Wonderful experience here over the new years weekend. Started with the baguette which, if you're trying to decide if it's worth it, let me help you out... it is. Just order it, trust me you won't regret it. Moved on to sharing a bowl of the French onion soup, a little different than the normal expected crock with gobs of cheese. Ours arrived a little not so hot but we asked to get it heated up and it came back piping and delicious! Next I decided to get the croque monsieur which is soooo good. Look, here's what I'll say. I don't do mustard. I'm weird about it, it's a funky tactile thing for me and I've never been able to stomach the stuff no matter how fancy. Their mustard spread was so delicious I could have slathered it on everything. A pot of tea to drink and I was good to go. The place is so cute, staff are SOOOO friendly and accommodating, I can't wait to come back and try more options from one of the prix fixe menus another time. Worth the trip!! read more

Poor service, escargot were empty and had to send it back. Wrong meals came out. They put it on someone else's table and gave it to us. My wife's meal was cold and sent it back. Definitely will not be back. read more

Amazing. 10/10. The service by Tracy was top notch, and the owner, John, came out and talked with us for a while. It was Fathers Day, so there was a special menu that had meat from the grill (choice of 4), grilled veggies, Mac and cheese, and honey cornbread biscuit. We stumbled upon this charming French bistro while touring around Mt. Dora with friends. We were enticed by the afternoon high tea service, which was fantastic. We shared the three tier tea plates and each selected a tea of our choice from a varied menu. The food and service was so exceptional that we returned for brunch the next weekend and dinner a few weeks later. Every experience was wonderful, from the food to the service. We had the pleasure of dining at the bistro last night May 17th with several couples. Chef John and his staff prepared and served up a PERFECT celebratory meal of French onion soup, vichyssoise, hand carved steak filets, beef ribs, and various veggies. The food was amazing and the timing of the courses was perfect (exactly 14 minutes in between each course). The staff was extremely courteous and never let our wine glasses or water glasses come anywhere near empty. Now here's the kicker. We were even treated to a show when Chef John evicted a freeloader by the name of Professor Pritch (this is what he screamed as John tossed him and his party out "how dare you toss ME...Professor Pritch out!") for eating an entire meal, THEN complaining that the food was substandard, and refusing to pay the check. At first, we thought the yelling was a joke and quickly realized that Chef John was serious. Several regular patrons supported Chef John and offered to toss the vagrant out. Chef John graciously apologized to everyone else dining in the restaurant and was surprised to get clapping in response. Other Mount Dora restaurants be on the lookout for a freeloader if he makes a reservation under the name Professor Pritch. He's out only for a free meal and has no intention of paying. read more

We've been wanting to try this cute French bistro. We're so glad we did! Great wine selection. I had the PNW oyster appetizer and we shared the mushroom pate and baguette. We also shared the caesar salad. The Porc au Pruneaux was delicious. The BEST customer service. We will return and let friends and family know of this special place. The service was so accommodating. We had some particular eaters and they worked with us. The Pork Osso Bucco melted in your mouth and the Pork aux Pruneaux was so flavorful. It's a bistro, so casual dress. The food is amazing and French without being stuffy. read more

Opened in March 2023, The Bistro shines above many of the towns other eateries in all areas...service, food quality, and the open, friendly owner and staff who make you feel like you're home. We were there for lunch as the menu caught our eye. You want true French food? Then this is the place to go. The house-baked baguette -- served warm in a paper bag had a light crust and was just incredible. I started with the smoked salmon and caviar with hard boiled egg, capers, cherry tomato, cream cheese and a croissant -- I was in heaven. I then had the Turkey and melted Brie sandwich with a homemade country cranberry sauce -- so tasty and the best I've ever had. Even the accompanying salad with a mustard vinaigrette was wonderful. And my unsweetened ice tea was great. All of the desserts looked incredible and for the first time since I've known her, my friend got dessert and raved about it. We (a group 6 friends) had brunch yesterday (Sunday-mimosa's day) at this bistro. The food was to die for. John, the chef, prepares this meal that includes eggs, a meat, waffle, croissant, madeleine, salad, chocolate mousse, quarter pancakes, palmiers, macarons, etc. ... all in small portions for each guest. Every item was DELICIOUS!!! In addition, the service was wonderful which includes John, the owner and chef. We also bought chocolate truffles on our way out. The ambiance is cozy and nice. We went in for à la cart service and it was fantastic! The inside is very simple and clean and a gorgeous sun sets through the garden through the windows.
