We have been coming here for twenty years. It's a Friday night and no one is here. We asked about eating in the lounge and were told only one can be served at the bar at a time and the hostess said "later" for service in the lounge. You would think, with their income 50% DOWN, that they would be taking all over themselves for business. This is pathetic!!!! My husband and I live in San Diego. He graduated from Boise state, and we love coming back to Idaho a few times a year. This was my first time in McCall, we came with friends to see the fall colors and visit the hot springs. I'm really glad we came here for dinner (and didn't listen to all of the negative reviews)! We had fantastic service (thanks Corey!) and a really great meal. The finger steaks are VERY good. I would totally suggest getting those- it's an Idahoan delicacy and something everyone should try. They're homemade in house. I had the prime rib, and it was also delicious. Overall, a very good meal. I would totally recommend coming here and trying it for yourself- it's a McCall classic. Went here for our anniversary and it was really good! Our waiter Tammy was super awesome! She went above and beyond with everything and was super helpful! My house salad was so good with probably the best ranch I've ever had! My husband and I both got ribeyes. They weren't the best steaks we've ever had but they were pretty good! **PLEASE READ** Took my wife on a weekend away from the kids and decided to go to the Mill for a nice dinner. Environment wise, this place is great! Cool feel, cool decor, etc. from that aspect, I would totally send someone here. The staff was decent, not 5-star service, but overall they were kind and helpful. Now for the not so good... Had a long day and a big lunch so I just ordered the regular Caesar salad and added "grilled chicken". Do you know how long it takes to freshly grill up some strips of a 3/4 inch thick chicken breast cut into strips? Not long at all. What I got was pre-frozen, then microwaved past the point of consumption and was so dry that I am still trying to re-hydrate my mouth. Caesar salad was nothing special, but nothing you could not buy at Albertsons in a bag for $4. I got charged $9 plus $9 for inedible 4 chicken strips. My wife ordered fettuccine Alfredo which was mediocre at best. She added on the shrimp (which were done well, but there were only 4 or 5, but I digress) so I turned out ok overall. The warmed bread was one of the BEST parts of the meal, but they were just simple sourdough baguette, pre-cut and warmed up to bring to the table. Between this time and the first time I was there and got the ribeye, I would recommend taking a pass on this place. My suggestions: make all the food fresh when ordered. Set your food apart with flavor and experience. Don't use bagged salad, or anything else that is pre-made. With the prices that are being charged, this should be the best meal in town, but currently is not even top 10. Your atmosphere is legit and draws people, now the food needs to match. Then the obviously higher then a kite during katrina waitress comes back 2.5 seconds later and asks my young coworker if he wants his bacardi dirty(meanwhile shes had hands on him the whole time so far and her intentions of trying to slobber the meat missle are obvious and apparent) i inform her the shot was for me and he was serious about the water then i tell her his age and this lady still persists, that is untill ol boy flashes her the wedding band and the out loud looks at his wedding band and says oh....complete change in demeaner. We then tell her to close me out because were gonna go somewhere else for our meal and the drinks were all i wanted, this lady then proceeded to talk smack on every other restaraunt in mccall saying no other establishment could match their extremely overpriced food, we said wed take our chances and walked to the till and tgis chick tried to charge me 85 dollars, then 8500 dollars, then corrected the 2 drink bill to just under 20 bucks which after seing 8500 flash in front of me seemed ok just to get out the door. Bottom line is aviod at all costs, read the reviews first like i didnt and landed in an extrememly awkward situation. I am giving the Mill three stars because I think their food is overpriced for the quality of food you get. I paid $34 for a New York Steak. The steak came with soup or salad and the option of fries or baked potato. The steak itself wasn't seasoned that well. It was cooked as requested and not dry. The positives are that they accommodated my big party almost immediately and we didn't have to wait. The negatives are the overpriced food. I've been to really good steak places in San Diego, Ca where I live and I have bought the same steak for only 10 more. I would rather pay a little more and go to a better steak place. Come here if you are looking for something last minute but beware that the pricing is high for the food you get. read more

Not impressed in the slightest! I'm a Yelp fanatic and wish I had gone on here before. We were in McCall for the weekend snowmobiling and constantly saw cars here so we figured it must be decent. We were wrong!! First off this place is super dated and doesn't really even have a theme for their decorations unless it's useless old crap then they hit it in the head. Also you couldn't even tell who the wait staff was as they were dressed in I guess whatever they had that was clean. Not a huge deal but still for the prices they are asking they should have some sort of dress code or uniform. The service itself was ok but she seemed stressed even though there were not that many people there. We were a party of 6 and it took forever to get our drinks. I'm usually pretty understanding as we were a big party but I'm sure you will understand the theme of the evening. When our food finally came out I was taken aback. The plating was something that you would find in a Denny's but for about $50 a plate plus drinks.... Wow. I had ordered the medallions rare and they were a good medium. Mine were the most done at the table and I was the only one who had ordered rare. The peppercorn sauce it was served with had a film on the top and was more like a terrible gravy. My husband and another ordered the crab.... Whatever you do just don't!!!! It's precooked, frozen, then cut open and steamed. One was dry and still frozen at the same time. How does that even happen. She sent it back but was given an I'm sorry but nothing taken off the bill which I feel like anytime you send something back it should be taken into account. Basically just don't waist your time. I certainly wouldn't want to exaggerate,but the whole experience was comical in reflection this morning. It didn't help that we walked in on a high with anticipation of medium rare "world famous" prime rib and a cheesy baked potato. What we got was the F you! It's almost like they are intentionally are trying to put themselves out of business. Perhaps, it's the symptom of the disease of mismanagement. Our mistake was that we didn't read the yelp reviews before dining. Old fashioned I guess. I'm not one to hide behind the computer screen and type up smutty reviews. Here I am doing it! Lol We did, ever so politely, approach the manager last eve. To her credit, she was cordial and adjusted bill to an amount of a 40$ for piece of leather, cold shrimp smothered in teriyaki sauce, cold uncooked mushrooms, canned corn, excessively agonizing wait time, and food orders we did not receive. Oh my, I've been here twice (once yearly) for the last few years. I planned my birthday dinner and couldn't make it last year...sadly we won't be returning. My prime rib was cold (baked potato was warmer) neither hot. My sons prime rib was poorly cooked - no flavor. My husband recommends Laredo's prime rib. I will say that what I loveddddd here was the unique way they cooked the prime rib the usual way and then would sear-grill it. They stopped doing this and not worth the $134. Bad enough we are getting pizza. I give 2 stars because they tried had to recook both our meals. I hope they can improve, it's an awesomely cool place place with all the "mill" equipment to see and learn about. read more

We had dinner at The Mill last night. It has been several years for both of us since our last visit. We were seated in a smaller area next to two other couples, greeted by our servers quickly, it was quiet and very nice. The menu had a nice variety, though too expensive for what you are served, food and beverage. That being said, my ribeye was tasty, hot, a cooked to request. My bf's porterhouse was not very warm, over cooked, lacked flavor. Then, it happened. . . the hostess seated a group of 3 adults & 4 kids at the table next to us & the other adult couples who I would think it would it would be obvious were enjoying a quiet meal. We enjoyed children whining, banging silverware on the table, kicking the table legs, and unconcerned parents. We picked up the pace of finishing our meals, one of the other couples got the remainder of their meals boxed to go, and we then asked for our check. $101.05 for two steak dinners, one glass of wine, one beer, and loud children,,,,, we won't be back. We walked around the other dining areas before we left. There were a few other full tables scattered around, not quite sure why the family we experienced were seated next to us. We wanted to enjoy a nice steak dinner but had to listen to the raunchy table next to us use every expletive in the book and the waitstaff refusing to address it with them nor accommodate us by moving us to a table in another room. This cool steakhouse has a nice armosphere, and feels like a steakhouse. The prices are high, let's get that out in the open. $32 for a 12oz New York strip and a baked potato is probably $10 overpriced, but the steak was flavorful, perfectly cook mid rare, and even the fat was delicious. The French bread served before dinner was nicely complemented by the room temperature butter packets, perfect for easy spreading, and you can't argue with a carafe of ice water at your table. read more
