Honestly, I'm somewhere between a 2-star and 3-star rating for The Nail Spot & Spa. This was my first visit. I was looking for a salon closer to home than the one I normally use. I arrived on a Monday around 11:45 a.m., and the salon was very quiet. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who answered my question about the price of a shellac pedicure ($53), and I was taken back for my service right away. The nail technician was a young man. He didn't really greet me or introduce himself, he simply began the service. He seemed kind, so it wasn't a major issue, but it didn't feel especially welcoming. I chose the basic shellac pedicure, and one thing I found odd was that he never offered to turn on the massage chair. I didn't think to do it myself, but it's something I've come to expect during a pedicure. He asked if I wanted my toenails trimmed, and I said yes. Unfortunately, he cut my right big toenail much shorter than I wanted, and it ended up slightly crooked. The entire pedicure also felt extremely rushed. Even with me changing my polish color after he painted the first nail because I didn't like it, the service was over very quickly. He was gracious about letting me choose another color, which I appreciated. My biggest disappointment was the overall quality of the polish application. It's hard to explain, but his technique was very different from what I'm used to, and I just wasn't happy with the finished result. When I went to pay, the gentleman at the front asked how everything was. I mentioned that I wasn't pleased because my toenail had been cut too short and a little crooked. He looked at it briefly, said something to the technician in another language, and then immediately changed the subject by pointing to my fingernails and saying, "Next time come back, we can do a refill. Time for a refill." That response surprised me because my concern about the pedicure was never really acknowledged or addressed. I simply smiled, paid, and left. I stood there thinking, "Sir, I won't be coming back". Overall, everyone I interacted with was polite and friendly, which is why I'm torn between giving two or three stars. However, the rushed service, the uneven toenail cut, the polish application, and the way my concern was handled left me disappointed. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Service was great. I've got seated with somebody automatically. They also have drinks and candy. The restrooms and seats were clean. The ladies in there were very nice and respectful. Do not visit the nail spot. Went in simply for a color change with shellac and came out with thinly shaven ansd weak nails underneath. I asked the lady repeatedly not to shave my nails down, but she disregarded me and did what she wanted. She was pissed because she wasnt going to make the $100+ off of my visit. She destroyed my real nails and caused immediate breakage of the tip the very next day. So i returned to show what happened and get the nail repaired and another barely English speaking woman repaired it and they both were pissed again because they couldn't price gauge me. Then she becomes rude because i showed how my nails were destroyed by them. Never will I use them again. Bad attitudes and rudeness cant have my money. read more

Looking at the reviews I was nervous to see how many people have been nicked during their service so I went in on guard but thankfully I had no issues there. The customer service wasn't rude but definitely stale, the aesthetics of the place are nothing to brag about and my pedicure was a bit sloppy. The tech didn't clean up the stray polish left on the skin after polishing my toes and the color doesn't come all the way to the sides of the nail. This place is amazing, always consistently excellent customer service, top notch nail techs, clean... I've never been to a better nail salon, and the prices are still competitive. Bianca is fantastic. I brought my 4-year-old daughter with me and Bianca made sure to set me up in a pedi chair next to one of the kids pedi chairs (yes, they have special pedi chairs just for kids!), so Maddy could sit next to me. Bianca also walked my daughter to the bathroom since I was in the middle of getting my pedi done, and even graciously helped clean up a small mess she made. I highly recommend her. Also, and I don't mean for this to come off as uncouth, but Bianca is a native English speaker. Sometimes I have a tough time trying to explain exactly what I want with my nails to techs at some salons, so it just made it so much easier because I could communicate with her (many of the techs there speak excellent English), and she is also very knowledgeable. The front desk manager lady is always there, she walks around and makes sure everything is running smoothly. So let me start off with the place is beautiful, and that my nail tech was amazing... BUT the receptionist is AWFUL. My friend and I came on a Sunday right when they opened. The receptionist asked what we came in for we told her and she said for us to look at colors so that's what my friend and I did. While we were waiting a few other people came in. They were greeted right away and offered drinks (my friend and I were not greeted right away or offered drinks at any point of our visit. We were second in line, the receptionist let multiple people in front of us even though we had been waiting longer than them and these other people did not have appointments either. I am so disappointed in this place. I've been coming here for years despite the many options that have recently been built in our area. The last few times I've been I e had horrible customer service. I did my nails less than a week ago and within 2 days my nails were chipping. When I came in to get them fixed, I had to wait over 30 min for them to find out who did my nails before they could fix them. Maybe I'm crazy but I thought if you mess up on someone's nails you do everything to keep them as a customer, not make them wait almost an hour just to fix a mistake you made....it wasn't a surprise that while I was waiting another person walked in with a broken nail (which she said was the second one that week). Today was my second time at this nail spa. The first time I went I was serviced by DEE, and she was excellent. I will say that my nails be in bad shape every time I take them off and have to get a new set because I am a nail biter. Well today I went and was told that Dee was on vacation. I specifically told the guy at the counter that I was picky and to give me someone that was good with pedicures and nails. The lady that did my pedicure was awful. I told her and Mary that I needed my two big toes refilled and the lady said no because she filed them down really good. It pisses me off when I tell people what I want, and they do what they want. What they don't know about me is that I pay for what I want, no matter the cost. If I say I want whatever pertaining to service.....DO IT! Anyway, Mary had to leave to pick up her son and she had someone else to finish. The lady she asked to finish my nail straight f**ked them up. She almost filed all the nail away. Then she was talking about me, and I know it because all the ladies were looking at me laughing. That was very unprofessional. When I go back if Dee isn't available nobody else will touch me. I know it's not healthy for your nails but again I didn't have time to get them soaked off....But I did receive a message from the nail spot apologizing and explaining that some nail beds are oilier than most and can cause lifting! Hmmm didn't know that, it's never happens before but there's a first for everythinthey offered to repaint all 10 of my nails and I could schedule when I have time to come in and get them re done! My kids got a mani and pedi and they increased the children's price by $7. After the kids services were done they were giving a lollipop that had ants in it!! They expected me to act a certain way I can tell because I'm a plus size brown skin woman I spoke with 4 people To see if my balance of $153 could be amended due to my pedicure being half assed and ants in the lollipop and they didn't make any adjustments to a ill experience. I've been coming here since I moved to the area in 2012. And since moving to Baytown, I have still come over here. I like the cleanness, style and service of the salon. Over the years they have changed nail techs, which is apart of the business. Today when visiting the service was not as consistent as usual; I wasn't offered a drink and when she put my sandals back on my shoes and the bottom of my feet were still wet, which could have caused me to skip. However, we booked an appointment for 9 a.m. When I called to reschedule the appointment some guy answered the phone, was extremely rude, then HUNG UP IN MY FACE! When I called back to ask for the owner, he said she wasn't there and he was the only one working ( DEFINATELY NOT TRUE). They couldn't get the power color right, the whole shape of the nails were off and right when i was going to go pay i let the owner know what they looked too thick and he agreed so i was there for an extra 30 min to file down each nail to fix her mistake.
