Take this warning to heart: the portions are HUGE. Our family of four all ordered a meal, but could have easily split one meal and we would have still been satisfied. That being said, the food is great! Traditional style breakfast, filling and comforting. As we pulled in the parking lot, the strong smell of cooking bacon wafted through the vents in the car. Although I do not eat pork or any meat with fat on it, even I love the smell of cooking bacon. My husband and I had been here two or three summers ago after hearing our neighbor rave about this place. We did not have a great experience then, but last week we heard the story again about the huge portions of good food, so we decided to give it another chance. We were surprised when we walked in and there was no air conditioner. The place was very hot and humid. We were greeted right away and the waitress took our drink and food order. We didn't order anything too complicated or unusual, a cheese omelet, hash browns extra crispy, and French toast. It was about 40 minutes later when our food arrived. The first thing I noticed was that the hash browns were white, not extra crispy, but nearly raw, and saturated with oil. I doused them in pepper and ketchup and attempted to eat them because I was starving, but could only manage a few bites. My French toast was made with very thick Texas toast like bread. They were not coated very well with the egg mixture, so it was like eating plain bread soaked in syrup. I could only eat three bites and I had to stop. My husband's omelet looked pretty; it had alternating American and Swiss cheese across the top and was garnished with an orange wedge. However, the cheese on top, as well as on the inside was cold and not melted. He said the egg was over cooked and rubbery. He ate most of it. On the way out, I stopped in the restroom. The smell of mold was overwhelming. I had to put my shirt over my face and was still nauseous from the odor. I left as quickly as I could and was happy to get outdoors to the smell of fresh cooking bacon. We will not give this place a third try. It was almost tied for the worst breakfast we had all summer, but I rated it second worst, only to the Flap Jack Shack in Traverse City because the coffee and tea were good. Let me end by saying that I sincerely dislike the idea of leaving a bad review for a locally owned and operated small town restaurant. I believe we should all try to help promote business for these places. read more

So we walked in to this restaurant and walked right out! Dirtiest restaurant ever! We didn't eat there...if the dining room was that dirty, how dirty was the kitchen. Just skip this one. The food was good and the porportion was huge. Unfortunately, it was the worse service I ever had. Our waitress only came over to take our order. It took over 1/2 hour to start receiving our orders. She said she would be back with the rest of the order. This took another 5 minutes and still not complete. We waited again. My eggs were overcooked but the waitress never came back. I had to track her down to get boxes (huge portions). She never came back with our bill. Tracked her down again to ask her for it (about 15 minutes). She asked if we were ready for it. I assumed when we put our food in the boxes that would signal we were done. I am extremely greatful I didn't have coffee and lucky my two friends weren't drinking their waters so I had something to drink. If service is important to you, I would suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Well this restaurant was always talked about so Saturday morning we took a ride to see what it was all about When we first pulled up it kinda reminded me of a scary movie scene one car in the parking lot so we went in We read the bulletin board and it said that they needed waitress help and then it also had the specials on it and then some box tops for veterans they have some if you know anyone that needs them they have some we thought that was pretty cool so then we went in the doorway a little bit more saw a family finishing up there breakfast and a walk in came in and got bacon to take home I guess so the waitress brought our water to us then proceeded to tell us that she was getting a big group in asked us if we wanted coffee and we said yes please and that cup was gone and no waitress came back till she set up the big table then got us coffee and took our order we got 2 farmers omelets and wheat and rye toast well waiting for our food we really liked all the pictures on the walls and the old soda cans that was awesome so we talked about that for a while now still waiting for more coffee our food came oh it looked so yummy now by this time the big group came in and the waitress never came back to us to ask how things are going well I'll tell you if you want lot and I mean lots of hash browns that are kinda cold under cooked about 6 Little pieces of ham and about five little pieces of green peppers and about 3 scrambled eggs on top so make it look like an omelette and two pieces of cheddar cheese on top not fully melted then this is the place for you to go we asked for our bill and the waitress asked if we wanted more coffee and then looked at our food and asked if we wanted a to go box for the hash browns we said no thank you so we paid the bill and tipped way to well for the Service we got but that's us oh they did have to go menus so I grabbed one and was looking at it while waiting for our food to come but when we left I left the menu too for us this is a one and done I'm now thinking they favor the locals and kinda see why they really don't have much to choose from cuz the other restaurant was closed on Saturday morning we know this cuz we went to the shell gas station for coffee for the ride home Sorry for the bad review I hope things will change read more

Goodness gracious. This place is up there. Food is good. Especially breakfast. One downside, they used sliced cheese on my omellete but its not stopping me from giving them 5 stars. Awesome people and great service...this is on my fave list. read more

Yummy the best food! Wow, celebrated my birthday there on Saturday with my coworker friends and they too were loving the good food! I had the best ever Reuben sandwich and it came with a big platter of onion rings! Wow wow wow!! Hands down one of the worst places I've ate in a while. When we received our drinks there was no ice. They were out of almost everything and had only sprite left to drink. The hamburgers came out on giant pieces of bread instead of buns. There was a dirty table that was still dirty when we left almost an hour and a half later. The food was okay but the service was disappointing. I don't necessarily blame waitress as it seemed like she was the only one working, but it was still disappointing nonetheless. The prices were fine but we never got refills and when we went to pay the bill our glasses were filled with ice and melting on the counter. They weren't very busy, but it took about a half hour to get our order taken and then about another half to make them. The wait wouldn't have been so bad if we had drinks to sip. My nieces French toast was half cooked and therefore soggy but the bacon was good and a huge portion. My mother's burger was cold and so were the mushrooms on mine. The fried pickles and mushrooms were good. Some good things but overall disappointed. You get charged a little extra for the drinks because you get refills, so when you don't get refills of them or even the water glasses, it feels like a sour deal. read more

This place is dirty and makes you feel uncomfortable. If you're into getting huge portions of low grade food you wouldn't normally eat then have a seat. That is, if you can find a table without dirty dishes still on it. The service is slow as it took one hour and two minutes for our breakfast to come (Sunday before church crowd and not many people inside). 2 adult meals and 2 kids who split a large pancake. The pancake was raw on the inside and was unsafe to even serve. When asked for a replacement, we were actually told the cook wouldn't make the kids another one. Although I hate posting a bad review for a local restaurant, I've tried multiple times and this place is just unsafe to eat. Just check the bathrooms before you order. If they can be that dirty and neglected, then what's going on back in the kitchen? Be careful eating here read more
