I loved looking at the antique and vintage stuff, some items did bring back some memories of small kid times but some were quite interesting to look at. One item caught my eyes, saw a mini cute sewing machine which I had to get for my mom, it reminded me of her ( she had a sewing machine just like it). I was surprised at the price and Kelii even packaged the items up so nicely. My mom was so happy when she opened it, thank you for doing this! The Kicknackery ( cute name btw) is a unique store located in downtown Hilo, that sells a variety of items including: Antiques, vintage collectibles, souvenirs, & quirky knick-knacks. We have purchased many pieces of furniture, plants, art and decor from Paradise Plants over the years. Objectively speaking we have come to realize over time that our purchases from Paradise Plants were all superior in quality and often times the same price as the pieces we bought from other stores both on-island and the ones we had shipped to the island that were far inferior in look and build quality. We purchased some pretty beds from Home World. They look great, however they are very cheaply made and we have had to rebuild all of the internal parts to make them stronger as they all broke in the first year. This was a great expense. Home World sells particle board junk. We noticed the beds we purchased from Paradise Pants had solid aluminum supports instead of cheap particle board. They are all super sturdy and look amazing and were the same price as the Home World particle board junk. Paradise Plants sells quality, unique, indoor furniture at excellent prices. Bamboo and Teak down the road is also good, but mostly used stuff so a bit like shopping at a garage sale, but sometimes you get lucky. Paradise Plants has new, gorgeous pieces every time we go in all at a good price. They also have an excellent outdoor furniture brand called Lagoon that is perfect for the environment here on the island. So far, It's the only outdoor furniture that has survived at our salty oceanfront locations and our corrosive Volcano location. That brand of outdoor furniture is Puna proof! It has no steel to get rusty and is all strong durable plastics and/or non-corroding aluminum. Very happy with quality and price as none of these end up in a landfill after 1-2 years like every other brand we tried. From price, quality/longevity, beauty of pieces, to their excellent customer service and ability to deliver and setup all pieces and have a great customer experience, you won't find a better store that is locally owned and operated employing great local people.

One attempted repair by a handyman the movers connected me with turned into a fiasco. In desperation, I turned to Iolani -- there not being a lot of furniture repair people in Hilo. Shanna saved the day. She repaired both items quickly, at shockingly reasonable prices. And she gave me a bit of useful info that, as a newcomer to the island, it would have taken me a while to figure out on my own. If Yelp let you give a business more than five stars, I would.

My mother in law sat in both of them and liked the second one. We put it on hold to make to check other furniture stores. We went to a store down the street and they were closed even tho it said they were open, the next one didn't have a smaller chair. We went back the next day to purchase the chair. They have plenty of interesting items for sale. Incense, clothing, magnets, and more. They also have lots of clothes reasonably priced. Some of the items are kind of pricey. Shot glasses were kind of high at around $7 and up. If you want more bang for your buck go to Walmart. They have some $1.99. Overall, a great experience. The Gals working there were very helpful and sweet. Can't wait to return.

I went back to the store for remedy. The woman in the store basically said tough shit. No refund, no exchange, no nothing. She handed me som dessicant to try drying it out. That did not work. I wasted $15.00 and was treated really poorly. I will not be returning to the store for anything...even though they have great stuff. Really pissed off. Im local and don't deserve to be ripped off. If you have shopping to do definitely go to Parker Square. That is where Bentleys Home Collection is located. I love everything in the store and ended up buying a couple trivets. I bought one big one with a pineapple and a small one with a plumeria. Later I ended up giving the small plumeria one to my sister. I really needed another big trivet the size of the pineapple one, so I called the store a few months later and they shipped me another one. Pass on the kitschy ABC Stores and tourist traps down by the ocean and head up to Waimea one day. Take a side trip to the Waipio Lookout and grab lunch in Waimea too.
