The hours are inconsistent and the coffee isn't very good anymore. I once loved this spot. I used to be a loyal regular here (3-7x a week for years) and the longer I went, the more I noticed the dip in quality, service, and the more baristas/mangers I saw come and go. I got acquainted with some baristas at various points in time what I learned just confirmed the vibe I had already picked up from this place in general & Joe (owner). Joe seems to like to raise his voice, embarrass and belittle young women (women of color in particular) that work for him. I've seen him be rude to customers and his employees. There's clearly a pattern and I'd much rather spend my money elsewhere. Oh since he gets so personally offended with anyone bringing in any food drink or even trash to throw away from surrounding restaurants... I definitely recommend neighboring coffee shops such as Made, Dripp, smoking tiger, etc for An overall much friendlier vibe with better tasting coffee and lattes! read more

AWESOME SPOT! I came in with a need for a simple coffee on a Saturday and was blessed with the introduction to this place by chance. Marciel is a phenomenal barista. He genuinely cares about the creativity, production, and comfort of coffee culture. The love he puts into this job is evident with his high knowledge and passion for a good cup of Joe. Thank you Marciel!! I got the coconut caramel (secret menu item). Why have i never heard of this place? Their lattes are so good! I got the pumpkin pie latte and my husband got the pirate punch (which is alcohol). It was kinda embarrassing because our cards weren't being read (it eventually got settled, funny enough with the original card). I need to come back! The owner, or just a cool guy there, was so kind and so sweet. Very understanding and the vibe there with all the owls was so nice and zen. Very relaxing and they have live jazz nights. Definitely want to go to one, my husband is even thinking of bringing magic the gathering there. Super excited to be back and just read a good book. I came here for a study group and due to the great reviews. I do not recommend studying here unless you don't need WiFi, because they do not have it. It's a very cozy place to read a book or catch up with friends with indoor and outdoor seating. I don't remember what I ordered because I asked for exactly what my friend asked for, which was followed by a lecture on how a macchiato is not a real drink. I'm not a coffee connoisseur or an expert. I usually get a latte or "macchiato" to keep things simple for myself. This place is a little bit of a mixed bag, but could be great depending on what you're looking for in a café. My roommate and I wanted a place to work that was open late. We showed up to find that the tables are set up a little strangely, there was an open mic night that was loud (we should have checked ahead of time but options are limited at night), the drinks were not the best, and homeless people come in this small space. The girls working were extremely nice and I can't fault them for anything, but overall I don't see myself heading to The Night Owl again. I went on a Thursday morning and it was fairly busy. It's the typical hipster coffee shop. Not that it's a bad thing because it features a little stage for music nights and a nice area to sit outside with cute vintage furniture. I wouldn't say it's a place for studying. The tables are so small and they recommend you to buy something every two hours and I totally understand, but I wouldn't recommend this place for studying purposes. read more

This place is part of a lot of memories for me. Since the first time I visited to play their open mic, I felt welcome like part of the family. In a time when I was really down, I felt comfortable and like I belonged here. That said, I may be a little biased, but for people like me, this is one of the best coffee houses ever. All emotions aside, what can I say about the Night Owl? Well, first off, how could you not like a place decorated with ridiculous numbers of owl trinkets, lamps, and murals? Don't love owls? What's wrong with you? Inside, it's a super cozy little place with vintage seating and tables and a chalk art menu board. Not a ton of seats but if you get there in the early afternoon, you can usually find a place to park your behind and work or study with the assistance of their free WiFi. Outside, there's a pretty large patio area with more seating around the showcase area where the music happens. The food and coffee aren't what I'd call epic but they have a good assortment of coffeehouse fare and some tasty baked goods to choose from. A toasty almond croissant is among my faves. It's worth noting that, if you're there to perform at the open mic, you'll need to buy something and show your receipt to the MC Rod (who also happens to hand make the awesome owl lamps you'll see inside). There's also free parking in a structure just around the corner if you aren't lucky enough to nab one of the few spots right next to the patio. I've never had a problem finding a place to park here. Speaking of the open mic, it's arguably one of the best in Orange County for the good side crowd it draws and the sheer variety of musicians that come through from all over. You only get one song, but if you make it count, you might just get invited to play their regular artist showcase where you get a full length set. I had the privilege of playing it before and it was really something. They have a legit sound engineer helping everyone sound their best. They even have stage lights to make you feel like a rockstar even if you're just a casual hobbyist. Whether you're a seasoned performer or a first timer, though, it's a super warm and welcoming crowd and you might even meet some people to jam with sometime. All things considered, the Night Owl is a great spot for coffee, friends, and music and a real hidden gem in old town Fullerton. It's one of my favorite places to hang and I hope it'll become one of yours too. read more

I used to love Night Owl, but the last few times I've gone the coffee just hasn't been that great. And it's so expensive. I never realized how expensive it was until recently. I got two coffees and a cheesecake and it was $20. It was kind of a disappointment because the cheesecake - which I love - seems like it was a few days old and it was still about $8-9 with no discount on it. Pretty bummed out because I really used to love this place. I'm not sure if they switched their beans but the drinks really aren't tasting as great and have just left me and other company with stomach aches. Apart from that, I still love the inside and outdoor patio area. It's lovely when they have live music and they have really neat art. Apparently the lot where you park wants you to pay now. There is still plenty of street parking though. With all the new coffee shops popping up and my latest experiences here, I'm not sure if I'll be back soon. i've loved the night owl for over 10 years now! i remember when it was open until 3am and when the lobby was full of cozy couches. the details of the lobby may have changed since then but their playlist is still spectacular and i make it a point to visit at least once a year. my favorite drink is the Yerba Nut Latte with hemp milk, it's nutty and perfect and i highly recommend it for any tea latte lovers. read more

This was the first time I had a matcha latte where sweetener wasn't automatically added and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor of the matcha. She's always up to a new coffee shop experience. After chugging down some burgers next door a caffeine fix was needed. A short hoof over and she had her iced Americano fix. Came back the other day and she had a dry cappuccino and if you like deep dark chocolate that isn't to sweet...their in house scratch made "Ding Dong". A bit pricey at $6.50 but was a nice indulgence that went well with the coffee. She also bought some of the Italian roast which is a nice earthy, woody rich brew. Done at home in the Chemix for iced coffee. Had the camera along but I didn't geat good shot to share. :( read more

I was hoping for some really good drinks because of the awesome Yelp reviews. Major pluses: hemp milk for additional 60 cents and many many syrup flavors to choose from! Iced drinks will cost more than the hot drinks (listed price on menu), and their ice cubes are cute little pebble-shapes. It's a small hipster coffee shop with limited seating. There might be some tables outside. Parking is plentiful in the back private lot. They are open late! There is only one restroom available for customers only. I got a flavored latte, which was just ok. I didn't think it was awesome. My friend got a tea latte, and the barista recommended the blueberry tea. It tasted like watered down blueberry juice and was really bad. He took it back, and this other barista was nice enough to comp that nasty blueberry stuff. She recommended the red nectar tea and with soy milk instead of hemp milk. However, this new one just tasted like straight up soy milk (and on top of that, she gave him regular size even though his original drink was large). read more
