2024.05-26/SUN_1130: Awesome brunch spot to hang out with the locals of Temecula! We hung out with the family in Temecula and they took us to The Mill. We were looking for a good brunch spot before we played 18 holes at Dos Lagos Golf Course. The staff here is really nice. There was a wait so our party of four sat out front because the small waiting area by the entry door of the restaurant was packed. There was only a ten minute wait so we waited out front on the other side of the entry door. The front of the restaurant and the entry door is a huge window. After waiting 15 minutes, we decided to go inside and to our surprise, she said that she already called our name and sat our table. What's disturbing is that the hostess didn't even bother to inform us our table was ready when we were standing right out of the entry door on the other side of the window. It is such a small entrance that you can walk five steps from the hostess stand to the door and poke your head out since they didn't have an intercom. The waiting area literally sat ten people and we didn't want to block the entrance so it was kinda ridiculous that it was a ten minute wait and she saw us standing outside waiting to be seated. It's not like we had 16 other parties before us. That's the reason why we gave it four stars. The hubby had a Denver Omelette and I had one of The Mill's Basic Breakfast - two sausage patties, three eggs, potatoes and Sourdough toast. We absolutely love the Mill, been going here for years. Today was the first time ever having breakfast and I have to say it was great and the price point was amazing. The server Vanessa was awesome and super friendly. I had the stuffed French toast and those were tasty as well as the side of potatoes. My wife liked her omelette and the kids enjoyed their food as well. The restaurant is always nice and clean and you can see the cook working the whole time which is pretty cool. They have amazing pizza, pasta, and salads. A few of our favorites are the Thai pasta with angel hair noodles, the Santa Rosa plateau salad, and the milleta sandwich soooo good. Food was good. We hadn't been here since before Covid. Prices have gone up some, like everywhere. Service was good except for one thing. We left our take home container of leftovers on the table when we left. My hubby went right back for it but they didn't have it, assumed it was tossed when the table was cleared. I had called them to tell hubby was heading back too. You would think they would put it aside for a few minutes just as a courtesy in case customer comes back for it. Can't believe I haven't written a review for The Mill yet. Well it's an easy 5 stars for me. They keep it simple with sandwiches, pizzas and pasta and they do all 3 very well. They make all their sauces from scratch and they are delicious. I'm still trying to replicate their Screeching sauce. It's so good. And the staff & service is always awesome. A good pizza is defined by its crust and toppings. The crust is crispy yet soft and flavorful and toppings are high quality. The Focaccia for the paninis can be a little thick as far as panini's go but the flavor bomb is worth it. And the garlic mashed pasta salad is the best I've ever had in my life. Seriously. Oh and their passion fruit iced tea is addicting. I crave it. Love the Mill. Support Local. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside. It was cloudy day but I like sitting outside. Our waitress was super helpful and gave suggestions on the popular dishes. It seems their pizza is the most popular. I didn't go with her suggestions but she said the Haly peno Turkey was her favorite. I got the sourdough bread but wished I had gotten the herb roll instead. My friend got the herb roll with her Lemon shrimp pasta. I liked the lemon shrimp pasta. It was surprisingly good. The turkey sandwich was packed full of turkey. I could taste the mayo jalapeño sauce but it was not spicy. It was OK. The garlic potatoes salad on the side was very good! I forgot to take pictures of the food. Great service by the waitstaff by far, girls in the front not so much. They don't smile, they don't acknowledge you and they don't converse. You say thank you, they just plop your menus on the table and walk away. Second pasta dish I've tried that I didn't really care for. I ordered the Thai chicken pasta, the sauce was soupy and I received the wrong noodle type, but that wasn't a huge deal. The Hubby enjoyed his first visit and loved his all meats calzone, plus the amazing service from Raquel was the only reason why I didn't deduct another star. We love the Mill in ol' town Murrieta. Our family goes for lunch and dinner. All of their pizzas are outstanding! but I like the Thai chicken pizza it is the best in the valley. Yum! We came in with some friends on a Wednesday night thinking that they wouldn't be busy but oh boy they were! We were seated within 5 minutes and had plenty of choices on the menu. Our waitress was so kind and attentive and im bummed that I didn't get her name before we left. We were eager to try the famous BBQ chicken pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, garlic bread and the bruschetta! I seriously have no complaints. The bread for the bruschetta was sourdough and it was so delicious. The onions gave that perfect crunch. Alfredo was delicious and cheesy! The chicken pizza was something else! It was just the right amount of sweet bbq to cheese ratio and it had that perfect cheese pull. I seriously can't wait to come back! At first I didn't know what to expect from The Mill. I mean, it's named after that creepy old rundown grain mill in town and this fact got me thinking. Was the restaurant going to be haunted too? Was my food going to be cursed and give me indigestion? Was the unassuming front door, that took me a few minutes to find because it blended into the side of the building, really just a one way inter-dimensional trapdoor? There were lots of unknowns here for me, people. Not only was I pleasantly surprised when I walked in to find an open kitchen layout (I really like watching cooks in action), I was immediately put at ease by the friendly staff and salivation inducing scent of home cooking. The Mill offers something for everyone, from breakfast to pizza/pasta, to sandwiches. Faced with the serious dilemma of not being able to decide what to order, on account of wanting everything, we settled on trying their pasta. I got the Halo-O'-Penyo chicken and the wife got the Cajun chicken. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, noodles had great mouth feel, chicken breast was tender and juicy, sauces had some heat (would have loved more but 30 seconds of red pepper shaker fixed that), and the addition of the fresh scallions, tomatoes, onions, etc sprinkled on top amplified all the flavors. So simple yet genius! The Mill offers good portion sizes for the price and excellent food quality and service so there's a lot of value to be had here. We have been going here since 2007 and always great service, good food and smiling faces. Yesterday around 12:45 pm we attempted to grab the salad we like. It was busy and we get that there would be a wait. But just attempting to ask if the bar area is open for self seating. My wife asked the older lady if we are able to pony up to the bar area since there were 2 seats. And this lady leaned over towards her after my wife asked the question or attempted and said 'I said I will be with you in a minute" and was very abrupt. She didn't say no it isn't self seating or it is. We walked out and just went across the street. My neighbor introduced me to this place. She told me it has a long history and that she's been going to The Mill for years. STAR! My neighbor is also gluten free, which The Mill has on their menu. That equals another STAR. I had a Caprese sandwich that was absolutely delicious. It was one of those meals that you think about later. I can't even remember what my neighbor had, as I was too involved with my selection. That's huge! STAR three. We ate outside, which was nice. The waiter was friendly and took good care of us. It was our first time to try their breakfast menu, so I was kind of hesitant to come here but glad we tried it. I ordered their special of the day menu, which was made of lobster with asparagus and avocado omelette. It was alright since I could barely taste or see the lobster in my omelette. My husband got the one with the smoked salmon, and he loved it. Service was quick so I was very impressed that we didn't wait too long to be served, even though it was busy that morning. My wife and I decided to try The Mill for the first time, extremely excited because we have heard great things but unfortunately, our experience left a lot to be desired. When we arrived, we entered through what we thought was the front door, only to later realize it might have been the back entrance. The restaurant wasn't busy at all; only about five tables were occupied, and many were completely empty. As we walked in and sat down, a young blonde waitress approached us and said, rather abruptly "Just so you know, this isn't a self-seating restaurant." Before that, as she walked to get menus and utensils, she muttered under her breath, "I guess I'll get the menus." We understand this may have been a simple misunderstanding on our part, but her tone and attitude made us feel extremely unwelcome. It's one thing to correct a guest politely, but it's another to come across as rude and dismissive, especially when the restaurant is far from busy. Given the way we were treated, we decided to leave without ordering. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one was disappointing enough that we don't plan on returning. We hope this feedback is taken constructively, as no guest should feel unwelcome for a simple, honest mistake! read more
