This is my new favorite happy hour in west seattle! The staff was super friendly and beyond great!! Amazing cocktail selection!!! Lots of options for everyone!! They also had some food options that I look forward to trying next time! I had the Moscow mule AMAZING!! My friend got one with gin and st Germaine it was also very tasty!! The inside is very cozy and unique! I love fun decor! We choice the tiny patio which might be tiny but it's a great place to people watch, and we never felt forgotten out there! Let's start with the amazing... There is a lot to love about this place. It's speakeasy, without being pretentious. They have this absolutely nailed. The rough sided bar. The wall bench and tables downstairs. The comfy chairs and couches upstairs. The lamps. The wood. The fact they had Big Trouble in Little China playing on the TV upstairs. The music was amazing (I want to know the Pandora seeds used). The random antique store glassware. It was a cross between Anvil (Houston) and Knee High Stocking Company. The moment I walked in the door I wanted to fall in love with the place. And then... Unfortunately, the cocktails were a let down. We walked in and ordered a gin martini and a scofflaw. The scofflaw was off on proportions - there was too much grenadine, and not enough dry vermouth. And the martini was shaken. OK, let me just pause here for a moment to explain the fact that I grade on a curve. When I walk into a random bar/restaurant and order a gin martini I fully expect a shaken glass of cold gin. And I'm perfectly fine with it. But when I walk into a craft cocktail bar, there's a different standard. Booze cocktails are stirred, and citrus cocktails are shaken. Martinis should be stirred. We went onto round two: manhattan (my favorite cocktail) and the barrel aged sazerac. The manhattan was done with walnut bitters. The challenge with walnut bitters is they can easily dominate a cocktail, even one made with Old Overholt and Punt e Mes, which are both strong flavors. All I tasted was a warm glass of walnut. As for the sazerac, it missed the absinthe wash. While we were told it was in the barrel to make the cocktail, it just didn't work in the end. A wash is like a twist - it needs to be there at the end to have the full punch you're looking for. You wouldn't throw in a bunch of twists into a barrel and call it good - they need to be done when serving. Now, and I *need* to be clear on this point. This bar, if possible on Yelp, deserves an INC (incomplete) grade. It's new. And the two owners seem to truly have a passion for what they're doing, and a drive to be a success. And I think they can be. Everything above is fixable. A second look at the cocktail program, a couple of "return to the classics", and they've got a bar I'll be at on every night when I don't have to be up the next morning. But, for now, it unfortunately misses the mark on the cocktails. read more

I really enjoy this bar. It's a tad pricy, but that's also just true of Seattle bars in general. Lovely herbal cocktails that are perfectly balanced. Strong too, but not overwhelming. The ambience is also very nice with a speakeasy feel that has incorporated some homey touches with real books and plants. The staff is also reliably friendly, which makes for an even better evening. Been a cocktail lover for a long time and enjoy tracking down great bars and bartenders wherever I am the way foodies seek out great food. I've been waiting a long time for a decent cocktail haunt in West Seattle and finally the gents opened up the best hands down cocktail joint in all of WS. Cocktails are hot right now to say the least and while many places have gone the direction of overly fancy, borderline pretentious ($16-$20 drinks?), The Nook feels like a throwback with a casual atmosphere and a focus on some genuinely astonishing drinks (the smokey old fashioned, when time allows, is a delight). Love, love, LOVE this place. Went for the first time last night and will be back soon and frequently. The place was packed and the staff was having a really great time and did a good job of serving everyone as quickly as possible. I even asked for a special drink not listed on the menu, and the bartender was excited to try the recipe (sometimes ordering off the menu is frowned upon at bars). You can really tell these guys are passionate about their craft and enjoy what they do. I would recommend sitting at the bar to watch them work their magic with those spirits, but the environment is cute and cozy throughout with an intimate upstairs area which would be great for a romantic date. read more

Classic and unique twist on familiar cocktails. Had the Blushing Saint which was a great twist on Gin and Aperol. The space is super cool with wood and metal features throughout. Sat at the bar and the staff was on point and very helpful navigating the menu. Definitely coming back. read more

My sister and I were looking for a fun spot to go before going to a friend's house for 4th of July fireworks. We saw The NOOK and thought it looked like a cute spot. We were greeted by a really nice bartender who made us some delicious Seattle Grey cocktails. We ordered the hummus plate to hold us over and it was not only satisfying but had a very nice presentation. We loved the antique decor and didn't run out of things to look at and admire. Went last night for the first time. Almost afraid to promote this place because I'm afraid to lose out on seats because it is a destined hit. What an AMAZING spot. Next level cocktails, unbeatable ambiance, and the nicest staff you could ask for. It has all the makings of being a snobby Ballard bar that everyone flocks to, but with quality that matches its hype and a friendly, West Seattle vibe. I got the cloudy on top, which was absolutely delicious. The bartender made it with such an amazing detail, and when it was left half finished (a nice, strong drink and I was driving!), he was so concerned if I liked it or not and if he could improve it. This is the best cocktail bar in Seattle. The drinks are complex but perfectly balanced - a lot of high-end bars go for this but end up with weird or overpowering concoctions, but the drinks here remind me more of the top notch works of art you'd find in a London speakeasy. On top of that, the space is cozy and fun, and it doesn't hurt that the bartenders are all awesome and, in my experience, are just as good going off-menu as sticking to it. read more

Honestly if you want a bar where you can just chill and read a book and drink fancy cocktails this is the place. All of the drinks I've tried (rotating menus? Or am I just bad at remembering things?) were well balanced and always very creative. The upstairs area is super cozy. Staff are always excellent. Horrible service, we ordered two drinks were hoping to get a second round. At the time we wanted a second drink, a large amount of people arrived so we waited patiently. Once things settled down, with a 1/4 of my martini left... the bar tender swooped in and with out a word picked up my glass and sat down next to some girls to flirt with them for a long time... Started going for morning coffee last week. Quaint and charming atmosphere. Their coffee is excellent. I'm impressed that the drip coffee they offer daily is French pressed. Check out The NOOK for unique and tasty cocktails! They have quite the list and I had a really difficult time deciding what to try. The bartender/guys working there were very helpful, funny and welcoming. My friend and I both really liked our drinks and it was a great spot for hanging out and catching up! The Nook has a fun and chill vibe and I can't wait to go back to try out more drinks! The only thing to keep in mind is that the space is small so be prepared that you might be standing for awhile before sitting space becomes available. read more
