I dig this local bakery. Everything is made pretty fresh. The beorag's are good and relatively inexpensive. My personal favorite is the cheese is the perfect combination of dough and salty cheese. They also have a variety of meat and vegetable ones. The desserts are also amazing. read more

The manaish here is old-school, no-frills legit. Ask for them to warm it for you fresh, which they'll do in under a minute. You can get it plain or filled with veggies - including raw marinated onions (which I like) but also crammed with olives, so beware. We pair it back home with a big cup of hot tea. Yummmmm. It's run by a hard-working family who are courteous and always have a kind word - "go in peace", "success to you", "yes, we'll be open tomorrow, God willing". (heart) read more

Yummy, yummy in the Tummy! Came here form lunch today after reading some of my fellow Yelpers reviews and I was not disappointed. I had never had a Boreg before so really didn't know what to expect. It's very much like a hot pocket only made fresh and stuff with all type of flavorful meats, vegetables or cheeses. I had the Beef with Feta cheese (excellent), Spinach triangle (Good) and Potato (ok). All three cost me $5.50 perfect for lunch. Only wished they had ice coffees or mochas. Oh well. While waiting for my Boregs to warm up I saw many write-ups on their walls from the Pasadena Star & LA Times. Nice to know! read more

The BEST Armenian/Lebanese bakery in all of LA!! I love their food and the owners are the nicest people ever! I feel like I'm going to my family's place whenever I go there. There is no breakfast like their meneish with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a meneish sandwich for lunch with taan (yogurt drink). Ahhhh.... I always joke and say that I have to buy a house across the street from Sasoon!! :) Great food, kind people, awesome service...I support this business! read more

This is a wonderful little neighborhood bakery, and one of the cheapest lunches in town. When I went to PCC, I used to drive up here between classes and snag one or two of the cheese beoregs (spelling probably incorrect, they are like turnovers) and a spinach one, and those three usually wouldn't even total five bucks. Their cookies are quite tasty and you can get a stack of fresh lahmajune for hardly anything. They also have a cooler with drinks, yogurt, lebneh, and various middle easter delicacies. If you're in this 'hood, swing by and get a couple of the turnovers. They have all kinds, but the cheese is my favorite. read more

Iv been going to Old Sasoon Bakery for over a year and they always provided me with great costumer service they always make you feel like your part of their family iv been going there for over a year and will keep on going there one of the best sandwiches they have is their Manaish Sandwich its my favorite especially when you get it with everything in it i prefer everyone to go and try it and you will fall in love with their food in a heartbeat. Damn this place. Just as I was shedding the baby weight like a champ, I discover this little bakery. The worst (or best) part is that it's a 5 minute walk from my house. They make wonderful cheese, spinach, olive, and potato turnovers (are they all considered "boregs?" I don't know). The olive and the cheese are my favorite. They also have the most decadent baklava. It's honestly too much! Super friendly too. Oh, and cash only. read more

I really liked this place. I went here because another place that I found on yelp was closed temporarily for contruction. I just walked up the street and here was this bakery. I walked in 5 minutes before they closed. They took my order with no problems. I took my sandwich to go. I had a lagmagoush (sp ?). It was at the top of the menu. The food was delish. Tasty. The sandwich was really a wrap. The bread was a lavosh, Armenian flat bread. I also had the circular baklava with pistachio crumbles on top. I felt a little out of place since every one around me was speaking Armenian. That's cool though cause this place was authentic. They didn't have the air on. It was a little warm inside. But then the wait for the sandwich wasn't too long. They had all sorts of amazing Armenian delicasies. I recommend this place. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid and this is the best Armenian lunch/dinner bakery in Pasadena. The Lakmajoon is bomb and so is the boreg. They will heat it up for you or pack it to go. It's also incredibly inexpensive but extremely fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this spot as an Armenian to anyone looking for something authentic, cheap and delicious. read more

My son loves Armenian pizzas. Every once a while, I would stop by this place to get some fresh Armenian baked goods. They always open early and there's always plenty street parking on Allen. Owner is very nice and pleasant to talk to. Highly recommended. read more

First time here the other day and I absolutely love it. We shared a manaiesh and two pieces of baklava. The manaiesh was so tasty I could have eaten the entire thing myself and the baklava was fresh and delicious. Total price for everything was close to 5 bucks. I love this little Armenian bakery! Really yummy savory pastries but I have yet to try their sweet stuff. Can't get enough of their wraps... U select a flatbread (cheese, zatar, spicy tomatoe, some are half and half) then they fill it with olives, tomato, lettuce, and onions... So refreshing, light, and satisfying. I also love their kachipurri (spelling?) it's basically a big loaf of bread filled with cheese and 2 baked eggs! Their spinach and beef hand pies are also yummy! Service is great and u can tell its family owned and run, I'm glad I love nearby so I can keep coming back for more :))) read more

So this is weird...I was in LAS VEGAS eating at a small and delicious mom and pop Greek place. The owner asked where we were from and we said Pasadena. He raved about this place and said we must go. The manaesh sandwich ('zaatar') is absolutely superb. They only serve it before lunch time, as manaesh is considered a 'breakfast' dish. They wrap it up in tomatoes, pickles and some fresh herbs. Cheap and good for you, too. Of course, the rest of their stuff is to die for. A wonderful hole in the wall. read more

So the secret's out... We've been going to Old Sassoon and enjoying Abou Yousef's baked goods since he opened over 20 years ago.This place remodeled about two years ago, trying to appeal to the lunch crowd rather than just the take-home crowd with conters and outdoor seating. I think they succeeded. I like Old Sassoon's lahmajune ore than some of the other bakeries in the area. The meat is flavorful and has just the right amount of garlic and spices. Their beoregs are also light and tasty, with fillings like cheese, spicy cheese, potato, mushrooms, basturma, and so on. I usually order two lahmajune (Armenian pizza) and a cheese beoreg, which comes to about $4. I agree with others that it is a cheap lunch, but can also remember when it was much cheaper--I mean, it's just bread with stuff in/on it. The lahmajune is 75 cents, which seems expensive to this penny pincher. But anyways, that's inflation for ya. Here are a few tips: - If you want to order lots of lahnajune, go early. They do run out and there is a rush. - Try their Manaesh sandwich in the morning. Zataar, onions, tomatos, olives... yum - They will also stuff and bake chickens, turkeys, etc. for a fair price. - If you're coming from out of town, call ahead. They have been known to be closed for weeks at a time. read more

This place is worth one star for the lady behind the cash register. She's sweet. Otherwise, both the sweet pastries and the stuffed baked goods taste okay. Not delicious at all. Too much oil and too little taste. Was worth a try but will not be going back again. After having the taste of some bakeries in Glendale, this place isn't worth it. Price is too high for the low quality food offered. read more

The khachapuri was amazing! The baklava looks different than previous pictures and is sort of mediocre. The olive, cheese, and chard beoregs were good. The various fava bean items - beoreg and sandwich - were a bit dry imo. Although this seems like a mixed review, it all adds up to 5 stars because the khachapuri was so delicious. read more

Ok this place is a hidden gem. Just stopped by with my sister to get something for breakfast. We got three flatbreads- zaatar, red pepper/chili, and cheese. We also got a swiss chard pastry, some delicious hot cereals and some yogurt drinks and took it all home. Oh my gosh...we can't stop arguing about which is the best item!!!! Each bread is so yummy! Really fresh and the quality is so good. Hot cereals are an unusual purchase for me, but the manager (who was just the nicest guy) gave us samples and we had to get them! So good with cinnamon! I really like the salty mint yogurt, but my sister loves the mango lassi. Next time we will definitely be trying the bread with the cheese and egg and the veggie sandwich made on the flatbread. And the baklava... don't know it I should get started on those...they looked dangerously good! read more

The "khachapuri" was above average. Pleasantly light, it is manageable for one person to eat. Not pizza like, the dough was sweet and the crust was airy enough to pull apart by hand. Not stringy, the cheese was soft, but didn't have much flavor except for saltiness. To my delight, the egg was super runny. With just a splash of specks, more black pepper was needed. As with most places, it takes 15 minutes to cook the dish. The other offerings were less exciting. The cheese "boreg" had plain bread, a thin filling of dill and white cheese, and too much salt. With good seed flavor, the "zahtar" was too oily. The baklava came in four designs. The clam-shaped version had mild nuts and not much honey. read more

Good Armenian bakery located in the border of Pasadena and Alta Dena. I discovered this bakery during my lunch break from a CPR class and was pretty pleased with the prices. Very cheap bakery that will make you full and is great for lunch. My favorite item here is the Armenian pizza. However, i wasnt so pleased with the other other items I've tried, which were the bakkla which was way too sweet for my liking, the armenian cookie which was sort of like a short bread but wasn't so sweet, and the bread roll with olives, beans, tomato which was okay to me (because i dont like olives and beans in general). A lot of Armenians come here for their bakery. I think if i grew up with this kind of food i would appreciate this place more. read more

Can't believe I never new about this place. Great food, friendly staff. Went about 9 am on a weekeday, baked goods just coming out of oven. Ordered the breakfast boreg with egg and cheese. Enough for two. Sampled a warm drink seasoned with rosewater and cinnamon after seeing another patron order and asking about it. Will definately come again on my way to Eaton Canyon. read more

Grossed out by more recent review of the maggot infested meat boreq. I've never ordered anything with meat here before. Was always suspicious of the meat since the boreq and lahmajoun sit in an unrefrigerated case all day. Can never go back after seeing that photograph. read more

After we lost our home in the Eaton Fire, in Altadena, we were living in a hotel and would come to Sahara for dinner. Every time we came in, they insisted on sending us home with extra food so we would have something to eat later. At a time when our lives had been completely turned upside down, that kindness and generosity meant more to us than I can possibly express. Extraordinary food made by genuinely wonderful people. Good lahmajoun, OK service, horrible Turkey! Yes, can you believe this bakery makes turkey for Thanksgiving Day? My thanksgiving dinner was a disaster, because of Old Sason Bakery! I'm sorry to say, it was the worse experience ever. I was surprised that they make turkey, but the picture on the wall looked good, so I ordered one. They said 20 pounds and stuffed, for only $65.00. Can't go wrong with that, right? Well, needless to say, everything about that bird went wrong. 1st, it was not 20 pounds, and not stuffed. The turkey was burned! It was dry! The back part was smoking black, and it was disgusting looking! We did not touch the bird, it was impossible to try to eat it. It was the most embarrassing experience I had as a host and I was fuming pissed!!! I'm very disappointed at Old Sason Baker. I did take the bird back the next day, I did get my money back and an apology. They told me that one customer ordered an extra crispy turkey, and they gave it to me by mistake. The birds were switched by mistake? BS!! Who orders turkey "extra crispy"? It's already dry meat. They were not very convincing for me to go back next year. They said, "for next year come back, buy another turkey and get one free. Excuse me? Give me one for free anyway to win my business back! The problem is finding just the right baguette, which is the secret to this hot dog. Not even throughout Paris at different hot dog stands do they use the right baguette or hotdog. The hot dog texture and taste can be slightly off as well as the mustard. However, when perfect the hot dog and mustard should be spicy. I was thrilled when I came across Point Eat and they serve a Czech hot dog in a stuffed baguette, and their picture confirmed it. Although it was invented in the 1970's in Denmark, it has found its way across Europe to France and Czech Republic among other countries. My hats off to Point Eat to getting closer to my love affair with this style of hot dog then I've been able to do at home. And, it's the only time I've seen it on a menu anywhere in the United States. The hot dog and mustard could be spicier, but I'm not complaining, because the one thing that is absolutely perfection is their baguette which is the real secret to the Fransk/French/Czech hot dog. I'll be back to try their other sandwiches which look great with their homemade Focaccia and definitely their hot dog. By the way their hot dog is huge, not your standard run of the mill hot dog.
