We stopped in for lunch while we were at Epic Universe. It was a seat yourself situation and mobile ordering using the app at the table operation. I got the Huli Huli pulled pork sandwhich with the harissa cauliflower. Pork was really good - very lean. The sauce is at the table so to control what type of sauce you put on and how much. Love this! The Huli Huli sauce is a little sweeter. The harissa cauliflower was great. It does have some spice to it but I didn't find it over powering. My husband got the brisket sandwhich. Said the brisket was good but the fun kind of struggle to stay together. The French fries he got are dusted with a bbq flavoring spice. They were tasty. Uggh, I don't like live music, but I wanted to fulfill my quest of trying every bar at Epic. I sat down and tried a $25 Plastered Owl. I unfortunately did not get plastered. The drink was alright, a lot of ice. The next drink I tried was the $17 Dapper Deer's Old Fashioned. It was also just ok. Once again, a ton of ice. Okay, I'm going to be honest here. I was having an amazing day at Epic Universe, and it was time for lunch. The original plan was to try the pizza at Pizza Moon. We were curious since the reviews are extremely positive. Unfortunately, the line was horrible, and standing under the sun for an hour just wasn't feasible. So, we walked right next door and discovered the Oak and Star Tavern. It turned out to be a great decision. We walked in and were immediately greeted by an attendant who took the time to explain the menu and how to order for faster service. We found a table, scanned the QR code, and placed our order. I got the two meat plate, and my son had the pulled pork sandwich. For sides, I chose mac and cheese, and he went with the fries. A server brought our food and yes, they use real silverware! The brisket was good, not dry at all. The ribs were average, and the mac and cheese was solid as well. I was satisfied, although the portion size was on the smaller side. My son said his sandwich was really good, and the fries were amazing. All in all, I'll definitely try this place again on my next visit. We had dinner before leaving the park. It wasn't busy at all. Service was slow for no reason. But the food was delicious. We had the Smoked Masters BBQ Feast. We ordered the ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork as our meats and the Mac& cheese, coleslaw, beans, and cheddar biscuits as our sides. The feast automatically comes with mango bread as a side. The bar side has a stage with bands and that's where I was (and will be). Great time listening to live music and eating BBQ along with a cocktail. I got the brisket, ribs, and beans and it came with pickles and bread. Not really sure what the bread was, not cornbread, but nice and soft and tasty. Pickles were great. Wish there were more. The beans with burnt ends were really good. Totally enjoyed those. Before we get the meat, let's talk sauce. They have 4. Sweet (didn't try), Harissa (spicy and fantastic), smokey (forgettable), and Tropical Gold (delicious vinegar and heat). Nice to see 4 sauces on every table! For the meat, portions were small. 2 ribs and 2 slices of brisket. But with the sides it was a pretty decent meal. Not a gut buster but filling enough and not expensive. So a good value. The St. Louis ribs were decent. Didn't love them but they were tasty with a decent amount of meat on them. The star was clearly the brisket. Smoked for 14 hours. We really enjoyed this place! Since it is new, you expect some issues but it went fairly smoothly! I will say, you have to order on the Universal Studios app at your table, and then you have to confirm you are seated and present and type in your table number. This was hidden on the app and I had to go to my orders to find it. The 2 meat platter is what I ordered, and I loved the brisket! The smoked sausage was good too, but it was just a smoked sausage. The smoked cheddar biscuits were definitely the best part! $5 for two is amazing honestly! My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and he devoured it! The Mac and cheese was alright. Not my favorite. There are 4 barbecue sauces on the table you can choose from as well! We were the only customers in there and it was super quiet and almost awkward... We ate lunch at the oak and Star tavern. I got the pulled pork platter with a side of smoke cauliflower harissa and the smoked barbecue pickles; here's a plus they have live music. All the orders are done through the mobile app which I absolutely love. They have four different types of sauces they have a Huli Huli sauce, sweet sauce, a Harris a sauce, and a tropical sauce . I put the sweet barbecue on my pork- it has the softest texture and flavor it's kind of spicy it has like a lingering heat. Out of all the barbecue sauces that I can eat I have to say the harissa barbecue sauce is my favorite. It's spicy but it has a sweet lingering finished. The harissa cauliflower is a little bit soaked in olive oil and the meat is very greasy. The pickles on the side or a little bit of sweet Not certainly my vibe but there's still pretty. crunchy. I have heard some good reviews about the food at Epic Universe. We arrived very early to the park and wanted to have breakfast and one of the staff recommended the Oak and Star Tavern located in the Celestial section of the park. Oak is their barbecue counter service restaurant and the ambiance gave off a futuristic cabin with a nice fireplace. All the counter service restaurants you have the option to order at the counter or the Universal app and once you find your table you key punch the number and they bring the food to you. We ordered their sausage and egg sandwich with a side of their famous mango bread. The sausage was perfectly roasted sliced in half served with fresh scramble eggs and two slices of cheddar cheese. The dish included delicious seasoned French fries, and the breakfast sandwich was solid. The mango bread was very moist and not so sweet. A great place to start the day! read more

I didn't order or eat the corn bread as I don't like it. Along with a soda this order was $30 and was more a snack than a main meal. If I ran a restaurant I would be ashamed to serve that portion of ribs. Horrible service. We walked in at about 7pm and there was a band playing. Not all tables in that area were full but decided to sit closer to the entrance. All "open" tables had food and trays still on the tables. We asked if one can be cleaned off and the trays and plates were cleared but table was left dirty with pieces of food. We ordered our food online per the QR code on table. Many employees walked by and did not clean our table or any of the others. The person who dropped of the food also did not clean it. We also asked for cups of water from the bar and only empty cups were provided with no direction on where to fill. We ate our food that we sadly paid for and were just upset with the whole experience. By the time we left, about 5 tables, including the ones dirty and with trays/plates when we got there an hour earlier were still not clear. read more

Wow! This place is amazing! We got there an hour before closing so they sat us on the "plastered owl" side of the restaurant. We got the "two meat combo" with brisket and pulled pork and mango bread. Both meats were delicious and there were four sauces to try with them. The mango bread was moist and fluffy. My friend doesn't like mango but he liked this bread. Would recommend! The only negative would be the size of the platter was on the small side. For me it was the perfect size though. There was live music/comedy playing at the stage and they were great. Heard the brisket was really good. Ordered it and more than 70% of the meat was all fat. I had to wait to flag down a worker which took more than 20 minutes. The worker went to ask someone what to do and he came back and said it's all like that and there was nothing they could do. I then asked for a refund which the worker communicated to his mgr. and a kitchen worker appeared and I showed him my food. He grudgingly came back with 1/2 once of meat which was a fraction of what my dinner size order was and that was all he would do. I will not return and sadly I've been to EPIC Universe 15 times since it opened with another trip in about 5 weeks. Somewhere between a blend of self service & wait, but never chooses one. Can order from your table but unclear if you have a server to ask for any additional items like condiments or what have you. I had the Brisket sandwich & definitely had a nice mix of lean and moist cuts and the selection of sauces paired great. The side of Mac & cheese was good, but not my favorite Mac in the park. The mango cornbread, . I was disappointed to see that my friends who both ordered chicken platters had drastically different portion sizes. One had a sizable breast and the other a wing, not by choice, and both went for more than $15. Make it make sense.
