We were celebrating our two-year anniversary. One of our first nights out was to the Melting Pot in Maple Shade because it is close to my significant others' house. We love that location because it is close, and easy to get to. It's never been a problem getting a reservation when we want one, and the time allotments are perfect! Our server was Jared and he had such a wonderful table-side manner! Jared went the extra mile for us, and made us feel like we were the only people in the entire restaurant! Having worked in the service industry, I seldom complain about a long wait for bar drinks etc. and we didn't mind at all! But Jared kept us informed and was extremely apologetic, even though we didn't mind at all! We saw how busy it was and were so excited to start our first-course! Jared made great conversation with us and frequently checked in on us. The most incredible part of the evening was before he delivered our chocolate, he brought us complimentary champagne with the little pound cakes in the shape of a "2" because he had asked us what brought us out. We told him about it being our anniversary and he made it all-the-more special! It is so rare to get this kind of customer service when every day there is a new story about poor experiences and complaints, and it really made such an impact! Something so small meant so much to both of us, and we couldn't have been more appreciative. Jared is a true asset to the Melting Pot and I can't say anything better about him. We absolutely will be back and wouldn't be surprised at all to request him as our server. I went here for my boyfriend's birthday and I had been to the Philadelphia location a few times before so I knew he would love it. I have no complaints about the food or the service. We had a great time and the waitress was super nice and made it fun for us. However, our way home from dinner we both started to feel off but we had just assumed we had eaten too much and went to bed. We woke up in the middle of the night with terrible food poisoning. We weren't sure what was going on because we kept the food cooking for longer than the recommended time, just to be safe. Since I had been to the Philadelphia location and I didn't see anyone else who had this experience, I chalked it up to a one time thing. My main problem was with how they handled it. I called the restaurant the next day when I was feeling better and all I wanted was for them to tell me they would look into the issue just so no one else would get sick, but she just insisted that they food poisoning wasn't from their restaurant! And then she offered to send me a gift card to come back. After I just spent hours vomiting the last thing I wanted to think about was going back. And it was especially frustrating because we had spent so much money on a nice meal just to get sick and then the manager was not at all understanding. This whole experience was about a month ago and I was hesitant to write a review because I did have a good time there and I do think it was a one time incident but the management was a big problem for me. read more

I have been looking forward to visiting this location since it opened. I was sad to see the Philadelphia location move and even sadder to see the Atlantic City location close. Those events kind of set the fire to get my butt in the door here! My sister-in-law and I decided that we would hit the happy hour so we could check it out casually. It has been many years since I had visited a Melting Pot location. It was very quiet at 4 when the happy hour started. We opted to sit at the bar. We positioned ourselves between two stations because we knew we were going to get more than one fondue. The bartender slash server was extremely attentive, nice, and funny too. She went over all of our options for both the fondues and the beverages. We ordered some drinks which were fantastic. I ordered a signature cocktail that was made impeccably. My sister-in-law just got her usual, but it was made perfectly to order. We got the Alpine cheese and the Brie and bacon cheese fondue. I like them both but I definitely prefer the Alpine which was okay because my sister-in-law preferred the Brie and bacon. We also got the signature Meats for dipping as well. Everything was super delicious and presented just the way I would expect from a Melting Pot location. We even opted for dessert as it was happy hour and those two were $5 each we got the turtle and I have to tell you I never order dessert and this thing was just spectacular. I would say the service is over and above and the food is superior quality. I'm excited to come back for a proper sit down dinner. For those who feel like the Melting Pot is too expensive for dinner I highly suggest you hit the happy hour. It will give you the fondue experience at a lower cost. I can't say enough about the yin yang martini LOL it is my hands-down favorite and I hate sweet drinks. Just get it you'll understand. So happy we went and I'm very excited to come back. I went with my friend to get chocolate fondue, my fondue tasted really bad, so they took it off the bill, and my bill was only like $5. We had another amazing dinner at the Melting Pot. I love this place! We were celebrating my daughters birthday and we felt very special even though the restaurant was very busy and our waiter was serving many tables. Jared was our server and he was awesome! I would ask to be sat in his section again if he is available. He was attentive and friendly. The meal was delicous and we left full and satisfied. We had a really cool martini too. Had the worst experience we had in a LONG time!! We mad reservations for a family date night at melting pot. All started out good and we were having a great time bonding. Then the customer experience went down hill fast. So you can't get left over non cooked food cooked so you can bring home - ok I understand that... But then my daughter accidental spilled my drink. The manager was near by he came over and "tried" to clear the table. But really he didn't seem to know how to clean the table properly or what to do. He didn't offer to replace the spilled drink (weather I had to pay for a new one or not). A new drink was not offered. The soak and wet lap napkin sat in front of me. The table was never wiped down so it was sticky. The waitress then came over and just tried to sell us on dessert!! I said doesn't the chocolate fondue come with the "package" meal? Her response " Only if you order in the beginning. Its all how it's put into our system." Like WTF!? I said "you should really state that in the beginning when people are ordering. My kids who ordered off the kids menu. Do they get dessert?" Again I got the if you order in the beginning response. So at this point we had a dirty sticky table, wet lap napkins in front of us and no drink (because it spilled). We then asked for the check waited over 15 minutes to pay over $70 per person (yes including the kids as well!! With no dessert). I had a great experience at the melting pot Atlantic city. But this one in maple shade does not hold up the customer service/experience. We will not be back there again. read more

They didn't specify what I stuck in the cheese so I put my fingers in and got burned. I went to their bathroom to wash them off and fell on my shoelace then to find I was wearing my sisters shoes. We were estatic that the Melting Pot was coming to NJ.... We loved the experience we had at other locations and couldn't wait to have it closer to home. What a disappointment it was though :( Menu changes....much more expensive.... we had friends with us who never ate there and they weren't given the explanation of everything..... We sat long periods in between courses .... Serving sizes were very small ..... Cheese wasn't made table side..... No refills on drinks ..... There was a spill on the table and no one helped clean it up and it took 5 minutes to even get napkins to clean it up which we ended up just getting ourselves..... The atmosphere was very different from Philly.... Not charming as it use to be ..... People left because they were waiting too long and multiple tables just appeared to be sitting and waiting as staff was standing around, counting money, laughing..... I was relieved when another table also said that their experience was not good and that they had loved the Philly location.... The worst part was having the owner belittle a customer who was complaining to her, almost screaming at her while there were kids around as she (the owner) was yelling about having two kids at home and this was ruining her livelihood .... I would think that with the multiple bad reviews I am seeing on here and Facebook the owner would try and be more pleasant ..... We won't be returning which upsets us since we truly loved TMP on our previous visits but with staff and owners who lack good customer service qualities we would rather enjoy our nights out somewhere that values their customers and the money they are spending on their meal/experience. read more

I just got home from the worst dining experience of my life, which is unfortunate because it is from one of my favorite restaurants. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location any time soon. As soon as I got home, I created this account because I felt like it was important to let other people, as well as the management, in on the customer service received at this location. We were seated almost immediately, right around the time of our reservation. The hostess was incredibly friendly and we were off to a great start- then we met our waitress, Colleen. She greeted us and told us she would be back in a minute. She came back about 15 minutes later to finally take our drinks order, no apology for the wait. I ordered a Margarita, and she snorted well that's an entirely different screen, very agitated that she had to go to the bar screen on her tablet. I assumed that she was just tired from a busy shift, but then I asked about possibly ordering the Fiesta Cheese and she gave me a ton of attitude and said she would have to check. I have been to this location before and I was told that they always stock the ingredients for all of the cheeses, even those not on the menu, so if we wanted to order a cheese we know from another location, it wouldn't be an issue. She came back and said it will be "fine" and we placed the rest of our order. Every time we asked for more information, additional sauce, etc, she was very unfriendly, rude even. She acted like it was a hassle to even deal with us and came back to the table very infrequently to check in and see if we needed anything. We tried to break the ice several times with small talk, but she was not receptive. We were incredulous, what had we done to so offend this waitress? On our way out, we walked past her and she did not even say goodbye. The entire experience was uncomfortable. I have been to at least five Melting Pot locations over the last 15 years. I have NEVER had a rude waiter. In fact, in general, the staff at Melting Pot are usually incredibly friendly and make sure that everyone has a great dining experience- even when the restaurant is crowded, you leave feeling that you were well served because everyone is so friendly and they apologize profusely for the wait. Tonight, this was not the case. We left sure that we must have done something to unintentionally offend the waitress, her attitude was just too bizarre otherwise. To my surprise, I looked through some other reviews, and this particular waitress has been driving customers away for about a month. I'm sorry to say, my next dining experience at the Melting Pot will likely be at Atlantic City. This is probably my new favorite spot in South Jersey. I used to frequent their Center City location, but could only bring clients for dinner because our lunch hour didn't give us enough time to enjoy the full experience. Now that they have added FonDone, I have been for dinner as well as a few times for lunch, and have been so impressed with both the FonDone and regular fondue experiences. The decor is modern and fun, and the bar area is a great place to hang out and have a few drinks. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the servers were very attentive, and the food was delicious. I think it is way over priced and over rated. We ate dinner with friends and spent $80.00 per person. I had 2 glasses of wine and that was it. The food was just mediocre if that. I can spend the same price or less at a really nice restaurant in Philadelphia and get a really spectacular meal with a lot better service. My server, whom I believe was named Olivia was wonderful, and assisted my party with working around a food allergy, and helped make a great overall experience. So, I have mixed feelings about the Melting Pot. I took my daughter for our time out alone and we had a great time. We were there for about 3 hours - I did not realize it was such a long affair. Anyway, the service was very good and attentive. We went with a groupon so had the 3 courses. The first cheese course was super yummy. I liked that a lot! The salads were just okay - the ingredients were very fresh, but the dressing killed it. Way too sweet on both of our salads (different salads). I am picky about dressings so maybe most people like theirs. Main course - this I did not like at all. Basically, we were boiling our meat and fish. I had steak and pork and it was so bland even with the dipping sauces. I did not like this even a little bit. I would never do this again. However, the dessert was super. We ordered the ying/yang, which was a small amount of white chocolate and dark chocolate. We had bananas, strawberries, pound cake, brownies, blondies, coated marshmallows and rice krispie treats. I would return to the Melting Pot but ONLY for dessert. I think it would be a great place to take the kids for a fun dessert. read more

If you or anyone goes to the Melting Pot. Plan to spend a fortune and eat at the Taco Bell across the street after. The quality was good but the quantity was far from what you pay for. We had seven adults at our table and what was given with the small sized portions of what you call an entree, was two small bowls of vegetables for all of us to share. There was one red skin potato that was cut into quarters to split with 7 people. 4 mushrooms, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. That would have been ok for 2 people. Not Seven. It also was a long time in between courses and there was only another three tables in the whole place, two tables with couples and one other with a group of 8. What we all took from that was my son was happy because it was his birthday and thats where he wanted to go, but we will never be going to any Melting Pot again. It's like my son in law said, to pay a lot of money to cook your own food. I wouldn't mind it so much if all of us weren't still hungry upon leaving. In fairness I do eat a lot, I'm six feet tall and weigh 200 lbs. I'm not looking for a doggy bag to take home. I go to restaurants to try different things, quality, quantity, cleanliness, customer service, price, etc. I would give them a descent review if it wasn't for the lack of food that you get and the price. Recommendation, don't go there, go to Rodizzo Grill, Brazilian Steak House. It's $35 per person and you get a lot for what you pay for and everyone will be happy. read more

The service was good, yet, that doesn't compensate for the poor selection. I'm not getting all the negative reviews, though I was only here for the first time last night. I used to go to the Wilmington location semi frequently when I lived in Delaware. I remember the Delaware location as being a little different. I was kinda disappointed I couldn't get a variety of entrees, I had to pick just one. Though the kids menu had that option, so I guess I should've ordered off of there! Lol. Other than that, this place is delicious. The staff was friendly and very patient with our party (which included 2 young children). Make sure you save room for desert! I rarely eat deserts, but the chocolate fondue here is to die for. Don't waste your money even with a groupon. We tried two cheeses, both tasted like the cheese had spoiled and the cider/wine base was too overpowering. It was also not made table side and made it feel like fast food. The Caesar salad had candied nuts which tasted really weird. The drink choices were limited and felt like a Friday's. The main meal had small portions but it was ok. If you have to come here, go with the upgraded base otherwise there's no flavor. Overall my experience was poor, I have been to melting pot before and this was disappointing. It was not romantic and expensive even with a groupon. We have been fans of The Melting Pot and have visited several restaurants throughout the tristate and have had great experiences. Both the hosts and manager on the phone of this restaurant were enough to make us never step foot in this restaurant. When you look at Opentable there are reservations available up until 11pm. From experience we knew that the dinner typically takes a while so we called to confirm. Nobody is able to provide any accurate information and the woman on the phone laughed and put the call on hold when I said I wanted a 10:30 reservation. Not too unreasonable for a Friday night for a restaurant with a bar and a tab for 2 that would have been over $150. Then ask what about just cheese and chocolate? Every excuse in the book given....."what about 9pm" If you aren't going to honor a reservation time don't have one posted. Dinner last night was delicious! Our server was extremely helpful in helping us make our choices, her recommendations were spot on! As was every staff member that came to our table :) Everyone was so friendly! The food came out quickly, first was the Classic Alpine sooo yummy! Then we had house salads, I wish I could buy the garlic sprinkle and the house dressing. Then we chose fondone with 3 dipping sauces: Cabernet sauce, a lobster sauce and lemon caper we had them with garlic rosemary filet mignon and lobster tails. Both perfectly cooked! Filet nice and rare as I ordered and the lobster tails melt in your mouth! We had mac n cheese (definitely life changing as they describe!) and the asparagus with a lemon goat cheese crema again delicious! Yes we had leftovers to take home so we ordered the smores dessert! To start, we didn't eat at the Melting Pot. We stopped there Saturday about 5:30 looking to eat. We asked the hostess if they had a table. She said no, there would be about a 35 minute wait. I asked why since the restaurant was flat out empty. She said "we have a lot of people coming in." She either assumed that patrons would find it normal to wait 35 minutes for a table, or she didn't give a crap whether we patronized her restaurant or not. I asked her is there was a table in the bar. She told me that was what the wait would be for. There was no offer to go have a drink and wait for the table, just wait. I came here for my birthday, and I remembered last time I came here the food was great, but that was six years ago, so I sort of forgot. So I came back here and I can say, it was really good! It was very hot though! (But that might be because I wore a fleece all through dinner, so...) Our waiter was extremely nice and made us feel at home (if you want to find him, ask for Wes). The hostess interrupted finding our table (we had reservations) to speak to another customer who had a question on their way out. The other customer had to tell the hostess to finish with us. That wasn't right that a customer has to tell the employee not to ignore the person they are helping! Sheesh. (Not a deal breaker yet, but still....) Then we were sat at a table by the back door. It was loud and cold. I asked if we could be reseated at a quieter location. It took a long time for the hostess to actually locate another table. (Restaurant was virtually empty!) Again, we were patient. (Again, not a deal breaker, but additive.) Our waitress was very nice - a few inattentive times, but overall she was really helpful. The biggest problem is that they don't have the same warmers at each table. We wanted the grill, and after not being able to cook our food in a reasonable amount of time (they said 5-6 minutes for some of it, and we were well into 20 minutes) we found out that the non-magnetic heating unit (older style) were the only ones that could handle a grill!!! Grrrr!!! The waitress' response was that she should have told us not to use the grill and get one of the other cooking methods. Nope. That's not a good answer. And that isn't her fault, either. (Attn: Management!) Also, I finally asked another person who worked there why we couldn't cook our food, and that's when we were told our table had trouble with that. Aghhhhhh!!!) We didn't find that out until we were almost finished eating. So it was REALLY frustrating. We did move our table, and the difference in speed of cooking was ridiculous. (So much quicker!!) The dessert was AMAZING!! But the total cost of the meal was beyond insane given our experience. And there were so many times and so many ways the management could have recovered this one. The quality of the tuna and duck was awful. The only main course item that was edible was the shrimp, Think about this, you boil your entree. Yikes! Way, way overpriced. The food was excellent, what you expect from the Melting Pot, but service was extremely slow. I have been to several locations and I am a frequent customer. It usually takes about 1.5 hours, this visit took us 2.5 hours. I guess I'll chalk that up to new staff trying to figure things out at a new location. For example, a chocolate order is usually placed during the entree so there is time to prep it in the kitchen. Our server did not take our chocolate order until after we were done eating the entree and the table was cleared. Another issue was menu itself. We were unaware of the fact that the entrees are much smaller when compared to the menu at other locations. They were about half the size of what you get at other locations, but also half the cost. Being frequent visitors, we didn't notice and ordered our usual order. If we had realized it was smaller portions, we would have ordered additional plates for the table- the servers should point the portion sizes out and recommend ordering multiple plates. Our favorite cheese was not on the menu, the Fiesta Cheese, but we were informed that it still can be be ordered. Apparently, the ingredients for all cheeses are still stocked, even if not on menu. This location is only a few weeks old. We will be going back to see how it continues to compare to other locations, Atlantic City in particular. Everyone was extremely nice and continued to apologize for delays. The manager and owner were making the rounds throughout our visit and seem committed to making this a great restaurant experience. ***UPDATE*** Went to try out again last night, 1/9/16, roughly a month after the first visit reviewed above. Again, the food was great, but dining still takes too long, still 2.5 hours. This may be because we had a terrible waitress. She did not transition us between courses quickly, we had a lot of waiting around. On that note, she was extremely rude. My dining companion and I were shocked by our treatment from this waitress. This location is really close to home. I want to really like it, but so far it just hasn't stacked up. I may give it one more chance in a few months, but I'm not sure. Bring back the four course combo or drop the price for the tapas plates down to five dollars rather than the ridiculous ten to twelve dollars for each. I really enjoy melting pot and the Philadelphia and Wilmington locations are/were great. This one is cramped and very loud. I prefer the old more intimate style of the center city location. Can't say I would go back but would definitely go to the Wilmington location next time. Not worth the 600.00 bill I can say that. Lesson learned save your money and time! read more

I have never been to a melting pot before and I won't be returning. It was a cute place but was more about the experience than the food. Great for teens or those in their 20's but not for a foodie. The whole process took a long time and the food was just ok. For the portion size we received, I thought it was very over priced. We celebrated birthdays for my wife and my daughter's boyfriend on 8/6/2016. The staff and management was exceptionally friendly, the food was great and they made it a fun and memorable experience. They explained "how to fondue" really well, and we would definitely go there again. The waiter accidentally spilled some water, but it hit my son in law, so no complaints there. But seriously, they gave us a comp for it, and we didn't ask for it. We enjoyed the meal, and we had a good time sharing food, enjoying great conversation with the waiter and having a meal that was fun. read more
