Decor - beautiful! Food - so so good and there are gluten free options listed on the menu which I love! Hubby is a pizza SNOB AND LOVE LOVE LOVEDDDDD the pizza! Wished there was more pulled pork in it but overall good experience... perfect for date night and large spaces so you can reserve for groups too as I saw it set up...

Ordered carry out. Filet medium rare. Suppose to come with broccolini. Got asparagus instead which is awful. This is my medium rare steak which is hard as a hockey puck. This restaurant is going downhill. This is the second time I've eaten here in 6 months and it was terrible.

The ambiance here is so warm and inviting--it immediately makes you feel comfortable and welcome. The servers are consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which adds so much to the overall experience. I've loved everything I've tried on the menu, from the classics to the more creative dishes, but the duck fat chicken wings are truly unforgettable--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy a casual night out or celebrate something special, knowing the food and service will always be excellent. Every visit feels like a treat, and I can't wait to come back again!

Three of us enjoyed a weekday lunch here. Huge servings- we enjoyed all the food. We were the first ones there when they opened so no tables were taken- a bit disappointed to be seated at a drafty table (cold air everytime the front door opened) that was also rocking and unsteady. They attempted to stabilize the rocking table when we brought it to their attention but it didn't help. They probably should have just relocated us, given we were the only table seated. Aside from these concerns, the burger was perfectly cooked. The onion rings were good- a bit too much batter. The sides of fries and Mac and cheese were large and tasty. Large restaurant and bar area.

Ask the Community - The Oak Barrel

    Do they do beer flights?

They offer samples, ~1oz, for a small fee but I don't know if they offer "flights" explicitly - I never tried.

Do they have a corkage fee if we bring our own wine? If so, how much?

I think is 12.99 if you bring your own

Do you seat high chairs on the patio? What is the wait like on the weekend?

Is handicap accessible ? What are the price range of main dishes? Do still have the pork shank and also do you have fried fish

The loft is not handicapped accessible but the dining room is. Prices range from $10 - 29 for our food options. I don't believe we will ever get rid of the pork shank that is my favorite and yes we have a poboy sandwich and a fried fish dinner.

Can you purchase a gift card?

    Yes

We arrived on time. The parking was $3.00. The restaurant is in an old carriage house on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. We were placed in a the back room near a mini door by a window and a view of the patio garden. The inside was very nice. I am a bit claustrophobic so I sat with my back to the corner while my husband had a view of the corner. Fortunately, he could see the patio which he liked. The other downside, was the couple of flies that kept buzzing to and fro around the window, We joked that we wanted inside on the nice late afternoon / early evening to avoid bugs. Hahaha. We laughed at that too as our week had us on Lake Erie covered with midgies one day and then biting flies a few days later. Gotta laugh, but I digress. L'Albatros! Our server Kyle and the team did a great job! We had water, bread with olive oil, as needed. We started with cocktails and the "French Toast". My husband enjoyed a nice white wine and I had the L'Albatros Original ( Absinthe, Lime, Pineapple, Mint ). I loved the cocktail, it was just a tad sweet, but the flavor was super ! The "French Toast" was a substantial slice of French toast covered with ragout of wild mushrooms and balsamic syrup and micro greens and shaved parmesan. It was lovely. My husband LOVES mushrooms, so this was perfect. For our mains, he ordered the shrimp pasta. Kyle shared that the cream sauce is made with Pernod, which my husband is not a fan of Anise/ black licorice,so he would not enjoy. Kyle offered that they could do a vodka cream sauce instead. This was a much better option for him and he really enjoyed. I ordered the Root Vegetable Cassoulet. It was topped with some breadcrumb mixture. It was the least successful part of the dish. While I normally like a crumble, this has an odd texture. The root vegetables were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. For dessert, my husband ordered cheesecake. I had a bite and it was tasty. I ordered a cappuccino and it was made perfectly. Definitely a place we would both be happy to return to. Well done service, food and ambiance!

Knowing there was a jacket required dress code, I was expecting a more formal atmosphere, but was fine with it being more casual than expected inside and I wonder if the dress code is to keep some boaters from wandering in. The menu is large with wonderful options and I was torn between beef and Wellington and the lobster Thermidor. Both are rare items to find. I chose the beef Wellington and was not disappointed, I would order that again. Lobster bisque was amazing and we would order that again. The seasonal corn soup was a little sweet for my taste, but did have great flavor. Softshell crab appetizer was enough and it's one of those things I like to get once every few years when I see it on the menu. Hogfish was good. The blue cheese add on for the salad was strong. We did not have room for dessert. I regret we didn't have a chance to get outside and see the river and the outdoor ambience.

We enjoyed the view of the boats on the water and the fact that you still dress up outside but not to the level that is required for inside dining. Understandably, my husband didn't love the idea of needing to wear a jacket in 90+ degree heat so it is nice they offer the outside seating option that features the same menu. That said, we were seated at a nice table outside and we had great service the whole evening. It was my birthday and they printed out special menus labeled for my birthday and included a card which the whole staff signed - a very nice touch! Onto the food. We received an amuse bouche with chickpeas and foam which was nice but nothing special, taste wise. We ordered soups to start - the French onion and corn chowder with scallop. Both were incredible! I will be dreaming about that corn chowder...so tasty. Next we were brought salads. My husband added goat cheese to his and it was a comically small portion for the $3 upcharge. For entrees, we chose the seabass and the hogfish special. For $68 each, we both expected more. The seabass tasted fishy (we have both had seabass many times and it has never tasted this way) and the peach glaze on the hogfish was too sweet for my liking and took away from the flavor of the fish. It wasn't bad, but not what I was hoping for after it was talked up a lot by the staff. We were offered dessert menu but we were quite full and after seeing that each option was $20, it was an easy pass. They did bring us two small mousse cups on the house for my birthday though, which was a nice surprise. All in all we enjoyed our evening. The ambiance was good, the service was great, and the food was mostly good just not up to the caliber of the high price tag, in our opinions. And they charge a credit card fee so that was an unwelcome surprise. I think we would go back but just for the views and the soup. And we would pay cash next time :) Thank you for the nice birthday evening, Chez Francois!

A nice place to do just that is "Le Petit Triangle Cafe" on Fulton in Cleveland. It's a cute little French cafe with sidewalk dining and a nice country French menu. Perfect for a snack or a meal. Almost everything was perfect. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 is really something they have no control over. However, it has a profound effect on the outside dining experience. Make sure you have plenty of time baked into your schedule as service timeliness can be hit or miss. Our served was quite pleasant, but there seemed to be backups somewhere in the chain of operations. After drink orders were placed, a platter of fresh, warm rolls were brought along with a butter and oil sampler dish for dipping, applying. The seasoned butter was delicious! I started with a bowl of Cleveland onion soup (there version of French onion soup) which came in a more traditional bowl instead of a crock with a smallish amount of onions in a rich broth topped with a crouton and some melted provolone cheese. It was on the salty side but still tasted pretty good. My wife ordered the scallops meal which came with a pea risotto and I chose the beef short ribs atop pureed potatoes and topped with a demi glaze sauce. Very little good to say other than that! To start with the decor is drab. I go to a broadway show every week in NYC and I've never seen a restaurant that felt so drab in the theater district in NYC. It feels like they're trying to be like a theater district dinner spot, but the decor and ambiance do not live up to it. The service is not pre-theater. Our waitress was also our bartender. She did neither very well. While she was polite she didn't really create an enjoyable experience for our dinner and there was no fun commentary. Her drinks were really bad except for the shots we ended up doing. The old fashioned was the best of all the drinks, others were just too sweet or too strong or too sour. The food I thought was downright horrid. Apparently the short rib was the best, but everything tasted like airplane food. The fried burrata was interesting and I almost liked it. The calamari tasted like it had been popped in a microwave after coming out of a freezer. The steak was the most mid steak i've ever had. There was no crust, it wasn't seared in any way, it was very weird...but it didn't have horrible taste and it was still cooked as ordered. But who cooks a steak without searing it?!? They really tried with the caesar salad, but didn't execute quite right. We were told this food would be "exquisite" as a recommendation - it wasn't. I wouldn't go back, but it was nice that we got in and out in time.

We were able to try a variety of dishes, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared and made from scratch. Standouts for us included the vol-au-vent with escargot, rosti, filet mignon, scallops, sea bass, and the rich, creamy French onion soup. The flavors were well-balanced, the presentation was colorful, and some elements even had a fun, interactive touch (like the Parmesan crisp). One thing that sets this place apart is how versatile it is. It offers a bar area with happy hour, a strong cocktail and mocktail selection, and French-inspired bar bites like mussels and steak. There's also a more formal dining room for a sit-down experience, plus a private dining space available (free Mon-Wed, fee the rest of the week). They've also recently opened a café next door, which is worth checking out on its own--great selection of pastries, macarons, crepes, and coffee, along with wines, cheeses, and other French specialties. The atmosphere is elegant but still comfortable, and the service was attentive and professional throughout our visit. Overall, a great hidden gem whether you're looking for a casual drink, a full dinner, or even just coffee and dessert. We'll definitely be back.
