This location is in the middle of an identity crisis. It's been rebranded into something new, something regrettably unremarkable, but the name is the only thing that's changed. The food hasn't changed. The ambience hasn't changed. The execution hasn't changed. For over a decade, locals have known it as The Mug, and the on‑again, off‑again consistency has been part of its lore. At this point, I'm not entirely convinced the people running it know what's going on inside their own walls. Let's address the giant elephant in the room: not everything should be deep‑fried in beef tallow. Beef tallow has its place. It can be magical. But it is not a universal frying medium, and here it's used for absolutely everything--onion rings, French fries, breaded chicken sandwiches, pork tenderloins, you name it. The result is a lineup of fried items that are all incredibly heavy, with the tallow overpowering flavors that should be bright, crisp, or delicate. Take the onion rings. They're hand‑cut, hand‑breaded, and clearly made with care. But the fryer undoes all that effort. Instead of that sulfuric snap you want from a good onion ring, you get a mouthful of beef tallow and disappointment. They're almost good, but the heaviness steamrolls the experience. Now, to be fair, the pork tenderloin actually benefits from the tallow--though lard would be the better choice. Pork fried in pork fat just makes sense. It gives the sandwich a unique edge and puts it in the running as one of the better executions of Indiana's unofficial state sandwich. And since most Hoosiers prefer their tenderloin dry with no toppings (and will absolutely roast anyone from out of state who dares add lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo), the extra flavor from the fat helps the sandwich stand on its own. The burgers are excellent, with plenty of topping options, and the ice cream offerings are legitimately fantastic. The farm‑to‑table sourcing from Tyner Pond Farm is admirable, and yes, beef tallow isn't cheap--hence the higher prices. But the fried side of the menu needs serious recalibration. Now for the part that matters, and the part I'm uniquely qualified to speak on. This place could benefit from an executive chef. And they had one. Me. During a particularly chaotic period, they fired half the staff--including myself--via email. They shut the place down for a month or two for a remodel (not the remodel that changed the name; that came later). The person responsible for that spectacularly bad decision is no longer with the company, and probably not for that reason, which tells you everything you need to know about upper management's involvement--or lack thereof--in restaurant operations. This isn't a revenge review. I'm not holding a grudge. The person who made that call is gone, and I'm simply giving a balanced, honest assessment from someone who knows the kitchen, the sourcing, and the potential of this place from the inside out. My advice: Run one fryer with a lighter oil for items like onion rings and fries. Consider lard instead of beef tallow for the pork tenderloin. Let the ingredients shine instead of drowning them in heaviness. The Mug has good bones. It has great sourcing. It has standout items. But right now, it's a three‑star operation with a four‑star ceiling--if they're willing to rethink the fat and rethink the leadership. read more

This is a lovely place to eat! The outdoor seating is unique in that it's air-conditioned; so even in the cold winter, you can still eat outside. The restaurant provides board games to play and chalk for kids to draw with. Its a family-friendly and dog-friendly place; perfect after visiting the park. Did I mention it's near the park? The food is good too, albeit a tad overpriced. My personal Favorite is the bacon burger with is absolutely scrumptious. I recommend going at night because it pretty tranquil and very nice experience. The food is always 50/50. Could be a giant amazing tenderloin or the waitress could have misunderstood your order. Such as once I asked for extra bun, tenderloin cut in half, extra pickles and extra toppings. All items I was being charged extra for. I got a tenderloin ONLY pickles, on one bun, whole thing cut in half. ‍ nope. Not what I wanted. Wait times are usually 30-60 mins in the summer so no thanks. I ordered a smash burger no cheese with onion, pickle and mustard. We waited along time and a waitress even came out to offer us ice cream because of the delay, declined as I have dairy allergy. My smash burger came out covered in cheese, lettuce and tomato. Asked them to fix the mistake. The owner/manager (?) came out and said he was going to comp us. That was kind. After we got the attention of staff and were seated, the waitress walked away and stared into her phone for 10 minutes before coming to ask for our drink order. We told her we wanted to order fully. We had to repeat our order MULTIPLE TIMES because she could not hear us over the music and we could not hear her. We asked if the music could be turned down three times and were refused. After placing our order, she came back shortly to tell us they did not have the appetizer we ordered and tried to get us to order a specific app we did not want and had no interest in. Eventually, we were served our burgers with 15 minutes left to eat and pay if we did not want to be late. When we got our food, both of our orders were wrong. My partner attempted to call out to the waitress (who was on her phone again), but could not be heard over the music. I had to SHOUT "Ma'am" at the waitress standing 10 feet away to get her attention because the music was so loud. We told her the burgers were incorrect and we needed to send them back. Less than a minute afterwards, my partner's burger was brought out finally made correctly. She did not tell me until we left they had simply scraped off the condiments from the bun and she could still taste them on the burger and bun. She stopped eating after three bites. Several minutes later (and now making us late to our event), my food was brought. It was also made wrong yet again, but it was also plain now. My partner left the dinning room to take a call and to escape the noise of the music. I asked the manager lady for the bill and mentioned how they still had not made my burger as ordered. She apologized and said she would discount the tab for the troubles. The bill was not brought to the table until AFTER I had fully finished my sandwich. Neither of us were given any napkins or silverware at all, and my burger came with a sticky sauce I had to wash off in the restroom. The initial waitress brought me our bill. There was zero discount at all. I tipped incredibly low. I will never, under ANY circumstance, return to this establishment. For less than half of the price of two meals made incorrectly and lazily "fixed", I could have driven across 56th street to Burger King and gotten a burger made correctly and not have had to spend an hour being subjected to somebody's terrible rap music Spotify playlist (which included the song "My D*ck" by Mickey Avalon) being blasted so loudly that I got a headache from it. The fries were not hot and neither were the fried mushrooms or chicken nuggets. The fried mushrooms were notably and especially bad. They had super thick breading and a tiny mushroom inside. I'm sure they were bagged frozen, but the quality is beyond terrible. They don't offer any sauces unless you ask for them. The ice cream was average and it was overpriced too. It's really some of the worst food I've had in awhile and my digestive system wasn't thanking me afterward. What a waste of time and money. It was truly a regretful experience across the board.

Unless dining in a car, the seating is all outdoors, and there is plenty for a good sized crowd. It seems that the place is a hot spot for car enthusiasts as well, on Saturday evenings if I'm not mistaken. A neat, retro burger joint in downtown Greenwood!

We entered the restaurant at 11:30ish. Just starting the lunch break. We were waited on…read moreimmediately. I ordered the pub burger, 1 patty. It is a new offering and it was wonderful. My husband ordered the fish sandwich. He was not pleased. It fell apart when he started to eat it and very greasy. Not up to Culver Standards We wanted to sit at a booth. Either someone was sitting there or they had it been cleaned at least 5 tables needed attention. When our lunch was served I noticed an employee cleaning those tables and sweeping the floor. Personally I hate some sweeping the floor at the table I am using to eat lunch. But of course she came under our table brushed out anything and then the vacant tables. Yuck Will we go back. You betcha. Culver's has a different approach to burger and dairy. We like it

My chili was hearty-filled with meat and beans and topped with cheese. I added sour cream as well…read more I would definitely buy it again! Despite the restaurant being busy, I was able to get my food quickly. The restaurant was clean.
