Great food and root beer pricing not bad you we I'll like this drive in. Staff are friendly.

This is a situation I wished I would have just driven off and abandoned the mission. I was sorry I didn't go with my gut ( and to also save it ) regarding this one. It was a doomed and very disappointing experience from the moment I pulled into one of the drive in spots. The call buttons don't work on the menu board so you have to honk your horn to get their attention. That's highly obnoxious. They don't know where you are after you honk so they have to guess what car honked. It's ridiculous. OR, you get out of your car and walk to the opposite side of the building and order at a window. Everyone that worked there looked and acted burned out. The kitchen looked really run down and dirty. The health department might need to pay them a visit. When I got the food, it looked hastily slapped together and the only thing that was barely passable and edible was the cheeseburger and it definitely wasn't worth almost 8.00. It was a single patty. The fries were not hot and neither were the fried mushrooms or chicken nuggets. The fried mushrooms were notably and especially bad. They had super thick breading and a tiny mushroom inside. I'm sure they were bagged frozen, but the quality is beyond terrible. They don't offer any sauces unless you ask for them. The ice cream was average and it was overpriced too. It's really some of the worst food I've had in awhile and my digestive system wasn't thanking me afterward. What a waste of time and money. They host a weekly car show/cruise-in that brings a wild variety of cars from all eras. Classics, Vintage, Hot Rod, Customs, Survivors... you'll see something different every Saturday, and meet a whole lot of great people. Heck, one guy even brought a 1978 Volare station wagon, one of which I had for Driver's Ed back in the day! When it comes to food, I have to say you can expect a wait, as the place is usually super busy. But, I really enjoy their double cheese burgers, so I feel it's worth it. I've been here twice. First time they messed our order all up and they was kind of busy so I didn't say anything. Just ate there today and was excited. All for them to mess my order up again and the sandwich didn't even have what it was supposed to have . I didn't say anything because it was a waste of time and I won't be going back. Tenderloins are good. They have crinkle fries, which I think I like better (it catches ketchup better lol) and weve tried nacho with cheese and coney sauce. Coney sauce is good, a little spice but not overpowering. Weve not had anything else. But weve never had bad service. They left off some condiments one time but fixed it quickly. Went here on a Sunday. Ordered a burger (tasted really good, but too small for the bun), a hotdog, a corn dog and a chilli cheese dog. Hotdog was fine but we ordered cheese on the side, they put it on the hotdog. Went up and told them about it (should be a 1 minute fix). Told the girl after 5 minutes that I'm sure the hot dog should be up and I was afraid my messed up order was put to the end. She said it wasn't. Waited another 5 minutes and had to tell her to please check on the hot dog. Saw the lady go back and pull it right off and put it in a tray. That was frustrating. My kids said the corn dog was good. The hot dog tasted good as well. The chilli cheese dog that my wife ordered...not so much. This was such a sweet chilli, it tasted like manwhich in a can. She wasn't a fan and I thought about spitting it out. Yuck!! Like I said before, I liked the burger but the bun was huge for the burger. Tasted very yummy. Fries were typical. The Suds Drive In - American Near Me - Greenwood, Indiana

The good news is that the food was tasty and the service (lunch time) was pleasant and prompt. I arrived a little after they opened on a Saturday and was a little confused about where to park since there aren't any painted lines. They do have a section for wait service on the north side, but nobody was parked there. (The waitress said that when they are open, they do provide curb service.) So, I found a spot around the south side of the building and walked up to the "order window". There are a variety of options for burgers, dogs, and pizzas. They also have a number of ice creams, sundaes, and shakes available too! I selected the single "Suds Burger" which comes with a slice of processed cheese, shredded lettuce, dill pickle chips, and "special sauce". I also ordered the onion rings and a root beer float. The burger had really good flavor, but I did notice that the bun felt cold. A little time on the grill or even a toaster would have made a better first impression since the sandwich felt cold. The onion rings were lightly breaded and had a nice crunch in each bite. The onions were sweet and the breading stayed on the onions, not falling off like some places. The lightness of the breading kept them from being greasy and allowed the flavor of the breading to come through without overwhelming the onions. I did find the root beer float to be the most disappointing. Although the flavor was good, the presentation in a styrofoam cup with lots of that off brown foam being all that was visible was not very appealing. There also was just a single scoop of ice cream in the root beer, so it was gone well before the root beer. I think they may have mugs, but they were not chilled that early in the day. Not sure if they would have used a mug for the float or not. At the time I went, there were no car enthusiasts on site. This place is run by classic car enthusiasts and draws them in during the evening hours. So, even though there are times when you can go to check out the cars, lunch time was not one of them. I appreciated that they kept a lot of the nostalgic look and even some of the equipment from an old drive in diner. But even with the "oldies" music playing on the speakers, I didn't capture that feeling from my boyhood when going to the local drive in was a big deal. I applaud the effort, if not the result. I love to go down to the suds and see all the classics pulling in and driving by for the Saturday shows. The food is pretty good too. This past Saturday I noticed they're now serving soft serve ice cream! Woohoo!! They no longer serve pizza which is a bummer. Even a cold, rainy day couldn't ruin our first trip to the Suds. This little drive in restaurant is tucked away and is easy to miss. (it's off of Madison Avenue, just south of Main Street) But on a Saturday evening during the Summer, you can't miss the vintage cars that line Market Plz and the surrounding parking lots. The Suds is a great place to revisit the good ol days. This being our first time, we felt compelled to order pretty much everything on the menu. We sampled the tenderloin (well seasoned and nicely crispy), cheeseburger (great grill flavor), coney dog (slightly sweet chili sauce), onion rings (amazing! thick, well seasoned, and crispy), fries, shakes, and (of course) root beer. Everything was delicious and our server was very nice. I'm not sure what took us so long to try The Suds, but we will definitely be back! They offer a "Friday fish" special, so we just may have to pop in to try it. read more

Burgers = weak and flavorless Chocolate shake = looks and tastes like what a glass of half chocolate milk and half water would be. We walked down to the suds during freedom festival, we ordered a tenderloin a coney dog and a root bear float. We asked for our root beer to be made right before getting our order.. They tried giving it to us right away which we told them to remake after our order is up...they tried again to give us the same one we told them to take back and the girl turn her head and laughed uncontrollably. Second a chilli dog is what they have not a coney.. When Jack owned this place 7 years ago he took pride in this place and his food.. Not the same.. Also skip the tenderloin it was full of fat. I usually frequent this place on the weekends during the summer because of the huge car culture there and get together but I haven't really eaten there. I got a burger last weekend and it was delicious! It was commenting cooked perfectly and juicy. It didn't seem like a frozen patty at all, so I'm not sure if they use fresh beef. If you're going to see some really great cars The Suds is great! If you're going to eat you may be disappointed. The food is relatively expensive and the wait is a little long for slightly better than average food. The service is okay. The person that took our order was very pleasant, but the person that was distributing the orders acted as if she had not had a very good day. I'll assume that was what the problem was and give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Stopped by Suds Drive In for the first time Saturday with my son. It was nippy out, but we were in the mood. So glad we did! The drive in looks exactly like you'd expect a drive in to look. Curbside seervice and an outside area with some picnic tables. I ordered a couple of loaded chili dogs, my son ordered the breaded tenderloin and we both got onion rings. The tenderloin was huge and thin. Don't know whether they pound them out themselves, but my son was happy with the results. The onion rings were hand-breaded - not battered - and they were very, very good. The chili dogs were exceptional. They came in poppy seed buns, which I love, and were loaded with homemade coney sauce. The sauce was meaty and just a bit sweet - just enough. Can't tell you how much I loved those coneys. Ordering two of them plus onion rings was a mistake, though. Too much of a great thing. Next time I'll either order just one with some rings, or skip the rings and have two. Service was friendly, by the way. The Suds Drive In is about a 20 minute drive from home, but well worth the trip. read more
