We've been here a few times and love it. First off, they are always decorated to the nines for what every holiday it is and we love that. Second the service is always fantastic. We've had Isaiah C as a server a couple times and he is absolutely amazing. So courteous and attentive. We love him. The food is also great and the portions are more than I can eat so I get two meals for one. Lastly their margaritas are fantastic My wife loves the watermelon margarita and would go here just for that.

Thursday, 2-05-2026: We met up with friends today for lunch. There was no wait and we were seated right away since our friends arrived before us. As usual the cafe elaborately was dressed up for Valentine's Day. Kudos to their decorators! This is a spacious restaurant that is very clean and it's beautifully designed & decorated. Their Halloween & Christmas decorations are off the charts and a sight to behold! We enjoyed great customer service, our friends' company, and fantastic food! I only ordered their flavorsome albondigas soup and everybody else got combo plates. This continues to be a favorite eatery.

This place is delicious and the service is fantastic. Can wait to be in that area again to enjoy their menudo and flautas again.

Since my original three star review we have returned several times. I branched out and tried different menu items. So with all fairness in mind, I am updating my review. I liked their chile verde. The pork was tender and flavorful in a spicy green verde sauce, served with fresh corn tortillas. And the albondigas soup is a new favorite of mine. The restaurant is huge, and we have never had worry about being able to get seated right away.

I recently visited The Mexico Cafe in Temecula with a group of 8 friends to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant itself is very large, with several dining rooms, a bar area, outdoor seating, and a spacious lobby. It was quite busy the evening we went. The décor definitely adds to the experience. The ceilings are high, and there are different themed areas throughout the restaurant. There was a festive display near the fireplace with colorful lights and seasonal decorations, and the walls featured framed family photos that give the place a long-standing, family-owned feel. It has character and feels lively when full. We all ordered different items -- burritos, tacos, taquitos, enchiladas -- and I ordered the chicken fajitas, which came with rice, beans, and a side salad. The fajitas had plenty of onions and bell peppers, and the rice and beans were actually very good. However, the salad lettuce was slightly wilted and the tomatoes were mushy. Overall, my meal was just okay. Something about the seasoning didn't quite sit right with me, so I only ate part of it and took the rest home. One friend ordered taquitos as an appetizer and added rice and beans, but the rice and beans were never brought out. Some of the others really enjoyed their meals, especially the burritos and enchiladas. Drinks were a mixed experience. One friend ordered a Cadillac Margarita and felt it was overpriced at $23 -- more than her meal. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, which tasted good, but the cups were small so I needed a few refills. Service was attentive in terms of bringing food and checking on us, but there was an uncomfortable moment when a drink was set down rather abruptly at the table, which caught everyone's attention. One thing to note: if you have 10 or more people, there is an automatic 20% gratuity. We only had 8 people, but because we requested separate checks, a 20% tip was added to each individual bill. That's something you may want to clarify in advance if you prefer to decide your own gratuity. On a positive note, they did sing happy birthday and brought ice cream for the birthday guest, which was a nice touch. Overall, the atmosphere was lively and spacious, some dishes were enjoyed more than others, and the experience was average with a few service and policy concerns.

Service was super fast and friendly. Although we were there on Taco Tuesday everything came out quickly and tasted great!

Took the salad home. Please find a better brand of bleu cheese and ranch dressing. Your current dressings are horrible.

10/30/25 Dinner 5:30-8:30 My Grandson is born on Halloween. He decided to have our family gathering here. 20% automatic gratuity for our group of about 24. We were seated in the family room and waited on by a very efficient waiter. He deserved that 20%. From the looks of it, everyone ordered and was satisfied with their meal. Me? I had a salad. I chose bleu cheese dressing. I already know to have ranch dressing as a back up plan, because most places have horrible bleu cheese. Well, my only complaint: BOTH BLEU CHEESE AND RANCH were horrible!!! I had to take my salad to go, so I could use my own dressing at home. Otherwise, such a nice hidden gem in Temecula. I say hidden because we've lived in Murrieta for 30 years and NEVER heard of this place. It was decorated so nicely for Halloween We should have been charged an entry fee, LOL! I hear they go all out for Christmas, too..... so I'm sure we will revisit. All in all, 5 well deserved stars for The Mexico Cafe

This place was decorated so good for Halloween!! Loved all the decorations. This was my first time trying this place, the drinks were really good and the bar area was nice with tvs to watch the games. Then they have a dining area option which was a little more quiet and nice for a girls night. Our waiter Ramon was very funny and nice! He was great. The blackberry margarita was really good.

We stopped in shortly after 7 on a Saturday night. I was anticipating a wait but they seated us immediately. A man quickly brought Chips and salsa to our table. A woman brought us water in short order. Our server stopped by for our drink order and came back shortly for our dinner order. I was shocked at how quickly our food came out. I want to say we were out the door about 30 minutes after we arrived. The older gentleman who was bussing tables and serving the chips and salsa and refilling waters was such a hard and efficient worker. It was impressive. I had the choke relleno plate and it was fine. My husband said his enchilada suizas were good. Fast service. Employees were polite. Decent food.

I took my Thai MOM here for a BELATED MOTHER DAY BRUNCH per her request. She wanted to avoid the crowd on Mother's Day and today seems to be the perfect non-crowded day to come and enjoy brunch with her and my tag along hubby... BTW, BRUNCH is only on SUNDAY! $34.99 or upgrade to $44.99 for unlimited mimosas!! FROM THE MOMENT you walk in: It feels like you have just entered a MANSION!! It's always BEAUTIFULLY decorative in all holidays. They have 3 banquet size rooms for service and 2 BARS! CHEERS!! SONG OF THE DAY to play along to this YELP REVIEW: SMOOTH by SANTANA... "Give me your plate, make it FULL or else forgot about it!" HIGHLY RECOMMEND: The POZOLE and the sweet corn with chile verde mini TAMALES! I went back TWICE for those! Also, don't forget to try all the salsas!! TACO STATION: Had 2 very hardworking & nice ladies there :) CAUTION: The TACOS are HUGE! VERY FILLING!! I wish they had carne asada, al pastor, cabeza and lingua! OMELETTE STATION: Had 2 hardworking guys there. They must be tired. Thank you and keep up the great work guys! BRUNCH: There was also an American breakfast which featured waffles, sausages, bacon, etc. My other favorite is the street corn. BIRTHDAYS: There were 3 birthdays happening within 2 hours that we were there. A lot of JUNE 1st BABIES on sight today! Feliz cumpleanos!!!! You get serenaded with a birthday song and provided a Mexican cultural sombrero!! HOW FUN!! WHAT a great place to CELEBRATE a SPECIAL OCCASION!!!!!! SERVICE: A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you to all the staff for being so welcoming and has smiles on their faces. GRACIAS!!! PARKING: MUCHO!! PLENTY!!!! We will be back because YOU'RE SO SMOOTH ;) ROCK ON THE MEXICO CAFE!!!!

The waitress stated that they can't substitute? I'm not substituting anything. Just don't add it. The "manager" came over and said we can't substitute? I stated I'm not substituting anything, just don't want cheese or sour cream. He said since they're busy cause of cinco de mayo they can't do it which tells me they can't handle a large amount of customers and there food they make in the back there cooks are auto pilot and get devate from the normal operation. We have been here before and "NEVER" had a problem with the way we ordered but today was an issue which tells me things are difficult especially if busy. We will not be back cause it was just a simple request and they couldn't fulfill that. We went over to Rosa's and tortilla factory which is down the street and it was good and "much cheaper ". I will never recommend Guadalajara to anyone anymore cause they couldn't handle a simple request.

The server was attentive and kept checking in on us. Now the food. When we were sat down, we were given complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were perfect and not overly salty or greasy. The salsa was very mild and had a great flavor. I ordered a 2 taco combo plate ($14.95) with carne asada and carnitas. The carne asada was just okay, it was cut into thicker piece, which is not my preference. It was also topped with guacamole, which was not the best I've had. The carnitas however were magnificent topped with pickled onions, cilantro, and salsa. The rice was not traditional Mexican rice and did have a bit of a crunch to it rather than a toast before cooking. The beans were just plain pinto beans, not refried beans, but they were good. While this place, is not extremely traditional, it is a great spot in Old Town Temecula with fairly good food. I'm looking forward to coming back again.

But recently... things changed. They removed their Friday happy hour, and honestly, that was the main reason I'd choose this place over others. Without it, the value just isn't there anymore -- especially when their cocktails run about $16, which is noticeably higher than the $11-$14 range you'll find at most comparable restaurants in the area. When I go out, I'm usually spending $120-$140 per visit, and that used to feel worth it here. Now? Not so much. The drinks are okay, not amazing, and definitely not worth premium pricing without any kind of incentive or happy hour. Copa Mundial Watch Party? Save Your Time and Go Somewhere Else!!…read more I made a reservation specifically for the football watch party and even noted in my reservation that we were coming for the game. We arrived 15 minutes early, only to be told by the manager that we weren't on the reservation list. After showing her my confirmation, she eventually "found" our reservation. We were then seated at what she said was the last available table, which wasn't near a TV at all. To make matters worse, the TVs throughout the restaurant were so small that I couldn't comfortably watch the game from where we were seated. I asked if we could be moved, and while I UNDERSTAND there were no other tables available, what really bothered me was the explanation that followed. The manager asked how I had made the reservation. When I told her through Yelp, she said she hadn't closed reservations in time and had been too busy the day before to check the Yelp reservations. Respectfully, that's not the customer's problem!!!! MY issue is the false advertising. This was promoted as a COPA MUNDIAL watch party, yet there was no reasonable way for us to actually watch the game from our table. Had I known that beforehand, I would have chosen one of the many other venues available. By the time we arrived and the game had already started, my options were extremely limited. PLEASE If you're planning to come here for a watch party, don't. this restaurant is not equipped for that. Save yourself the disappointment and watch the game somewhere else. HOPE THIS HELPS ANY FANS OUT THERE.
