Very cool bar/pub with vegan, vegetarian and omnivore menu items, and a great selection of Canadian beers. Definitely a place to meet up with friends, have a bite and a few drinks. 2 of the 3 servers we had were super chill, and the issue with the 3rd was probably just a miscommunication. The cauliflower wings and fried pickles were great, and I broke my vegan diet to try their pierogis, (which were delicious!) since they it was a childhood favorite, and I havent had them in years. A bartender at Smiths in Victoria recommended this bar to us. We had to walk a couple block to find parking, as the adjacent parking is only for the hotel that is right by the bar. This place has a pretty chill atmosphere and a cool crowd. The music they played was pretty good too. During the busiest part of the night, you're better off ordering your drinks at the bar as the one or two waitresses available take kinda long to bring the orders back, which is not surprising. When we did get service however, the waitress was really friendly and even suggested drinks including yummiest shot I've had, "The Burt Reynolds". This place even has a hot nut machine...how can you top that?!? read more

This place was always a "go-to" back in the day. So my bestie and I visited tonight after a few years away and found it strange the back was closed off to make it feel more full (?) like it used to. Notably the biggest difference was the incredibly intoxicated level of our waitress. All I can say is WOW. She was visibly drunk and spilled our own drinks on us, more than once. Took a group of 8 here on Sunday morning. Here's what happened: - Asked the server if they did brunch. She said yes, so we asked to see a breakfast menu (there were none on our table). This wasn't a big deal by itself, but it became an issue later. - Server waited until we had put in our order to tell us there was only one person working in the kitchen, and that we had to choose between waiting for our orders to come out one at a time or having some of the food served cold if we wanted it all to come out at once. - While we were waiting, saw a mouse on the table next to us. - Three of the eight orders came out wrong. - The server didn't bring out salt or pepper with the food; had to ask for it separately. - When the check arrived, we noticed a mandatory 18% gratuity on the total (which wasn't listed on any of the menus). We also noticed that we had been charged for coffee, which the breakfast menu stated was included. We brought this up with our server, who said that the breakfast menus were normally only for guests of the hotel above the restaurant--and that she had only brought them out as a "favour" to us. Essentially, she gave us those menus and didn't explain that the terms on them didn't apply to us until after we had finished eating and it was time to pay. - Asked to speak with a manager. The server, Sam, claimed that she was the manager, and that the menus weren't required to be clear about the policies in question. After taxes and the surprise mandatory gratuity, it cost my wife and I almost $60 to put up with all this. Plus, the food was bad. The Morrissey is cozy in the sense you'll likely be in full body contact with your neighbor due to how over-packed the place is. When I'm here I feel like one of those tile games where there is only one spot free and you can only move one piece at a time, and not without jumbling everything around. But despite this busyness the staff tend to handle things very well -- ordering people where that one free spot is and how to organize themselves. I feel poorly for the servers who have to hover with drink trays through the place. A flying carpet would really help matters. But then again, what wouldn't a flying carpet make better? I love the dark draft beers and prices are pretty reasonable. I've also never paid a cover here, which makes Morrissey worth the trip to the southern reaches of the Granville Entertainment District. read more

Came here Friday night for a party. Was amazed and pleased at how packed it was. We took over a couple of tables in the back and thankfully had ample room to sit or stand, as we pleased. I definitely agree with all other reviews that service is super slow. But with that many patrons shoved in to a small space, I guess that's expected. Our first round of drinks were forgotten but our server was very pleasant throughout the night. A beer ordered was out and so a replacement brand was brought, on the house. Definitely a nice touch. The DJ is always entertaining to watch and the decor is dark, with fun lights in the back section. The room gets quite loud and so ensure you're not going for a quiet 1 on 1 session. Washrooms look to be a part of the hotel and are clean and basic. read more

My favorite irish pub in Vancouver... really great! What makes it great is that it seems to attract mostly a 'local crowd' (whatever that means) - and doesn't overplay the while 'irish pub' thing. I stopped in The Morrissey for dinner and drinks, they had several drink specials but the dinner menu was quite limited, it is just burgers with a few appy options. I got their vegetarian burger which was a chickpea patty, while the flavors were really good, chickpeas are naturally grainy and mushy and they texture was a bit like chewing on a tasty piece of playdo slipped into a bun with some veggies and cheese! Chicken wings were on special and the whole bar smelt like smoked barbecue, while I am against eating chickens I love me the smell of barbecue sauce! The decor and crowd was a little hipster but that doesn't bother me, they have lots of random pictures on the walls, a huge wax covered chandelier, pew like booths, tricycle hanging on the ceiling, it gave me something to do while I waited a long time for my food, people that came after us were served first. Otherwise the service was good, the music wasn't rechid and their was lots to look at! read more

What can I say about the Morrisey Pub except that its awesome! Pros: Full bar, beer specials every night of the week, good service, reasonable food and the decor is nice. Cons: It can get completely packed on the weekends if you show up late or if a playoff game is on. A good place to hang out, oddly located pretty close to the Granville street bridge ramp and attached to the side of The Ramada (is it owned by the hotel?). Fun decor, good servers, a decent size rotating craft beer selection (interesting stuff, not Alexander Keith's trying to pass itself as craft beer!), and food that's OK. I'm especially a fan of the decor, low lighting, and hodgepodge of furniture. It's in all honestly not a 4 star location, but 3 stars would be a disservice. I was here with coworkers on a Thursday night. Tired, thirsty and hungry. Drinks were no problem, but I figured the food might be a little average. I was happily surprised that this wasn't the case. I had something called "hippy chick" I think. Basically a burger patty made of chick peas. It was really good, and a deal at $11. I'd definitely recommend this place. My only complaint was too much dressing, but alas I didn't say dressing on the side, so partly my fault. One funny thing: 2 guys came in and one asked the server "IS THIS THE IRISH HOUSE?" I hosted my husband's 40th birthday there last night and what a fantastic night it was. I had personally never been before but it came highly recommended and was an ideal choice for an event with the elegant yet rock and roll vibe. The staff were so fantastic at taking care of everyone and making sure we all had what we needed at all times. I really couldn't express how great they were to us and what a great time everyone had. The main server taking care of everyone- Dora or Nora (it was at the end of the night when I caught her name) was hands down the best. The Morrissey Pub - Pubs Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

We arrived around 9:45 and the playoff game was on the tv, but we decided to stick around anyway. The decor inside is really nice with a variety of table and booth seating with televisions on all sides for the game, most of which were withdrawn once it ended. After the game, a DJ took over entertainment and that's when the pub really filled in. Music was mostly selections in the punk and postpunk categories (think Joy Division, The Clash, early Cure). The draught beer selection is formidable with about 25 brews on tap and table service was very efficient, never leaving us with an empty glass. I would have given this place 5 stars if there had not been a hockey game, as hockey is not very Rock n Roll and the vast majority of patrons seemed to wait for the game to be over to show up. read more

Nothing about this place really stands out. The decor is a little dated and the tables are in need of some new varnish. Perhaps this is their theme. Their bottle collection is pretty legendary and the service was brought with a smile. On tap beer was cold and fresh so no complaints there. Location of this venue is also pretty ideal. I just flew into Vancouver and decided to go out and have a beer. I walked around the corner and here is this Irish pub. Always happy to visit an Irish pub especially in other cities. This one didn't let me down. The place had great woodwork and a cozy atmosphere. There were plenty of choices to drink from. It was such a great pub that I didn't just stop at one beer. I spent the rest of the night until closing there. The bartender spent a lot of time talking to us and helping us with our out of town questions. Decor: very very cool, despite it being dark. Lots of comfortable seating. Two large tables at the back that seat 8. Music: really really good, loved every song. Lots of Black Angels. Service: pretty terrible, maybe we had a bad server, but it took like 45 minutes to get food. She brought us the late night menu when it was only 8:30, so she had to get us more menus. Took her like 10 minutes for her to come back and take our order. Food also took a very long time to get here. I didn't get her name. Food: well the kitchen forgot ham on my grilled cheese.. but my poutine was good (probably because I was starving). After receiving the correct grilled cheese I was filled up from extra beer so could hardly eat it. Nothing special about the grilled cheese either. Not enough cheese, and not gooey enough. Overall: they gave us a round of beer on the house, so I guess I'd be willing to give it a second try. read more

This is a great place to grab drinks if you are not part of the dubstep and Top 40 crowd. The atmosphere was very warm and cozy, and great for people watching. It has a lot of angles and nooks for privacy without feeling like you are cut off from the action, and you can actually hear your table mates speak without shouting. It reminded of the pubs in London and York with the ambiance and clientele. By no means a real Irish pub, but that doesn't mean it's flavourless and corporate at all. I had a good time guessing the songs and artists that were playing (I heard a lot of New Order, NIN, Pixies and possibly Mudhoney). The drinks were pricy, but that seems to be the case across Granville. They actually have good specials every night but Saturday. I went last night and 1516 and Gin and Tonics were $4.75. I paid $8.25 each for a Strongbow and a Guinness. Plus my waitress gave me a free pint of Guinness because the bartender made an extra by mistake! The food was actually delicious, I was completely surprised. I was starving and it was really late, so I ordered the bucket of fries with spicy dip. The seasoning was amazing, and the fries were perfectly crispy. Some of the best I have ever had! And the dip they serve is just delightful - order an extra, it goes fast! My service was very quick and friendly, though they were by no means busy so keep that in mind. The bartender walked over and got me a drink while my waitress was busy, and the rest of the night the waitress stopped by every few minutes to check on me. I was visiting the city and she even recommended some areas to check out, which I appreciated. Overall, very much worth the trip. Great times last weekend at the moz! A friend brought me by for the first time and holy what a place! We got a table in the back and proceeded to get WASTED! The morrissey burger was incredible and definitely filled me up for the night. We drank 1516 all night and rocked out to some classic tunes. The staff there was a lot of fun. Very down to earth babes just doing there job trying to have fun at the same time! Even strangers there were a fun time! Same goal for everyone, eat drink party. I LOVED IT! So this place is awesome. Was at the Morissey two or so weeks ago for a friends birthday. They have this big room upstairs with big tables. And there's a big mirror at the end of the room which makes it feel almost twice the size. Service was a little slow to start (server was nice but it took her a while to actually come over and take our order). Once we ordered everything was great! Food (unfortunately only appetizers by the time we ordered) was delish! (try the squid!). Our server Julie was great, the service was friendly and refreshingly genuine. Recommendations: awesome! (try the Gypsy Beer). Some of the friendliest service I`ve received in this city. Everyone should try this place out! But you may wait a bit for your beer on a busy Friday or Sat night. read more

We came in around 3 pm. No one was there but the pub had been recommended by the desk clerk at the Residence Inn where we were staying so we lingered until someone emerged from the back. Was looking for a place to grab a nightcap with four friends. The hotel staff recommended this place so we paused for a couple of seconds on the sidewalk outside. Before any of us could pose the question to the others about whether there was interest (two of us later shared that it immediately didn't look like what we were seeking), the doorman looks is over and tells us they're full. We're a casual bunch, wearing matching hoodies, jeans, and boots. Not dirty or trashy looking, but obviously not dressed up either since all we wanted was to grab a drink somewhere before turning in. We proceeded to a nice sports bar across the street and watched as the doorman at the Morrissey let in multiple people over the next hour without anyone leaving. First of all, man up and just tell people if there's a dress code. Honesty = integrity. As far as larger pubs go this one gets good marks from me. I know they're 'auto-gratting' right now but at least they have signs all along the bar noting that. Our server dealt with the Canada vs USA hockey patrons with a big smile while she patiently manoeuvred through the crowded room. Pitchers of beer are well priced with a good selection. We ordered wings, calamari and fries but there are healthy salad options and veggie burgers as well. The food was well done for pub food - not greasy at all and the portions were good. Walked in with a group of 8 friends Around 12pm on a Sunday. Live music ( terrible ) fairly busy , all tables in the front taken. Empty booths in the back so we took one. The host or server walked by twice , too busy to talk out order which was understandable since it was busy. Sat there for 15 mins while a few from out group went to get drinks. After 15 mins the host went to get the bouncer (!?) to tell us to move since that area was closed ( why let us sit there for 15 mins then ? ) then the bouncer Asked to check out ID again ( were 38 and 43) so now after 15 mins we have no table and no drinks... so I get in line to get drinks and it looks like an episode of bar rescue. Two bar tenders and a server in chaos. Only about 25 people in he bar and most seem to have drinks already and they weren't serving food. The 3 young ladies in front of me were ordering cocktails so I figured it would take the bartender at least 10 mins to make them given how they seemed to be overwhelmed already.
