it was busy.. in the whole time I stood there, one other customer placed an order at the kiosk. So in the end, I enjoyed relatively fresh and hot fries (which were actually really good), but a lukewarm and somewhat dry burger. So it's hard to tell if the burger really lacked flavor, or if it had just dried out from sitting around for 15 minutes before being eaten. All-in-all, I think the potential was there for me to probably give it another try at some point. But, definitely not the experience I was hoping for.

" Unusual, Different, & Really Good ! " My wife and I went to the YELP Elite Week at the Melt restaurant in the La Jolla Village Shopping center, and had a great meal. Shayenne greeted us at the order counter and was very nice as she answered all of our questions about the menu items. My wife ordered the Patty Melt Sandwich which had grilled angus & wagyu burger patty, sweet, caramelized onions, melted swiss and provolone cheese, with spicy mustard on fresh artisan bread. It was delicious and very tasty ! For a side dish my wife had the Trio Mac & Cheese with creamy cheddar, fontina & provolone cheese, and crispy onions. For my meal I had the Meltburger which had a 1/3 pound of signature Angus & Wagyu beef, chopped, grilled and filled with loads of melted cheddar, jalapeños, pickles and Melt sauce on a toasted, artisan bun. The Jalapenos were not too spicy, and the in house special Melt Sauce was very tasty. The Artisan Bun they used for my Melt Burger was so tender and delicious. For my side dish, I had the crispy sweet potato fries, sprinkled with parmesan cheese which were very good. To drink we tried some of their craft made fountain soda drinks. Everything at The Melt, from the food quality, customer service, and atmosphere, is nothing short of amazing! As soon as you step inside, staff greet you, even by name if they know you. Then you notice the tasteful, fun decor, with inviting tables and colorful signs, which are humorous and clever, touting The Melt's food quality and mission. I've been there almost every day since I discovered them in March. Their food is tasty, fresh, and affordable. I've even had some experiences with staff that went above and beyond my expectations. Candy often works the hours I visit the restaurant; she is friendly, professional, and generous, and once offered me a free mac n cheese dish, "just to try it." I loved it! I also see Erica all the time working behind the counter. She is very personable, quick to help, and her attitude is upbeat and can-do. I did a "fast food" search on Apple Maps and found this place nearby. So off I went. I order her the Classic Cheese Sandwich and I got the Queso de Mayo. Damn, that Queso de Mayo was great. Prior to ordering, we had a lot of questions about menu items and a lot of special requests. Hisam, a pleasant young man, answered each one of our questions thoroughly and most importantly with a smile. The entire staff was very friendly and accomodating. It's rare finding great customer service now a days, especially late at night. We rarely write a review, but could not pass on writing one for Hisam at The Melt. Absolutely love The Melt in La Jolla! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm and welcoming. The grilled cheese sandwiches here are next level - perfectly crispy on the outside and melted to perfection inside. I went with the classic, but I'm definitely coming back to try more! This place is great especially since I'm a cheesey person. The name says it all! I love cheese on everything. My spicy mission burger was delicious! Plus the the nice gentleman Nick was very attentive he had phenomenal customer service. He wouldn't stop moving making sure all the guest were happy. Which is hard to come by these days. The Melt Sandwich has seriously become one of my favorite spots. Their BBQ burger is insanely good super juicy, the right amount of smoky flavor, and the sauce hits perfectly without being too sweet. You can tell they use fresh ingredients because everything tastes on point. The bun's toasted just right and holds everything together without getting soggy. Edgar is the most pathetic manager I have ever run into. My whole family had been coming here since this place opened. This is the 2nd time Edgar has basically spit in my face. The owner acted shocked last time, told me that it would never happen again. This us what happens when you pay a bunch of thugs minimum wage to run a brand new eatery. Worst service imaginable. Kiosks do not work nor will they show you how to use them. Expect the thug treatment. read more

Superb food and staff. My hubby and I both ordered a melt burger and shared sweet potato fries. The employee at reg recommended we add ranch on the side for our fries and caramelized onions to our burgers. She was even nice enough to offer us a remake on our food if we didn't like any of it since it was our first time. We loved all of the recommendations so much we considered going back for seconds! We stumbled across The Melt after getting my vaccine in La Jolla, and I'm so glad we did! The food is incredible. After our first visit, we got home and realized our order was totally wrong; we called and the manager Logan not only refunded our order but gave us a completely free meal the next time we came in. Talk about customer service! We don't get to La Jolla often but when we do, you better believe we'll be going here from now on. read more

Stopped by Saturday night for a bite and left with a burger I will never forget . Double spicy mission good lawd blew my socks off.
