The service was great. However, a few things were not to my expectations. The front area floors were dirty with pieces missing from the floor. 2 people from my party ordered swordfish they were out. We had 7 people in our party and only 1 was happy with their meal. The pasta, hamburger and steak were dry. The appetizer's and drinks we had, were awesome. If we ever go back, which we probably will not, we will just be ordering dinks and appetizers. Took an opportunity to eat here at The Met for an anniversary dinner. The setting just right! Not too fancy but not a casual place either. Wine selection is well above par and leans more toward the dryer side of things. For dinner we both chose the prime rib which was cooked to a perfect medium rare, though I want to say if it wasn't for the Au jus, it may have been a bit on the bland side. Maybe I just had high exceptions for the highest priced item on the menu. Besides that one small complaint everything was amazing!! read more

On the way home from Ultra MAGA rally in Casper, we found this restaurant driving around downtown. Parking on a Sunday was actually easy. The numerous waitress' got us a table right away. Seems to be good for families on Sunday morning. The drink menu showed mimosas and bloody marys for $3. Go served right away. Good Heavens they had a pleasing kick. Very good. I ordered the pancake breakfast, and wife ordered the blueberry granola pancakes with a side of bacon. The bacon was outstanding - thick sliced with I believe an apple smoke flavor. My husband and I stopped here for lunch at 11:10. We were one of the first patrons seated for lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato basil bisque. He had the chili burger. We were served 30 minutes later. Sadly, our food sat under the heat lamps for at least 15 of those minutes (with an open kitchen, these things are visible to customers). My soup was barely warm; the grilled cheese sandwich was, by that time, four very hard pieces. Wait person stopped once to check on us. Came in about 9:30am on a Sat. Waited over 10 min at the bar a just a drink order. Server was to busy to be bothered with taking another customet. Comes over with a "what do you want" attitude. Place our order and told him straight away that was all and handed my card toward him. He did not take it and proceeded "handle" other customers. After he worked his section i asked again where i was told "can you wait a minute?". Then he sloppily placed my bill at the bar. So, this place is a bit pricey but if you understand that from the start, the sticker shock of receiving your check shouldn't surprise you. I almost rated them with one less star bc of their price but realized that that wouldn't be fair. But just know that in case you're sensitive to pricing. Based on food and drink flavor, I do give them 5 out of 5 stars. My sister and I ordered the Brussels Sprouts and Calamari as appetizers. I love Brussels sprouts and these did not disappoint. They were crunchy, a little sweet, slightly tangy, and there was the slight hint of heat from the Thai chili. The calamari was pretty standard fair, but we liked it and you probably will too if fried calamari is a favorite of yours. We also ordered drinks. I had the Cucumber Collins, and my sister had what I think was called A Peachy Affair (maybe?). The CC was cold and refreshing - I do recommend if you like cucumber-based drinks. And the Peach martini that my sister ordered was a bit sweet but had enough bite from the booze to cut that sweetness down a bit. Food was brought out in a timely manner and everything was served hot. :) This place has a swanky atmosphere - this is evident from pictures of the place, which is a refreshing contrast for a country western town like Cheyenne. The ONE and only thing that knocks the rating down is that we were given an app plate that had crusty food on it. It took a bit for our server to check on us after we noticed it, so my sister just ate directly off the plates that appetizers were served on and then we forgot about it. Well, my sister may have forgotten about it, but I didn't. I've worked in a few restaurants and I completely understand how difficult it can be to find a clean app plate as a server. I think most, if not all who've eaten at a restaurant have been a victim of dirty flatware, so this is not surprising - just disappointing. For some reason, dish washers don't see this as their job to worry about, but it is definitely the responsibility of the wait staff to inspect the plates before serving them to their guests. Some may forgive this, but given the atmosphere and price, it just seems like more attention to detail should be paid. But really, I'm happy this place exists in Cheyenne. It really helps to brighten the blossoming mosaic of Cheyenne culture. read more

We reserved for a large group yesterday evening, which ended up needing to be moved back by an hour. Staff was extremely accommodating of that. When we got there the unanimous opinion of all of us was that our food was great, the appetizers were great, and the drinks were great. Overall we have a great experience with really quick and attentive service. The Met deserves five stars. read more

I saw the bad reviews here so I'll give you an honest one that's fair: The service- our hostess was kind enough to inform us the kitchen closed at 9 so we didn't have unrealistic expectations walking in at 8. She did do a triple take at a large burn on my face which didn't feel great but it is pretty noticeable. Our waitress was friendly, bubbly, and nice to talk to. I'm a little upset that she raved about the steak frites and they were just okay but that's the job right? The food- it's fine. A little over priced since it didn't seem to come with any seasonings. You can ask for salt and pepper, and you'll need it! I've never received such bland steak and mashed potatoes. Was it bad? No. But it wasn't necessarily good either. I think it was a fine dinner but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend and I probably wouldn't come back for the food. The atmosphere- phenomenal! Great feel, cozy but classy. I would sit down here for a drink any time. I may have over dressed a bit but didn't feel out of place in a cocktail dress. My wife and I had been wanting to go here for a while for a date night and finally got a chance last weekend. Unfortunately it was not what we had hoped. The ambiance was nice and our server, Marissa, was very pleasant but that was about all the good. We ordered the mozzarella sticks as the appetizer which literally arrived a minute later cold so clearly they were pre cooked and waiting to be ordered. Strike one. I ordered a Long Island iced tea which was absolutely HORRIBLE so i sent it back. Marissa apologized and even mentioned that it didn't look good, she came back a bit later saying that her manager, who couldn't be bothered to come over herself, offered to make me another which I declined and just asked that it be taken off my bill. Strike 2. I ordered the filet, medium rare with a baked potato no sour cream and veggies as my side. My steak was over cooked and the potato had sour cream on it which I promptly removed which of course also removed the bacon. My wife ordered the New York steak medium with mashed potato's and a ceasar side salad. Her steak was under cooked and she was told they were out of mashed potatoes so she took baked instead but never received her side salad which was also removed from the bill. Strike 3! We were very disappointed at the lack of attention to detail at a "fancy" restaurant that we looked forward to trying. We will not be returning and quite honestly I was pretty angry when I left having spent my hard earned money on a subpar meal not to mention our date night being ruined. read more

The met was nicely layed out and offered outside eating. Food was good but took awhile to be served despite few guests at the time we went. Service was considerably lacking. Chelsea our server took our orders (4 in our party) & gave us our coffee. While patiently waiting for our meal she never showed up again and infact someone else brought our meal. More than that we had to get up, find a server and ask for a refill for our coffees. The next time Chelsea came around was to drop off the check and we needed a take home box. Since we live in Cheyenne we often look for locally owned businesses to take visitors instead of the usual chains. However we won't be back to the Met unless service improves dramatically. read more

Here's a summary of my order: Michelob Ultra Glass of 1792 bourbon, neat Bowl of soup (beef noodle) The lunch special, which was an open faced chili burger with fries For dessert: Chocolate Tower Glass of milk My beer was brought without a glass. Fine if you're in a sports bar, not good for a sit down restaurant. My glass of bourbon came in a small shot glass. Not in a glass, not in a whiskey tumbler, in a shot glass. Unacceptable at any location serving alcohol. Received a small cup of soup, not a bowl. Great flavor, but was barely lukewarm. Burger was grossly overcooked to the point of being dried out and rubbery. Chili had really good flavor but was barely room temperature. Fries were hot, fresh, and tasty. Heavy seasoning, but still tasty. The waiter then dropped off my check. Didn't ask if I wanted dessert, or an after meal cup of coffee, or even an after dinner alcoholic drink (since I'd already ordered 2 alcoholic beveridges, not a stretch). It took a while, but I was able to flag him down and get my dessert and milk ordered. Dessert came, milk never did. The Chocolate Tower was scrumptious. This restaurant has the potential to be great, but due to poor execution, barely makes it to mediocre. The lack of a beer glass, the lack of a whiskey glass, easily rectified. The flavor of the food was all first rate, but the low temperature ruined what could have been an epic meal. Asking if someone wants dessert seems like it should be a given, as that's an easy way to increase the ticket total AND make a happy diner at the same time. Ditto for actually bringing everything that's ordered (remember my missing milk?) Hopefully, management can improve upon execution. I'd love to taste the kind of flavor they're obviously capable of creating but have said flavors properly prepared and served hot. read more

What a total disappointment. We had high hopes that Cheyenne had a great new restaurant. It is new, has nice furnishings and décor if even has ok service. But the meals we had scored a one star at best. I had Chicken Caesar Salad ($17) and my wife had their "Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich" ($14). My wife also had a house red wine. The chicken on the Caesar was room temperature a best and dry as the Wyoming prairie. Had to ask for additional dressing because the romaine lettuce was also very dry. My wife's sandwich was supposed to have had shaved prime rib, if it was it came from some leftover beef overcooked a few days ago. It was terrible. Arby's French deep puts The Met to shame, and Arby's sandwich is only marginal at best. I did wait to be asked by someone from the restaurant how my meal was but was never asked, maybe they have learned not to ask. This restaurant has been billed as a higher-end place with a chef-driven menu with polished atmosphere. I agree the atmosphere is polished, but the chef needs to work a little harder with his cooks to deliver even marginal food. If you can't do the simple things well how do you expect someone to pay $42 for a Ribeye? We really had high hopes and may try it again in a few months to see if anything has gotten better. read more

We ate there last night. The food was very overpriced. I ordered the salmon that came with rice and asparagus. When my plate was brought to the table there was only a small piece of salmon and 3 pieces of asparagus the size of a thumb. I was told that I couldn't have the rice or white sauce due to a food allergy. I was not offered any type of substitution. The asparagus was so tough you I could not even cut it with a steak knife. I was barely able to get the tips cut off. A glass of house wine was $15. If you want to pay a high price for ambiance and small portions of food this is the place to go. read more

Visiting from Phoenix and heard about this new place. Delicious food! We had the Brussel sprouts, rib eye and asparagus. The ambiance was alright, but the noise level was too high. The prices seems high to match the amount of food...disappointing. Maybe consider offering a house made bread with the meal to off set that. The center seating has a coffee shop feel. After being acknowledged, the host came around the podium, placed her hands up as to push us back from the podium to let us and another couple know that they just over seat their waitstaff. After patiently waiting, another couple that arrived after us was seated, when we asked 1of 3 hosts why they were seated first, the host shrugged their shoulders. Very poor service! I'm reading some of these other reviews and wondering if we ate at the same place..? I cannot say enough good things about this place. First of all the place is gorgeous and has a very good feel to it. I realize it's a new place but they've done a great job bringing the past into the now. Decor is classy and cool. Dark and vibey! Ok we started with the Brussels sprouts and ahi sashimi.. both had beautiful presentation and spot on delicious. Main course was chicken and honestly couldn't have been better. Perfect. We shared a sundae that was unlike any sundae I've ever had. Ice cream with this insane Mexican hot chocolate poured over the top. Dynamite! It was a delicious and memorable night we won't soon forget. Our server was great and she made it an even better night! Well done and we will be back ASAP! read more

On the first visit, waited for them to work out the kinks in any new establishment. Greeted very professionally and seated in a comfortable two seater booth. Greeted very promptly by our waitress who had a fab personality and drinks ordered and brought to the table in a timely manner. Told us the impromptus chef special with a charcuterie board of local cheeses and varied berries and meats. Sounded awesome but I wanted to try them in full force in a full set of courses. We ordered an appetizer of marinated olives that came with goat cheese and fresh toasted bread. For salad I tried their Caesar. Outstanding brightness in flavor, not your traditional boring Caesar. For main course I ordered the pan sautéed chicken breast skillfully cooked with the thigh portion attached to gain flavor from the bone. It was delectable and bright and tender and sat on top of a bed of mashed potatoes with sun dried tomatoes with a flavor I've never had before...amazing. My husband had the mushroom burger and I believe he fell in love with it. It was served with a fantastic tasting batch of fries that had ingenious seasoning on them! Please chef don't take it off the menu! I cannot wait to go again and try out the chefs new menu especially with the farmers market starting up! I truly hope that meatless choices always find a place in the menu. Wish I had the time to meet the chef, and tell them how much I loved the meal. read more

We were in town playing tourist for an eve and almost randomly chose the Metropolitan. Typically, we expect in that situation to find good, but certainly not excellent. We were greatly surprised by the excellence of our meals. I had the Met Filet and my wife had a special Rack of Lamb (which we shared between us). Both were superb, much better than our general expectation of picking a restaurant randomly. In addition, our waiter was interesting and educated and attentive. We are from Denver and this match or exceeded our favorite restaurants in Denver. This restaurant is highly recommended. read more

My Caesar salad was rotten at the bottom of my bowl and the croutons were stale. Steak was over cooked and my asparagus was literally cooked to a pulp. We went in and we were told it would be a little bit of a wait when we came. We told them that wasn't a problem we weren't in any hurry. When waiter came over I asked what the soup of day was and he said he didn't know. I asked if he could check and with much sighing he agreed. He came bake later and said he "forgot" to check. I asked him if he could go check and I'd be happy to wait. He comes back and stated "clam chowder" and I said then I would order something else. He mumbled something and I asked him to repeat and he said, "so me going to find out was a total waste of my time." So rude, I believe part of his job is knowing the daily menu. Had lunch with a friend and was not disappointed. This is creative food and great service in a great atmosphere. The fried noodle dish was excellent and the dessert was phenomenal! I went here for the first time tonight. I wanted to give them at least a month hoping they would figure out all the loose ends since they opened not long ago. The wait on our food was terrible. It took over an hour for our food to get to us after we ordered and it was not even packed. One of the orders was prime rib which was cold when it got to our table. The Brussel sprouts were amazing and very tasty. I literally think that was the best thing. The drinks were also good. I got an old Havana I believe it was called and it was excellent. All that said I am really crossing my fingers they figure out the kitchen issues and get food in a timely manner. read more

Nice restaurant, cool atmosphere. Food is hit and miss. Sometimes prepared perfectly and sometimes a second trip back to the kitchen. Prices are a bit high for what you get and service sometimes is lacking but that's almost the norm nowadays with staffing levels. Overall it's worth a try if you haven't. read more
