My Mom brought me here for my birthday dinner since we were in town doing some shopping. It was still early in the afternoon, so we were seated right away. Waitress was friendly. Not very many people there at the time so it was quiet. Rolls came out first. They look "wilted". They were warm but kinda seemed old, hard/stale. Food came out fairly quick. Steak was very gristly. I feel like there was more gristle than meat. Salad was good. Only one tiny cherry tomato and one small slice of cucumber in the salad. Green beans were good and it was a pretty nice portion really. It felt like they were cutting corners the last three times I was there. Price increases too... same menu for the most part. Service is always good but I was disappointed with the food. I don't know if they have a new meat supplier or what has happened but I get the steak salad every time because it's the perfect amount of food for me and I can get it without cheese and croutons. And I have no worries about my allergies. Plus it is normally yummy! And perfect. I have to remind them that I want the bacon though? One server said cheese was pre-mixed with the bacon and that's why they keep forgetting it? Anyway, the steak has been chewy to the point where I don't enjoy it. Gristly I actually sent the last one back. The one before that I just set half of the steak aside after I couldn't chew it. My husband thinks I need to ask for a different cut of steak because sirloin is notoriously inconsistent cuts of meat and I just need to pay an up charge for a filet or something. Anyway, I panicked about getting a bad steak salad again last week when I was there and I ordered a burger. Who can mess up a burger I thought, right? I forgot about the bun. I think they toasted it with butter so I took it off. I still got sick though. Blast it. Why can you tell a server you are Allergic to dairy and they don't understand that butter comes from a cow!!!! I'm telling you this is my girlfriend's favorite place to meet up for girl talk so go and enjoy yourself. The atmosphere is nice. Seats are comfortable and if you linger to visit the servers are wonderful to keep filling your drink glasses. But after three bad meals in a row and getting sick after eating that burger... Montana Mikes for Lunch with my Wife's High School Grad Class of '64. My Wife ordered a cup of their Vegetable-Beef Soup and I went with one of their Premium Sides, loaded Mashed Potatos w/Cheddar Cheese & BACON. The Loaded Mashed Potatoes were pretty good and sticky - and I liked that, but the 'loaded' part was $1.49 extra for a little Cheddar Cheese and a sprinkle of Bacon Bits - this is 'Not Loaded' like one would expect. My Wife enjoyed her soup and it was just enough. They also provided everyone with Fresh Bread Baskets and Soft Butter - but the Bread seemed not to be baked enough, was really 'Dough-eee'. On June 15th we found an excellent place to stop in Greenfield, Ind. Montana Mikes Steakhouse was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. What I want to compliment the most was our server Hannah. After driving nine hours we were tired and hungry. She assisted us and was friendly and even asked for recommendations with the bartender for beer info, since I asked unusual questions about the craft beers. We wanted to talk to the manager Kristy so she knew first hand how well the ladies did to make our night truly rewarding. Montana Mike's is a decent steak and burger restaurant in Greenfield, IN. When we walked in, my husband and I both said it kind of reminds me of an upscale Ponderosa. Everyone was super friendly that we spoke with, and we received a warm welcome. The restaurant has a large, full- service bar you can dine at with several large, comfortable booths and tables with wide aisles. Lunch specials are offered Monday - Friday 11-2 pm with 6 lunch specials for $6.99 and lunch combos from $11.99. We were meeting friends from New Castle and splitting the driving distance by meeting in Greenfield. Since we arrived just before they did, our server brought a basket of their truly amazing rolls with our adult beverages. I could have eaten a basket of rolls by myself. We started with appetizers even though most of the entrees came with soup or salad. We ordered the thinly sliced, hand breaded onion rings that were tasty. Then, after finding out Bob liked stuffed mushrooms, I placed an order since neither of our spouses like stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were so creamy and delicious. I will definitely order again. I had to try the French Onion Soup, which held its own, but wasn't the best I've ever had. The menu has a wonderful variety from steaks, pork chops, ribs, chicken, seafood, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and combo meals. So many entrees sounded great, which made everyone's decisions tough. Between the four of us, we ordered the 2 bone-in pork chops with baked potato and green beans. The pork chops were semi- tender, and the baked potato and green beans were good. The second entree was the grilled Ahi Tuna Steak with wasabi butter served with a side salad and broccoli. The next two orders were exactly the same being Sirloin Beef Tips over mashed potatoes (not rice) with grilled onions, peppers, and mushroom gravy. Each of us agreed that dinner was delicious and we'd like to try other entrees. I so wanted to try the Rocky Mountain Mudslide for dessert, but I was so stuffed. Next time, hopefully, I'll leave enough room. I thought I would remember our servers' names, but I have forgotten now. She was an excellent server (5/5) who hit the ground running. She was on top of each request, friendly, used dishes were removed quickly, and she had a beautiful smile during the entire dining experience. What happened!!! We have been regulars at Montana Mike's for a few years and always loved the food and service (Santana). We moved away from area, and haven't been back in about 10 months. Tonight we met friends there and yikes, it has changed. Waiter was confused, didn't know much about the menu. Food came out wrong, he never checked back and the place was empty. The food, was so disappointing. Ribeye was fatty, and grisly. Mushrooms tasted bad. Salads had more cheese than lettuce. Pork chops were definitely past their expiration date, they tasted awful. Rolls were cold and hard. So disappointing, we always loved this place. Our friends who live in the area said they probably wouldn't return. I think next time we meet, it will be somewhere else. 12/06/2023. 7:00 pm. Chef Joseph Today is the wife birthday so I took her to Montana Mikes. She ordered a 6 oz filet mignon (wrap in bacon)/ medium well. A sweet potatoe and a salid. The steak came out medium rear and the bacon was not cooked. So I sent it back and they microwave the steak instead of putting it on the grill. Steak came out medium and melee tasting. Picture below. I ordered the 12 oz rib eye, medium with steam veggies and a salid. The steak was cooked right but it was 1\3 rd fat (see picture. Steak was not seasoned and crewy. The restaurant is very clean! The hostess was unwelcoming. She looked very unprofessional and did not smile or say hello. We were seated. The restaurant was not crowded but it took time for our waiter to come to us, explaining no one told him we were at his table. We ordered two beers on draft which tasted sour. He showed us his computer order screen to prove he did it right. We returned the beers and were not offered another drink. It took him ten minutes to bring the rolls. The salad wasn't cold and crisp. The steak was mediocre at best. The sweet potato wasn't edible. It tasted like it had been stored a very long time. The cinnamon sugar was served on the side in a little paper cup to be sprinkled on the potato. Unfortunately, it was damp and stiff. The staff shirts looked worn and a bit dirty. A camping display was creative. The tent had boxes come out of it as well as a box on the outside, which looked messy. Upon leaving, no one thanked us for coming in let alone if we enjoyed our meal. The salad was crisp and fresh - the ranch was tasty. The baked potato was cooked fine and served with enough fixings. Sadly, I found the pork chop tough, dry, and a bit salty from whatever marinade they used. My mom had a bison burger which was supposed to be cooked medium, but was definitely more on the rare side. She took half home and will cook it a tad more. She said the bbq sauce was tasty and messy... The homemade chips were served with a special sauce - she said they were good. Staff was friendly. This was our go to stop for great service and outstanding steak... Definitely need to rethink our choice next time. Orders onion rings for starter. Came out slightly warm. Several rings had globs of uncooked breading. No flavor at all, had to request chipotle ranch to add flavor to rings. Cut into mine... Completely overcooked. No pink in any part of the steak. Took ten minutes to get server back to table. Took 20 minutes to get a properly cooked steak. Had to saw through steak just to see if it was cooked correctly, it was. Tough and full of grissle but definitely mid-rare. I asked for box at this point, insisted husband eat his while it was hot.
