Great food and drink on newly-hip Henderson. Park on the street and grab a table; inside or out on the large patio. Service is quick, and the drink menu is imaginative and unique. Best appetizer? The meat & cheese board offers nearly endless variety; pick any 3 or 4 items from over a dzn choices. This was easily the best charcuterie boatd we have eaten in YEARS. Best entree? Heck; our party tried a little of everything and it was all good. The german foods are a bit spicy for me, but all the burgers, sandwiches, soups, and stews were great. Interesting side choices go way beyond the normal fries; you can get a salad, a very unique German potato-salad, stew, or other oddball items of interest! Fantastic idea; other restaurants should take note!! Drink hits included the Irish Old Fashioned, the Rumchata Mint Hot Chocolate, Purple Jesus and The Last Word! (The Bourbon Hot Chocolate was not nearly as good as the Rumchata Mint.) This place exceeded our expectations so much, that we went back again later on the same day - with different people! We've been coming here for years and for good reason! The food is spectacular and their beer selection is unmatched. They have a large patio which is perfect for big groups and while busy the service is there. The only that kinda sucks is parking but hey, it's Knox Henderson that's to be expected right? The brunch options are awesome and customizable but the standard breakfast is top notch and a good value. The veggie rueben, pistachio chicken and the chipotle avocado chicken sandwich are like, unreal. They have a drink there, the black widow, that I crave on a weekly basis also. They do not offer a late menu. Their bar is located in Lower Greenville known for its nightlife. They do not communicate well on closing times and tend to make excuses as to why they can't stay open late. Service on the management level used to be much better. Their individual servers are typically kind and accommodating. I do not recommend. read more

Wish we went hungry! The place was packed so we knew that had to mean something good. We were able to find a seat on the inside and ordered a beer. They had some Oktoberfest beers and other specials for Oktoberfest. We had just come from dinner and my husband couldn't help himself and ordered the beef stew! He did not regret it at all, said it was one his favorite stews he's tried and said it was bursting with flavor. We both had the fish n' chips and an order of killer mushrooms for starters. The fish n' chips were the best I've had in a long time! The mushrooms were so good! The spicy sauce that accompanied the mushrooms was delicious. Didn't disappoint. The blood OJ margarita and Blanche draft hit the spot! The atmosphere was really nice. After hearing a lot about brunch at The Old Monk, my sister, friend, and I finally got to try it out. For $11 mimosa carafe, what's not to love?!? Mimosa flavors range from classic orange, blood orange, pineapple, and cranberry. Aside from having cheap brunch drinks, The Old Monk also offers very fairly priced and delicious brunch menu items and all day lunch/dinner items. We got the chicken tender baskets and chicken avocado sliders to share, and both came with fries! Everything we got was tasty and just what we needed after a night out the night before. The food, as always, was delicious. Good service. I appreciate the normal menu can be ordered from during brunch, as well. I, selfishly, don't want to rave too much so it doesn't get too crowded. But this is one of my favorite brunch places. The breakfast tacos are so good! But so is the goat cheese salad and muscles and cheese boards and everything else. We had an issue with a patron parking too close to one of our party and the manager handled it like a rock star. He was respectful to us and the patron who caused the issue. When the inconsiderate parker became combative and rude, the manager never lost his cool and handled it in a professional manner. I already love Old Monk... I came here with a friend after hearing about their amazing mussels deal! We arrived around 6:45, just in time for happy hour so my Blood and Honey beer was only $4.50. We split the Mussels plate with the side of fries and a calamari appetizer and it was the perfect amount of food for us! The mussels came in a delicious, dairy-free beer-based broth with red cabbage garnish. The fries came with two types of mayo and the fresh loaf of bread had an herb garnish on top. Definitely order another loaf of bread to help you sop up the extra broth! They give you tiny forks and lemon wedges alongside the mussels as well. The calamari was perfectly crispy and breaded with a zesty marinara sauce accompanying it. The food was amazing, but the service was just okay. It felt like we had to ask a few people multiple times to help us find our waitress. The parking is also confined to a tiny lot, so I'm not sure what you'd do if you can't find parking. read more

I enjoyed my visit to The Old Monk. The inside of the bar is dark and cool (a very nice contrast from the bright summer heat) with a relaxed atmosphere. It's not too far off from what you might expect from a typical Irish pub, though it felt a bit more comfortable than most. The draft beer list was also pretty good with a few notable bottles for sale (e.g., Duchesse de Bourgogne). Overall, I was happy with the few brews I ordered. I think the only sour note here was the cocktails we ordered (i.e., the Irish Old Fashioned and the Blood Orange Margarita). The first was a little watery and the second was extremely tangy). However, the food was the real star. I had the Vegetarian Ruben, which was awesome. I actually liked it so much I visited again the next day to enjoy it again! Though I did not try it myself, a few people I my party also raved about the warm goat cheese salad. Overall, The Old Monk was a solid joint. I'd definitely visit again! read more

In search of some Fish and Chips on a Sunday afternoon, and found the Old Monk. The patio vibe was excellent, The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the Guiness was very tasty. The Fish and Chips came out quickly, were very good with a crisp batter and quality fish, but the gold star goes to the home made tarter sauce. Very nice. I'll be back to try more of the menu. Great neighborhood pub with a long list of beers and full bar. They have expanded seating on the backside of the building for more outside seating which is a bit quieter. Patio and open air area are great for groups, but it does get loud. Dogs are welcome on the uncovered patio and backside seating areas. Great pub food. read more

The servers were friendly (if not a bit inattentive, granted it was busy), the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and the food was really tasty (and reasonably priced!) I'm a vegetarian, and I ordered the veggie burger, with the add on of melted Monterey cheese, avocado and "salsita!" (A fun new word for salsa that I learned!) I know a good veggie burger, and this one was VERY good! A great texture and very flavorful. Customer service: It's hit and miss. First time I had a new server and she was great and attentive.
