We took a quick day trip to Big Bear Lake to catch a little snow before the big storm and asked some locals for food recommendations. First question they asked us: "Do you like burgers?" Yes. Immediate yes They sent us to Broadway Café, and it did not disappoint. It's just past the Village, right off the main road by the lake, with easy parking on site. There's a small outdoor patio (great for pets or groups) and a cozy indoor space (only like 3 or 4 tables inside). The staff was incredibly friendly, especially the girl at the register, who was such a gem. You can see the chef in the back cooking, which is always a good sign. We ordered two burgers and fries to share, and wow... the burgers were HUGE and super filling. The fries were freshly made and hit the spot with a little salt and ketchup. Best part? We spent under $30 for both of us. Affordable, delicious, and great quality. Fun Broadway-themed décor too, especially if you love theater vibes. Highly recommend if you're visiting Big Bear and craving a solid burger spot.

I thought everything was pretty good, but I get the most basics of breakfasts (scrambled eggs with a side of avo). I did try their blueberry pancake which was yummy! Hubby got a salad with chicken and a burger the two times we've been. He was like it was "okay." Service is friendly, but slow, but I think it's just the mountain-lake vibe, a lot of restaurants in BB seem to be lacking the urgency us impatient city folks are used to.

We drove by this place and decided to give it a shot... They only have three table tables on the inside but they have outside seating and a deck. It has a really great vibe and ambience inside with very friendly staff and really excellent food I had a bagel sandwich very good! Vegetarian options too. Highly recommend

Everything from the food, the vibes, the hospitality 100/10!! A must stop for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Will definitely be coming back.

Food was yummy and filling, though nothing exceptional. Inside the restaurant is small and cozy, and they also have outside dining. It's a great place to stop on your way to or from snow tubing. I'd recommend!

3 tables for indoor dining.. there is plenty seating outside

Staff is super friendly. Came originally for the lattes... the house made syrups are the best, but they are seasonal! Comes in a huge cup. Breakfast burrito was sopo good esp with the green salsa it comes with. The pancakes are also really fluffy and tasty with the butter, didn't even need all the strawberry sauce, but good if you're a sweet tooth. Will be back

Had a bad experience here, regardless of all the good reviews. We ordered coffee and hot chocolate which both came out cold. French fries were also served cold. Chicken tenders were served with mayo even though we requested ranch. Burger was just okay nothing special. Server brought over one of our orders wrong. We requested ketchup for 5 people and were only given a tiny side to share.

Thank you for everything Broadway Cafe! The Brisket sandwich was amazing! The banana fosters latte was delicious, looking forward to try your other flavors! The service was perfect! You are all so sweet!

This was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life and it was super fairly priced. Our waitress was also so friendly and funny. The place is so cute especially the patio and there's the huge added bonus that everyone comes to eat outside with their doggies :)

We've been to the Broadway Cafe before, and it was very good. This time it was just ok. Our server was great. We sat on the patio. We had our puppy with us and she was so kind to him. We ordered our food and she told us about the doggy menu. We ordered a burger patty for our dog and a Pup Cup. I ordered the BBBBQ burger with fries, my wife ordered the Loco Moco and chili tots. The drinks came out quickly, but the food took a while. My wife really liked her Loco Moco. Runny egg, well seasoned patty and lots of gravy. The tots were half covered in a dry chili with beans, and their oil was old or dirty. The tots had the lingering taste of bad oil. My burger was large, but very dry. The patty was over cooked and dry. The bun was toasted and dry. There was an onion ring in it that didn't help. I wound up ripping off the edges of the buns and eating the center of my burger. They were having an off day in the kitchen. We'll be back to have a burger another time.

This was my lady's and my first time ever coming here and it was an amazing experience. My lady and I both got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was beyond delicious. Food was authentic, iced coffee was delicious, and waiters were beyond friendly. Highly recommend.

    The Broadway Cafe.

The Broadway Cafe is one of the best lunch stops in the Big Bear area. This place really shines on cool sunny days with patio seating. In inclement weather, inside seating is available, but is limited. Today I had the Blue Cheese Burger, Fries and Fried Pickles, and all were at the top of the game. The burger was nicely topped with blue cheese, just the right amount to hit the tang button but not so much to make a mess. The fries were better than perfect. I suspect a double fry is the trick. Anyway, the fries are crispy and crunchy on the ourside and tender on the inside. These were possibly the best fries I've ever had and I have had fries at hundreds of places, from dives to fancy restaurants. The fried pickles were terriffic...nice dill chips that were battered and deep fried. Yum is about all there is to be said. I ate mine plain to enjoy the crispy outside and tangy inside. Our waitress was fantastic, bringing a lot of friendly banter to the cafe, and she seemed to know many customers by name. Even though I was not a regular, I was treated as if I'd been coming in for years. Prices are very fair, and quanties are spot on.

We came here and discovered THE BEST FOOD AND THE BEST AMBIANCE. What a blessing

My low rating is entirely based on the customer service experience within the first few minutes of arriving. I came in with my dog, fully aware that we would need to sit outside. Since most restaurants still have you check in first, I stood at the podium where there was a sign indicating a server would check in guests. After standing there briefly, an employee asked if we wanted to sit on the patio. I said yes, and he responded by telling us to "go up the ramp." Not even in a friendly manner. Me being me I just wanted to verify that I didn't have to check in as it wasn't just myself, my party we're not all with me ..wanting to make sure I was following the correct process, I politely asked if I didn't need to check in first. His response came across as annoyed, basically repeating that he had already told us to go up the ramp. The interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive and rude. There's a difference between being direct and making guests feel unwelcome. I'm usually not someone who leaves negative reviews over one interaction, but both my husband and brother-in-law also noticed the attitude, as they were close enough to hear and it immediately made us uncomfortable enough to leave. Before leaving, I did take a quick look at the patio area and noticed it was very shaded with leaves scattered around from the wind, which didn't make the outdoor dining setup feel especially inviting either. Overall, this was disappointing because I had chosen this spot to celebrate my 30th birthday and was really looking forward to enjoying a big, delicious pancake. Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot and we decided not to stay.

I believe we got two pies that were two different berry mixes among other things. My husband wolfed both down because he ate one and loved it so much that he had to eat the other one. Mind you, my husband has grown up eating pies his whole life. His grandma used to make them from scratch all the time when she was still alive. Hubs is so very sad that we don't live close to the Pickles at all. We just happened to be in Big Bear on vacation and decided to stop by to grab some pies to take home. Our cousin was with us and got one slice to share with her parents and they ate it all. It wasn't enough. We all wish we had more. We'll definitely be back when we're back in town. This wonderful establishment has been around for OVER 30 years and the story behind it is one of Hollywood hero movies.
