We dined at Nautilus in September outdoors during COVID. Our server was very warm and friendly, tables were spaced out and all staff had masks on, and all of our food was beautifully presented with a lot of finesse, perfectly seasoned, and cooked precisely to the correct temperatures. The wine selection was robust and I was pleased to see how many grape varietals they had represented by the glass. We had the Cabernet Sauvignon and it had great structure and showed beautifully. Our favorites were the steak entree, oyster tacos (AMAZING), and the tuna appetizer. Highly recommend for a fun and delicious evening when on island! read more

Overall, we had a good dinner here. They were running a bit behind when we arrived, but they covered a couple of drinks at the bar while we waited. The atmosphere was fun, a little loud just because they were so busy, and very lively. We ordered a few different dishes: the lobster tacos and pork buns were incredible. I could have ordered them twice! The dipping sauce with the scallion pancake tasted like just oil and nothing else, not very appetizing, and honestly the lobster noodles were disappointing. We stopped in here after getting off the late ferry. They were really accomodating and took our luggage for us, so we could sit at the bar. It was super crowded but the service was fast and friendly. The drinks are good but expensive. Yes, it's Nantucket. Still. Pricey. This is listed as a "small plates" place, but it's not really. The plates are huge! I understood the pricing a bit more when I saw the size of them, but I was hoping for more of a tapas style experience. We had the seasonal salad, and it was just ok. It looked really pretty, but the flavors didn't mix quite right. The calamari has a great texture, but is in a giant weird pile of things with a thai-style sauce. It's an interesting fusion, but overall I think it detracts from the calamari experience rather than adding to it. Was on Nantucket for a week and this was a very memorable meal. A smaller intimate place excellent for craft cocktails and delicately made small plates. They have a few larger plates good to share with big groups. Every plate blew us away the the waiters were very helpful. Highly recommend the blackout Barbie if you love tequila. it's a cute and contemporary fusion asian cuisine in the heart of nantucket, came a week before memorial day weekend on a weekend, was still able to get seated without much wait, ordered lamb chop and half lobster singaporian noodle, I have to say I love lamb chop, perfectly cooked and deliciously marinated, char outside and tender meat! singaporian noodle did not delivered, it was overtly salty and soggy, stingy portion for $37, it didn't please my palate at all! they have some funny/creative cocktails as well, I ordered clinton's lost loves, bourbon and ginger based, and nantucket nectar which was rum based, again overtly on the sweeter side. tables inside has sheer dividers between tables, and there are plenty of tables outside on the block right outside the restaurant but the seats aren't the most comfortable ones. overall I like the menu and friendly service! read more

This has always been one of our favorite places to go. I'm not sure if it's under new ownership but quality has deteriorated significantly of late. Our food was under seasoned and took 45 minutes to come. The drinks lacked flavor and service was very inconsistent. I will try again next year and it lives up to our previous meals. read more

Food is excellent, mixed report on the vibe. We had a 9:30 Rez on Friday night. Seated late, rushed to order, and generally a staff that was indifferent - in a " you are lucky you are here" way. But beware - small, jammed in and a room with six major speakers and a large sub woofer cranked such that you can not hear the folks you went to dine with. Clocked in at 95-120 db. Maybe the staff is indifferent because they are suffering from cumulative hearing loss. And hoping for an OSHA visit . How much better this would all be if you could enjoy the excellent food and the company you are with? read more

We went for my birthday last year and it was such an amazing experience. It was really hard to get a reservation and you really have to set an alarm and be ready on Resy as soon as reservations open. This is what we did and got a prime time for Saturday night. The experience did not disappoint. Food was so good and we had the best sake. They ran out of an item and to make up for it, they gave us additional sake on the house. They went out of their way to make my birthday special in the middle of covid. We tried very hard for this reservation and we're so excited to eat here again. Unfortunately, this time the entities experience fell short. Hostess:rude, waitress:sweet and attentive, food: minus mediocre, very underwhelming. While I don't like to send anything back at a meal out, some dishes definitely deserved to be taken back for lack of flavor. The dishes that were edible were mediocre at best. I know about food and I think the cooks are taking their great reviews for granted because honestly it was the worst experience Ive ever had. My boyfriend doesn't eat seafood so we didnt have the small plates. He got the Pork noodle plate. It was honestly past its expiration date and its unreal that they would serve this. What can I say, I can't stay away. Every time I'm on island the Nautilus is my #1 spot. Regardless of the line in the summer, it's worth it. Dan dan noodles, tuna poke and calamari are my favorites - beyond fresh and the dan dan noodles are as authentic as it gets with the perfect amount of heat. I already can't wait to come back. Got the blue crab fried rice and it was really good! Do recommend as that was the only dish I got. Prices are a little steep though, $33 for rice mixed in with crabs? Haha. Got here at 5:30 and it filled up pretty quickly (the bar seats especially) for some reason most of the tables were reserved and I was unsure why that was the case...but I guess they do take reservations in some way shape or form? Two thumbs up for creativity! Their oyster tacos are the work of a culinary genius - not to be missed. They're bite-sized and come in four pieces, so they're easily shared with another person. I remember trying my first piece and thinking, the flavors of each ingredient blended so well together that it created a unique taste as one. We also tried the green curry lobster, which was perfectly portioned as a "Large Plate" to share, once again. The lobster meat was fantastic - probably because it's Nantucket and seafood is generally fresh and of high quality. The third dish we tasted was the red curry Manila clams; they listed this as a "Small Plate" but this plate was actually more filling than the lobster. The touch of naan bread to go with clams was a new and enjoyable experience. We sat down at the chef's bar but, unfortunately, because they had stacked up their ceramic bowls on the bar, we couldn't really see what was going on in the kitchen. Delighted by the cuisine. Scallion pancakes were perfect. I would've liked a little spice with the dipping sauce but the pancake was so consistent it didn't matter. I got the wagyu steak more of a function of needing red meat after a long time of going without. Often times I'm disappointed by places that don't specialize in steaks. Oh man, this was outstanding. My favorite spot on the island as of now. Yummy AF, to be honest. We didn't make a reservation and were convinced that we would be turned away. However, they had stools at the bar in the back that (sort of) overlooks the kitchen. We aren't picky, so we went for it. I've never been so impressed by a Chef before. For a small plates restaurant, timing is everything. Getting all the dishes at once...not so awesome. Getting them too far between...also not so awesome. The kitchen was running flawlessly at The Nautilus. The Chef was interesting to watch as he called tickets and fired dishes; multi-tasking effortlessly. To the food! We ordered the scallion pancake, bbq pork riblets, yellowfin tuna lettuce wraps and steamed pork buns. It doesn't sound like a lot but we left very happy. Everything was so fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The steamed pork buns are the stuff dreams are made of. The dipping sauce for the scallion pancake...wanted to lick the bowl. So. I was a little apprehensive about coming to this restaurant. The Inn that we were staying at had recommended it and made reservations for us. After all, I'm in an area that I would think would be all about the fish. This is an Asian theme. You do need to make reservations. This is a small space. We waded up to the bar to get a cocktail while waiting for our table. We didn't have too long of a wait. We scanned the menu and there were several items we wanted to try. Small plates but pricey. Remember you're on an island and everything has to be brought in. We decided to share the pork and shrimp wontons. Delicious little pockets in a spicy Szechuan sauce. Next we tried the oyster tacos. The taco shell was a nori wrap. They were outstanding. Round three. A fellow Yelper had written how great the blue crab fried rice was. John ordered that and I ordered the Hawaiian tuna poke. His fried rice was wonderful with an egg on top. The fried rice had hunks of crab meat in it. My tuna poke was also fabulous. It came with sushi rice and seaweed. While we were eating, the table next to us had ordered one of their feasts for the table. A whole Peking duck with steamed buns and different sauces. Part of the duck was shredded and part of it was in slices. It looked beautiful. Oh we couldn't possibly eat dessert. We took the bait and got their special dessert for the evening. It is my understanding that they only make one dessert for that night. I believe it was mango salsa over a type of creme brûlée. Fantastic. Our server was great but not intrusive. Soon after the entree showed up and all was forgiven. My forever roommate and I were in a rush to get home, so opted out of dessert and asked for the check. However one of our small plates was still on the way?? Unfortunately I can't get past the stifling heat. It is so hot in there. There was only one ac over the bar which clearly won't cut it. Despite a relatively cool evening it was hot as hades in here. No windows except for the door. Food was actually fantastic which is why it gets two stars but my bill for five would probably pay for an extra air conditioning unit or two. Hopefully they fix the issues but until then stay away. read more

Nautilus is fusion food done right. It's defintley a special occasion restaurant, as it's difficult to get a reservation and prices are pretty steep. It's tapas style so you're goign ot need to order a lot of little plates, but they have a few main course size dishes. The roasted duck is delicious and worth the money. The cocktails are also really delicious and inventive. There's somethign for everyone here. Last summer 2020, they created a beautiful outdoor atmosphere to be COVID safe. I would rate Nautilus 6 stars if I could. Wasn't even sure we'd be able to dine here while on the island for a few days since I heard getting ressies can be challenging. We got there before they opened & beelined for the bar. The entire menu looked incredible but my friend & I finally decided to split the calamari, grilled pork riblets & blue crab fried rice. OMG the calamari, it was like no other calamari I've ever had, absolutely mind blowing combination of fresh flavors. That was my favorite dish of the whole trip & we ate really well. I wanted the whole plate to myself. The fried rice & riblets were also outstanding. And our bartender was fantastic. Cocktails were really inventive & strong.
