Absolutely love what they do for the creative community here in Fullerton. They offer a great variety of events and open mic nights that welcome artists of all skill levels, which makes the space feel inclusive and inspiring. The coffee, teas, and treats are all delicious, and the staff truly stand out. They're friendly, supportive, and have become real hometown heroes for everything they contribute to the community. The service is consistently excellent. The café itself is cozy, warm, and has that classic mom-and-pop charm that makes you want to stay awhile. Be sure to check out their open mic nights for poetry, music, and all kinds of creative expression, it's definitely a special spot. I just LOVE coming here!!! If I could just change ONE thing... it would be their hours! I wish they stayed open later... Other than that I just love it here!
Great inviting vibe, from the mismatched old wooden furniture to the vintage lighting, to the setup for open mic night. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered an ice honeybee latte from the special menu with whole milk. Very refreshing and just the right level of sweetness. They have pastries from Homeboy Bakery. They looked fantastic but I wasn't hungry, having just eaten recently. Next time! We sat at the table for two at the front window which had perfect natural lighting to read. Fun people watching there too.
This coffee shop is such a vibe! I love it. It's got a naturally dark and spooky ambiance. It's still very trendy. The coffee drinks are fun. They have such unique coffee flavors! The banana bread latte tastes EXACTLY like banana bread. It's wild to be honest!! If you love banana bread, this is it! Order this one! You will love it. I also tried the iced pumpkin spice latte. It was very strong on the coffee flavor, and not nearly enough pumpkin or spice. lol I wanted more sugar and flavor in this drink. They also have some baked good. I haven't been able to try then out just yet. I want to though! They look really good. For some reason, I come here not hungry lol Usually just looking for some coffee haha Service is always great. The cashier/ barista was very friendly and down to earth. Love that!
This is a cozy, old-school coffee shop. The interior is dark and relaxing, with sunlight streaming in through the windows and spotlighting the owl figures on the windowsill. There are a good number of indoor tables and seats, as well as some outdoor seating. The samoa latte (if I recall the name correctly) was delicious. It was a nice sweet treat with a good level of chocolate flavor to tongue. The barista who helped us was super friendly! We felt very welcomed from beginning to end. It is also amazing that this spot apparently hosts open mic events! We were told that they love supporting the local community and music scene that way. We're looking forward to returning for that as well.
The service was amazing and so so sweet. I arrived earlier than when they open at 9 am - online it says 8 am but the owner let me in because of my doggy Luna (Dogs are also allowed inside)! They do a lot of music or live events (posters/flyers were everywhere) and the ambiance was so awesome! I ordered a Banana Bread Latte with soy milk and a cinnamon roll, and both were so good. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick trip, a study session or for any live events they have. Thank you again Joe!
EXCEPTIONAL! I just started teaching at FCC and enjoy learning about the community I'm in so I asked one of my students who shared they love coffee what his go to place was and he sent me here! This recommendation is definitely earning him an "A" ;) (jk, jk). I've stopped by twice and have not been disappointed. The Night Owl is small but this doesn't take away from how inviting it is, in fact I think it's inviting in how cozy it seems. I had the maple iced coffee on one visit and the banana nut latte on another. Oh, I also treated myself to one of their chocolate chip cookies (not warmed up) and it took me back to the cookies I used to buy in high school from the cafeteria! So damn good! And the service! The same person has taken my order both times and he is sooo friendly, so personable. I haven't worked through my awkwardness yet so it's on me that I didn't get his name, I will on another visit. I like my drink with some flavor but not sugary and both time that I've asked for "light syrup" he's said "our espresso is so great I try to balance that out" and you know what, he is a master at his craft! I'm looking forward to many more visits for the rest of the semester!
I Waited over 30 minutes for this, and it was a complete waste of time and money. The "green tea latte" tasted like watered-down milk with a green tea bag! Absolutely no matcha flavor, and the color was completely off. I don't understand how they're selling this as a matcha latte when there's clearly no matcha in it. Very disappointing! Definitely would not recommend this place!
Came here for a pick me up on 4th of July. The person helping me was very patient and sweet as I kept asking about the milk calories. I got the banana latte and my bf got a mocha. I did like mine it was very strong and it did the job, I asked for it half sweetened. The place was so cute they have live music and book clubs. Very cute place.
We stopped in Night Owl for the first time for some of their unique latte flavors. I tried the spiced maple latte and , while it was good, I wish the flavoring was stronger. Staff were extremely friendly! I was greeted within seconds of walking in the door and had my drink in hand a few minutes later. The owl theming is very fun, with lots of hand drawn owls and kitschy owly tchotchkes. I saw that they have a small back area for outdoor seating (with dogs!) available.
Great coffee venue near Cal State Fullerton and other local schools. We came here for a coffee run and stayed to enjoy the music. It seems like a great spot for students to study, as there were many in groups and also singles with their laptops out and coffees at hand. They have live music on occasions and post about the upcoming shows regularly. We will be back to enjoy the coffee and listen to some local bands play.
The service was the best part about my visit here. The staff was so lovely and accommodating, and overall really helpful in working through the menu. The Spanish latte was just okay but not particularly tasty and a bit forgettable. The coffee cake was really nice though! The space is more niche decorated and maybe just not for me, but they do have a lot of community-building events that I may check out. The outdoor space is nice and not too loud.
10/10 service, great place place to study, kinda crazy prices I went here about a week ago with a friend who's a regular who loves this place. I got one of her favorites (sex by the peach lol) which was honestly pretty sweet, even for a tea/lemonade drink. Wasn't a huge fan, felt a bit ordinary for the price. But today my friend and I wanted to get some writing done and this is her favorite coffee shop in the area to work. I decided to get the iced regular size Caramel Apple Chai because I was looking for something without coffee with cinnamon. I'm allergic to diary so I got soy milk as an alternative which was an extra 65 cents (very reasonably priced compared to other cafes). Without tip, my total came to $9.03. If I didn't have a milk alternative, my total would've been $8.38. I think the barista noticed my slightly shocked expression at my $9+ drink and apologizing explained that it was because of the tariffs which made a bit more sense. I was REALLY hoping the drink was amazing (because for almost $10 I hope it's the best latte ever lol) and this drink did not disappoint! I was a little worried about my soy milk alternative, but this drink was kinda perfect. It had a good mix of apple and caramel flavors. It tasted like fall! Not too sweet, not too much ice. I don't know if I can normally justify a $10 drink, but this one might be it. The customer service was also excellent. My friend and I worked at one of the tables for a few hours and the barista at the front (Mal) knew multiple returning customers by name and chatted with all of them. It was extremely windy and the door kept flying open, but Mal handled it very well. The customer service here was incredibly personal and made it a great environment to work, write, and study. There was also outlets to use where I could plug in my laptop. Will definitely be returning with my friend.
Came across this place by strolling downtown Fullerton with some friends. We stopped to grab a cup of Joe and couple of desserts. I don't know if the day (friday nite) or time ( 9pm) it was just not a good nite or what? but the dessert choices were very slim (kind of disappointing) a coffeehouse/shop should always have plenty of choices of dessert/pastry. I think we got the last pastry available. Place had a Bohemian vibe. lots of interesting art on the walls. a lot conversation pieces on the wall and around the place. saw few people on their laptop. kind of quiet little place. Patio access was a cool ( I bet its pretty crowed in the summer.) If you are into owls, you will find them here.. on the walls, bathroom, mural, as part of the decor...! cool place to hang out and have a cup of coffee! read more

No Wifi for months. You can tell that the owner doesn't want you around for a long time and not buying stuff. Here is my recommendation, set up a limited time Wi-Fi and have you need to purchase stuff every 2 hours or the Wi-Fi drops. It is a win win. They make money we get the Wi-Fi that literally every person asks for when going to a coffee shop. read more
THE NIGHT OWL is ideally located here on Harbor Blvd near the high school, Fullerton College and CSUF down the street some more. Each chair has a table in front of it, welcoming you to sit, study, read and/or hang out with your friends (or family, if you're into that sort of thing LOL. JK of course!) They even don't mind if you stay a while. Just make sure you support your local business and actually get up and order something a few hours or so. Try their ICED LATTE. It is so strong, it will definitely keep your mind awake for that term paper you're trying to crank out last minute. I also noticed that there's a small stage/podium for a musician towards the back corner. Nice! I can't wait to come back on a weekend night to come check out who they invited here. read more

Very calm quiet place by day, live music and fun by night. Great place to come study, draw, or just relax. I'm a coffee addict so I knew I needed to try this location. Had the barista surprise me with a popular drink, and it is amazing! Might be coming back tonight for the live music and to try another drink! read more

I'm rating this place 5/5 again. It's so good and the service is phenomenal. They made us our drink and we found that that Blueberry Muffin Latte is cold and they happily remade it for us as a hot drink. They are so nice and treated us so well! For the record, I recommend the Lavender London Fog and the Blueberry Muffin Latte as a hot drink! The cold lacks the richness in flavor! read more

The Night Owl was my go-to coffee spot in Downtown Fullerton during my college years at CSUF, and continues to bring me warm fuzzies with each visit. Since I often work from cafes, I typically judge a coffee shop by both their drinks and the overall vibe - lucky for me, the Night Owl receives a 5/5 in both categories. The menu is endless with quirky latte flavors such as Nutella, honey, and hazelnut. They also serve a variety of teas that can be brewed in five minutes. I'm personally a fan of the tropical tea, which is absolutely perfect with a touch of sweetener. Inside there is a variety of comfy seating options, rustic decor, local artwork, and often live music playing. There is plenty of wall outlets, and free WiFi throughout the shop. This coffee spot also has a decent patio if you're looking to sit a larger study group or just get some fresh air. Unlike most of Downtown Fullerton, the Night Owl has plenty of free parking, with both a large lot in the back and a nearby parking structure. Definitely a convenient place to study or to grab your next caffeine fix! read more

There are so many coffee shops in DTF and I keep coming back to this one just to try the seasonal drinks (and the live music when available). Coffee quality and service is definitely not the best, especially compared to the nearby coffee shops. read more
Came here on an early Sunday evening. They were finishing up on several people's orders and they left. The staff were nice and welcoming. The restroom is available for customers to use, but you need a code. I liked that people drew their own versions of an owl and they posted them on the back wall. I ordered a hot 12oz matcha latte with oat milk and an extra scoop of matcha. I like my teas bitter and wasn't sure if the oat milk was sweet or the barista put sweetener in it. I was not a fan of the drink. I could barely taste the matcha. I think if I come here next time, I will either get something else or try a different milk alternative. read more

Place is small and cozy, but don't let that deter you from going in because there is outside seating in the back. Parking is limited in the back, but there is plenty of parking across the street and there is a nearby parking structure as well. Staff was very friendly and offered great recommendations. Dog friendly as well. There was a band playing in the corner of the shop, music wasn't too loud so conversations can still take place. I forgot what kind of coffee the barista recommended for me, but it was delicious and went really well with my coffee cake. Definitely worth returning to try the rest of the menu! read more

The Night Owl is my comfort place when I need to go out to clear my head. I love that this homely corner cafe is open so late, and the workers are chill so they don't mind how late the customers stay. I got my regular Blueberry Muffin Latte which actually tastes like the muffin itself, 100% magic. My friend and I had a chance to watch the live performers at the patio around 8pm Saturday. This cafe definitely put an easy going ending to our weekend. read more

Such a cute coffee spot. I wished I lived closer since I really enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere of this place. I walked in and instantly loved it, from the art on the walls, to the atmosphere, to the friendly barista. This place is made of your coffee dreams! Mismatched furniture just added to the charm of this place. I ordered the white chocolate / lavender latte. It was perfectly made. I'm not a big fan of white chocolate but the way it was made was perfectly balanced with that lavender flavor. Not overwhelming at all. The temperature was perfect as well. The honey ordered a cappuccino with coconut milk, and he enjoyed it. Not an easy feat since he is very picky and every single thing. Service was great. Warm and friendly. Parking was Street. We didn't had an issue when we went. I really am looking forward to visiting this place again, next time I am enjoying my coffee (and sweets) in House instead of taking it to go! read more

It was Jazz night at the night owl and we stopped by to buy some drinks and listen to music. The atmosphere was pleasant but unfortunately the barista was so unfriendly and rude, made us want to leave right away. There were two female baristas working tonight, the one with blonde hair needs some customer service training. My iced latte was okay but my friend's drink leaked and ruined the clothes & car. I attached the picture for reference. I've been coming to this adorable coffee shop since I was a kid in college. Never had this bad experience for years until today. So disappointed. read more

The night owl is so much more than just a cafe. It's a gathering place, study spot, reading room, and on some nights, a live music venue for all sorts of genres and spoken word. With proud local art price that line the walls, the inside has the most comfortable, relaxed vibe of anywhere in Orange County. The drinks are fully customizable, and feature almond, soy, or, and hemp milks to accompany their rich selection of flavored lattes. Staff is always friendly, welcoming, and creative enough to occasionally come up with their own lattes. While the space is limited indoors, they have a beautiful patio away from the noise of Main Street to kick back and enjoy a drink. read more

AWESOME SPOT! I came in with a need for a simple coffee on a Saturday and was blessed with the introduction to this place by chance. Marciel is a phenomenal barista. He genuinely cares about the creativity, production, and comfort of coffee culture. The love he puts into this job is evident with his high knowledge and passion for a good cup of Joe. Thank you Marciel!! I got the coconut caramel (secret menu item). He added an oat milk based cream for the fun of it and made all the right recommendations for my future visits to this cute community spot. Great job Night Owel!! Do they have open mic for music? If so how does it work?
yes! you can get info on their instagram (they post everyday) @thenightowlfullerton usually they'll have music open mic nights on tuesdays at 7pm. sign ups begin at 6:30pm.
Would they allow a teenager to do stand up comedy or do you have to be over 18?
The venue is PG rated, and underage performers are welcome.
What are your hours? Your website says you're open until midnight, and I'm not sure if that was Pre-Covid.
They're open until 10 every night. Music now most nights, different genres each day of the week, starting between 5 and 7, goes until 10.
Is this a good place to study?
Yes. Maybe not on music nights which is usually on Tuesday nights at 7
Could you accommodate a party of like 7-10 people?
