Guys, you NEED to stop going to your current salon and GO HERE! It's a little pricier but Lucy and (I'm so sorry I forgot the other woman's name) were absolutely amazing! I got a full set (left hand short and right hand long because I'm a guitar player) and one of their amazing pedicures with gel toes. They trimmed my cuticles, which no one EVER does, before refilling my lifted set done by another shop. My feet were completely scrubbed clean. This place is a gem! The best nail experience I've ever had. I live near a bunch of nail shops, I'm talking about two within 5 min walks... But I wanted a better experience: excellent customer service, decent prices, clean and relaxing atmosphere, good work on my nails, good location, etc. This place has it all, they went above and beyond!! So here's how my first and only experience occurred: I called for a 2 pm appt at 1:20 pm. At 1:35 pm Ken (owner) calls me to ask if I can come at 2:15 instead because someone upgraded. So considerate! This allowed me to run more errands to kill time instead of arriving too early and having to sit around waiting. I arrived on time and they took me right away. I was offered a complimentary drink (This includes sodas, teas and wine) but I already had one from Starbucks. This is a plus! Sure, some salons offer water, but this place had a good variety! Two ladies (customers), who came together, were having a girls' day it seems and one had wine. They shared one nail technician since Ken was anticipating my appointment. Most nail salons would've treated this like a factory and rushed the service for those two ladies so that they could have as many customers as possible. The ladies didn't seem to mind and were just relaxed! My technicians, Lisa for nails and Kim for waxing, were both great! Both made great conversation and ensured I was comfortable. I was satisfied with both my nails and eyebrow waxing. Also, I felt this place was very clean and practiced proper sanitation and hand washing habits (Ken please make sure everyone keeps that up and washes hands often especially during this epidemic!). I chose this place specifically on that day because it looked to be the cleanest. I stopped by another nail shop before coming here but the outside already swayed me. I love that doors were kept open in the front and back despite the cool wind to keep fresh air coming and going (especially during this epidemic!). I can't stress all that enough because we're headed for tough times and I'd love to see this shop succeed and flourish! Parking seems plenty though could by hit or miss as there are other businesses (worst case park a bit far).. Prices are perfect and on par (not too expensive at all)! I can't complain about anything when it comes to this shop. Here you'll get a great experience where you aren't rushed and you aren't just "dollar signs" to the employees. During my last visit in November 2022, the new management told me they would still honor a gift certificate that my husband purchased for me before they changed management. However, when I called to schedule an appt recently, the new owner said they would no longer accept the gift certificate because they were no longer in contact with the previous owner. The owners of this salon are unkind and very unprofessional in their behavior. They have an ego problem and laugh at you and complain about you in their language. It's very clear that they are speaking about you. I looked past that, hey I was just there to get my nails done. I left my apple ear-pods on the counter yesterday on the table where I was getting my nails done by "May". I called them first thing this morning and reached "Kelly" the owner on the phone. I explained to her that my ear-pods were left behind and to please check with her employees to see if anyone had seen them. She did not even attempt to check with them. Kelly immediately starting getting angry and saying that they wouldn't take my stuff. I did not blame them. I was only asking that she check in with her staff. I also asked her if any customers had sat at the same table after me and she began yelling saying that she would not ask all her customers (which I never requested), keep in mind that this is the OWNER YELLING AT ME about me trying to locate an item. I am their customer! My expectations of normal respectful business behavior were not met. Even after her burst of anger on the phone, I simply asked her to call me if she had found them. Then she went on yelling at me even louder saying she wouldn't take them and that Im blaming them. Again, I was not blaming, she was yelling over my voice completely. Makes zero sense why an OWNER would behave that way. Seemed like she was pretending to be extra mad and not hear me? Then her "husband" calls me screaming at me even louder saying that I'm blaming them and I was just trying to say the same thing to him as I had said to her but this man would not even listen, he is the OWNER supposedly and refused to give me his name when asked. I felt so disrespected. This business "The Nails Workshop" on (9932 Mercy Rd, San Diego) lacks integrity. The nail job was ok, nothing to write home about, all the nails are different shapes!Disrespectful staff and disrespectful owner- thats the worst part of this place. I have gone in twice for a mani/pedi both visits- I have never felt more calm and at peace in a nail salon.
