The outside is about 1,000sq. The inside is about 1,000sq. This is all estimated. Restaurant is cutely decorated. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) plenty of parking! clean restaurant. Clean utensils, plates, cups, table, chairs, etc. 2) I saw a bar in there. 3) staffs were very nice. Our waitress was friendly and checked in on us several times. 4) water tasted great. No funky taste. 5) we got the shrimp and salmon taco. Both were very good. The salmon was on the little too fishy tasting side. Not sure why. But doused with the salsa that came with the chips, it was good. 6) they do provide chips and salsa. Salsa was very good 7) the Birria Bao Bun was very good. The sauce that goes with it was good too. Cons 1) none Conclusion I looked this restaurant. There were plenty of parking, lots of other shops near by, staffs were very nice, restaurant clean, bathroom clean, food was good. VIBE 7/10 The music was too loud to have a conversation without yelling but it was fun, colorful, had a shot cart, dancing light up robots, and decent service from the assigned waiter. Besides how loud they were blasting the music, they kept telling my 4-year-old that the robot they advertise would be there at 7pm. 7 turned into 730, he finally showed up and they kept saying, don't worry we told him to go to you on the patio first (as we were all done eating and just waiting so she could see the robot). Turned out he had to go around the whole inside, then go plug in and charge and then would come outside. She was heartbroken. We got there at 5:45 and they kept promising her 7 when she asked (which was a lot). We ate and paid and were ready to go by 7:20. But they kept promising the robot in a couple minutes. The couple of minutes turned into 40 to the point where the rest of our party went home, and it was just us waiting for the dancing robot they promised her. We got up to leave at 8, giving up, when the robot finally got done charging and came out and she got to dance next to him and take a picture with him for a second. FOOD 5/10 They give you a regular sized dinner plate when you get there for apps, but when multiple servers brought our food on these giant platter type plates for each of us, they didn't take the first plates away, even though we had to pick them up and hold them to give the server room to put down our food. When we tried to hand them to them as we were just sitting there holding our appetizer plates over our dinner, they walked away. So, we ended up placing them on an empty table behind us. The entrees are WAY smaller than what you would think. An "enchilada" is the size of your finger, granted they give you 2 or 3, but 3/4 of your giant, oversized plate is covered with undercooked rice and beans. Both side dishes were still crunchy and not cooked thoroughly. We were there for a birthday and all food arrived except for the birthday boy's, but the server followed up quickly and got it fixed within about 10 minutes when the mistake was pointed out. Shot cart was a fun idea and hyped everyone up but was not worth it. One person in our group said it tasted so thick like it was pure syrup and another person said it kind of just tasted like a margarita and that it would have been cheaper just to buy a margarita instead of paying the same price for one shot of it. Overall, great place for a unique atmosphere to shake it up but would I pay $25 for 2-3 finger sized enchiladas and undercooked rice and beans as a side ever again.... no. read more

Great atmosphere and an excellent happy hour! The drinks were awesome, and Alma was such a great serve she took amazing care of us. The tacos are fantastic, and the Ensalada Fresca was fresh and delicious. The chicken Caesar had a nice kick to it, which we loved. This was our first time here, we were spending a few days in town. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was how beautiful everything was and how good it smelled, clean and fresh with heavenly cooking smells. Once we were seated, the wait staff was fantastic, answering any questions about their very extensive menu... so many choices and they all looked amazing. When our appetizers, drinks and entrées arrived everything was remarkable. The portions are very generous, the quality and taste weee fantastic and the variety of choices made sure everyone had something special to eat and share. I feel like sometimes Mexican restaurants happy hour margaritas taste like mixer but these weren't like that so I was very happy about that. Our waiter was also very friendly too. My only issue was the queso. We got chorizo queso and there was barely any it. The queso was also very stiff and not creamy and was $16. Everything about this place is deeply mediocre. There is nothing authentic about the food, the drinks are watered down and overpriced. It's kind of like the Olive Garden of Mexican food: fake but geared to a certain kind of palate that is fine with salty blandness. And oh, yeah, the music was way too loud. read more

First of all like to start with how beautiful the place is. The server was absolutely wonderful and was very attentive to all of our needs. I had the enchiladas, which was flavorful. The guacamole we ordered as an appetizer was probably one of the best guacamole we've ever had. At the end we had flan for dessert which was creamy and was not too sweet. This place is perfectly located. The ambiance was great and you could truly enjoy the atmosphere. They have a Margarita bar where you can make your own margaritas and add your own toppings. It is super fun. They play great latin music which I really enjoyed. The customer service was absolutely perfect. You know I am big on customer service. I can not express that enough. Attention to detail and attention to everything in general is always important, Which shows in this location. Came in for lunch with a friend. Plenty of seating. Spacious & bright. Menu had plenty of choices except for pop. There was only Diet Coke, Coke, & Sprite. Staff was attentive. I ordered the 3 "best crispy beef tacos," which I thought was a super bold claim but I'm always up for the challenge. The beef was flavorful but I do wish it was a bit more shredded & not so many big chunks. It made it very messy to eat. The shells were very crispy and in a "U" shape. Not a traditional Mexican corn tortilla but it did the job. The "U" shape allowed the juices from the beef to collect at the bottom & make it fall apart. The flavors were good but I didn't think supported the claim of "best." I would come back & try something else though. Went here on a Friday night and the place was hopping! They had Mexican dancers, a DJ blasting some hopping music, and transformer robots that were 8 ft tall passing out balloons! The service was really good! The Michelin star taco at 9.00 was really good, the bad part was the food- I was very disappointed in the pricing- $15.00 for house shot of tequila was nasty, for a good shot of tequila plan on $50 a shot! We had 4 margaritas and what I would call a lack luster meal, my wife ate 1/3 of her platter and sent the rest away, I got a bowl of meat that was tough, it had good flavor however the flavor just was not worthy of a $40 bowl of meat!! If I am spending $100 per plate for dinner it better be out of this world flavorful - I cannot recommend this place for dinner but if you want a good time! While not the best Mexican food I've ever had, it is the best gourmet Mexican I've found in Scottsdale. The restaurant is buzzing and vibey with lots of cool decor to check out. The service is always friendly and the food is consistent, which is a plus. Sometimes the drinks don't come out the same, which may be due to "green" bartenders still learning the cocktail menu. On the downside, we've found the menu (or the server- not exactly sure) to be a bit inflexible. For instance, there are two different taco menus: One lists five tacos at "3 for $17" while the other lists five different tacos at "3 for $20." My husband wanted two from the $17 menu and one from the $20 menu and offered to pay the higher $20 price for all three but the server said that was not possible. So instead he had to choose a third taco that he didn't want from the $17 list or pay the more expensive ala carte price for the three tacos he chose. Not sure why this is so ... read more

Visited The Mexicano today with a friend and it was fabulous. Our waitress was such a doll and I am kicking myself in the butt for not remembering her name. I ordered the Carne Asada Taco & Baja Fish Taco and it was delicious! The carne was so tender and the fish was not rubbery like some fish can be at some places. So much flavor in the tacos, highly recommend. It is always so clean inside and the atmosphere is just so fun!! If you have never been, I highly recommend. The music is a bit louder than other restaurants, which does not bother me, but I know some people do not like this. So if you do not like fun, louder music, just do not visit. read more

I definitely feel like this place was way overhyped. I saw it everywhere since it opened and it just didn't live up to the expectations I had for it. When we arrived, it was actually pretty busy for a Thursday evening. We had to end up parking closer to the Walmart next door. The décor inside is nothing special, just the big piñata that's also the DJ booth. They have the DIY margarita bar right at the entrance. We got an order of the birria bao buns and I didn't even finish mine because the bun tasted weird. I ordered 3 different tacos to try them out, a carne asada, agave shrimp and baja style shrimp taco, they were all just okay. I also ordered a mangonada and el sancho margarita. I prefered the mangonada one because the el sancho was SUPER sweet, I felt like I was just drinking juice. I honestly don't think I would dine again. read more

Would not recommend if you want proper service. Went here for my 18th birthday and when I made the reservation, they made sure to ask and note if I was celebrating anything. I made sure that they knew it was my bday and my friends and I were celebrating. Got here before my reservation and it took 10 minutes to be seated, no big deal. But then our food took over 45 minutes to come (and that's being generous). Our waitress barely came to check on our table. I don't know if it just because we are kids (mind you we are all 18 - crazy that in the big 2026 the concept of people judging/ stereotyping young people at restaurants is still around) but there is no excuse for giving us terrible service. I spent 25 minutes trying to flag down LITERALLY ANYONE to order dessert. I had to ask a random server and then proceeded to have to wait another 30 minutes for the said dessert. I just find it very weird that they ask if we are celebrating and then proceeded TO DO NOTHING WITH IT. Like, what's the point then?? Only when my friends purposefully start loudly singing happy birthday to me, another hostess or waiter came over, gave a half-assed apology for the outrageous wait time, and comped the dessert. Mind you, it's 9:40 now and the place closes at 10. We had been there for over 2 hours against our will simply because of the terrible service we were provided. By the time our dessert came, no one could even enjoy it because we all just wanted to leave. I truly don't know how service could be so bad when there is only a handful of people eating and there's honestly more employees than customers there. And the cherry on top, even after all of that, it took another 10 minutes to simply get the check! We couldn't have left quicker. I'm usually a very sympathetic person for the service industry but you would think a restaurant would try to put in just a little bit of effort for someone who decided to spend their birthday there out of all the places in PHX. read more

What a huge mistake this was! Where do I start? Server spoke so soft, almost afraid of her shadow! Don't worry she will only take your order and disappear for the rest of your meal. Now let's talk value vs food, the $39.00 fajitas came with the smallest flour tortillas I've ever seen! When I asked Manager he said it got changed to street taco size- cool so now Chef Joey is serving huge cuts of fajita beef (tough) on 3 inch tortillas "such a culinary mismatch" The rice and beans served cold, but the real slap to their customers is the teaspoon of corn cake placed with rice and beans! Looks a feels like a up scale restaurant that's more about the glitzy building the food. We will never grace this restaurant again, as we can find much better food for significant less with much better service. read more

I was tasked with finding a spot for a team dinner and since I am not local to the area, I relied on Yelp. After a lengthy search, I landed on The Mexicano as it looked like a fun spot with good food and drinks. My team arrived in waves, so we had to wait until the majority of our party was there before being seated. No big deal, it's understandable. After being seated, our server was prompt and very attentive the entire night. Overall my team was really impressed with the food, drinks and atmosphere. Speaking specifically to what I ordered, the Luna Azul was my favorite drink. It was subtly sweet with a nice tartness. The El Sancho was also good, however it was definitely on the sweeter side. The chips and salsa were delicious, I had to stop myself from eating them to avoid being too full for my entree. I selected the carne asada and chicken tinga tacos, both were delicious and flavorful, however the chicken tinga was my favorite as it has more depth of flavor. The Mexicano proved to be quite the experience... I definitely was not prepared for the loud music, the flamethrowinf performance, or the waiter whistling and shouting "TEQUILA" every 5 minutes. What I really came for was the food. Their whole menu selection looked bomb, so I figured I had to stop by and give The Mexicano a try. While I can't speak to the authenticity of their dishes, what I can say is that their food did not disappoint. Albeit their dishes leaned on the saltier side, but I thought their ceviche and albondigas soup were done really nicely. My family ordered the chicken tinga tacos, birria ramen, and chicken burrito to share, and they all shared similar thoughts. Well first thing first, this place is LOUD on a Friday night. It's a total party and fun, but loud. If I came here with my husband who has bad hearing from the Army, we wouldn't be able to talk because he wouldn't hear a word I said. As for the service? Friendly, amazing, and quick. Everything our waiter recommended was delicious. He went beyond expectations multiple times with friendliness and attentiveness. The food and drinks, PHENOMENAL. From the chips and salsa, to the meats and guac, to the margaritas... it was all so good.
