I've called them twice now (I'm 40 miles out of the area). First time I called was in December 2016 about purchasing a 959 Panigale. The sales rep (on the phone) said that he couldn't give me an estimate for an OTD price, without his managers approval. So he said he would check and call me back...never did. A few weeks ago I called about buying a Monster 821 or 1200 and I think it was the same guy. But this time, he told me they had a 2015 model, for the SAME PRICE as a 2017. Again, no estimate on the OTD price and the same "gotta check with my boss and I'll call you back" (summarized not verbatim). He never called me back. Very poor service depart. First they call me with a quote to repair my motorcycle. Then I called them the next day and told them to go ahead. Then they call me back and said the work has been done and come pick my motorcycle up. When I came in to pick up my motorcycle, the work hadn't been done and they say they don't know anything about giving me a quote for the repairs, they don't know anything about calling me and saying the work was done and now they want to re-bid the work at 50% higher than what they originally bid the work. Firstly, my friend and I came here after going to another dealership to look at what the out the door price of the ruckus (we already got a great quote from another dealer, 3k out the door). So I forgot who helped us, but the first thing they did was pull us to the counter and gathered all our information and gave us a price of ~$3400. He said he could knock it down to around 3250. Then we said we'd think about it and the guy got all mad that we were going to take this his information to another dealer. So that's the end of that. Second, we decided to purchase an OEM headlight for my low beam on my ninja 250 Kawasaki since we're here already. The dude seem pretty nice about it. Got us the part quickly. Me having not changed the headlight before, assumed it was the right part. The bulb looked about the same size, but the built in connector happened to be completely wrong. I went and tried to change the headlight a few days ago and the socket did not fit at all. I look online to look at the blueprints for the OEM parts, it was not the right socket at all. In fact, the bulb and socket are sold separately, so the one I was sold was a completely different bulb even though the bulb size matched the OEM list. I guess this is partly my error for not knowing what I was purchasing, but if you're a shop trying to sell parts, you should know what you're selling. I gave all my information (year, make, etc) to the guy so he could look it up on his system. Worst part, $40 for a damn bulb that doesn't fit. Never driving out here again read more

Love that The Motor Cafe regularly hosts Ducati and KTM demo events. I've attended several and eventually bought a very expensive Ducati Multistrada from Daniel. The price wasn't great, but the transaction went smoothly. After that, the fun was over. Got introduced to Erik Carter, the jackass who runs their service department. Asked if all the latest software updates had been uploaded to the bike, since there were fixes for several well-known problems. He told me not to worry about updates and that they would get applied when I brought the bike in for the first service (which they couldn't schedule for six weeks!). Asked about one particular recent update, which fixed a safety-issue related to the ride-by-wire throttle, and Erik claimed not to know anything about it. Rode the bike for a few weeks, ran into the ride-by-write bug and was lucky to escape without a major accident. Took the bike back, spoke to Erik again, and told him I was going to park the bike until they could apply the update. He then admitted that Ducati reps had been by to tell them about the update, which happened BEFORE I bought my bike, but he still didn't think the update was necessary. After practically yelling at me about how backed up they were and how much of a hassle the update was going to be, he finally agreed to have someone do it the following day. Not sure why the dealership puts up with this attitude! Needless to say, I won't be bringing my Ducati back to The Motor Cafe for service if I can help it! I'll also think twice about purchasing another Ducati since there isn't an alternative dealer nearby... read more

This business does not stand behind the products they sell. Save your money, and shop somewhere reputable. I purchased a tire from them, and a year and a half later it had decayed and cracked so badly that it was too dangerous to ride on, and had to be replaced. They acknowledged that it was defective, but refused to replace it, saying that I should contact the manufacturer and maybe they would do something. They were happy to take my money, but not so eager to replace a defective product they sold. read more

The tire install promo is the best deal I have ever seen, both tires $50 wheels on if you buy from them (tire price was less than online) and it even included a free chain service. Worked with Sam in service and he was honest and upfront about the other work that needed to be done. Some in warranty and some out of it. Got the job done earlier than expected and did it with a smile. Will definitely be back. read more

I have to say, plenty of negative reviews on Yelp for this place. That being said I went in there and asked them what gives. One of the sales guys gave me some politically correct story about how the Internet is a source of bad info etc. I get that, however, the number of less than stellar reviews had me wanting to get to the bottom of it before I brought my new Hypermotard SP in for service. Service is where the bulk of the complaints originated. People don't take time to complain about the kind of stuff detailed in here unless there is a real problem... Moving on, the same salesman (Greg, great guy, go buy a bike from him!!) happily escorted me behind the sales area to the service area. On first glance, the shop seemed busy, cleaner than most shops I've run across in 25 years, and well organized...hmmmm. Greg introduced me to the new service manager, gave a brief introduction about my concerns and turned me over to service. After a lengthy discussion about going fast on slower bikes and just sharing about riding, I got a very decent, well explained, NON-apologetic story about how things were in the service dept. and where they are going. He didn't throw rocks at the previous service manager or make excuses, he simply said he was brought in to fix things...he described his new quality control processes and his commitment to excellence and communication with the customers, hell, you can even talk to the tech who worked on your bike. All in all, I posed an awkward question to them about their crappy reviews, and I simply wanted an in person honest response. What I got I felt was an honest rendering of the past and a great explanation and demonstration about where they are going. Very well handled. Most people would shy away from that kind of face to face Q&A. I knew when I left I would bring my new Ducati to them for its maiden service. Simply because it took stones to answer some of my questions, I have been an avid consumer, a club racer, owned dozens of bikes over the years and even worked in the business for a handful of years, so I can usually smell a rat if there is one...apparently he is gone (that's my assessment not the service managers). Fast forward a week, called, dropped off my bike, in this case (600 mile service isn't hugely invasive at all) got a call that my bike was done the same day. I didn't need it that day, but that was a sign of how things are changing there. Everyone I dealt with was professional and courteous, I suggest you act the same just out of the knowledge that your ride is in their hands and probably best not to piss anyone off who has your bike. The service manager was busy QC'ing every bike before it left and he was even using spray polish to clean the bikes...WOW!!! I have never seen that before. He was double checking brake caliper bolts, chain tensions, shift linkages, and hand controls for proper operation. I'm sold on the "New" Motor cafe service dept. I'll definitely be back. read more

I had to input this solely based on integrity. This shop diagnosed an issue on my bike incorrectly which luckily another shop found was something much less extreme/costly. I brought this to the Motor Café team's attention and they reimbursed me for the diagnostic charge without hesitation. They made a mistake but honed up to it. My god.. If you want to buy a bike, make sure you come here, the people that work here will treat you like royalty, that's how I felt when I came here. Everything was so organized and they had all the sizes available for the attire and shoes. To get to the main point here lol I purchased two 2015 ducati 899 panigales(one for me and one for my brother) and i was very pleased the way the customer service was provided for us. The people here know what they're doing. Jose and Daniel are such great salesmen. They answers all my questions in a very professional matter. This place closes at 6pm but they were SOOO KIND to stay there an extra 30 minutes for us to get there. So we finally got there like at 6:30pm and went gear shopping. I say we finished gear shopping at 8:45pm and then did all the paperwork for the 2 bikes. Jose and Daniel even lowered the price that we have already agreed on like how cool are they!! SUUPER!! Then they parked both bikes outside and have us the demo and like I said answered all of our questions about the bikes. Is also like to give a special thanks to Dan which is the apparel salesman. He is a great staff me never as we'll he helped us choose and fit our gear ! I just have to say that my experience here was awesome and that I recommend this place to everyone. My bike died a couple miles from The Motor Cafe on my way home after work. Bad battery, stalled at a light, would not start. Tow truck companies could not help, said they would not give me a jump start. I searched Google and found The Motor Cafe and called their parts counter. John not only looked up the battery for my bike, but agreed to DELIVER it to me on his way home! That was the help I needed to get home safely. I give this store 5 stars for sales and 0 stars for the service department I bought my Honda Rebel from Honda Peninsula Ducati about five years ago. The sales person was Jose. He was the BEST! He was friendly, but not pushy. He was knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions. He explained the loan process clearly. It was the first time I applied for a loan. He went over all of the controls on the bike with me. It was my first bike. He continues to be friendly after the sale. Whenever he sees me in the shop he stops to say hello. The service department at Honda Peninsula Ducati is horrible. I always make an appointment and bring my bike in right when they open, but they always do my bike last. Kind of rush through it at the end of the day. The last time I had my bike serviced I told them it was making a noise. They told me it was just the chain guard rattling. They suggest I take it off. I took the chain guard off but the noise was still there. So I asked my friend to look at my bike because I was concerned. He said the chain was in poor condition and about to break. I had the chain changed. The noise stopped and the bike runs so much better. I could have had an accident if I had ignored the noise as Honda Peninsula Ducati told me to do. I don't know if Honda Peninsula Ducati brushes me off and gives me poor service because my bike is only a 250, or because I'm a woman, or they just treat everybody in a reckless way, but I'm not taking my bike back there again. read more

Did everything they said they were going to do, were clear on when it would be done, actually called me to say it would be done, were helpful and courteous when I went to pick it up. I became a new, registered Yelp user just so I could leave positive comments about my recent experience with the service group at The Motor Cafe. I brought my Ducati in for some repair work and for the replacement of a tire. The team there was very responsive and supportive throughout, and when we had to do some scheduling adjustments, they went the extra mile to make it all work for me. The bike is out of warranty, but they looked at whether there was a chance of getting the manufacturer to cover a repair item, and, when that looked unlikely, volunteered to make some adjustments in their charges to make the whole thing more digestible. When I came to pick up my bike they also informed me that the bike needed some tender loving care etc change the gas and clean the carb. I am SO GLAD we have a new KTM dealership here in the South Bay. With several KTMs in my garage, its nice to be able to get parts in an instant. They have many oem parts in stock, and it only takes 2-3 days if they need to order something. Best of all, their prices even beat internet sources for oem ktm parts, and they don't charge shipping if you pick them up at the dealership. Excellent experience with Tony in the service department. Hadn't had my duc serviced for almost 10 years, and these guys brought it back to life - changed oil, timing belt, chains, flushed clutch, changed tire, all for $800 which was even less than Tony quoted me, and not bad for a bike with no maintenance for 10 years. It rides sooooo much smoother now. Tony was also able to fit in unexpected service even tho his calendar was booked up for two weeks. I've had nothing but good experiences with the folks there, both as to the guys in sales and the folks in service/parts. Always very friendly and helpful, both in person and on the telephone. No high-pressure sales BS or bait and switch. I've done a few special orders and they always get them ordered promptly and call me when the item comes in. I actually enjoy spending my money here. The staff is extremely courteous and knowledgeable. The parts department guy piratically knows me by name. The prices for parts are Honda priced(fair). They have been very punctual about notifying me when ordered parts come in. My 1000cbr is running in excellent condition thanks to these guys. I've only had the service department throw on a rear tire, but from what i gather the service was professional. I would highly recommend coming here for genuine Honda/Ducati parts, service, and accessories. read more

I'm the owner of a 2011 Ducati Monster 796 still under warranty including the roadside assistance. On Sunday the battery was dead so I called the roadside assistant hotline. They send me a tow truck to bring the bike to the nearest Ducati dealer. My bad luck, it was The Motor Cafe. I called them twice to get some information about the condition and the expected repair time. At the first call they said, there is no technician to check the bike. The next day, the same answer and the question, if I bought the bike by them. No. I bought it in LA. Ooohm, under these circumstances, it will take time to check the bike because there are soooooo many customers with an appointment..... blabla. So I have no chance to bring the bike to a customer orientated dealer and service point, because it is a case of warranty and I didn't want to pay a lot of money to fix a warranty issue. Keep away from this place or have a companion there. read more

This has been the worse experience I have ever had. If you value your motorcycle, do NOT leave it with these guys. I brought my VTR1000F here because the cam chain tensioner had failed. A common problem with this motorcycle and easy to fix. Three days later, my bike is totally torn down and they wanted to replace everything with new parts. I asked if the parts were bad, and they said it was just their practice to replace everything that could be bad. I finally got just the cam chain tensioner replaced and the bike sort of put back together. Parts were missing or loose. I drove it home and let it sit for a couple of months. The next time I drove it oil poured out. I took it back and Murray the service manager, admitted that they screwed up the bike and then didn't want to fix it. He finally fixed the oil leak and said the valve cover bolts were not tightened. I also got a refund for the heli-coil that was never put it. I am still finding parts missing on the bike like a missing exhaust gasket and cowl washers. read more

i had went out to fire up my Kawisaki Dual Sport 650 one day right before work only to realize the rear tire had gone flat. Not wanting to take the risk of filling it up then potentially having a blowout on the freeway, I took it in to a highly recommended bike shop up in Sunnyvale called The Motor Cafe. There i met with a man named Kevin to talk about the maintenance due on the bike besides the tire, he was very informative and happy to help! I left my bike there over the weekend for a basic service. I was told he doesn't work mondays so he directed me to call in for a guy named Nate, he too was extremely helpful and knowledgable about my bike. Nate informed me that the shop had my bike ready, new tire and fully serviced ready to go! i went to pick it up that evening and WHAT A DIFFERENCE that service made, it was like night and day! Not only was the staff extremely helpful and friendly, the shop is cool to poke around in a bit and the price wasn't bad either compared to some other shops i had been to prior. I will always take my bike to this shop for any maintenance or service, i highly recommend you do too! Thanks again fellas! read more
