Get serious about your sight. I trust Dr Katz, especially since I found out I was diabetic. Great staff, very concerned. Really good!

Claimed I was 20 minutes late for appointment though they never bothered to give me a call to check on my status; not very personal.

I heard of great feedback on Dr. Macsai & her staff -- and they were all true. Dr Macsai initially examined me, then referred me to her Retina specialist ( who was so knowledgable & offered me other less painful solutions). I will continue seeing the specialist at this office & have recommended them to others.

I got my LASIK done in 2003 and was seen by Dr. Marian Macsai. I chose the place based on the…read morerecommendation in Chicago Magazine, and she and the rest of her staff were very professional, and my procedure went well. I experienced some of the typical after effects, such as dry eyes and some haloing around lights for a period of about 6 months, but overall I was very happy with them at that point. I was pleased enough to have referred 3 friends there since my surgery. Unfortunately, based on my friend's feedback, I will not be recommending them to anyone else. First, their costs, instead of coming down, have stayed relatively steady as some of the highest costs out there. This might be justified if their service was still at the same level I experienced. Unfortunately, it was not. One friend walked away just based on the cost, and the 2 others reported back that they had problems getting call backs form the doctor with questions, and generally having inquiries ignored by the staff. One of my friends actually had her cornea scratched during the initial measurement procedure, and when this was mentioned to Dr. Macsai, she initially said it ws due to the drops, but when my friend insisted it wasn't, she looked at her eye and agreed, and said this was an ssue that shouldn't have happened. This same friend was also prescribed antibiotic drops by the center that were supposed to be taken starting 2 days before the procedure, but they never sent the prescription to the pharmacy as promised. 5 calls and 4 days later, they finally got the prescription sent in correctly, but at this point it was on the day before the procedure. My friend was frantic, wondering if she should have this procedure done, and called to find out if it was still appropriate to continue with the surgery without sufficient time to provide some antibiotic protection. Once again however, no call back was received, and they apparently were unconcerned that they were losing a customer, my references and good faith. It is understandable that an office like this is busy, but when charging thousands of dollars more than other clinics for the same procedure, I would expect a level of service to equal the cost. I wouldn't expect to be treated like just another number in a business ledger. It is not clear to me if the message was not received by the people at the top, but clearly, this is no way to treat patients who are living in a bad economy, and being asked to pay a premium on what is becoming a commoditized procedure. I will probably need a tune up procedure at some point in the next couple of years, and I hope to find a place which pays more attention to their customers. I personally will be voting with my feet, as my friends did.

I live in the city but made the trip out to Arlington Heights for my consult, then went to their Lombard location for the surgery about two and a half weeks later, and came back to Arlington Heights the next day for the post op. Totally worth it. From start to finish, everything moved efficiently but never felt rushed. On the day of surgery, they took their time with the preoperative steps, did another full workup, checked my corneas again, and the surgeon personally evaluated me before getting started. That gave me real peace of mind. People kept insisting I would need a Valium or something to calm my nerves, but I didn't need it at all. The team was calm, confident, and made me feel completely safe. When it was time, the actual procedure felt like it took three minutes, and that was it. They made sure I understood everything before and after surgery, gave me a full kit with everything I needed, and treated me with respect the whole way through. Now I can see so crystal clear, I'm babying my eyes like they're made of gold. It feels illegal to see this perfect. Already hit 20/20 the day after surgery and looking forward to hitting that 20/15 soon. For the price, it is a no brainer. This is not a big box conveyor belt type of place. It is professional, personal, and thorough. Highly recommend if you want real results without the fluff.
