    Apple crumble and I forgot??

Busy place but worth the wait. Nice place to grab a coffee drink and some sweets to sit and relax. Short line but they are efficient. We've been to the one in Napa as well. This one seems a bit more "vibey". We strolled up and down the main street before stopping in. Nice little town.

Never heard of the Model Bakery but using Yelp for great Bakeries. We were on our way to a morning hike to Linda Falls. This bakery was on the way and not so crowded then the one in Yountvile. There was no line waiting outside, which was good. There were people eating outside and inside. There was no line to order, but we never been here so we let the locals go in front of us. I decide on the Oxford Veggie Breakfast sandwich, minus the ketchup. The sandwich was great lots of Avocados in each bite and the egg was spot on. Id highly recommend this breakfast sandwich. By bf got the carmel mocha and a bear claw. The carmel mocha was excellent, I wanted ordernone for self. The bear claw was jus ok. Very dry. Not recommend. But that's just opinion. Cute little bakery, very popular, quick service, lots of options, and very friendly service. If your ever in St Helena. Definitely go here for bake goods, breakfast, lunch, or and coffee and tea drinks.

    Kale Salad pre-mixing

If I was a pastry fiend, this review would likely be quite different, but as a salad lover, I can't recommend Model Bakery in the slightest. I was excited to see a kale salad on their menu, especially one with strong fixings such as squash and goat cheese; sadly, the ingredients were entirely AWOL. In the pre-mix photo, it appears like a relatively decent helping, but after mixing, it became a mountain of kale with the other ingredients having been a facade in the initial viewing. Classic shrinkflation by which a $20 salad (yikes!) is padded by a heap of greenery. Furthermore, the squash was undercooked and disappointing even in the few bites of it I had. I believe that the salad could be adjusted to be a satisfying meal (goat cheese is never a wrong choice), but right now it's a miss, for both the stomach and the wallet.

Another fabulous visit! Our family, visiting from the south of France, stopped into The Model Bakery in Saint Helena, and it was a savory and sweet experience. We were all captivated by the inviting ambiance and the tempting displays. My family felt the same way and stated that they felt they back in France . They (we all) fell in love with the English muffins, the sandwiches, and the drinks--each bite was a taste of perfection. We ended up sitting down for lunch, and every item we ordered exceeded our expectations. If we lived closer to the model bakery, we would be regulars every day until next time. Note: The service was incredibly welcoming and friendly.

I can't judge this place on any of its baked goods aside from the english muffin, but the english muffin is all you really need. We ordered one with sausage and egg and it was perfectly griddled with a really amazing chipotle sauce to really round out the whole sandwich. We also got a 6 pack of english muffins to go and had amazing breakfasts that entire week. I wish I bought more to stick in the freezer! The atmosphere was so cozy and quaint and the perfect way to start a slow morning before exploring the rest of St Helena. Model Bakery will forever be a go to spot for me now whenever I'm in the area.

Known for their English muffins, had to try their original breakfast sandwich. I'd say it was a very solid sandwich filled with plenty of egg, cheese and Canadian bacon. The English muffin itself was good and crispy in the outside. Not sure how often I'd want to pay upwards of $10 for this. The other baked goods to me were passable (brownie, wedding cookie, lemon loaf poppy cake). No bathrooms available and street parking.

    Christina C.

I tried the original breakfast sandwich and I didn't like it. The English muffin on it was good though. I preferred the breakfast smashburger instead. The chorizo wrap was good but next time I want to try their model wrap and their model biscuit breakfast sandwich. Service was fast. The line went by fast.

I don't know about their other baked goods but what I can say is their English muffins are one of the best I've had. The crust wi the cornmeal was excellent and the inside was super soft and airy. I'd come back just for them.

Cute cafe and bakery in DT Sonoma. This place was buzzing in the late afternoon. We popped in for some coffee and a bite to eat. Service was pretty quick at the counter and I had to go for the slice of veggie pizza and a coffee. A bit pricier which we expected being in this area but we found a small corner table to sit and relax for the time being. They warmed up my pizza and I thought it was quite tasty. They had some good looking pastries but nothing GF for my hubby. Will definitely come back!

Every time I visit this place, I always end up bringing some bread home. It's my kids' favorite bakery -- they absolutely love it! Even though it's quite far from where I live, I never miss a chance to stop by whenever I visit my sister. The warm interior reflects the shop's long-standing tradition.

Great bakery! Stopped in to grab a quick sweet treat and ended up grabbing a breakfast sandwich as well. The ginger molasses cookie is absolutely to die for and the English muffin is definitely worth the hype in my opinion. Coming from NYC where amazing bakeries are countless I have very high standards however model bakery definitely lived up to them and I would suggest anyone in the area pop in for a sweet treat or a breakfast or lunch.

I'm also happy to see a new business in the Oxbow! But, tho I'll give it another chance soon, I wasn't really happy with the Roman Holiday scoops. The flavors were fine and the density was similar to other gelatos, but I found it to be very sticky and gooey -- more like cake frosting than ice cream -- rather than creamy and milky. In fact there was no sense of dairy terroir at all, which is really one of the things that I look for and truly enjoy in a local ice cream or gelato. I'll give it another shot since I live around the corner. Will update here if I get a better impression.

I can't say much on the quality of their beans as I chose a slightly more sugary option from the menu that would have drowned that out anyways. When I returned to The Oxbow later in the year, I was interested to try their Matcha option. As multiple other reviews have noted, it tasted grainy, unmixed, and barely anything beyond green milk. I hardly tasted the syrup in the drink. It was supposed to be a brown sugar flavoring and it practically didn't come through at all. The service was curt and direct, but not unpleasant. Almost as if the barista wanted to move on task-wise to whatever came next (despite me being the only one actively ordering at the time).

Can't wait to come back sometime soon. ------ FOOD 1. [MUST TRY] BREAKFAST SANDWICH (5/5) I think the best breakfast sandwich we've ever had. The croissant was perfect: beautiful shape, expert lamination, extremely buttery taste, and super crispy from potentially an additional bake before becoming a sandwich. The egg was a fluffy souffle-type. Cheese and aioli were great, but most importantly, the sausage was EXCEPTIONAL. It was oddly shaped which is how you know it's a freshly-made sausage patty vs. a store-bought / freezer section sausage. 2. [MUST TRY] COCOA QUENELLE (5/5) One of the best chocolate desserts we had in Napa, and a chocolate lover's dream. The chocolate tart crust has an excellent chocolate flavor and is the kind with a very satisfying snap when you break it. The chocolate mousse covers a layer of thicker chocolate and a pool of salted caramel at the base of the tart. It's garnished with a chantilly cream quenelle on top with some candied nuts and cocoa nibs. Not only is this beautiful, but this is delicious. A must-have the next time I'm here. 3. [MUST TRY] SALMON RILLET (5/5) Super unique and high protein. Flattened and fried salmon skins that serve as your "chip". The "dip" is this lean trout + creme fraiche mixture topped with a layer of trout roe. The dip is on the leaner side vs. creamy side, so the salmon skin isn't hard enough to actually dip in the mixture. Better to use a fork to scoop the dip onto the salmon skin. 4. AVOCADO TOAST (4.5/5) Not my usual choice but the employee raved about this item. The avocado and kosho are mashed together into a smooth mousse that's then piped onto a great slice of sourdough. The acidity and kick of the kosho really shone through, making this better than most other avo toasts I've tried. 5. WAGYU SKEWERS (4/5) Two skewers with 3 pieces of wagyu each. The wagyu was good with flavorful salsa verde, but some pieces were a little tough. 6. GARDEN SALAD (4/5) Great, bright, simple salad. Large portion, great for some greens on the table! 7. BRIOCHE TART (3.5/5) Reminded me of a Czech kolache -- essentially a danish but instead of a puff pastry dough, it's a soft brioche bread. The center had a cream cheese and raspberry filling. While the filling was delicious and the brioche was nice, there was a bit too big of a brioche-to-filling ratio for my personal preference. 8. PAIN SUISSE (2/5) Given the ham, cheese, and mustard, felt like a play on a cubano. While the flavors were there, the pastry was unfortunately a bit dense and lacked the buttery, flakey layers I was hoping for. I asked for this to be warmed up, which they happily accommodated, but strangely the ham inside was actually cold, even after being in the oven. ------ ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE: * Beautiful cafe right next to the fabulous PRESS Restaurant in St. Helena. Essentially, it's on the road toward downtown but without the traffic of having to enter the downtown area. * Huge parking lot so parking is convenient and shouldn't be an issue * Both a large outdoor area with several different tables and high-top seats, as well as indoor seating (though only a few two-person high top tables and a handful of lower stool seats) * Overall the style is bright, colorful, and perfect for a girls trip, breakfast/lunch with friends, and quick stop for a coffee and pastry ------ SERVICE: * Surprisingly hit or miss. There was a gentleman here whom I interacted with the most who was absolutely wonderful and a joy to chat with. Similarly, another woman who seemed important was very kind. But a couple other employees were expressionless toward me. * Some items were ready surprisingly quickly while others took a surprisingly slow time to come out. For example, the breakfast sandwich and salmon rillets were super speedy. But then the wagyu and avo toast took 20-30 minutes to come out. Similarly, when I asked for the pan suisse to be heated up, it took over 10 minutes for them to do so.
