One of my favorite carb load meals! I always get a large broccoli and Sicilian cheese bread for an app and then mizithra for dinner with another side of the broccoli bc it's that amazing.. The Sicilian cheese bread with pesto sauce is everything. It felt a bit overcooked this time around. Lately I've been getting the garlic mizithra but with the bacon and mushrooms on the side. The mushrooms aren't my favorite as the flavor tends to overpower. The pasta meal comes with an ice cream - fun fact you can get caramel on the vanilla, and it's delicious. Service was great and we were sat in the middle of the restaurant. The noise level in the restaurant is always a bit loud so keep that in mind. There's plenty of parking in the lot and also the lot on the other side of the railroad tracks but I made the poor decision to park on the street and continued to have to feed the meter on the app. Total parking for a few hours ended up being over $15, when it coulda been free! This was my go to for my children's birthday dinners and just dinner. Use to get free drinks with meals. I have fond memories sitting in caboose with children. Ambiance I drove into the parking lot like I have been doing for years. The alley or street has been blocked off by new owners of building next door. It was difficult to back out, chains blocking parking spots next door. I was basically trapped. This just seems mean spirited. I know it is not Spaghetti Factory's fault but there should be BIG SIGN at entrance of parking lot stating not a thru street. I have always gone in this way, drive towards the back and try to find parking on other side. Maybe Spaghetti Factory should attempt to work with new owners. I was told by server they are going to develop apartments. It will be a serious mess either way. Food Mizithra was a salt bomb sent it back, normally very good. Pasta overcooked. Rich Meat Sauce I have loved the rich meat sauce over the years but not today. Just lacked the flavor and tasted off, was barely edible. Ordered the Hearty portion so we can have leftovers, did not taste good warmed up so threw it out. The recipes are the recipes, whoever is making the meat sauce does not care. Spicy Spaghetti Vesuvius Never had it before but was tasty. Service It was busy but good. They don't cook the food. Will not return to this location anytime soon and go to Elk Grove instead. My family and I hadn't been to The Old Spaghetti Factory in years, but we were in the mood for pasta and decided to try somewhere we hadn't been in a while. We arrived around 4:45pm yesterday and unfortunately seats in the trolley were not available, but the hostess did sit us at a nice table in a corner. I love the old timey feel of the large dining area, which the high ceilings and vintage lighting - they also have a private room for events plus the trolley seating which I highly recommend to request to sit in at least once! They are also known for Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter Pasta which originated at their first location in Portland, Oregon in 1969. We started with the Cheesy Bread (added bacon) as an appetizer, followed by the Salad with Creamy Pesto Ranch, Minestrone Soup, Spinach and Cheese Ravioli, Chicken Parmesan and the Kids Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. We enjoyed everything for the most part - my one compliant was that the Chicken Parmesan was a bit a tough. We finished off our meal with the infamous Spumoni Ice Cream which is always my favorite part! Overall, it is not my favorite Italian restaurant, to be honest, my family actually enjoys Olive Garden a lot more, but it's nice to branch out periodically! I'm sure we'll be back again! My husband & I came here Tue 9/1 around 4:30pm for Happy Hour as well as my Bday! We sat at a booth in the bar & Betsy came by to take our drink orders. We both got their seasonal hazy beer $4HH & Betsy brought out our salads, hot fresh SD bread, & some extra Creamy Pesto to dip it in. We also got an order of Sauteed Jumbo Shrimp $8 which were good but not very big at all. For our entrees I got the Chicken Marsala meal $24 which was good, but too salty for my liking. I need to just stick to my Mushroom Ravioli from now on. Anytime my family was coming back from dirtbike riding at Prairie city, we always made it a point to stop at the old spaghetti factory. This one has one of the coolest interiors I have seen. I think if my memory is correct, it used to be a post office. They have stained glass, there is a train caboose in the middle of the restaurant, the bar is pretty chic. Usually, I get the spaghetti with meat sauce because you get the full works. A salad with pesto dressing, spaghetti and to finish a scoop of delicious spumoni ice cream. This last time however I switched it up and got the Italian cream soda; which comes in a cool souvenir glass, the cheesy garlic bread for my appetizer, and then for my entrée I got the manager's favorite. It includes any two sauces, so for my sauces I went with the rich meat sauce, as well as the white clam sauce. Everything was tasty, the portions were generous and I had some leftover to take home for lunch the next day. Our group of 21 was so happy to get in on Saturday night! We had Ian as our server and that guy is amazing! got all of our orders, drinks, meals, desserts, refills, he even took a great picture of our group! Super friendly never look stressed! Amazing! He even found us an extra table so we weren't so cramped which made it all comfy! Food was so good! Bread warm, everyone was happy with their meals. Spaghetti and meatballs were huge hits! I love them the fettuccini and the pesto ranch in the salad is so good! Beautiful decor with stained glass everywhere a cool train for a photo and plenty of seating. Has its own parking lot which is nice. Saw kids dressed up for their prom. We would for sure go back! Only complaint is that the AC kept going out in our room so it got too warm at times. Visited this location for a pickup for a company picnic. Have never visited this J street location but might just have to come here for a sit down visit with that train inside. We ordered quite a bit of food for our office holiday trip. The staff was really great and helpful and they even allowed us to buy and use the gift cards to get some nice 10 dollar gift cards. We used 7 cards and they did not balk at having to do the extra work. There is ample parking during the day but I can imagine it getting busy during the night with so many businesses around. I really enjoyed the old school interior and found it to be nice compared to the modern setup places are adopting nowadays. This is part of a chain that exists in a number of places. This one is unique for it's convenient downtown Sacramento location, and unique character in a classic railroad terminal building. The building is a sprawling, eclectic Mediterranean style structure that is quite intriguing in the interior. There's limited parking around the building but if it's packed you'll need to look in the adjacent neighborhood. I came here with a larger group of 12 people, and this is a good place for that. The restaurant is cavernous and good for larger groups or parties. The setting is fun, a bit chaotic, yet what one would expect in this type of hyped up chain environment. It's visually interesting and the noise level is high. The menu seemed straightforward enough but I and another diner got confused by what's included in the meal, or not. There seems to be information about salad and dessert but the way it's written at the top of the menu it's difficult to decipher. And, yes, we should have asked the waiter but he seemed so stressed to quickly take our orders. In the end there was confusion as to what was on the bill with what had been ordered and brought to the table. I ordered the Spicy Spaghetti Vesuvius. I skipped the salad not knowing it was included. Bread was brought to the table, along with drinks... all fine. The Spaghetti was good, definitely middle of the road quality pasta, not very spicy with the sauce, but the meatballs were excellent. It was a filling enough portion and overall it was just OK For dessert I had Spumoni which I thought would be extra cost but later found out it was part of the meal. Overall the service was good, very fast paced and efficient. The entire experienced unraveled with the check. I presume because we were a larger group we had to use a QR Code to locate our specific dishes to pay. It was a chaotic nightmare for all of us trying to figure it out because it was not user friendly, confusing and difficult to navigate each step. Each of our phones had complications and it took groups of us trying to work it out. What seemingly is an easy process, where you select the items you ordered, was not at all and I personally left the experience upset and annoyed. Not a good way to wrap up a nice meal with friends. I guess it would be best to try and flag down the waitperson for assistance, if at all possible. We had no idea if we left the right tip or even paid correctly. Because of the billing snafu and the rather ordinary meal, and somewhat confusing menu, I doubt I'd return. Except for the eclectic environment even Olive Garden seems better, and that's a low bar for comparison. read more

While I've never been to this location before today, spaghetti factory has a nostalgic place in my heart! The decor here is fun and gaudy, with ornate chairs, awesome vaulted ceilings, stain glass, and, of course the train car! I ordered the chicken picatta which came with angel hair pasta topped with their special cheese that starts with an 'm,' I can't remember what it's called but it's pretty delicious!! We also had the garlic cheese bread-so good! We saw after we ordered that you can get it topped with pepperoni- do that! Their meals come with a salad or soup, the salad with their house dressing (creamy pesto) was so good! We were full when our entrees came. They also brought out a warm sourdough loaf of bread. We came here for dinner on Saturday to celebrate a special event. We had 8 people...7 adults and one young child and a reservation for 7:30. We got seated right at 7:30. The waitress was young and inexperienced. We ordered drinks. My dad's cocktail was wrong and also they took almost 20 minutes to make their way to our table. We ordered entrees at 8. We did NOT get our food for over an 1 hour and 15 minutes. RIDICULOUS! Literally it our food came out at 9:15 at night...WTF!!! We asked the waitress after waiting 45 minutes to check. She was rather brash and said "it would be a while?" WHAT does that even mean we asked? She said there were A LOT of tickets. That was odd because the restaurant was clearing out by that point. We were getting a little anxious and upset after waiting for so long. They didn't even bother to bring my sons food so he could eat. The manager came out shortly after we asked the waitress where our food was. He was VERY crass and not helpful. He told us that the reason the food was taking so long was because of the chicken entrees. Lol. Comical. He said that cooking the chicken 8 minutes or so casued a 75 minute delay. It was a less than ideal experience and the events of the night left a bad taste. My mitzra pasta was absolutely trash and disgusting. O threw it away when I got home after taking one bite. The lack of customer service and ability from both the waitress AND the manager to address our concerns and get us decent food in a timely manner even after expressing our frustration was unfavorable..not sure we will be back after this. In a environment where food costs are rising and customer service is on the decline how you treat your customer speaks volumes about whether they will return or not. I suggest OSF tries to do better in the future if they want to stay around because horrible service AND horrible food is not a good combo. read more

I went to this restaurant today for the first time since I was craving a meatball sandwich. The musty smell as I entered should have been a clue not to go further . I ordered a spicy meatball panini with a side salad. To start with the sandwich was stuck to the plate with melted cheese from the sandwich. The bread was soggy at the bottom of the plate. I looked at the meat since it didn't quite look like a meatball. This was some kind of compressed, processed meat product sliced like a sausage. I tried to eat it but it was so disgusting and I didn't want to seem rude. I ate what I could but not much. The salad was basic iceberg lettuce with a few shavings of carrot. The only good thing was - the employees were very nice and pleasant. That's about the only nice thing I can say about this place. I ordered from GrubHub and it was delivered quickly and in the timeframe promised. I called the restaurant a couple of times just to ask for a little extra sauce for the Chicken piccata no one answered and my worst fear was realized...Dry spaghetti with Parmesan on it. I used some of my dressing to moisten it, which left my salad dry due to the small size of dressing they give, and they charge about a dollar for an extra. The chicken was good. It was moist. Then I had a little ice cream which was good too. I probably would give them another try. Only I would go and sit down and see if it's different than carryout because my order was lacking. read more

1st time I visited this Spaghetti Factory was in the 70's. When I lived in downtown Sacramento in the late 1990's -2012 I would take my family here 2-3 times a month. I could get a good dinner with soup or salad & a scoop of ice cream at a great price with good customer service & a wonderful atmosphere. They offer a drink menu a lunch menu and then the regular dinner menu and everything was pretty fairly priced between about $11and $33. The menu that I ordered from came with the three-course meal which included the salad or soup, bread, vanilla, ice cream, and the meal. My waitress Kathy quickly approached the table and took my order for my drink. Bringing my drink back I was ready to order. For an appetizer, I had the Sicilian garlic cheese bread. The spaghetti factory is a great place to take a date or take a family. Their restaurant is so unique inside, there is a train car. And you can sit st the tables in the train car. I recommend trying their mizitra cheese and brown butter sauce, it is so good for the cheese lover like myself. I wish they offered different kinds of pasta with their sauce. I am an angel hair pasta lover, but you don't get a choice here. But the pasta was cooked perfectly, and I love that they round the meal out with spumoni ice cream. Had out of town visitors who wanted to go here....If I could leave no stars I would. Started off with drinks, followed by Hair Salad, which I discovered after I started to eat the salad. Can you say disgusting! Requested to speak with the manager, Angelo, who came over to ask how he could assist. We informed him of the hair in the salad and he asked is it yours? At that point I lost my appetite and I couldn't eat...although the others in our party ate their food. I would think that a chain restaurant would have proper health protocol for its staff. Came here during the second Saturday artwork and since I was with the BF and his two young kids, who insisted on eating here, I requested the dining car. I suppose it is technically a trolley car, but you know what I mean. I've been coming here for years! It looks like this location dates back to 1979 which makes sense since I recall coming here as a kid. As an adult, I really haven't been back to this location. Fast forward 40 plus years later and I still dig the high ceilings, stained glass interior and wooden architecture. I can't eat anything I want like I used to do 40 years ago without suffering some consequences *ahem high cholesterol* but tonight I did treat myself to the broccoli with browned butter and mizithra cheese. In fact, that was my main dish, with a side of chicken breast. My younger self would have ordered the fettuccini Alfredo, but those days are long gone. Both broccoli and chicken were good! Top that off with the fresh baked loaf of sourdough bread (another treat) and I was good to go. Our youthful server did his best staying on top of everything - I think had we been on the main floor, it would have been a bit faster. The kids were so happy eating in the trolley car and loved their kids menus, the spumoni ice cream is a bonus too. It was the first time I saw them eat everything on their plate.
