It was well seasoned and had a delicious glaze. Literally melts in your mouth! As far as the sides go, don't sleep on the Mac and cheese! They use radiatori pasta gives hearty chews and the cheese sauce is well seasoned. And the yams give holiday spice and everything nice! Smell them and get your mouth watering! The beef rib is visually the star of the show. It tasted like a standard beef rib, but is not anything to rave about. And they don't have the same sides like you would find at most Texas joints. No okra, no peach cobbler, no corn, no desserts. Definitely some room for improvement with the sides. Overall, it's a decent spot that I would probably not wait in line for again for. Get there early and set appropriate expectations. When we arrived, the oxtail was and pork ribs were sold out. Since it's gone viral, expect a decent wait and elevated pricing. Stopped here for dinner on a Friday night with a friend and my fiancé. Been seeing this place all over instagram so wanted to see if it was worth the hype. I was honestly surprised how dead it was for a Friday night, literally only two other tables were there. We were so excited to try the brisket and smoked wings but were super disappointed to find out they were out of both. Figured it'd be fitting for my first post as Yelp Elite 2026 be this joint, especially since I got the email letting me know while I was in line here: Got there at 11. Save you some time here with important info at the top Line starts early, and there's another line inside. I got there at opening and (11) and was eating by 11:45ish. There's a gentleman that lets certain amount of people inside and then you're in another line. You can buy by 1/2 pound. I had anxiety wondering if I was really going to order a pound of everything for 1 person, till I got to front. There is a QR code when you're waiting in line, didn't get a chance to scan as I was being ushered in. Pro tip: ask for to go boxes when you're paying to save you some time. There's a sign that's says onions and pickles are for dine in only, you need the acid to help with all the fatty meats you're chowing down. There's some tables with reserved signs for parties of 6 or more. I believe they would benefit from having communal seating but I had no issues finding a seat right away. Only thing that would make my day better if there was Diet Coke. They're a Pepsi establishment but they did have diet Dr.Pepper. This is my 3rd time. Went when the hype first started and it was. 5. The hours of operation stated that DS opens at 11:00am. Well today the door opened at 11:30am. Remember myself and 2 family members were the first in line and once we got to the cash register area we had to wait another 10 minutes. After waiting 10 minutes we were summoned to the cashier to place our order. We all knew what we wanted so placing our order was quick. Drove from San Diego for this viral bbq joint and it was a 10/10! I got here an hour early, got vip parking and played scramble in line. While in line, they ask for you to make up your mind and have your order ready. No ummm, ummm, "um IDK what I want". Came all the way from Houston, Texas just to see Walter and he didn't disappoint!! Please believe the TENDERNISM hype. Destination is an almost two hour drive one-way from Los Angeles, but worth the windshield time. We ordered a half slab of pork ribs, 1/2 pound of black diamonds (oxtails), baked beans, and yams. I came for the ribs and they were my favorite item by far. They had the perfect peppery bark on them with an amazing sauce brushed over. I appreciated the fact they didn't take away from the BBQ experience by drowning them in sauce. I'm not a fan of oxtails but my girl really enjoyed them and they were tender indeed. Baked beans were good but the yams were my favorite side. Great amount of spices and flavor to the syrup. Next time I will try the brisket but I had a two hour drive back to Santa Monica and didn't want to overeat and catch the itis in LA traffic. The ambiance can vary depending on when you plan to go. I visited on a Friday morning after landing at LAX and arrived around 11:30. I wanted to go right at opening during the weekday to avoid the weekend rush and the possibility of selling out, and I highly recommend this strategy to cut down on the wait time. The food is amazing but the wait times are inconsistent. Came one Saturday morning after opening where the line moved smoothly and we got to the counter in about half an hour. Came another Saturday before they even opened but were in line for 2 hours. But there's no real indication of how long you're going to need to wait. As for the food itself, there's lots of meat options and they're all pretty good. Standouts were probably the ribs, brisket, and pastrami. Burgers are also great. The sides are a bit more limited when compared to others and quite average. The Texas toast they hyped up as house made, but also pretty average and a bit expensive. I tried both the brisket - it's basic and you cannot not try brisket. It was really good. They have their bbq raise that's good too. I got their smoked oxtail, smoked brisket, and pork belly to try. Pork belly and oxtail were tender, brisket was a bit dry for my family who prefers moist brisket. Well let's start by saying my brother saw the hype through ig on Jordan's post. This automatically made my brother want to come here for his birthday dinner for the Tenderism, which wish come true. Found out about this restaurant through some short-form content, I forget if it was on YouTube or Instagram. Anyway, we came for the beef rib and the mac and cheese, which did not disappoint. Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing you're greeted with is a long winding line to order. We waited approximately 45 minutes to order and maybe another 10-15 minutes to receive our food. It can be on the noisier side but there's a separate area to sit near the bar which is much quieter. Generally, the meat is REALLY GOOD. You don't need a knife to eat this BBQ. I feel like the rub on the beef rib was perfect with the smoke and meat. Zero complaints there. The burnt ends were tender and saucy. I found the brisket to be a bit meh despite being their most popular item. The leaner portion was dry and tough by extension. As far as accompaniments, very good except for the bread. The pickles were fresh and crunchy, and the pickled onions were crunchy and not too sweet or spicy. The pasta used in their mac and cheese is this cute shape called "radiatore," and it picks up the sauce so well. Definitely tasted the garlic and butter in the cheese sauce. The BBQ sauce was pretty standard since I feel that anything more special could have detracted from the meat. The spicy sauce seemed to have been made with Tabasco and the sweet sauce made with vinegar. I preferred the spicy sauce. Sadly, the bread was dry and hard. Perhaps it was toasted way before serving and kept warm under suboptimal conditions. My partner likened the bread to big croutons. Overall, I feel like the price was reasonable for a 3-meat platter with four slices of bread and a large side. This fed two adults with some left over to enjoy at home. I heard about this place through my partner's co-workers so we stopped by early afternoon for an early dinner. I've tried Texan BBQ and honestly, this place tasted similar if not better than what I've had there, all the while saving you a trip. El Paso Burger (4.5/5): Popular brisket meat on brioche bun with sweet BBQ sauce. I liked this bread and meat combination more than the brisket & cheddar because the bread wasn't as oily. Brisket & Cheddar (4/5): Brisket on buttered toast. Still good, but the heavily buttered toast can take away from the brisket flavors which is why I preferred the burger instead. Mac & Cheese (4/5): Their mac was different than most with more BBQ, spices, and gave a more thousand island kind of feel. Luckily, my family and I got to the restaurant early because a long line formed quickly behind us. We were able to snag a long table. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, with relaxed vibe. It's cool that there's a pool table too. Customer service was great. Friendly and attentive staff. We tried their tasty beef rib, tender oxtails, Mac n cheese, brisket & cheddar sandwich, a side of pickles and delicious Texas toasts. Very flavorful with perfect smoky taste, though their oxtail seasoning was too peppery for the kids. Worth the 1hr wait! I've had this place bookmarked even before it became more popular due to social media. Finally made the trip here, arrived around 1115 and they weren't open yet. About half of the line was let in shortly after, and we waited about 30 minutes until we were allowed inside. Once inside, the line took about another 30 minutes. QR code for the menu was posted in the queue, so most people already had an idea of what they wanted, and that made ordering quicker. Meats are by the 1/2 to full pound, sides come in two sizes. They also have burgers. We ordered: brisket, pork belly (burnt ends), a full rack of pork ribs, and oxtails. Brisket: our favorite of all the meats we ordered. Tender, juicy, full of flavor. Did not need bbq sauce at all. Pork belly: chunks of yummy fatty, juicy delicious meat. So good! Pork ribs: meat was lean and tender, a little dry. Oxtails: half pound order was only two pieces! Easily fell off the bone. Tasted mostly of black pepper, probably wouldn't get again. Yams: sweet! A good contrast to all the meats. Baked beans: perfection. A must! The pickled onions and sliced pickles were great as well. Fountain drinks, bbq sauce and utensils are self serve. Employees were welcoming, polite and helpful. In addition to delivering orders to tables, they came around often to check up on us, were quick to bus the tables, offer to go containers, etc. Note: the "billiard room" has tables with "reserved" signs, however parties of 5 or more are allowed to sit there. read more

I went here on the 4th of July and it was a rocking spot to be that day. There was a DJ playing all the best jams, all of the people were super friendly including the staff and the customers, it felt like community in there. Everything we tried was delicious, however there are some standouts. First off you need to try the oxtails at least once. They're a bit pricey for sure so come prepared for that. They're worth it tho. Their ribs are some of the best you can get in the area. They're cooked perfectly and don't need sauce. The fries are perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection in beef tallow which you can taste. They're straight up addicting. I'll be back for those most definitely. ENJOY!!! read more

Second visit to try the items that were sold out last time and to repeat our favorites of oxtail and pork ribs. We ordered: Pork belly burnt ends Oxtail Dino Beef rib Pork rib Pulled pork Mac Cole slaw Oxtail and pork ribs were repeats for us. We prefer the pork over the beef ribs. The burnt ends were tough. But as left overs on the second day, it was so soft and candied flavor the next day. Pulled pork was soft and shredded with a light sauce. Dipping in the spicy bbq sauce completed the taste. Can't go wrong with any of the items. Oxtail and beef rib had a peppery flavor and you can clearly see it in the skin. All of it tastes so much better the next day. They were extremely tender when heated and we had left overs for days. read more

I'll break it all down! The line was super long. We went the day after New Years (first day open after they were closed for a week) and the line was an hour and 20 mins to order food and then another 20ish to have the food brought out, so it was a long time which could be hard with kids etc. The parking lot is way too small for the popularity they've gotten so people were parking on the street and walking over. It's a tiny little strip mall lot. Customer service was fine! People came around to ask if we needed anything (drinks, utensils, bbq sauce is self serve) and clear plates and bring to-go boxes and everyone was friendly. The bbq sauce is good. Not overly sweet. The ribs fell off the bone and were pretty good. Oxtail was good. Salty but seasoned. The beans taste like canned beans, but I enjoy canned beans so it wasn't a disappointment. The mac and cheese I did not like. The flavor was good and peppery, but the texture was weird and congealed. The pickles it comes with on the side were delicious. Loved the pickles. read more

This place has gotten popular over social media. This day, I was able to get in there before it got really busy I ordered oxtails, ribs and brisket and a side of mac and cheese. I got a chance to see unc doing his thing. The ribs were absolutely delicious. The oxtail fell off the bone good and the brisket was amazing. The area was nice and clean and very nice to sit at. Now I will say. I understand that they're viral right now but after driving 2 hours I wasn't too thrilled walking away without having anything to eat. Selling out at 4pm is diabolical but kudos to the success of the restaurant. What I will speak on is the restaurant's line. It's great that they had entertainment (DJ) while you wait but I would recommend having maybe some light samplers or even the ability to place drink orders while you wait 2 hours in line. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to try the food but it may call for me to let the hype die down a bit. After thinking about how much food is prepped for selling out days at a time - I would start to think about the integrity of the food's taste. Tender? Yes. The internet has proven that. I went on a Saturday afternoon. It was, 1hr:22 mins in line to place my order. 32 min wait to get my food after placing my order A total of 1hr: 54mins to get my food and go. ... But, to be honest, it felt efficient; there was just a lot of people. I thought it was cool they tried to keep the crowd entertained. The food: Everything was good; I felt like they leaned a lil too much into the "tenderism'. I prefer a bit more bite with my bbq. The oxtails were Smokey, peppery, and definitely tender. The pork belly burnt ends were a lil uneven to me. A couple pieces felt like a real burnt ends, other pieces felt like tender pork belly. It was also very Maple forward. The pastrami was the best meat I tried. So good, But still, a lil too tender. Update, I went back a few days later, on a Tuesday night. I was in and out in 10 mins. What a gem! I stumbled upon this place in search of BBQ on my trip to Temecula. The pork ribs are out of this world, even better than Heritage BBQ and similar to Moos Craft BBQ. The brisket is also good and fatty. Great yams with tons of cinnamon if you are a sweet potato fan. The ordering process can be slow as some customers change their mind at the cashier and hold up the line - best to know what you want before you get up there! I'll be back for the pork ribs! We were supposed to be in Texas but plans changed but still wanted BBQ so we gave them a try. There was a line out the door so I had high hopes. It's was good but not great. I was looking forward to the dino bone. I got an end rib and think it would have been better if I got a mid rack rib. Was a bit dry and very pepper forward. I usually like some pepper but this was a lot. The brisket was also not as moist as I had hoped it would be but was still good, as was the pulled pork. The fries were very good. The seating was great and the staff was very friendly. Parking was a challenge as they share a not very big parking lot with several other businesses. We may come back but I have a few other BBQ places I want to try first. read more
