One person was on their cell phone, trying to find someone who could help them ring up the purchase of a gift card. First time at this location, there is room for improvements but at the same time is does have positives. After sitting at the table for nearly 10 mins, out waitress finally showed up. Usually they're at you're table within 2-4 minutes but I guess with this location just opening they're a bit slow. The food took longer than we anticipated at this location than others. The food was great, but the service was slow. They forgot one "fondone" entree and that took like 15 mins to get while we already had our entrees and one family member didn't. So we had to give food to him because we felt bad but they did comp us for it and try their best to apologize. I am pretty familiar with TMP having visited in DE and PA and was pretty excited to see one pop up so close. Pros: Reservations were easy to get, no wait when we arrived, staff was friendly. Cons: Table was too small and uncomfortably crowded for our party of 7. Waitress was MIA for long periods, so orders took forever and dinner took 2.5 hours. I preferred the old menu, but I appreciate as a franchise they have no control over that. Also they no longer prepare your fondue tableside, so they skimped quite a bit on the cheese - it was very watery. It took a while to alert the waitress and then another while to get the replacement. I will give it another chance, as maybe they were having an off night, but our first experience was a little disappointing. read more

We were very excited that a Melting Pot recently opened in south Jersey. We had friends visiting from out of town and we took our kids to burn off some energy at SkyZone and decided to have an early dinner at TMP, since it is right in the same parking lot. At first, our large party (4 kids, 4 adults, and a baby) was seated at two tables that were far enough apart to make easy conversation uncomfortable. We asked about seating that would accommodate us better and were initially told there was nothing available. However, the owner came by and showed us two other tables that worked much better for our party. So that was a big plus right off the bat. Our early dinner went pretty smoothly after that. Until it was time to order dessert, when the waitress spilled an entire glass of ice water on me while I was nursing my 1 month old baby, soaking us both. I understand that accidents happen, but an appropriate response to such an accident might be "oh my goodness, I am so sorry!" not "how did that happen?" While she did bring towels to help clean up, she never actually apologized or asked if I or the baby were okay, and she mostly avoided us after that. She also didn't let the owner know about the accident, so when the owner came by and asked how things were and my husband told her what had happened, she was completely surprised. BUT, she apologized and came back over and made things right with us, ending our experience on a very positive note. Initially, I didn't know what to expect from TMP (considering that I've never been to any before). However, if you're looking for a fun eating experience, this is the place to go! Everything from the service to the food was exceptional. The best part was that you had the option of cooking your own food (which is slightly cheaper than having them prepare it). We had a great experience at this location! I'm a little taken aback by all the not so positive reviews... But you can't please everyone I guess. The few bad reviews couldn't stop me from going to one of my favorite restaurant chains, The Melting Pot... Especially now that this one is only 10 minutes from our house. We did the combo with cheese fondue, salads, and chocolate... And added on the sirloin and lobster tail fondue entrees. I highly recommend upgrading to the Rosemary fries with your cheese fondue!! We ordered the buffalo cheese one... Very good but you can taste the wine/liquor they make it with so beware if you don't drink. Both salads were delicious. Entrees were also a hit.., the lobster tail was fresh and sirloin went very well with all the dipping sauces. We ended with the yin and yang chocolate fondue. I always wish we got two orders of chocolate! It was delicious. We both started with cocktails, fiancé got an old fashioned, I had sangria. Then we switched over to the wine flights which was a great option for only $14 each. You get 4 wine tastings to go with each part of your meal. We will definitely be back! Ruined my birthday dinner. After two hours of horrible service we still didn't have our meals so we left. We weren't the only ones leaving either - two other parties left disgusted as well, one of them arguing with the manager. We had an amazing dinner experience at the Melting Pot in Maple Shade tonight. We had a fantastic waitress named Ashley who explained the menu, kept us talking and laughing throughout the evening, and was very bubbly. The special wine, 14 hands Cabernet was a great bottle. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff left a birthday card and presented the celebrant with a brownie with a birthday candle. My husband and I went there to try it for the first time. Keep in mind, we went on a Friday night with no reservation, and he was wearing his biker vest and I was in my Black Sabbath t-shirt, so we were not exactly dressed up. Regardless of how we were dressed, we were treated like VIPs from the moment we walked in. We only had to wait 15 minutes for a table. We got the combo, cheese fondue, salad, and chocolate fondue. We added the chicken potsticker fondue with the veggie broth. My husband had gastric sleeve surgery and he can't eat much, so we split one meal. I brought my son here for his first time, we had a group of 8 people. All our server cared about was upping our bill. Most of the vegetables were mushrooms and hardly any potatoes & broccoli. We ordered the four course meal, and she charged us for two extra fondue cheeses, over charging us $50. I don't think I'll be back to this one. Not much I can say about this place. The food was decent though nothing I'd really recommend. The salad was barely edible which was disappointing because the host said some people come just for the salads. It certainly was not worth the price. This is the first thing that comes to mind when I think back to my visit here. Expect to pay at least $50 per person not including tip. The service was mediocre. Our server wasn't very engaging and didn't seem to know anything about the menu and his best recommendation was "I tried that one last night and it was good." I'm surprised other people in their review mentioned how their waiter cooked their meal for them. When we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty and it remained mostly empty the entire time we were there. Our server was defiantly not busy despite this we barely saw him. The seating was private but I felt the fondue pot was placed in such a way that neither of us could reach it comfortably. Given that we were sitting in a booth we couldn't move closer. Neither of us are small/shorter people so this seemed to be a bit surprising. I will likely not ever go back here except for maybe the dessert. I love the melting pot, and this location doesn't disappoint!! A group of us went for dinner last night and everything from the service to food didn't disappoint. We did the sampler and added the fondone and it was great. What a wonderful idea for those that don't want to handle raw food. The wine selection was great-- our server Jessica made some great suggestions and the food was wonderful-- u can't go wrong with cheese and chocolate! And the best part was they didn't rush you it's a great place to catch up with people over dinner-- we will def be back! read more

Cant say i had a great experience. Took about 15 min, at a basically non crowded bar, to get a drink. They didnt have beefeaters gin. Menu was very confusing, and very small portions. Had reservations at 7, in which they were ready at 7. Ended up leaving at 1030, and spending 300 for 4 people. Other people in my party enjoyed it but, i really hate paying 70 each and have to wait for $5 miller lights and eat a small salad and some bread, chips, and fruit, dipped in cheese. Not impressed. I've been waiting to go to the Melting Pot since it opened. We went on a Sunday night & the place was empty. We ordered cheese fondue and it was OK. Nothing incredible. Dippers were fresh, cheese was hot enough. We got the broth next, then the entree selections (shrimp, chicken, beef). They recommended 2-3 pp. 2 was more than enough. Everything was fine, nothing remarkable. Sauces weren't very flavorful IMO. After we finished, the service seems to come to a standstill. The pots of broth sat BOILING on the burners for about 20 minutes until our server finally showed up. We were sweating and trying to figure out how to turn them off. My husband got a steam burn in the process. Dessert came after another 15 minutes. Again, adequate but nothing special. Bill was over $200 for 4 people. I won't be back again. read more

I took my gf here for a birthday dinner with a Groupon. Included was a cheese fondue. We decided to get the Loaded Baked Potato variety. It was delicious and just the way fondue is supposed to be! In terms of main entree, the Groupon included two meats and included veggies/various dipping sauces. We opted to cook the meat in the broth vs oil, which was way lighter and tasted delicious. As for the service, our waitress was fantastic, she checked up on us several times, offered an honest opinion of what was good and what wasn't as great. We went to the melting pot today for my little sisters birthday. We made reservations for 11:30 assuming they wouldn't be busy when they opened. We were seated pretty quickly and the hostess was very helpful and friendly. Our waiters name was Ryan C. He was also helpful and friendly. Are only issue was how long it took for an order of chicken fingers. They literally took 45 minutes. We had to ask about them three times. My mom and I had been finished our lunch for a good half hour before the chicken finally came. Although my mom was annoyed, things like this don't bother me too much. Our waiter apologized for the long wait. Apparently the cooks never even started the chicken. Anyway, the manager paid for our chocolate dessert to apologize for the long wait, and our waiter gave us a chocolate discount for next time. I thought that was above and beyond a nice gesture. So it definitely out weighed the super long wait for chicken nuggets. read more

My sister and I took my parents there for Mom's 74th birthday. I'd never been there before, but the idea sounded fun...until I learned it's more than just dipping bread into melted cheese. YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO BOIL YOUR OWN FOOD IN OIL. The waiter swiftly explained to us how many minutes each to cook our raw shrimp or chicken in the oil or broth vs. how long to cook the pork or beef in the oil or broth. All the times varied between 90 seconds to 2.5 minutes (I think). REALLY? I asked him if he had that on a card or something that we could read and he scoffed at me like I was an idiot. "Is there a timer?" I asked...he says use your iPhone. Hmm... The flavor of the different food ranged OK (salads & dessert) to second rate (at best) for the meat. So, 4 dinners and $300 later, yes precisely $253.00 plus tip = $300 we all agreed NEVER again. read more

Went there recently for a birthday dinner. I definitely recommend calling a reserving a private table. The experience will be more enjoyable and not as loud. Other tables reminded me of the cheesecake factory. Servers were ok.. not as attentive though. I gave four stars because I did like the overall experience and I was fortunate enough to have known about reserving a private table. Also the decor of the place was very nice. Food was good. Chose the original fondue style. Definitely pricey I would consider it a $$$ establishment rather then a $$ that some sites listed it as being. I do recommend the ying and yang martini. read more

First of all, I hate eating out. Most of the time you're paying extra just so someone can bring you your food, and this is especially true in chain restaurants. The staff is ok I guess if you're into that corny atmosphere where people pretend to care. But if you're like me and only care about what you came for (the food) then really save the time and money and don't come here. The menu is confusing. They should just have prices for each cheese pot and dipping items. We got the french onion and the plain cheddar. The french onion was ok, although it was panera bread quality type food, and the cheddar just plain sucked. Cheese Whiz would've been a better improvement. The bread tasted like it was a couple days old. I seriously got a roll from a deli earlier in the day that was fresher. Get fresh bread and warm it up. The veggies weren't anything special and the fruit was ok. Next off is salads, I cant really complain about the salad, I liked the california though it was a bit on the small side. The fondont's we got (so clever).... so disappointing. We got the tuna and teriyaki beef with the lemon, lobster, and another dipping sauce that just tasted like gravy. The beef came already smothered in some asian sauce that was better that the dipping sauces, and you only get 6 bites with a crappy little salad next to it. I just had a salad why are you giving me another one? Probably just to make it look like more food. The tuna was also ok but also just a couple little bites. Onto dessert we got two chocolate fondues with two plates of assorted treats. It's about 5 slices of banana, 5 strawberry halves, 2-1cm cubed brownies,2-1cm cubed poundcake, 4 covered marshmellows, a rice crispy treat, and maybe something else. I liked the chocolates and the treats, but I think it's kinda hard to mess that up. Anyway I have never wrote a review on anything and I usually just chalk up bad experiences and don't go to places I dislike but I feel like I have a right to complain after getting the bill of almost $150. Really people you can go to nicer places with better, fresher food and get more of it for cheaper. read more
