Feeling let down in the fondue department. It's such a good idea but restaurants can't seem to execute it well which sucks. I have been to melting pot before and was happy to see one move local, especially since it was unlikely I would go into the city to eat there. Anyways came with A few friends and it was underwhelming. Hot cheese and chocolate is good pretty much anywhere, so it wouldn't take much to step up the game. Specials menu was on a piece of paper which just makes it look cheap given that place is not. Had some happy hour selections and got the limoncello martini. Ehh. Again nothing life changing. Here's where they could do better, clean the walls, change the lighting, tidy up staff. Other than that going in for a drink and chocolate will be tasty, better get it while you can. I've taken my kids there many times. We got there early before the rush. Jacob was our best server we've had. He was quick with putting in orders. He was prompt with getting us to our next course. He didn't forget extra requests from my kids..... extra teriyaki sauce, no veggies, extra pretzel bread, extra blondies. Paige was a good teammate as well. After my experience at this location this week, I emailed the location directly to address my concerns of the lack of service and the bill that was not explained in person properly. I was so excited to hear that Melting Pot was coming to Maple Shade. I was a frequent visitor of the Philly location and was sad to see it go. Last night, my boyfriend and I excitedly made our way to the Maple Shade location and left pretty disappointed. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. The hostess explained that this location's menu was different from all other Melting Pot locations, but things still sounded pretty appetizing, so I didn't really bat an eye. Update: I was contacted by management asking to discuss my experience. I sent them my direct contact information and heard crickets. Service at its finest, friends. Update as of 9/16: Since my review, a member of management reached out noting a communication mishap and after speaking with him and hearing about the changes that had been made since my last visit, I decided to give this place a second shot. Since my original review, changes have been made that leaves this place feeling MUCH more like the Center City location in terms of quality and service. I really think that they take feedback seriously and I do honestly urge those who might've had less than favorable experiences like mine earlier this year a shot. I always have cravings for Melting Pot from time to time. Philadelphia location had been my go-to location. Now that MP has moved to Maple Shade, I follow. I know to make reservations before hand and never have to wait more than 15 minutes at Philly. This first time at the new location was a mess. Everyone was standing and waiting everywhere. Not enough parking spot for customers. My husband and I had to wait more than an hour after our reservation time! I feel that this could be managed better. The cheese and chocolate weren't mixed at the table which doesn't bother me, but I feel that the cheese and chocolate in the pot were so much less than Philly location. We are paying per person, not per pot, so I'm not sure why being so cheap. Our waiter West was awesome - he kept our table moving and try to get us in and out. read more

We are melting pot fanatics and have visited many different locations (this is our 6th location to visit). We came here for our second wedding anniversary on a Monday night. We had a reservation but it still took about 15 minutes for us to be seated. We were asked if we wanted to sit in the bar, but politely declined as it was out anniversary(we also informed the staff it was our anniversary on our reservation). About 5 minutes later we were seated in a booth...right next to the bar. It was fine because we were near a window but we definitely would have preferred something more intimate. We took advantage of the teacher promotion that was going on as well as the military discount so our meal ended up being a great price! The food was delicious, I would pretty much do anything for a pot of cheese with bread dippers, so good! Our waitress who was also the bartender was great and very caring. They even gave us an anniversary card and brought out a special "Happy Anniversary" plate and free glasses of champagne. I'll start by saying I enjoy The Melting Pot, I went to this location not knowing it was an "experimental" location so I was surprised to see the 4 course of cheese, salad, entrée and chocolate wasn't available and neither was the pick 3 or 4 entrée at a set price. The cheese is not melted at the table (unless requested, which we weren't aware of until after) so it comes out luke warm until the burner finally heats up. The entrées are à la carte and this location does offer a "fondone" selection that come to the table prepares and comes with a side, but I did not try that option. The rosemary garlic filet and mesquite bbq pork were both tasty but the 2 minute cook time for the pork was definitely not long enough for the size of the slices brought out. I will also point out that the portion sizes are decent and are filling. While not a terrible experience, I'm not a fan of the experimental changes. read more

I've becoming to The Melting Pot for about 9 to 10 years celebrating my sons birthday with large group reservations anywhere from 6 to 10 people over the years at various locations in NJ, PA and SC. Today I visited the Mapleshade location with manager Kristin and waiters Edwin and Kayla. I have made reservations online every time and selected some sort of birthday package or add on and when I get my confirmation call I verify every time that you received my request for the birthday package or add on. You used to have more options to pick from anywhere from balloons, keychain, chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries and always came with a personalized birthday card. The package / add on has always been forgotten about every time which I dont understand after I make sure I confirm multiple times and in the case like today I also confirmed on the way being seated to our table. They have always apologized and taken it off the bill free of charge for forgetting. Multiple problems today started by them being out of the poplets that came in my dinner entry. Kayla asked me what I would like to substitute and I chose the mushroom ravioli. I took a bite and realized they were cheese ravioli. I mentioned it to Edwin and he said they are out of the mushroom ravioli so the just gave me the cheese ravioli instead. I told him nobody said anything to me. What was the point in asking what I want as a substitute if you're not giving me what I asked for and not letting me know you're giving me something else? When getting ready to leave I handed Edwin my credit card discreetly so I can cover everyone's dinner. He then handed it to our other waitress Kayla who came up to me with the credit card machine for me to sign. I added on a tip not realizing the tip was already added at 20% since I wasnt given a receipt for the bill until after I paid and requested for the receipt to be printed. When I realized after looking at the printed receipt that I requested I told Kayla about it and she said "he didnt tell you?" I said no I didnt know and asked for my tip to be refunded. Also the chocolate covered strawberries that I requested as the birthday add on never came out until I asked about it again and then they realized they forgot about the add on as they always do. So now Kayla asked me for my credit card to charge me for the strawberries in a separate check. The manager Kristine came out to explain that she cant give me a refund for my tip she would need to refund the whole amount and recharge my credit card minus the tip being refunded. I brought up what happened with the add on I requested and explained this happens every time. There was no apology and there was no courtesy of saying you're right we forgot so sorry let me take it off your check on us. Nothing of that sort as they have done in the past. Edwin was with her and for some reason he did most of the talking considering the manager was right next to him. He said they offered me great service and I should have checked my receipt before I added on a tip to know the gratuity was included. I told him Kayla never gave me a receipt to check she just brought over the credit card machine with the total on the screen and an option to leave a tip which is what I did, leave a tip. I'm the customer with an issue that I'm bringing to your attention and you're telling what I should have done? That's not how you handle that situation. And what about everything they did wrong on their end who is addressing that? The manager's response was "for someone that's been unhappy with us you keep coming back". I responded that unfortunately my son enjoys the ambiance. What manager responds like that to a customer? Would you want to be talked to that way? The food is good, the ambiance is great, communication is awful, professionalism was awful and the service? Definitely don't want to be talked to in that way and I'm sure you wouldn't either. read more

Service Recovery. Last evening after about three months later I returned toThe Melting Pot. The restaurant deserves all the stars, service was back to normal or even better. The restaurant was extremely busy but everyone seemed happy and well taken care of. Kudos to the management and owners for working real hard to get it this level. I went to the Melting Pot with two friends and my younger sister on New Years Eve for my birthday. I had 815 reservations and we were seated on time. After being seated, it took about 20 minutes for a server to come to our table. The server, Paige, was very friendly and took our orders. Since the menu was set for the holiday and there was a lot on the menu my little sister would not eat, we ordered the kids menu items and Paige acknowledged this choice. From there, we had to wait about 45 minutes for our cheese to come out and then another 20 for our drinks. Although I understand it was a holiday, I feel this wait was a bit absurd, especially when many of the tables around us had been seen multiple times by their waiters/waitresses during our wait. We got our cheese and dippers, but still did not have our drinks or the fries listed on the menu. By the time we got our fries and drinks, we had already eaten all of the cheese and our salads. Also, Paige specifically asked us if we would like lemon in our sodas and we said yes. However, we did not get them. When we got our entrees, my little sister was given the adult meal, and only liked half of the meat options. By the time we finished up our main entree, it was 11 o'clock and we had to get our dessert to go since we had plans for the ball drop. We never got our sparkling cider that we paid for. my fiancé and I went for the first time here for our 7 yr anniversary dinner . our waiter was named Scott . he was very sweet and polite. checked on us , asked us if we enjoyed our food etc. he even cracked some jokes with us. at the end of our meal he told is this was his first week working at the melting pot. we were shocked because it seemed like he was there for a year or 2. My daughter-in-law and I just arrived home from our dinner at The Melting Pot in on Rt. 73. Kudos to our server Kyle, another server, Paige, and Jen a manager. All worked together to help make our experience fun. Kyle gave a great explanation of how ordering worked and gave us advise as to what he enjoyed and why. Paige, although not our server, jumped in when Kyle had his hands full with a large table and brought us what we needed. Jen helped clear the table and was also very personable. The Melting Pot comes to South Jersey! I have experienced dining at the melting pot before over in Philly. Tonight's dinner was magnificent and what I remember that makes fondue so great. I had a berry mohito to start the evening off. Had a cheese fondue bowl with bread, vegetables, and fruit. Excellent tasting food dipped in the cheese fondue. Had a chucutari plate that had various meats on them. The entree was shrimp, pan crusted chicken, veggies, and lobster tails. Very impressed by everything the restaurant had to offer. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I would have given it 3 stars a few months ago, because their menu did not follow the standard Melting Pot style menu. I feel like enough people have complained, because when we ate here a couple weeks ago, their menu had changed to the regular menu most Melting Pots share. Hands down the WORST dining experience I've had at a melting pot restaurant. We came in with a reservation and had to wait at the hostess stand for 5 minutes while she stared at the computer. During our first course, the cheese, did not melt. The liquid separated from the cheese and was not warming up. We raised the temperature on the burner ourselves because our waiter Joshua was MIA. When the cheese pot was removed, something must have overflowed onto the burner and continued to burn resulting in a horrible smell which stayed with us for the rest of the night. We had a longer conversation with the bus boy than our actual waiter. When we informed the waiter about the issue with the cheese, he excitedly offered to add fries onto our main course. We declined the offer. The drinks we ordered upon arrival were never bussed off our table until we asked to speak with the manager at the end of the night. After sharing our experience with the GM, she returned with two $15 discount cards which expired in 3 months. Needless to say we left them on the table and will not be returning. read more

Literally the worst experience ever! The hostess is nowhere to be found half the time aka the manager and he hides while there is a lobby full of customers piling around the hostess stand. They tell you a time and it's over an hour past the time your told you will be seated even if you have a reservation. Once you get seated you still wait almost 45 minutes for service and are lucky if you only wait that long. Poor customer service - the whole staff needs better training because they just make whatever they feel like making besides what you order. Poor customer service and poor staff. Service was very good at the Maple Shade, NJ, location. This was my first visit to any Melting Pot. Food was good, but I feel it was overpriced. They recommend 2-3 entrees (all small plates) and most are $9.95 each. I only got one based on that pricing. After the cheese fondue (bread cubes and diced fruit and veggies), entree, dessert and drinks, the cost at our table was $80 per person. I was shocked as I didn't feel the amount of food matched up to the pricing and while it was good tasting, it was not amazing. My lobster tail entree (again, just a few ounces) was 5 small bites. $10! Be prepared to spend more money than you expected to for dinner. read more

We were a little nervous to try this location due to the bad reviews. We usually go to King of Prussia but they didn't have any tables open so we decided to give it a shot. I think they stopped trying the experimental menu and transitioned into a normal Melting Pot menu. Food was delicious, our server, Marcus, was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was clean. We were still there for 2.5 hours but we didn't mind. The actual cooking the food takes a bit of time but honestly, it didn't feel like we were there that long. Never had to wait long in between courses and Marcus always care by to check on us and refill our drinks. If you've been avoiding this location because of bad reviews, give it a try! read more

My husband and children went to the melting pot last night for dinner and I will NEVER return or recommend this business to anyone! Our meal and server were lovely. We paid our bill and went on our way... when we pulled into our driveway I received a phone call from the hostess stating the server had given us the wrong bill... my husband checked the receipt and said nope it was our bill (it had the correct beverages, meals and kids meals all listed) the hostess was confused and said she would double check with the server what the issue was.. she came back and insisted the waiter had given us the wrong bill... our bill was $183 plus we tipped and paid over $200 so we were confused where the mix up was. A few minutes later a different woman who said she was the manager called saying we were given the correct bill but charged the wrong amount. We offered to pay the difference which was about $10 (which would have gone towards the tip because the bill itself was covered in full). She too was confused so she went and got our server, put us on speaker phone and LEFT THE ROOM. She left us on speaker phone to "work it out" with server... how unprofessional!! After that the server proceeded to tell us they had already voided the transaction and needed us to pay another $215.00 to cover the bill. meanwhile we already have $200 pending on our account from the initial payment. Finally a 3rd call came through from another man who said he was the manager demanding a payment. We explained we would pay the difference as we already have a pending payment. He proceeded to become angry and name call myself and husband on the phone and called the police on us! Your establishments are extremely unprofessional and hold no value to customer service. The mistake was not on our part and we paid and tipped our server very well before leaving! I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant before. read more

First time visiting this location after the one in Atlantic City closed and I was very pleased. I am a huge melting pot fan and would visit the Atlantic City location at least every month or two. This will now be my go to location because the service was out standing. The staff from start to finish was very accommodating especially our waitress. Be warned a full course meal may take up to 2 and a half hours but the point of having dinner to to socialize with your company and have a memorable experience. We had two fondue pots going throughout most of the meals. Appetizer had wisconsin trio in one pot and spinach artichoke in the other. Plenty of things to dip in including breads fruits and vegetables. Dinner had two pots going and cooking meats vegetables and seafood. Love the selection of dipping sauces, 6 of them!!! Yellow curry was my favorite. Salad was good. The dessert was excellent. We picked smores. Great variety of little cookies cakes and fruit to dip with. Worth the money we spent on the four course meal. Our waitress was gabriella who was so sweet and pleasant. She just started a week ago and we would gladly have her again. This is my first time writing a yelp review and the service was such that I thought it necessary. I was really excited to try out this restaurant after hearing such good reviews. Well, that excitement quickly changed to annoyance and complete disappointment. First the hostess rattled off how the restaurant worked so fast my head was spinning acting like seating us was an annoying ritual for her. Then we waiting a significant amount of time for our waitress- who then made our appetizer "The Alpine" with so much wine it wasn't even palatable. It was like we were dipping our bread in wine and eating it; perhaps it could have used the parts she dropped on the floor... but she said oh well and did offer to get more if we really wanted it. She spilled food all over the table which I understand could happen at a fondue place but this was excessive. She brought out our main course an HOUR AND A HALF after arriving- ironic because they aren't the ones cooking it. Again she dropped the vegetables into the pot and splashed broth all over us- no apologies nothing. We ate and waited another HOUR to receive our dessert menu. Keep in mind we had our very well behaved children (7 and 11) with us- one of them fell asleep because we were waiting so long. I actually had to find a manager to get a menu and order because our waitress was no where to be found. I also let him know that the elderly couple next to us (there for their anniversary) had been waiting 45 mins for their drinks. He then saw we had been sitting with our table covered dishes the whole time so he had another waiter come and clear our table. My one positive is that the dessert was satisfying - we had "The Original" and all of the fruit was fresh and there was a good selection of desserts to dip. All in all go here for dessert only. I visited the melting pot in Philadelphia before they moved here and all I can say is this place has plummeted. The service was horrible, much slower and much ruder than it was before. Granted we came to get food at 10 o clock however we had a reservation so I would think they would be prepared. The food was no where near the quality it usually is for the melting pit which even further depressed me. The dip ins were not fresh like they should be and at the end of it all the waitress had to make our dessert because she was unable to find the person who makes the chocolate granted the restaurant was still open at this time. Unfortunately I will not be coming back here as much as I love the melting pot. read more

This was my first time at any melting pot. Getting right to it, just save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else. The service itself was fine. We were seated, the waiter was very nice. The menu is insanely confusing. The portions are drop dead tiny. And the food is mediocre at best. To understand the pricing, the cheese is per person pricing. For a table of 4 it would have cost us $40 for a pot of cheese. The entrees are so small that we joked multiple times during dinner about having to go out again after to eat again. They recommend 2-3 plates, but at a price of 10-15 a plate, it's absolutely insane even if the food was great, which it wasn't. It's not a romantic place, it wasn't that fun, and you're not getting anything special here. It looks like every other chain. If you're in the market of spending $100 on a forgettable meal, this is the place for you. read more

Thank the lord I came with a groupon. After years of wanting to experience this place... I hated every second of it. Service was wonderful, staff was great. First course,.. a tiny bowl of fruits. Some grapes were bad. Bread was cold and stale. Cheese was bland. House salad was the highlight of the entire dinner. I enjoyed every bite. Entree.. LOL several cubes of tuna and some slices of beef. Personally, I don't like boiled beef. Thankfully we upgraded to the coq au vin broth because even that was bland so the complimentary one would've been worse. I didn't come close to enjoying any of the dozen sauces either, unfortunately. I would've been in tears if I paid full price for the dinner. Of course, it's my personal opinion so don't let a review stop you from trying something new. But overall I was incredible unimpressed. read more

Expensive for what you get- the Crave Combo is a cheese fondue, a salad, and a chocolate fondue for $21.95/ person. Portion of cheese and vegetables and fruit were seriously skimpy- 2 baby carrots cut into 3 pieces each and 2 cauliflower and broccoli florets for 2 people 1/2 of Granny Smith apple and 8 grapes and maybe 1 roll worth of "artisan" bread and barely enough cheese to dip them into. The salads were small as well. Everything tasted good and the dessert fondue was a decent size but for $50 plus tip for 2 people for lunch it really was not worth it. read more

Usually they're at you're table within 2-4 minutes but I guess with this location just opening they're a bit slow. The food took longer than we anticipated at this location than others. The food was great, but the service was slow. They forgot one "fondone" entree and that took like 15 mins to get while we already had our entrees and one family member didn't. So we had to give food to him because we felt bad but they did comp us for it and try their best to apologize. So this is my second visit as I wanted to give it a reasonable chance before I decided not to return. The food is good. Only good not great. The menu is designed specifically to be somewhat confusing and best ordered as a multi course. which also means fixed prices. So on average with a couple drinks and dinner for 4 with tip you are looking at about $75 /pp. WHICH do not get me wrong I am willing to pay but this is not fine dining it is novelty dining at best and the price to value ratio is upside down.
