Ok I have to give this place a 3/5 of 5 for these reasons. The restaurant is super cute. Chill date night vibe. The drink menu is nice and has great options. The food menu has a little bit for everybody. The food was good. My husband got the shrimp and grits. I got the parmesan crusted chicken and we split the garlic knots. The knots were delicious. The marinara is very flavorful. The shrimp and grits are very very good. But there were almost no grits. If the portion is small that's ok but don't try to hide it in the sauce. It was giving soup and that kind sucked. The sauce though could go on a pasta. The chicken was a little under seasoned but cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes had a very wet consistency which was a little off putting. The flavor was ... almost smoky. The sauce tasted like the pans were either too high or still had something else burnt on. I really wish I could explain it but the smoky flavor didn't seem intentional. The service was exceptional. Update!! I returned back with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. This experience is as exactly what we were looking for this time around. We went on a Thursday evening, the atmosphere was perfect for dining. We tried different things on the menu; braised brisket and the blackened fish with crawfish étouffée. Everything was perfect. took advantage of Devour - have always passed this strip of restaurants and shops in Broadripple. the ambiance of the restaurant is chic and clean - love the natural lighting from the windows with the bottom blinds. our server was phenomenal- very attentive and helpful. food flavors all blended well together. only removed a star because of cocktail quality - taste was 5star but at the price, was expecting the strength of the beverage to be the perfect night cap needed to coast home. read more

I can't believe I haven't tried The Northside Social before now. First off, there is ample parking in their private lot, which is great for a Broad Ripple business. Walking into the restaurant, it's very swanky and upscale, but doesn't come across as pretentious. The staff greeted us upon entry and seated us right away. Our server (I believe his name was Tracy) was fantastic! He was very friendly, extremely efficient, and had great recommendations for us. We started with calamari fries, which were very meaty and excellent paired with the lemon-scallion aioli. My daughter and I split a Caesar salad, which was light and refreshing. For my entrée, I got the wasabi pea-crusted walleye. This was such a unique and tasty dish - stir fried noodles and veggies in a yellow curry with a slightly spicy piece of walleye on top. Definitely one of the best meals I've had in a while. My daughter got the creamy chicken pesto penne and said it was delicious. My husband got the potato-crusted whitefish, which we learned is their best-selling entrée, and for good reason. I had a bite and the fish melted in my mouth. It's so rare to find a restaurant that deserves 5 stars. The Northside Social however does. It's beautifully decorated and really sets the tone for what to expect when you dine here. Our service was awesome we came close to closing but she still provided great service and didn't rush us at all. We started with the crab balls appetizer and they were delicious my husband decided to get an order of the Mac and cheese as an appetizer as well. The Mac and cheese side is enough for a meal. I will say it was delicious we are somewhat Mac and cheese snobs and I usually hate when people add meat to the dish but it was the perfect touch. I opted for the fried chicken which was served with greens and pimento Mac and cheese. Again Mac and cheese didn't disappoint I mean they could just serve that and have my business. The greens had a sweet flavor which I'm not accustomed to but enjoyed. Chicken was tender and seasoned just right. My husband had the beef and it was massive. The vegetables were out of this world. While I was sad to not see the former Mac and cheese on the menu any longer, I was very happy with my order! The Nook pizza with onions, shrooms, fennel sausage and tomatoes was cheesy, yummy, and perfectly cooked. And then the lump crab cheese dip, omg. A must! Baguettes were the perfect paring but of course, not enough! We would have asked for more if the baby hadn't called to wrap up our meal. I almost gave this restaurant five stars just for being a business in Broad Ripple with its own parking lot! You do have to put up with bits of traffic problems with the work on College Avenue's Red Line and the median allowing access only from the south, so it's not a perfect setup. And don't let the rather drab, strip mall looking exterior keep you away either. Inside is an elegant setting with high quality food and beverages. It always amazes me when I look at how much time passes between my visits to restaurants (I am not the ideal customer for business owners). It had been quite awhile, so I decided to take advantage of this business being open on Monday nights (that's fairly rare in town). With their opening at 4, I was the first customer about 4:30 and had my choice of seating. I was shown to a small table in the bar area with a view of the tv screens over the bar (they are partially obstructed by the hanging light shades though.) My server was very pleasant and she did a really good job throughout the evening as I ordered, dined, and checked out. Plenty of water refills and the always appreciated check in on how everything tastes after I've had a chance to take a few bites makes for a smooth flowing evening. I started off with a cocktail which tend to run in the $10-13 range. The Strawberry - Basil Martini is excellent! The brightness of the berry flavor with a hint of tarty sweetness was balanced by the aroma/flavor of the basil which added a savory element. I barely tasted the alcohol, so it's a good thing it was pricey...these could sneak up on you fast if you kept drinking them. Excellent for sipping and savoring the flavor. Since I was dining alone, I passed the appetizers which generally are portioned to be shareable. I went directly to the entree which was a tough choice (quite a few of the items sounded really good!) I went with the Smoked Apple Butter Ribs (comes in a separated half rack) with two decks of Potato Gratin and garnished with braised red cabbage for a bit of acidity. I was very pleased with the flavor and color of the cabbage which accomplished enhancing the meal with both attributes. The ribs, though not quite 'fall off the bone' done were still very tender and were easily removed with a little knife work. The smoked apple butter added depth to the flavor of the pork ribs and when combined with bits of the chopped cabbage, delivered a well rounded taste. Serving them over the potato gratin, I had to move the ribs out of the way to realize the deck shaped potatoes were underneath. The potatoes are sliced about 1" wide and about 3" long, then turned on their side to form a deck sized block. This made it easy to use my fork to separate the slices into bite sized sections. Bites of the ribs, cabbage, AND potato were the best. Well done! I also ordered an additional side (sauteed green beans) that were easily shareable, but I managed to eat them all. They were served fresh and bright green from the al dente prep. I personally prefer them done just a bit more, but I realize this is how a lot of upscale restaurants serve them. Just a matter of choice. They could have used a bit of seasoning or maybe a hint of lemon juice...something to bring out the taste. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal and experience. Counting tax and standard tip, the meal (with cocktail and extra side) was just over $50, so not a cheap night out. We loved Northside social! Finally had a date night and made it to this gem. The food was great. The service was spectacular and she continued to check on us. We made a reservation on the way and were greeted at the door. The white chairs, dim lighting, and individual lit tables were very intimate. The calamari steak fries were delicious. The salad with vinaigrette was very fresh. The portion sizes were large and we had to take food home. Fried chicken and shrimp and grits were the entrees we chose. I came here Friday night and it was a fantastic time! We were sitting next to a large group that was quite loud, which was a bit frustrating from the host's side. There were multiple other places to sit that weren't by a party of 12. We started with the low country lemonade, it was amazing! Sweet with a little bit of sour- absolutely delicious. I got the trio of duck. I absolutely love duck. It was cooked super well, in two different ways. The okra, corn chow chow and duck was cold- which threw me off. A friend and I went last weekend and decided to sit outside. I wouldn't call the patio a great area, but it was a nice alternative since it was too cold inside and a beautiful evening outside. We got sat right away, and our server greeted us promptly. We both ordered margaritas and liked our drinks. Neither of us were crazy hungry, so my friend ordered the meatball appetizer and I ordered the wedge salad and added salmon. My friend mentioned more than once that the sauce on the meatballs could be addicting. My wedge salad was delicious. Don't let the horseradish blue cheese dressing steer you away. I like horseradish, but you could barely taste anything different. I did order salmon to go with it. The server asked if I wanted it medium and honestly I can't remember the last time I've been asked that about salmon, so I said medium well. It was dry and crispy and definitely was well-done. This is my second COVID update, because this pandemic is going on soooooo long and businesses have to keep adjusting to try to stay alive! Please see my previous reviews as well. When they reopened for dine in service, based on their website and messaging on FB, it looked like they were stopping curbside pickup for everything but the family sized entrees. (Serves 4). Well, I didn't want 4 portions of the same thing...and I am not a huge fan of delivery services, and am not sure I'm even in the delivery area for the service they use, so I decided to call, and yes, they are still doing carry out from the regular menu! yay! Just call, and you can order, prepay and set a pickup time. Call them when you arrive and they'll bring the food out to you. I had the fried chicken which came with mac and cheese and green beans, it was delicious and there was so much chicken (3 pieces) that I'll be getting 2 meals out of this. The fried chicken was juicy with a wonderfully seasoned crisp crust. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The green beans were fresh and nicely seasoned. This was much needed comfort food on a drizzly, cold, gray day. I look forward to being back here to dine in after the pandemic is under better control, but until then so happy they are still doing takeout! read more

I visited here a few weeks ago after trying the Northside Kitchenette (their connecting restaurant) and was so happy I did! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. My new obsession lately has been pork belly anything and theirs is definitely the best. The restaurant has a beautiful upscale feel with reasonable price for the high level of quality. There is also a nice outdoor seating area. It is the perfect spot for a date night or even to celebrate a special occasion with a small group. Don't be folded when hearing it is located in broad ripple, they do have their own parking which is always nice! I do know their menu changes seasonally, but if the buffalo cauliflower is on the menu when you go definitely order some of that. Also get the cornbread. I've been a patron since they first opened, and Northside Social is a consistent dinner winner. I was compelled to finally write a review after my girlfriend held her wedding rehearsal dinner there last week. First off, they were one of the only restaurants in Indy willing to open for a private party on New Year's Day. The staff could have been grumpy buggers about working in a holiday, but instead they were delightful, exceeded expectations. Water always refilled without asking, timely removal of plates, paying special attention to the bride and offering educated drink suggestions are just a few little details I noticed. I have yet to have an entree that I didn't think was absolutely delicious. I've been for many dinners and even special buffet events for holidays like Mother's Day. My favorite entree is by far the potato-crusted basa. It's so savory with a great texture. When I really feel like diet cheating and testing my lactose-intolerance limits I order the gourmet mac and cheese. Holy moly is it a treat! Pig was meant for mac, and they add not only bacon but also prosciutto to this fantastic side offering! The bar offers a niceselection of local beer, big box beer, vino and signature cocktails. The PearSecco is my go-to beverage of choice with it's refreshing melody of sparkling wine, pear vodka and splash of lemon simple syrup. It's a very 'summery' drink, but I love it year-round. I think the cocktail menu is very encompassing of all taste profiles with bourbon, rum vodka and liqueur options. In addition to loving the food, I love the decor. Think sleek, white, dark wood, exposed duct work, great bar to bevy up to and low candle light. They have a few TV's at the bar if you absolutely feel the need to distract yourself from your yummy food or drink. Great location, great food, great service. So first off they have their own parking lot, located just a little north of the broad ripple main strip of bars. I love that I don't have to fight to find a parking spot and then walk 3 blocks ha. The interior is modern and fresh--bright and open. When I walked in they have these shutters on the windows and my first thought was thy it reminded me of a restaurant on the beach in like Michigan. Their menu kind of followed that theme with lots of fish options but also a wide array of options. Seafood, pizza, burgers, southern, Italian --something for anyone. Even though their menu has many a variety it's by no means overwhelming. I got the calamari steak fries and they were amazing. They were large strips of calamari in a light batter served with lemon and a lemon aioli. They were actually an appetizer but I wasn't super hungry and I can never say no to calamari ha. I also got their Caesar salad which was fairly priced and really good. This was such a nice restaurant to have a fancy night, date night or dinner with friends. We arrived late Friday evening without a reservation but luckily they still had room. Not in love with the tables for two in the middle of the rows but it was okay. Their draft menu was pretty good. Tried a new St. Joseph's red amber ale on the server's recommendation and it was great. I was really torn between getting the brisket or the pork shank and Stephen the server recommended the shank. I am so glad he did. OMG- it was a massive dish of a delicious juicy pork shank, a cassoulet of white beans, roasted Brussels sprouts- not usually a favorite of mine but these were very tasty- and potatoes dauphine. A lovely lovely meal that I highly recommend. It was massive though - if you aren't that hungry be prepared to take some home. My only disappointment was the potatoes which were fine but I just think roasted potatoes would have been tastier and just a bit better. Service was excellent. We are already talking about coming back next week and maybe try the brisket this time although that shank was so good I may have to get it again. By the way, try their Lowcountry lemonade. The food here was absolutely amazing! I was very impressed. This restaurant is in the broad ripple area located off north college in a plaza. There is a parking lot so you don't have to worry about street parking. I really love how bright the inside of the restaurant is. I'm so use to place having dark tone walls and the lights being dim. When I walked inside here it was like a breath of fresh air. I love the style of the tables and how spacious it is. My mom and I both ordered a caesar salad and the farm style parmesan chicken. The caesar salad was so good the bowl was completely cleaned when I was done. I love how the croutons were crumbled and the balsamic tomatoes. The flavoring was on point. The parmesan chicken was good too. It had a hint of lemon and the chicken was not over cooked. I'm not super big on breaded chicken breast, but this was good. I will say that the portion was small. If you are a bigger eater I would suggest getting an extra side as well. Luckily it was the right amount for me I had lunch earlier that day. I would definitely come back to order the same thing. My mom enjoyed hers as well and she actually finished it all lol. We didn't get dessert because we had planned to go to cake bake which is about 1 street over.
