My husband and I used to love this place, the food was always good and service was amicable and quick. However, the last three times we've gone, we have been left wanting. There seems to be a serious service issue with newer waitstaff; they obviously do not want to be there. We always arrive a little bit before the dinner rush, so busyness is not the issue. We have waited nearly 20 minutes for fountain drinks two of these last three times, and on all three occasions, waited about an hour for our food to show up. Twice, the food was sub-par from their past, but still somewhat fresh. However, the last time our fried meals had clearly been re-fried; chicken tenders were dry and bordering burnt, fried cod and french fries were very greasy and nearly inedible. Even their once grade-A ranch has suffered. If you like ranch that is 90+% mayonnaise, this place is for you. Finally, their water is unfiltered tap water and does not taste good at all. read more

I am new to the area and looking for a relaxing place to have drink after work or on the weekend. I first impression is the bar tender is unattentive, but I can get by that. I am sitting on the end of the bar where you can see into the kitchen. No one is wearing gloves. The kitchen staff is putting their hands on their filthy clothes or hats then hand grabbing lettuce to make your salad. Looks like this is not a good place and the search continues. read more

I frequent this place at least twice a week for the last 3 years and I won't return except to complain about what happened tonight. 9pm hours posted say close at 10am... Place is busy and they won't seat any more people because they want to close early. A good business stays open until posted hours especially when you've been in business this long and have regulars. Good job guys I've seen the Carpinteria location close and the customer service at the Summerland location is horrible. The best part of this place has always been the waiters but when you get the management there's issues. My expectations for bar food are usually quite low. Based on a friend's recommendation, I came in to try their burger. Being with a friend, we also ordered a side of hot wings. The hot wings arrived first. They were close to perfect. Crispy skin with soft and juicy insides. And the hot sauce on the side. The only way to get wings like this would be to start them in the fryer, toss them in sauce, and finish them in the oven. Next, the burger. Everything about it was mediocre. Except it was perfectly cooked and the char on it was beautiful. Only problem was a lack of salt and I couldn't taste the beef. Regardless, the place is immaculately clean, bathroom included, and service was great. I will definitely be back for the wings and another shot at their burger. read more

We love coming here for a weekend early afternoon bloody mary. They are very delicious and they will gladly make it extra spicy if you ask them. I love the French dip with French fries. The au ju is nice and salty just how I like it. For some reason I love a powerful au ju. :) the burgers are great and very flavorful. The wedge salad is really nice if you aren't up for fries. I love the decor, even if some people might find it cheesy.. the country girl in me loves it. The staff is always really nice and very knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks are all fantastic and are very large. They don't skimp on anything here!! read more

Nugget is our "go to" family restaurant, you'll find mostly locals. Great food at a great price, one of our favorites. Try the lemon drop, you won't be disappointed! Today "the adults" all had burgers and fries, our grandchildren split a grilled cheese & chicken tenders from the children's menu. Went to the Nugget tonight. There were two open chairs at the bar. I asked if we could sit in the empty chairs at the counter bar. She said yes. We sat down. She then came over to us and said the bar was full, and we could no longer sit in the empty bar stools. So we left went to Zodo's, enjoyed a fun atmosphere, and good food!!! We come for dinner a few nights a month. It is a comfort food place. The veggies on the side of the entrees are the best in town, nicely sautéed and seasoned. The plates are large enough to share. Let me just first off state that I love the nugget most of the times I go there. Everytime I dine in the service is great as well as the food and drinks. But I'm super bummed to say that I am really displeased with today's order. I got a large to go order for my family to enjoy. Everyone else's food was great they said. But my Cobb salad was less than mediocre. If I am paying almost 15 dollars for a salad I expect it to have everything on it. I ordered it with out blue cheese because I am 39 weeks pregnant and can't eat it. My salad looked like a half portion when I paid for a full, was all lettuce, about 4 crumbles of bacon, and tomatoes and onion and half an avocado. Very little cheddar also. And no egg what so ever. It was just a really sad little looking salad. The hostess who took my order did not seem friendly and was very short when I was on the phone with her. Being pregnant it is really hard for me to find things I want to eat and So finding something that sounded good is a challenge. Then to be given a half assed salad really just disappointed me. I will be back in the future to get food in house but I know better to order take out now. read more

Food here is OK. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. However the service is awful. Every time I come in here the wait staff basically ignores you. In fact on my most recent visit there was no line over half the tables were empty and it took 5 min. Just to get anyone's attention. That wouldn't be so bad except the fact that after being seated for 20 min the waitress still had not come to take our order. Finally got up and had to walk her over to our table. I went here yesterday with my boyfriend. He got a western burger/fries and I got the philly cheese steak/ onion rings. Everything was delicious but my philly cheese steak was okay. I've had better and I recommend not getting that but I will definitely would go back and try something new. The decor isn't the nicest and the service was fast but not too friendly. read more

Dropped in for Lunch with a friend on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015. A server, Kaila C, seated us right away, but before that while she was arranging our booth a bus boy noticed us in the lobby and asked it we needed help. It was nice to see the staff was so concerned with our well being. Kaila asked for our drink order, 1 Guinness and 2 Waters. She quickly returned with them, then took our meal order. After asking a few questions on their menu items I ordered the Filet Mignon with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Veggies. Leo ordered Kent's Chopped Steak with Onion Rings and a Salad. Both meals were excellent. My Filet was cooked rare, just the way I ordered it, Leo's Steak was also how he ordered it, well done. What I was impressed with was the Garlic Mashed and Veggies, the Potatoes were actually Garlic Mashed. I have had so many restaurants say Garlic mashed, only to get bland Mashed Potatoes with no Garlic to be noted. The Veggies were awesome, grilled al dente cauliflower broccoli and carrots. I couldn't have asked for better. The only comment Leo made was his steak was a little too salty, but he ate it all so obviously it wasn't bad enough to complain about or send back. The 2 meals were $50, and with tip it was $60, and we both left very happy we found this place. I will definitely return when in the Goleta area. read more

Very disappointed in the management, went by 4 times to book my birthday party in the back patio and was told Jamal was the only one I could speak to, called several times as and even went into the Santa Barbara location to find him. Left our phone number and never once heard from them to discuss food and tables for a party of 40 people. Thank god for the rain forecast and I switched my location to a venue at the last minute. The funny thing is 45 mins before my party I get a call from the nugget informing me about the rain!! Poor service and professionalism,,, lost out on a large profit!! read more

The food was good, but our waitress was so rude that we will never return to this restaurant. My elderly mother asked what came on a cheeseburger and was told "it tells you in the menu." She was unable to see the menu without her glasses. I was clearly upset by the waitress' response, so she proceeded to reach for the menu and tell us, "I can read it for her, we don't need to go here." Was told that about 3 times. All 7 of us at the table were so shocked that we all remained silent. Find it interesting that the waitress doesn't know what comes on a cheeseburger, she can "read" it for us as if we need her to? Waitress then entered our order while proceeding to tell the story to two other servers, yes they both turned and looked at our table. Very disappointing for our first and only time there. We love this place. Service can be uneven, and you have to know what to order, but there's a great feel about it. We come here often. Burgers are tasty--try the Crunch Burger for something different. Sweet potato fries are better than the regular ones. My husband likes the Gaucho Burger. Also good: the meatloaf (less than $10!) and have heard good things about the pork chops, too. The wedge salad is also tasty but certainly not lo-cal, covered in bleu cheese, bacon, and avocado. There is a great patio that is sparsely seated, probably because it's right next to the freeway and the train tracks. That means your kids can run around without bothering anyone! The location can't be beat for South Goleta folks---close to Trader Joe's, bowling, and Yogurtland! read more

The Nugget is just the epitome of average American food. Burgers, steaks, ribs, salads, and more. The food is alright if you're craving All-American food with big portions. I've never been particularly impressed with the food here, but we still visit at least once every few months. Although they do have a full bar here, I've only ever had beer here. The food came out pretty fast when we ordered it but it was really nothing special for the price. Also, our waitress only came by a couple times and it was just for refills. Came in for dinner. There were 6 of us and we were quickly seated for a Saturday night. I had the guacamole burger as did a friend. It was huge, delicious and messy. Another friend had a steak and cooked veggies. Although he like his steak, he said that the veggies were over salted as was the potatoes. Update: I usually rave about this place, the burgers and sandwiches have always been DELICIOUS. However, tonight was extremely disappointing. I'm REALLYYY hoping it was just an off night where they maybe ran out of their usual ingredients? I ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich which is usually way too large to be consumed in one sitting and I get to take it home and enjoy it again later. It's usually piled high with sliced sirloin, mushrooms, onions, and cheese oozing out of it in a most delicious kind of way. Tonight, when it arrived, I questioned if it was my sandwich. It just didn't look right, it sorta looked like a hot dog bun with a little bit of meat and onions in between. I don't think there was cheese and I only found 2 mushrooms (maybe?) The meat was horrible. It tasted like ground beef mixed with some 3 day old Tri tip shreds. It was dry and just gross. I got a little less than halfway through when one of my friends told the waitress it wasn't very good. She was EXTREMELY polite and asked if I wanted something else, I declined because I didn't want to make an issue out of it or waste product etc. I took another bite or two and just stopped cause I couldn't eat it. My bf (who eats there regularly with me) took a few bites out of the other half and looked at me and said "yeah you're right, that's gross and not your normal sandwich." I lifted the bun and looked at the meat which turned out to be exactly what it tasted like, shredded up ground beef. I didn't finish the sandwich, however the fries were still amazing. The waitress returned with the check and said she took my sandwich off which I felt terrible for because I was not looking for a free meal, but we thanked her and tipped her 20$ on the 55$ meal since with my sandwich it should have been closer to $70. I'm hoping they just ran out of the normal buns and meat and had to improvise? However, if you can't make a menu item, it's better to inform the customer then serve subpar food. I will return in the future, in hopes I can return my previous 5 star review of the nugget. 1st review: I've lived in the goleta area for a few years now and work across the street. I always saw the nugget and wanted to go check it out but just never got around to it until the other afternoon. My bf is a goleta local and he had somehow never even heard of it but I convinced him to check it out with me for lunch. I got the Philly cheesesteak with fries and he got the tri tip dip with onion rings. We were going to split the two meals but we wound up liking what we ordered so much we tried a bite of each others and kept our own sandwiches lol The decor isn't "Santa Barbara" and is a little cheesy, I'd call it wanna be redneck, but it honestly reminded me of places back home and so I felt very comfortable. However, if you like to be asked every 5 seconds if everything is OK, then I think you should pay for this extravagant service and the Nugget is certainly the place for you. So for Valentines Day Weekend, I was stupid enough to think that I did not have to make reservations at any restaurant and could some how just get a table. Not to mention there was a film festival going on that same weekend. So when my BF and I got into Goleta we saw this place and were saying how lame it looked. Then when we were desperately trying to find some place for dinner we ended up here. Well I am glad we did because I was pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was great with recommendations and he was very attentive. I really liked him. I got some chicken and it was pretty good. My BF got ribs and they were so good the meat just was so tender it fell of the bones. Yum! We also got dessert which was apple pie a la mode and it was tasty as well. All in all I would definitely come here again when I am in Goleta! read more
