We came to Obstinate Daughter as a party of two on a week night around 5:45, and we were able to get a spot at the bar right away! They have comfy bar seats, no stools! Service was attentive. We ordered the Brussel sprouts to share, the sauce they are in is delicious, highly recommend. The pasta was something else, super creamy, the noodle shape holds a lot of flavor, it was amazing!

Really cool place here. Old nautical themed but still new and bright. Loved the charred shishitos and both of the pizzas we ordered tasted wonderful with the pizza crust being on point. My only complaint is there weren't enough pieces of clam on the pizza. So if you order the clam pizza I'd ask for more clams if possible..

I've waited a few years to come here as in the last we haven't been able to get a reservation, but it was definitely worth the wait. Our waitress was very sweet and personable and the decor is so freaking cool inside- setting the mood for a great dining experience. The food was delicious - the ricotta gnocchi was some of the best food we had on our vacation. We also enjoyed the weird fishes pizza, and they even made a cheese pizza for my son. I would for sure love to go back again for a future visit.

I came with a friend without a reservation on a Saturday night - it was a 45 minute wait to get a seat and the staff was able to serve us drinks and we were able to get gelato in the meantime. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders working had a great energy, were super nice, and periodically checked in on us. After ordering, the food came out pretty fast, and was great. The ambiance of the restaurant was great too. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We were inside to escape the heat (outdoor patio did have fans tho!), and the indoor area was very nautical and had moody lighting.

The obstinate daughter came recommended by a gentleman that was at another restaurant I was dinning last night. He highly recommended and and since we were in Sullivan's Island to see Fort Moultrie it was close and we were hungry. We sat right away at the bar since it was only 2 of us. We had the beet salad as an appetizer which was amazing with complex flavors and perfectly cooked beets. Then we followed with the Rutledge pizza. There was no sauce just cheese, sausage, onion, and perfectly cooked brick oven pizza. The staff were super friendly and didn't make us feel rushed to get in and out. They made us drinks that were not on the menu - Aperol and Hugo spritzes. Highly recommended checking it out. The ambience is stellar.

Amazing every time. Truly a great restaurant. You can tell from the food that the kitchen is a tight ship, where freshness and made from scratch is the name of the game. Always get atleast one of the specials. The pastas are always great. The chicken with Brussels sprout app is actually huge and am insanely good with the truffle for like $16.

Was able to snag a reservation online and knew I had to come in because I am a suck for a vodka pasta and theirs came with such high remarks. Our server was quick and friendly, and aesthetic was cute with the nautical/ boat theme. They also offer a small parking lot and ample street parking- no issues on a Monday night. We did stop elsewhere where for drinks and apps so I didn't get to eat as much I would've liked. For drinks I tried their kings honey draft cocktail, so refreshing! We share the radiatore pasta and moultrie pizza - both so soo good but I wish I wasn't so stuffed from our first dinner excursion. Definitely had plenty for leftovers, I would love to come back as a first and only dinner stop to really enjoy my entire pasta. Until next time.

Big fan of this spot! We recently went for dinner. The restaurant itself is cute and has an upscale, beachy ambiance. We had a large party and got a lot of food, including shrimp cocktail, the butter bean dip, and pasta. All of the dishes were fresh and delicious, and the service was great!

The chic, rustic nautical interior feels perfect for hanging out with the girlypops and pretending you're on a stylish coastal getaway. With 2 James Beard nominations and a Michelin recommendation, we walked in buzzing with excitement and sky high expectations. We put our trust in the server and ordered her recommended dishes: the Old Danger pizza and the Ricotta Gnocchi. Unfortunately, the food landed squarely in the just okay zone. Not bad by any means, but not the wow moment we were hoping for given all the hype. All in all, it's a lovely spot for vibes, conversation, and photos, but the dishes didn't quite live up to the accolades this time around. Come for the atmosphere, stay for the girlypop energy - just maybe temper those expectations a bit.

We made a reservation on a Thursday - and glad we did. This place is hopping and for a good reason. We were seated quickly, service was prompt and friendly and the food was plentiful and delicious. We got the flatbread to share and my entree was radiatorre. Highly recommend. Portions are huge, all of the food coming out of the open air kitchen was steaming and looked delicious. It does get a bit loud when the dining room is full, but definitely a must stop.

I'm going to give this place 5 Stars simply because I have been here several time and it has been phenomenal both times. The wait was a little long, but that's because the crowds are flocking to it. All of our food was exceptional. The outside seating offered a romantic feel and the inside had a great vibe as well. This place is a must stop for dinner in Charleston.

Sara was an amazing server to start off! We were a bit difficult with seating due to saying yes to a high top which was very small. The food and service was amazing though, fantastic through and through. But my boyfriend did want me to add that the crème brûlée was such slightly burnt at the top, but it tasted so good! Loved coming here!! Will definitely be back!

Came here on a busy Saturday evening, but the staff was able to get us seated pretty quick. Receiving service after being seated was a bit slow, but once our waiter came to help us it picked up. Cocktails were good, and the food was delicious. Only downside here was that seating can be quite cramped. We sat at the high tops which was constant traffic passing by. We felt like we were in the way. But overall it was an OK experience. Would come back to try other options on their menu.

    What's vegan friendly here?

My wife and I enjoyed a pasta/veggie dish that was super. We just chatted with our waitress and had our choice of a few different options. Our food was fantastic. I wish I could remember our other options, but sorry, I can't. It was about 4…

    Are there gluten free options?

Yes, especially if you like seafood.

Is the outdoor seating dog friendly?

They do have outside seating. Yes, dogs are allowed outside.

    Any Vegan options?

    I believe so!

    Is it handicap accessible?

Yes, there is an elevator to take you from the lower level and into the dining area, which is upstairs.

Is this good with kids or should we steer clear (4 kids total in a party of 8)?

I find this place noisy & tight. I don't see it too kid friendly...long made reservations are needed.

    What is the dress code?

We went for lunch after visiting ft. Sumter and didn't feel out of place (denim shorts and t shirts). For dinner I feel like jeans or khakis with a polo/ button down would be appropriate for men; maybe jeans or a simple skirt with a cute top for…

Does anyone know if they have good gluten free options?

I am pretty sure there were a handful of gluten free options. We had one person who was on the Keto diet and was able to place an order without gluten. But I cannot remember what she ordered. Thanks

The green salad was so well balanced with a herby perfect dressing and my daughter and I shared a small to start. We also shared 2 small pizzas that were outstanding! We devoured both the Notorious FIG and the Knockout-the flavors were complex, and the crust was thin, crisp and perfect. Now back at our house we are debating going back for more. Right now. Service was excellent. Those folks are busy! Yet everyone seemed to work seamlessly together and always with a smile. Be good to yourself and go there. Order more than seems reasonable. Don't thank me-thank the wonderful staff and enjoy!

On my most recent visit I arrived early and sat right by the pickup counter so I wouldn't miss my order. I watched my pizza sit on the counter for about 12 minutes without anyone calling a name. Eventually I walked up and asked if it was mine, and sure enough it was. By the time I got it, the pizza had probably been sitting there close to 20 minutes, so it was cold again. When I mentioned it, the employee said they had called my name, which simply isn't true because I was sitting right there the entire time and never heard anything. What makes this even harder to understand is the price. A large pizza there runs about $27, and it's a very thin pizza. At that price you'd expect hot food and at least a little attention to making sure customers actually get their order when it's ready. Cold pizza twice in a row at that price point is disappointing.
