We were married March 2nd, 2010 and we couldnt have picked a better place to be married. Everything was perfect. Except dont expect to get your deposit back unless you hire a cleaning crew that will cost you just about the same amount as the deposit. They should call it a cleaning fee not a deposit. My husband and I stayed until 12am cleaning up the mess our selves in our wedding attire. Then once we got everything cleaned up we were told we also have to take all the trash to the dumpsters half a mile away. So we didnt make it to our honeymoon cabin till 3am and I ruined my dress with trash because of this. For the price they should DEFINITELY have included a cleaning fee. I only write this so that other couples can expect to not get there deposit back or hire a cleaning crew. Either way I felt that we had the best wedding ever.

For some reason, it reminded me of Hawaii with its setup. We came here for a birthday party (cousin's wife's cousin's daughter...I hope I got that right). I felt like a little kid having fun exploring the nooks and crannies of the grounds, but I didn't have the chance to see the rest of the place. A walkway built for couples surrounds the perimeter of this beautiful lagoon. Actually, I think the walkways are just wide enough for Skipper to walk through. Sorry, Gilligan. Benches, huts, a firepit for toasting S'mores, tiki torches, and various live tropical foliage embellish your journey throughout the vast walkway. I remember hearing another party next door, but wasn't sure if it was within Corona Yacht Club's domain or a neighboring competitor. They have two bathrooms for women and one for men, which would be along the path to your left once you enter the main hall... in case you realize that the 10 freeway was much much longer than you expected. I didn't make it and had to go at a gas station. All of their staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food on the other hand, was average, but I enjoyed their mini-burgers and chicken quesadillas. I think they may have gone through a vendor for this, so I can't have that impact my review that much. The open bar made my night, but dancing on the dock over the lake and constant laughing with family and friends guaranteed that I had a night to remember. Party on little buddy. Party on. *A Note on Directions: After exiting Dillon Rd on the 10 Freeway you'll make a right onto Dillon Road, then a QUICK left onto Vista Del Sur. The home is large and sprawling-- offering plenty of tucked-away areas for privacy and quiet, as well as grand communal areas for gathering the entire group together. Extraordinary grounds-- including a beautiful pool, tennis court, open grassy area... and several water fountains, with sweet hummingbirds that visit frequently. Absolutely stunning inside and out... a true treasure. We will be back!

We stayed at the KLIMPTON PALM SPRINGS, for a 3 Night/4 Day Stay for our 14th Wedding…read moreAnniversary!!! It was a wonderful experience, BEYOND BELIEF!!! It got started with a reservation made on COSTCO.COM, with a package deal to include a car. We didn't just get a car, we got an AUDI QUATTRO w/ 400 miles on it. CAN YOU BELIEVE??? On the morning we were to drive to PALM SPRINGS, and my partner was on his way to get the car, I called Guest Services. I inquired about our room, and got upgraded to an upper floor, corner suite with a king size bed. It included a couch and a desk, AND TWO TVS!!! We also had a small fridge stocked, but had the food and drinks removed for our stuff!!! THEY OBLIGED!!! On the 2nd Day, I called the front desk, asking about PRIME AND NETFLIX. Immediately, they sent up a technician to show us how to use the TV AND GOOGLE, and how to interact with our phones. In short, WE WERE ABLE TO WATCH OUR FAVORITE MOVIES in the morning and at night. WITH THE COSTCO PACKAGE, we got free valet and free WIFI!!! Every night from 4 PM TO 5 PM, there was a wine and beer night!!! It was often the time when we were returning from touring, to relax, shower, change and get ready for dinner. We actually had time on our FIRST NIGHT to go swimming in the pool on the roof. What a treat!!! Every night, we ate at different place for dinner. On the first two nights, we took advantage of the hotel's shuttle, a big, white Suburban!!! VERY CLASSY!!! We ate dinners at Johnny Costa's, Bar Cecil (NOT TO BE MISSED!!!), and on the last night, Smokin Burgers. We ate out for breakfast one morning, and then we went to KING'S HIGHWAY. It had a 1950's VIBE. We went out every day for activities and touring, EVERY DAY WE RETURNED TO A CLEANED ROOM. We never actually saw them, but the bed was made, trash was removed. ETC. Speaking of ACTIVITIES, we tried on the first day ??( do a SCAVENGER HUNT FROM VIATOR for $49 for 2. TOTAL BUST. DAY 2 was Self Guided Driving Tour of Palm Springs and Palm Springs Aerial Tram. Day 3 was Self Guided Driving Driving Tour of the Windmills and Self Guided Driving Tour of Joshua Tree. We did drop in Aqua Caliente CASINO, and thanks to Vanna White, I made $90.00!!! WHICH WENT TO PAY FOR BAR CECIL.

I have been planning our nonprofit organization's annual conference and board meetings for almost a…read moredecade, so at this point I have booked a LOT of hotels. We are a good-sized group, usually around 30 rooms, and we have some very specific and occasionally weird needs. I also travel constantly and have been lucky to stay in some incredible hotels around the world. So when I say the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs gave us one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, and hands down the best I have ever had as the person responsible for making one of these weekends actually work, I mean it. First of all, the hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are modern, beautiful and spotless, the views are ridiculous and the rooftop feels like you have somehow floated above Palm Springs. You can walk out the front door and basically the entire downtown is at your feet. And then there are those mountains, changing colors throughout the day and turning pink and gold in the evening, reminding you that Palm Springs really has no business being this beautiful. But as much as I loved the hotel, the thing I cannot stop talking about is the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, kind, helpful, funny and gracious. It never felt scripted or transactional. People genuinely seemed happy we were there and wanted us to have a wonderful time. Our board noticed it too. All weekend I heard stories about staff members who had helped someone or gone out of their way to be kind. By the end, everyone was raving about the hotel and essentially informing me that we would be returning next year (which is great, because I want that, too!). Apparently the committee has spoken. And then there is Megan, who worked with me on our group from the beginning. If you have ever planned a hotel event, you know the person on the other end of those emails can either make you feel like everything is going to be fine or slowly remove years from your life. Megan gave me years BACK. She was thoughtful, responsive, flexible and incredibly easy to work with. She understood our group and what I was trying to create, made things easy that are so often unnecessarily complicated and never made us feel like another block of rooms on a spreadsheet. We felt genuinely welcomed and cared for, and as the person ultimately responsible for everyone having a good experience, I cannot explain what a gift that was. Also super important: the food. Apparently the Rowan decided hotel banquet food did not actually have to taste like hotel banquet food. We had lunch on Sunday and I have eaten enough conference meals to know the drill and adjust my expectations accordingly. This was legitimately delicious. People went back for more. Multiple people asked if they could get the recipe for the white bean soup. THE WHITE BEAN SOUP. At a hotel banquet. If you have attended enough conferences, you understand how extraordinary this sentence is. Our executive team also had dinner Friday night at 4 Saints and it was wonderful from beginning to end. The food was beautiful, the staff was attentive and lovely and during dinner the sun began disappearing behind the mountains while we sat high above Palm Springs. Everything turned pink and gold for a few minutes and it felt almost otherworldly. It was one of those moments where the setting, food and people you are with all come together and you realize you are going to remember this particular dinner for a very long time. And I think that is what I loved most about our weekend. Beautiful hotels exist all over the world, but ultimately what stays with you is how a place made you feel. Somehow this team made 30 rooms full of people feel like they were genuinely happy we were there. They made my job easier. They gave our board a beautiful place to work and laugh and reconnect and sit under the desert sky together. When it was time to leave, nobody really wanted to. I travel a lot and plan enough of these events to know how many moving pieces have to come together behind the scenes for an experience to feel effortless. This one did. The Rowan is special, but the people who work there are what make it extraordinary. We came for a board meeting and left already talking about when we could come back. Five stars, obviously. And if someone will please send me that white bean soup recipe, maybe six.

Spencer's also did not disappoint on our wedding day; with help from our planner, everything was set beautifully and exactly as I had envisioned - chic and elegant Palm Springs. The service was impeccable; from the amazing charcuterie and champagne waiting for us in the green room on our arrival to the extremely attentive service from the warm and friendly staff that took the time to explain dishes (and even house recipes!) to our guests. To this day, our guests still rave about the delicious food at every course - from the passed appetizers to the late-night snack! Melissa White, Director of Events at Spencer's, was amazing and regularly checked in on us throughout the day, making us feel so special and taken care of. The condos/homes are spacious, light & bright with high ceilings and beautiful views of the golf courses... The swimming pools are all nice but kinda small...and the jacuzzi spas aren't hot enough... The gym is very old & outdated in need of a major facelift and better equipment & dumbbells. I've rarely seen a gym I didn't like nor can't deal with until this one. And happy I wasn't forced to workout at this facility... The Clubhouse tho is very nice...and Letty at the front desk is so friendly & welcoming...and sweet as can be... But the star of the show is/was Dennis at the Clubhouse restaurant/bar. Friendly cool dude who know's his stuff, has extensive experience in the restaurant/bar industry, provides amazing & professional service...and he was able to keep up with me while talking about sports :) Had their Ahi Tuna for a pre dinner Appetizer and it was fantastico. The "center-cut ahi tuna" was extremely fresh...and all the flavors of the dish paired very well. They do something with the sauces that's not common -- they use hoisin sauce, instead of sweet eel sauce, and together with their spicy tuna aioli it's a perfect combination. Because IMO, most eel sauces are too sweet & sugary. Compliments to the Head Chef. We intend to comeback one day for brunch because believe it or not, their Lox & Bagel Plate is only $13...and the funny thing is, when we saw that on the menu, wifey & I discussed a return visit in the future...and when we began our conversation with Dennis, discussing their menu, he told us "you need to comeback another day for the $13 Lox & Bagel Plate" and we all had a good laugh about that. My only complaint is they close the Clubhouse restaurant/bar @5pm...and it'd be nice if they stayed open later. Because I'd most defiantly linger to watch a ballgame on one their large flatscreen tv's...and spend more money on food & drinks...and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would. But all & all...Monterey Country Club is a wonderful place, centrally located in the heart of Palm Desert, right on the borderline of Rancho Mirage.
